  1. yay! i wanted to play rs, i log in and wait about oh.. 15 seconds. then *boink*. i tried again to log in and then i decided to get the stupid page into a quote. my rant: i can't play rs! and i want too! REARGHG!! i barely play and then when i actually go on it crashes -.-
  2. that statement is either really funny or really stupid. i don't think some one can say that with a clear mind so i'm going to lean on the funny side. regardless of whether or not a homeless person has or has not used drugs shouldn't be an issue when it comes to aid. they are no different than you or i other than a differing circumstance. it's another day in paradise (if you know this reference then congrats) for you when you come to a heated home, can afford your meals and don't have to worry about whether or not you'll be able to shower or get another pair of clothes. things that people take for granted are numerous and it saddens me when some one will turn the other cheek when seeing a man in need. once again- they are no different from you or me. you eat, he eats, he sees, you see, you feel, he feels. drugs- it is possible to say that drugs can be a factor into why some one has been made homeless. drugs are not limited- alcohol is also another thing that can lead to this. rehabilitation is possible for any one person that is homeless and is willing to give life another try. countless amounts of people have been addicted to a substance and have bounced back to successful lives. a very good example is josh Hamilton on the Texas rangers. he was addicted to heroine and was at one point (i believe) homeless or on the brink. He trained hard and eventually got re-drafted onto the rangers. He eventually did the home run derby and shattered a record for the amount of home runs hit. I'm proud to say that i watched that event on live television. inspirational stories are heard all of the time by people who have been homeless at one point and have pulled themselves up from that situation. i find these stories the most tearful when they mention how hard it was for them to find the basic necessities to live. it truly does make me sad that, not only the government, but the people who are represented by the government can just [ignore] millions of people. closing statement- what if you're parents suddenly lost their job, house and lifes savings and as a result you became homeless? it's been happening around the united states at an alarming rate so it's not hard to see now-a-days. high end jobs like engineers, accountants, small buissiness owners are losing money and it's not hard to see. it can take 2 months for your life to be turned upside down and when you're at the short end of the stick, you'll be asking for help.
  3. old old old old old old old :wall: fist of guthix is awesome. if some one just quits because they think you're too powreful, then don't make a big deal out of it. at least you didn't lose eh?
  4. you know that does suck. it'd be better if it was the maze and you at least got something out of it in the end, but if you got the stupid clothing, 500 gp in rs is less than a dollar irl. seriously, we were promised removal of randoms AGES ago. they forgot about it and a few months later they said, "oh! Dammit i knew i forgot something!" i gotta be honest though. after reading your rant, i did get a good laugh.
  5. wow guys. never thought about swapping pouches. thanks :D
  6. regardless of it being fast or slow, is there any other way i can find cheap shards (i gotta buy a lot -.-) or has jagex eliminated all hope of this happening? if not don't flame me -.- . i'd know why they wouldn't have made cheaper shards available. is there a price difference on ge and shops? i'd look but i'm pressed for time
  7. this is only a theory i was browsing the credits list on the runescape website out of boredom. i go down and see near the bottom- "Brazilian-Portugese Team" . is jagex going to make a portugese form of runescape? is it people who work in Brazil? why the hell portugese and not something like spanish? so whatever. then i look to see if this new mark guy or whatever the hell this guys name is at the "Lead Developer" status. what's this? andrew is still there. new guy isn't? how can this be? is andrew trying to make an alternative identity with this mark (whatever his name is) fellow so he can get on the side of the players? or is the new guy just lazy and not want to fix this? is he there and i'm just being stupid? here's the link to the people thing: http://www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarti ... cle_id=746. i'm going to get in my asbestos suit so i will not get burned from the massive flaming the people will unleash upon me.
