  1. SS over all if you can afford it. Just sayin'. But otherwise, valid advice above.
  2. A spec weapon would be useful there as well. A GS, D mace, or even a barrelchest anchor (wouldn't reccomend this really, but its something) are good/decent crush spec weaps; claws and dds, are good as well. EEE might be a consideration for healing. I've been using the SS down there, and even w/ my nooby stats I've been doing very well (relatively speaking).
  3. I'm sure its been said on every moneymaking post ever...but dailies, MTK, and farming are all awesome ways to add to your gp/hr. Merching is also very, VERY good money once you get a decent cashpile (20m+). Check out the site in my siggeh for a great guide; unfortunately, our forum was hacked, so we don't have any "hot items" up atm. If you want, joing our cc and I can help you out. As for more active means of moneymaking, try dragons, barrows, picking mort myre fungi, snape grass, or slayer. I don't think Iron dragons would be worth it, but you can always try them out. Oh, and bosshunting is an option if you have the levels.
  4. I'm assuming by Knowledge base you mean the RS knowledge base. These are notoriously unreliable; I've always heard that barrows is 15 hours of constant combat (hypothetically, you could hit a chicken and then not attack again, and in 15 hours your armor would be gone). As for the battle robe/ahrim's, they probably DO degrade at a different rate; they are, after all, two totally different peices of equipment. I'm too nooby for everything else, can't help you there.
  5. Gold ores with gauntlets = 1.60 gp/exp @ 80k exp/h Superheating gold ores = 4.12 gp/exp @ 104k exp/h Superheating and smelting = 3.00 gp/exp @ 153k exp/h Mining gold and superheating @ LRC = 0.43 gp/exp @ 48k exp/h Again, all taken from Grimy's spreadsheets. Sacred clay hammers would halve the gp/exp, but the time to get them cancels the time saved so if it you enjoy SC, it can be handy. Also, you'll need 88 smithing to do addy plates which means you'll have to get a few levels first. If you can find a skilling clan, you can usually get up to 4-5 hammers an hour (10-15 minutes/match, usually about 3-5 in between). Worth it IMO.
  6. Nice guide, Loffe! Shame I can't use this, my levels are all too low :/ If I ever get them, however, I will be sure to try this!
  7. This is all good, but if you are a (kitty) like me, I find that using v skirt and brassy, neit helm, infinity boots, best ammy and gloves, god cape (the one w/ the mage bonus, might be cloak :/ ) and a black sally is good enough for all the brothers except ahrim, who you can use a whip and dds/claws/other spec weapon and your best defender against. It's simpler, albeit less efficient (as anathemic as that may be to some people). I, even with my relatively poor stats the last time I did barrows (I've been merching and dungeoneering since, and have improved my stats since), was able to manage 2-3 runs per inventory. You may add guthans in there to heal with, as well. Edit - I prayed against all the brothers except guthan and torag, and used mage sally attack against all the brothers except ahrim, who I meleed. Again, this is a bit more costly, but you retain the normal spellbook, and its simpler. Oh, and bring a holy wrench if you are praying. And in a slight tangent, don't forget to merch/farm/mtk while you are doing this, makes your gp/hr better.
  8. I imagine that, if your ring is set to a high enough tiered desperado, then the added damage would compensate for the lower accuracy, even disregarding the increase in speed. So, if you haven't, spent a couple thousand tokens on upgrading your ring; I didn't think it was worth it, but that was before I got tier 7 zerker :P
  9. Not to jack the thread, but why not use urns? Won't they boost experience?
  10. I'm not an expert hunter by any means, but...from what I understand, don't do red chins. They tend to be the mix between exp and gp (rather than just exp), and are VERY hard to find an open world, even more so now with the botting community in full force. As for black sallys, they are located in the wilderness, but if you are willing to risk that, I imagine they would be better experience. Not sure though. Hope that helps somewhat :/
  11. I think the issue is the idea of exclusion, and lost opporunity. The idea that you can NEVER get that item ever again...that's the issue. I remember when a friend told me I had missed a holiday event (it was B.S.). Even though it was a really small thing, the idea that I had missed out on something was not a good feeling. Jagex really is bum(mining) us with this.
