  1. "iwrestledabearonce," "annie goes rawr," (local band) "pungent stench" yeah...it seems the more extreme the music the weirder the names...
  2. Alright, so my band had its first full practice/songwriting session about a week ago. We faced one huge problem: the drums drowned out everything but my amp turned all the way up. So, i need some help with the acoustics. I think it was mainly a problem with area, because we were in a tiny bedroom-turned-drum room, where the sound had no area to dissipate. We eventually resorted to all wearing earplugs and kranking our amps as high as they would go, and even then I had to strain to hear my playing, much less our singer. Is this just because i have a small amp (15 watts to be exact, although it can really scream :D) or would a change of location help? or is our drummer just waaayyy too enthusiastic? Oh, and eventually he is going to buy an electric drumset, which should solve the problem, but thats not for a year, and we don't want to wait... Thanks in advance!
  3. so far ive only written two full songs, the first of which i have pretty much disowned (yeah, it was that horrid), and I'm still getting used to the creative process, but my friend usually gives me some of his poetry and i try to match up or create something that fits the flow of the words. Only thing is, he uses more of a free verse style with his poetry, makes matching tempo weird...if anybody wants to hear our only recorded song just youtube "cupid has deadly aim," the vocals need to be rerecorded, and mah solo at the end was pretty much on the spot improv that i want to go back and fix up, we mainly wanted to get something done to get the process under our belts. I would really appreciate feedback. I'm definitely the theory geek in our little group, so the task of writing guitar parts falls to me, but the song we are currently workin on is almost all by my friend.
  4. whatever you do, dont use steel strings on a classical, my friend ripped his bridge out on his classical because of the increased tension, and my german teacher's neck on her classical is warped all to hell because of the steel strings a student put on there...but a 20 year old guitar? that thing has to sound amazing, if it has aged that long.
  5. all kinds of buckethead :D hes off his rocker, but there is a fine line between genius and insanity, hes on both sides
  6. Well scandinavian food seems to be a pattern, might as well keep it up: Improperly prepared Lutefisk, had it well prepared once, not bad, but the guy cooking it the last time i tried it didnt soak it the seven hours it requires, only about 5 1/2... Also double-salted black licorice...crazy danish... *off topic* since there are so many scandinavian food posts, any fellow norskies out there?
  7. I'm not sure if it was mentioned, but i think it would be useful to point out: The first article's reference to the american revolution is rather flawed. The British government wasn't broken, it was the leaders that were broken, in the same manner that a machine slowly wears down before the parts are replaced. (Anybody who has taken an in depth U.S. History course will agree that it was, in fact, the Americans in the wrong) The rest of the article just came across as preachy and whiny, but wasn't well enough written to pull off the attempt. I do agree with the message, that the players of Runescape need to take a more active approach to the problems of 76k'ers and Merchanting clans, but education is the key to this. Perhaps Tip.it could, as a community, take it upon themselves to educate the common player? Just a thought. Haven't read the second article yet, just wanted to get my thougthts down.
  8. ooh alright, but i dont have salve, would fury make much of a difference?
  9. alright, whats the exp/hr with crawlers?
  10. mmm alright, what about spiders in stronghold of security? i really need an aggresive monster so i can read at the same time... *edit* typos ftl...
  11. why not start a slayer type clan/community thing? choose a world and get a small community gathered, and with enough ppl, odds are your going to have at least one person at a task with you. even then, with a cc you could chat with a bunch of ppl at once. I, for one, would be more than willing to join. Most slayers i meet either have public off, or are jerks when they do talk...
  12. I'm planning on training str (and later attk) at bandits. I need to know: what setup should i use for partial afking? I'm finishing summer reading and want to be able to somewhat leave my character alone, but i will be sitting right at the computer all the time. I have 10m to spend, but i want to retain as much of it as possible in resale value, if at all possible. I was thinking either full guthans with all the accesories, or a SS and non-degrading armor, like a rune plate and d skirt with food. My levels are 75 attk, 74 str, 74 def, and 76 hp. Any comments or questions are appreciated. Ty! Oh, and i don't want to hear that bandits are outdated, i realize this, im comfortable with them though.
  13. I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes: A friend and I recently wrote a few songs and are trying to record them. Acoustic guitar and vocals worked fine, but attempting to use distorted guitar caused problems, namely the recording was overly distorted, and the notes had little if no clarity. [hide=What I've tried]Decreasing distortion Changing amp channels Altering the EQ of my amp Decreasing input volume in recording software Altering distance of mic to amp Plugging amp directly into computer (we have no mixing board yet) Using the noise gate built into my amp[/hide] [hide=Our equipment]Guitar: Laguna LE122 Electric Amp: Line 6 Spider 3 15 watt Not sure on the mic model, but I think it's a dynamic mic, not a compressor Audacity[/hide] Any questions, comments, or feedback are welcome!
  14. alright, ty for the feedback  *edit*how would one go about chinning aviansies? and, with normal means (rune c'bow with mith bolts), are they decent exp?
  15. alright, is there a particular setup for dagganoths? or just cannon, c balls, armor and food?
  16. well, yaks aside...anywhere else i could try?
  17. its old, but bandits with a god item and either guthans or noted food with lots of money
  18. mm...i saw a guide for that, but i thought it only worked on lowly populated worlds?
  19. I really want 70 ranged (black dhide and black sally ftw), but i hate training the skill. So, i thought I would use a cannon. I've used one before at rock crabs, and was pleased with the results, but that was for only about 2 levels (I got bored and didn't want to train to 61). So as for the questions: 1)Where would a good spot for me to train be? I've heard dagganoths are good, and as I mentioned, I've used rock crabs. 2)About how many cannonballs will i use? I need to gain about 342k exp. I'm open to any tips or suggestions.
  20. even if you dont have to finish it, i'd still reccomend it for the pools, even thought the unlimited run pool became a little outdated with the run update, still great for things like tanning
  21. awww...well thx anyways, but now i have to do DT :ohnoes: not for a while though, methinks.
  22. thank you for the feedback, but can somebody else focus the portal for me?
  23. Alright, i recently got a portal room in my house, but, not having the guts to do DT yet, im not on ancient magicks...is it possible to have somebody else focus a portal for me? i really want kharyll tele :P
  24. Me likey :D I think it would be sweet to have archaeology...maybe add Indiana Jones themed quests later? (sorry if it has been already been mentioned, didn't read many of the reply posts) I can see it now...Running through a collapsing dungeon with a T-Rex chasing you, and swinging over a chasm with your abyssal whip. Great idea, you have my support! Oh, and I'm looking forward to astronomy thread, should be as good of a read as this was!
  25. ...wow. You, sir, have my full support. Awesome concept, but i have to agree with everybody else that the boss attacks are a *wee* bit overpowered. I mean, 1 hit KO, even with an hp cape? :ohnoes: Otherwise, this would be the ultimate test of a monster hunting group. My only suggestion would be that, to help survive the numerous levels, allow a way to gather resources, like having a small fishing spot underground, something like that. Or, maybe have cache points where players could make a trip to level one, dump supplies at the point, tele, make at trip to level two, dump, etc. I give a 10/10 Oh, and i luvs Pie :D