  8. welcome to tip.it forums! the trade limit is nothing new. by far. it happened in december of 07'. i believe it was the 20ish (maybe the 12th?) of that month. and jagex gave us fair warning it was coming too. i believe about a month in advance too! that's pretty good if i say so myself. jagex made it so accounts created after the update had to follow the new trade limit rules. it eventually applied to every one around... the 3rd of january? i'm not posotive. since this happened about 14 months ago, (almost 427 days) it's fair to say that the dust has settled. the prices on the grand exchange were fixed in about eh... half a year (that's 6 months :)). so it took 6 months for it to flow out evenly. are you mad about godsword prices? that's almost new (but not quite). dragon armor? i'm a little mad that the dragon medium is only 60k now. but i can't say that it's something that happened suddenly. it was like a feather falling to hit the ground, not an anvil. we saw it coming, we prepared and we have come through it. now although jagex is switching their employees around right now, i think that runescape will stay the same regardless of the grand exchange. in other words= you had fair warning buddy. it happened 14 months ago. that's over a year. deal with it, move on. the rest of the rs community has.
  9. well if you start with the right skills, you can make some money! start off with wood cutting and you'll be hoarding some money in no time. fishing i see is another way for you to go so i suggest you stick with it! there's also some valuble drops to beware of! big bones are pretty in demand and runecrafting has it's rewards as well. i've made a decent amount of money off of it :) for some fast cash, try mining. that's how i got my start! sorry for the "jagex like" responce but that's all you really can do if your inexperienced. wait untill you ARE a decent level and it takes forever to get to the next level. that's always not fun
  10. sorry to kill your eyes and such but, here's a wall of text for your viewing pleasure. oxymoron? i think not! VVVVVV read this part to keep your eyes from bleeding there's some information in there that gets repeated later, so i made the unimporant stuff bold. only in the following paragraph however ^^^^^ so i did a little thing called research and i looked up this guy. sum up: 4.5m exp overall (6 skills not listed) [2.96m meele] lets look at me: 44.3m experience (16.33m meele) meele=str, atk, hp, def. now it took me 3 days to get my strength level that i got yesterday. safe to say about 4-5 hrs of playing each day. now about i really don't want to say that during all of that i did strength training. i also had a little bit of help. i had stealing creation armor (lots of it) to help me train it. so i trained at red spiders for a little while untill my 3 helms ran out of charges. i'd roughly say that took arpox. 2 hours (i know because i talked to my sister for an hour on the phone and my cell's right next to me). killed some cockroaches like i always do when i'm bored. then i bs'd with my friend there *later time* for about 3 hours with no stealing creation armor on (although i did have full dharoks on, i also had to teach my friend how to get into cockroaches :XD: he got the safety first emote). however because we were bs'ing i didn't powertrain, i didn't get all the kills i could have or all the damage (i also died because of neglegence that took about a good 5 minutes, but that's another story). that's a summary of my 3 days. for the record- i know how long it took me to get my strength level because it was the level before it became the highest one above all my other skills as well as it getting me to 1800 total level. fairly memorable. if you want to account for everything- i've been sick since friday so my reaction time isn't at it's premium. so lets summarize! [we're almost there!] so in about 3 days, 4-5 hours of playing, about 15 hours with each day, not totally training strength every minute of every day, and about -roughly because i didn't have a stopwatch on me- i'd say i trained for a good 8 hours. which means i got 861 experience every minute, and 14 experience every second. (variables will come in 2 paragraphs!) now using the highscores and tip.it's xp table- so it took me approximately 8 hours to get 413,482 experience in strength. you need 48,576 to get to your next strength level. with some added numbers it takes you 485,762 experience too get too 76. wowee! you can get almost 5 strength levels in the time it takes me to get 1  ! isn't it amazing!? i sure find it to be that way! ok some variability takes place: my strength level was 87 before with the other stats my attack is level 86. i used a saradomin sword, the aforementioned stealing creation armor (only one peice at a time varying from helm legs to plate), dharoks, and i used my dragon battleaxe special. my equipment was a netiz helm, dboots, fighter torso, barrows gloves, and glory amulet, wealth ring, quest cape (<3:). so if you want to add about 3-4 hours to make it accurate, it'd be fairly appropriate. some negative variability: i'm sick with a cold making me have a headache. i didn't power train (power train= being as efficiant as possible to train any given skill). i did the dharoking at 12am to 3 am under the influence of cough syrup. i went on myspace to check up on things that took about a half hour due to sending a complicated message. i did some farming here and there, herblore, and some merchanting. did penguins for a little bit in addition. so if you want to keep it the same, it'd be fairly appropriate. so about those 500 hours :/ who said you need 500 hours?
