No, it needs to be set with filters. How is the person who made that extension going to know what site pop-ups you don't want? ALL Ad-blocks should run at their best, but most of the time they don't. They need to be configured.

Have you checked out your Network configuration? Sometimes it is necessary to get rid of the automatic IP addresses and replace them with made-up static ones, or it could be that the default gateway isn't correcty set... so the connection times out every 5 mins or so (I had the same problem) Or DHCP might be disabled... enable it.

To be fair the Adblock extension isn't anything malicious. It just needs correct configuration to run efficiently.

The drivers will probably need updating, because it looks like your computer isn't communicating with the device thus giving it the ''Unknown'' look. Check out it's manufacturers website.

I would recommend Google mail as well. Besides it giving you much more storage capacity, it also lets you add filters so you can read e-mails sent to your OTHER addresses in Gmail.