  12. Who has two thumbs and is going to start training in the LRC? *Points* THIS GUY! Sweet discovery, this is going to definitely increase competition at certain training spots.
  13. Also, the beauty of merching is that, if you use overnight flipping (as I do), it's often a "fix n'forget" moneymaker. I've made several mil over the last few days with about an hour of play time, tops. So, you can invest, then go off and kill green drags and REALLY make bank. Combine this with MTK, the dailies, and farming, and you're probably pretty set.
  14. Just wished to clarify my comments...didn't want to cause a flame war. It was not homosexual, just male prostitutes. BBC Article And sorry I elaborated to such a great extent...I was tired, frustrated with my apparent insomnia, and trying to kill time. So, I'll add insomnia to that list
  15. Go to the link in my siggy, Rune-tips has a very good guide on merching and flipping. Our forums got hacked recently (some stupid wannabe Lulz hackers), so we don't have any Hot Items available at the moment, but if you join our cc ("Rune Tips Cc" without quotes) and tell them that I sent you, I'm sure somebody will be able to help you out with some good items. Please read the guide first, though; and, if you like what you see, feel free to join and help contribute when we get up and running again! Hope this doesn't count as advertising too much :ohnoes:
  16. People who attempt to use science to corroborate religion, and vice versa. Science deals solely with the physical world, religion with the spiritual; to use the tired cliche, one cannot complare apples to oranges. So please stop trying to say God, Vishnu, and Thor didn't exist because of X/Y/Z, and that the big bang never happened or that the earth is only six thousand years old because of A/B/C because they are entirely different entities of thought. People who claim to have "proved" something (this goes with the above statement). Nothing may ever be conclusively proven to an absolute; alternate perceptions, explanations, interpratations, or unknown information can, at any time, suggest otherwise. One can never prove anything, merely show that, based on the current evidence, it is the best possible explanation. People who think that because science can't ever "prove" anything means you can't trust it. Sure, new data or trends may arise that suggest a different reality at some time in the future, but were it not for the acceptance of current (and past) explanations, nothing you have today would be possible. Sometimes the wrong awnser advances science more than the right awnser (relatively speaking, of course). People who have no real background in music judging any artist or genre; if you don't understand WHY you (don't) like them, please quit trying to discuss it with me, I'm tired of hearing "They just suck." No, they "suck" because the extent of their musical knowledge is a I-iv-IV-V in 4/4, and nothing else. Ever. Or, "It's just noise." No, its a highly complex, multi-metered peice with very dissonant progressions. Learn your (cabbage) before attempting to domineer my views on music. Anybody who disrespects anybody's sexual orientation (science has suggested its NOT a choice, but, of course, see above), sexual activities (be they solo, partnered, or with a plethora of partners), lack of sexual activities, or just anybody who has called somebody a "prude," a "(sexually active female)," a "player," etc. because of frustration, discomfort, or arrogance; so long as these actions (or lack thereof) have been a concious, well thought deciscion on the part of the individual(s) involved; excepting, of course, sexual orientation (as I said above). People who feel the need to enforce their political, economic, or theological ideologies on you; No, I don't agree with you, the only ideology that ought to be enforced is freedom of practice and thought, excepting practices which prevent freedom of practice and thought (as hypocritical as that sounds) or prevent the "life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness" by others. People who think that the IB program is a UN plot for one world government because it teaches global awareness. Liberal Elitists. Conservative Elitists. People who think that seperation of church and state is only to protect the church. Yes, democratic principles may allow for a religious majority to enforce laws that are based in their theology; but ultimately this is a democracy, not a theocracy. The pope. Sorry, condoms shouldn't just be for "homosexual male prostitutes," because those aren't the only people who spread HIV. Hipsters. Racists. You fail to realize your hate stems not from superiority, but, rather, your discomfiture and insecurity around somebody different from you, and that you feel you must domineer another to ensure your "high" place in the world. Doesn't matter if you are white, black, hispanic, whatever. Hackers who do it "for the lulz" when its really not that funny...there's a time and a place, but its not every time and place. People who fail to recognize that the "left/right" spectrum in politics tends to be based around economica and moral/religious choices, and that the authoritarian/anarchist spectrum determines the level of governmental oversight in things. Conservatives can have big government, liberals can advocate little government oversight, stop (female dog)ing about liberal "big government" and conservative "deregulation." Ghandi was a liberal anarchist, Bush was an Authoritarian Conservative (not to compare the two, one deserves much more credit than the other). Parents who don't want their kids reading a certain book or learning certain things because they feel it might be "corrupting." Guess what, helicopter parents: You can either let your kid learn to let new thoughts wash up on their shores and CHOOSE to accept or refute them, or risk total rebellion and possible death/dismemberment/abuse/immorality because they saw you weren't always right. Generally speaking, people who fail to recognize that, ultimately, we are all humans, with the same basic needs and desires, and that these societal, political, and economic manifestations of our interpretations of how we ought to pursue these aims should not alienate us, nor encourage hostility. My lack of ability to sleep at 1:30 in the morning, forcing me to rant about my distate for individuals and/or groups. Damn, I'm eloquent when I'm tired.