  11. well i've noticed that it's not the new people on the forums doing it. the example i had was bumped by people had a post count of 300+. i looked at that as well just too see if the guy doing it was just trying to be annoying. it just infuriates me. i'll get rid of the whole i hate you people thing :P
  12. so browsing the rants section of this forum and i find a rant. click on it. the subject is about nature runners getting pk'd in wilderness. well i was about to put my two cents in, saying well you should just go on a non-pvp world. i glanced at the date the rant was made and it said: 11 21 07. wait... the wilderness was still around then. THIS RANT EXPIRED!!! who in their right mind would have it still around so people could marvel at the past and how bad/good it was?? that was 2007. so that rant was made, a year and almost 3 months ago. wait what? A YEAR?! it only has 2 flippin pages! who?what? why??? normally i wouldn't care but it's that i remembered this rant! it looked so familiar that i was shocked i remembered it. it's not the only one either. there's at least 3 others i've found [spamming] on the rants forum. the thing is the owner didn't bump it possibly because it's a re-occuring annoyance that happened, it was just some schmuck (yes schmuck) who decided to voice his opinion. it goes from 11 22 07 to 12 10 08 then towards 02 13 09. so it died not once, but twice!

does that mean that runescape will go down this "slippery slope" where we [god save us!!!!] get charms from minigames or other ways? what if i wanted to train summoning but i'm tierd of killing cockroaches/fire giants? there is literally no other way for me to get any other charms other than chaos tunnels or monster killing. it's monotonous! shouldn't you complain about pest control giving combat experience? i mean the point of training strength is through killing things, not minigames. as the freak mentioned before, what about if people use tears of guthix, penguin points, or genie lamps on the skill? does that make them worse or better? if they're better than what about the skill they got the experience in? what if i'm level 126 and i have every combat skill maxed except summoning. i'm tierd of killing stuff now and i want to just play whatever else runescape has to offer. i notice a minigame that i love. i get the option of charms and i'm not intent on efficiancy, but rather having fun and enjoying the different features soul wars has to offer. this game is my way of getting away from the power skilling and having to train every skill to an amazing level. here, i can relax and know that even though i'm "procrastinating" from getting more charms, i know that the rewards are worth it enough for me so that i can be happy. isn't that what it's all about?
  14. i'm glad now people can't just go around saying they were at the right place at the right time when some one died from a random. true story- i was at cw and this guy had a mr. hyde event and he had desert robes on, santa hat, and torags hammers. he died and i almost got his santa. they were 25m at that time  i've gotten about 500k from people dieing from funny stuff. like this guy went afk and turned auto retaliate off at lessers. he didn't come back and he lost [i gained] obby cape and rune kitesheild. sheild was 50k at the time and cape was 300kish. the rest is just from accumulation. then there's the time when people died at wcing yews and lost their d axe or head from tree spirt/random. then you had to buy back the head because the handle was useless but if you didn't have the money you were skrewed. ahh.....good times.... went to kq with a friend of mine and i lost my stuff all the time because i kept dieing. [96 i think i was]. he picked up my rune boots but i lost all my stupid legends capes -.- all of this is giving me nastalgia. i miss old rs, but if it were back i'd blow my head off.
  15. my rsn is yanxrul. when i was level 30ish (years ago) i saw this guy in mining field south of fally. his name was yanksrule. i had the biggest cocktail of emotions ever right then and there.
  16. i'm not going to go on about longsword or scimitar because that was for sake of example. all i'll say is that the stats are different and the longsword is slightly better but it's slower. the special is also used 4 times comparable to the scimitar of being used once. it's debatable which is faster, but i own a saradomin sword so i just kinda moved on from that discussion. the zamorak spear is basically a jacked up version of the dragon spear. it has the same special and pales in comparison to the godsword (pretty much everything does though). if i were to make some stunned wouldn't using a snare spell and then moving away work just as well? how about an ice barrage/blitz? all i'm saying is that the special is junk, the stats are not as good as saradomin sword (close but no cigar, hence why it's 6m cheaper) or even the abbysial whip (dirt cheap now). once again, it's a weapon that will probably get buried over time because it's.... junk. i'm starting to sound like a broken record player but the zamorak spear (which i didn't even know existed before i started this thread because it was so unpopular and not used. i researched it don't worry) has no value that is so enormous that it's quintessential that is existing in runescape. my friend for some reason wanted every dragon piece in the game. so he bought everything except the claws, plate, chain, and the full helmet. he was a little low on cash and he was asking me and a friend (we were in clan chat) on what to get rid of. first thing me and his friend said was: dragon 2h and dragon spear. i've come across multiple people that just sigh to themselves whenever they receive a javelin drop. they're not too worried about spears because they are alchable. come on now. how many of you used your rune kp spear after completing that quest? chances are you alched it or sold it. usually the rune version of items can be salvaged in some way (scimitars, swords, armor) but it's not the case with spears. why they're members only confuses the hell out of me too. i never once found myself thankful i was a member because then, i wouldn't have myself a spear or javelin.
  17. well i'd go on about sledgehammers, but they have yet to have a dragon update towards them so it's a "wait and see". the dragon long/rune long and dragon scimitar/rune scimitar are based upon preference and if you wanted to a quest to get it or not. i found heroes to be easier than monkey madness so if i didn't have that dragon long, i'd honestly say i'd be set back about 4 melee levels. occasionally you'll find some one that uses a longbow (like the darkbow, or perhaps in fletching), or finds salamanders the most essential item in their arsenal (some quests require different combat types at different times like ranged and mage). what i'm getting at is, no one uses javelins. they are a members weapon and you were exposed to the shortbow before any other type of ranged weapon (unless the first quest you do changed it) and it is of the best selections to have when using/training ranged. i would have gone so far as to say the same things about claws (although they aren't in the drop tables of nearly all monsters) but they dragon variety came out and it turned out to be the most expensive and sought after dragon weapon in the game. right now i don't think that even a dragon update could make the javels come to [any] glory at all. they were never in a glorious spotlight and because of that players will just look the other way with them and not even request they be turned into dragon.
  18. oh you know EXACTLY what i'm talking about. the weapon that's about as fast as a shortbow using longranged but about as slow as slitting your wrists. they are rubbish! i hate it! whenever i get a dragon task i'm forciblly fed this junk that barely hits and takes forever to throw. it wouldn't be so bad if there was a demand for them, but even for rune, you might as well just throw it down a well. there's a lot of weapons that have a dragon alternetive but i think we can cool it with javelins. i didn't expect dragon claws to be so popular, or d2h. the spears. oh bloody hell the spears. if they weren't essential in about 2-3 quests (and a fally diary) i'd like to say that no one uses them. they are the apitamy of bad ideas. all it really is, is a metal tip on a wooden pole. if you heard about this new weapon when it was released i bet your reaction was not: no wai dewd  . now the dragon spear is.... good? i don't know because i don't have one. i've seen.... 3? maybe 4? in my years of playing (august 05) i can't say in an honest fashion that spears have been essential towards people progressing in runescape. it's just something uncomprehendable as too why.... they exist? they were thought of? just.... wow. i'd rather get a 3k coin drop than a dragon spear. chances are i'd alch anything with [spear] in it.
  19. this thread died twice why is it still here?.... :wall: i like smithing idk what you're talking about. farming however is a pain in the [wagon]. contact was easy. dealing with scabarites was a challenge... it was fun if you knew what to do.
  20. any one else almost faint when the guy said he's slightly over 21? how about when he said jagex will answer questions? how about when he said there's going to be words unblocked from censor? did i just [cabbage] my pants?