  17. Apparently Anonymous has been harrasing the police and the three girls after they tracked down their information. One of the few times I agree with Anon... Seriously though, as a high schooler who often associates with middle schoolers (bus rides ftl...), I CAN say that kids, by that age, understand certain consequences, especially when it is a case of nudity, molestation, etc. The double standard stems, I think, from a deep current of puritanism that has existed in this country since the Puritans themselves lived here. Nobody wants to touch the topic of sex, gender identity, gender roles or what ever else might be considered "sexual" and therefore "indecent." Therefore, boys (who see, from the time they are old enough to watch TV, the strong, idealized male as one who can get laid every night) percieve and are perceived differently than girls (who, by the same channel of communication, see that the idealized woman is one who both is chaste AND promiscuous). This has been beaten into us since we were little. Everything from the clothes we are made to wear (see here for more information), to the toys we play with (G.I. Joe as the ideal man, Barbie as the ideal woman) enforce these gender norms. These then manfiest themselves at an older age. Boys are considered "pathetic," "nerdy," etc. if they aren't banging some girl; yet, girls are "[bleep]," "[bleep]s" and what have you if they do and "prudes" if they don't. On a hormonal level, this is caused by the difference in testosterone levels, which have been linked to overt sexual actions and sexual aggresiveness, as well as risk taking. Considering all of this, it is really no surprise this happened like it did. Many phsycologists believe that women do, in fact, rape and molest, but not quite as frequently as men. This is because men tend to: one, be more directly aggresive in sexual endeavors; and two, are more willing to take the risk that is molestation, rape, or even consentual sex. As far as the legality goes, I think that the girls are old enough to warrant legal action (again, this goes back to my personal experience with children that age; they DO know). I know boys at my school that have been prosecuted and sentenced for possesion of child pornograhpy (pics of their girlfriends, their friends' girlfriends, etc.). I've yet to see one case ANYWHERE that a girl has been prosecuted for production and distribution; or a boy for the same should he send the images (which does happen rarely; men are visual creatures, however, and desire images of nudity more than women). It's a sad, disgusting quagmire that exists in our culture that needs to be adressed...I personally always make a point to view any sexually active girl that is honest about her activies and desires with respect; and any girl that is what I call a "closet [bleep]" (I use the offensive term intentionally here) with disrespect. Also, I have no respect for the guys that brag about the girls they've had, or disrespect "prude" or "[bleep]ty" girls; but respect guys who are honest and, most importantly, RESPECTFUL of their partner(s). Would it be too much to ask for every other person to do the same?