  21. i always love it when peoples logic is this if player is 13 years old then he is mature. you are mature if and only if you don't say *word* all the time. if you say *word* then you are not above 13 or well beyond 30. maturity is learned in a variety of ways and if you have to [grudgingly] watch another kid grow up by saying these words then well you'll have to deal with it. i'll admit, i was like these players (notice i said players and not kids) when i was growing up (as i still am) and i'd like to say that it's good i got it out of my system. it's just an inevitable part of life. you have the responsibility of saying all these words and you confuse that word with privilege or right.
  22. allright, i guess i was being a complete [bleep] when i went and tried to get my interpitation of what this guy said in his rant. apparently my comparison wasn't good enough, collectors should be kicked out of the game, and now i'm one of those attackers in barbarian assault that just pays no attention. i briefly thought about defending my position, but you know what? it would be like throwing rocks at the moon. it'll never get through.
  23. i think why he wants the ancient spells is so he can freeze a group or poison a group of penace fighters or something along those lines. they don't have to do initial damage, just the effect. couldn't ice be put under the same category as water? just a thought. _collector is used because there's gotta be an excuse for another player. how weird would barbarian assault be without eggs? it'd be like removing the kicker for a football game. sure he's barely used but when he is, he comes at a vital time (and yes it is "possible" for the game to go on without a kicker [don't know about after half time] you could *i guess* make the qb do the kick) go ahead and flame me i don't care. so basically take the eggs out of the game and you got a really weird, pointless game. how the hell are you going to kill the queen then? _i tend to disagree about attackers. you're not paying 100% attention. i sure as hell am not. i basically just kill the rangers then fighters then poof done. right around the time i think the thing's about to change i stop attacking. attackers are usually the first ones done because of how easy it is. _defender is FUN on the last wave. first one done every time on wave 10. the stupid pillars are in the way all the time during the earlier waves making it annoying and cumbersome. _healer is just awesome. the whole "when X doesn't call and you're roll Y it's really annoying" applies to every position. except for maybe collector. all they really gotta do is call and they could fall asleep on the keyboard for all i care. any one can be a collector.
  24. it's a game :-s ? hold on. lemme elaborate on this cause 3 word posts are pointless. giant EDIT: [hide=]you're going to rant on how runescape RUINED your life? because i'm getting that impression. i just... i'm speechless. i say it's a game because quite honestly... i mean what if halo 3 (imo it is) the worst halo out of the series, they ruined the plot, the guns were horrible, it's overhyped, and there's a bunch of *internet word here* infesting the online part of the game. well i'd say 9/25/07- THE DAY HALO DIED. AND I WILL NEVER GET OVER IT. lemme rephrase what i said in the beginning. it's only a game :x . you're really going to make a big stink about how a game has been ruined because of a couple updates? let me tell you something, if there was only a "few" gamers that died from such a scam that you did and also fell for it would not make ANY sense what so ever if jagex listened to only a minority of players instead of the majority. i'd like to say that pre-grand exchange the vast majority of players that played for a year prior, have probably been scammed. yeah they got over it, and i think/hope you did too at the time you fell for one. but lets be honest here, they got over it because they have the common sense to say "hey, i just lost a really important peice to my enjoyment too this game, but oh well! it's only a game and i have plenty of time to get all of my things back!" what i'm seeing from you, is that you demand upon selfish thoughts that the old runescape was "better" and that your experiences applied to every one. well i'm sorry to be the bringer of bad news but your experiences were quite trivial. the old rs as applied to the current one, was full of people who took advantage of you at every moment. they took FULL advantage of the limitless trade. you could buy a guys hard earned dragon chain body (which at the time was very expensive) for 10k if your fingers were quick enough. now tell me- is it fair if i spent countless hours perhaps days at the kalphite queen only too see some one go and take the one item i have to prove for it too take it from me unfairly? let me answer that rhetorical question- NO. if runescape was as it was it'd be dead a year ago. jagex will listen to the majority of players. if the majority of players will maturely say "scamming is a very big problem in runescape, please fix it" then jagex will do it. they [jagex] are not puppets. they are people trying to make their buissiness [game] be enjoyable to every one. and if you can only make it enjoyable too 80% of the people that play rs, then so be it.[/hide]