  18. I can't really comment on the first article, due to my lack of experience with some of the quests, but it does seem pretty accurate from what I HAVE seen. And as short as ernest the chicken? Really? That's really, really bad. The second article is very disjointed. I don't think that the author realizes that the hacks that occured at these major companies were very sophisticated, high end deals; I seriously doubt somebody would put that much effort into hacking an rs account (excepting, perhaps, a merch pure with multiple maxed cash piles, something along those lines; of which, I, nor most of Runescape players, are). The real issue is that, should a hack like that occur to Jagex, the passwords, personal information, credit card information, etc., of hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of players could be compromised. Then, our REAL money could be at stake, and numerous accounts could be lost. This is, of course, assuming that somebody would do that. I remember reading in a newspost (can't remember when) that Jagex uses a very sophisticated, above standard encryption program to prevent just that, and that all password and especially credit card entries use a secure connection and are encrypted thusly. This further adds to the security. So, all in all, I can't see it becoming a huge issue; worst case scenario, Jagex would likely freeze all accounts until the issue had been solved. As for the last article, the high melee defences on melee armor versus ranged and magic armour arise, somewhat logically, from the ability of the archer or mage to attack from a distance. Mages have the ability to freeze their opponents to prevent them from moving, rangers lack this; but, I think that these statistics were implemented with PvM combat, not so much PvP, in mind. This is because many melee (emphasis on the melee here) monsters can be safespotted in some way. So, as far as PvP goes, it is somewhat unbalanced (although I'm terrible at PvP, so I'm a little less credible on the subject), but in PvM, there is some logic.
  19. Set up a tv (or your computer near your tv) and watch movies; netflix would probably help this. Since cooking require minimal attention, you could focus primarily on the movies, and the 1-2+ hrs (and several 100k xp) will whiz by.
  20. Ah, yes, I did forget to mention that. This means that it will primarily be for merching accounts or as a flip for some profit by the buyer.

I recently purchased an ogleroot off of a friend, smuggled out of vinesweeper. The bug has since been patched, and so no new items can enter the game. I would like to emphasize the fact that I did not abuse the bug; it was from a friend who has a friend (so he claims, at least). This is legitimate, and it's not a "shrunken ogleroot" which can be purchased on the GE; this is the ogleroot that came from the minigame itself. Would anybody be interested in purchashin the item, and for how much? Pm me at "haaa haaa0" in game to arrange a meeting, etc, or post here if I'm not on. Edit: did some more research, found out they aren't worth anything (500gp ea or so). So be forewarned if you see people trying to pass these off.
  22. [spoiler=Long Quote] Did you read the article? TLDR; Botting is causing deflation. Yes, I did. The posts went slightly astray, as I'm referring to the articles within the last 9-12 months. Here's a little topic for you: In RuneScape, which is worse: Inflation or Deflation? Neither are actually particularly damaging, except when they are rampant. As long as values inflate or deflate at a regular rate, then players are able to cope and plan for the flucuations; this massive crash is an example of hyper-deflation, and proved damaging to some peoples net value (my own included). On top of this, prices were thrown out of wack due to fears and speculation of where the prices would finally settle. Like all things, though, it has started calming down and Runescape is returning to business as usual.
  23. You'll have to do it the old fashion way, cruise the forums and check the going rate for whatever you want to buy. Head to World 2 Fally Park to see if you can snipe a good deal or head over the Grand Exchange if you don't want to world hop. I'm excited to not be able to buy items immediately and for player interaction to finally return to this game! Yup, standing around world 2 Fally for hours on end trying to make yourself seen through the hordes of autotalkers sure is fun! /sarcasm. So then pay the extra money and use the GE. I believe the GE will still have "recommended" prices that will flucuate, it will just be much more fluid in its shifts. I just wonder if the GE will update every day like it does now...either way, I don't think it will affect prices *too* much, prices will shift around and then settle at equilibrium prices. Of course, I cant wait to see all the rich junk traders lose half their worth when junk items tank to practically nothing XP
  24. minigames... Not just for fun, but as a viable and truly entertaining way to train skills. Something like SC, but with longer game times and where winnning is a slight incentive rather than the main point, and where good experience can be earned ingame without the need for rewards. Then, at least, good experience could be earned without click, click, wait, click, click, wait.
  25. perhaps slide the exp req for levels and increase the level cap, so that if you have lvl 99 you now have 120, keepin the lvl req's for actions the same and adding higher level content to the 99-120 gap?
