  1. Terrorbirds do fail in combat but they hold 12 extra food/pots/loot making them invaluable to slayers and campers. Without Terrorbirds I would struggle to pick up all runes during a Spiritual Mage trip but I can put 12 prayer pots in one and collect all the loot, replacing pots from the bird as I go. I need more than 1 pouch for this obviously but it saves throwing stuff away.
  2. They are always aggro and attack with mage and melee. However they won't use mage unless you attack them, as they are always aggro you won't need to attack them so don't worry about the mage aspect. I wear prayer gear and melee with prayer pots. I'm reasonable new to the Dark Beasts myself so may be a better way but here is what I take with me and my terrorbird: 3 super attacks 3 super strengths Approx 12 prayer pots (still haven't got it sussed exactly) 3 terrorbird pouches 1 summoning pot 6 mourner gear Alch runes Slayer tele This is good for approx 100 kills Make sure you have mourner gear on and no weapon/shield/ammy and go to West Ardy. Get new key from desk and use it on door. Go through and drop key. Change into your combat gear and go west. Protect melee and let them attack you. There is a multi area, dunno if cannons are an option or if they would all mage you, never bothered to check it out. EDIT: Seems to be people thinking there is no multi so I will give directions. When you get into the chamber go North, these are the ones added with the Dark Bow and are multi. The old beasts are in single combat to the West. They are awesome combat and slayer XP and drop some pretty good alchable stuff although rarely it seems. I've never had a dark bow drop in 4 tasks. They also drop a lot of blue charms but not in any large amount (10/100 kills it seems)

I reckon you'll be OK. Wear Karils/Black D-Hide and pray range. Your mage is medium so shouldn't have too many issues. Make sure you use a crush weapon though. You will need food, but maybe a regen bracelet will help. Also worth noting Guthans DOES work as it has a crush option. The waterfiends use range 7/10 so you should be fine Guthaning back up.
  4. I melee them in Karils whilst praying melee. Use super set and antifire pot then about 2-3 prayer pots. Then a full inven of sharks with terrorbird pouch. I get 7-8 kills usually but I only ever train on them if I'm there for slayer so I have the slayer helm bonus.
  5. They are not good though. You're better off with a Bunyip/Terrorbird for the vast majority of everything training wise. Combat familiars are only going to come into there own in PvP. In training by the time the familiar gets a hit in you've already killed the monster and you've sacrificed extra space / healing.
  6. To be honest Dharoks isn't that good for XP and is pretty risky whichever way you do it. Plus it is slow. Just use the Ape Atoll Gorillas with all ya best gear and some super pots and super anti's. You can constantly pray melee and piety and hit hard and fast. The gorillas heal themselves too so it's ideal.

Yeah its a profit. Same XP as high alching, a bit slower, but you will make some cash with it. I did it for a bit, got bored very easily though.
  8. I always get called a noob when I bust out my cannon at Dags. At the end of the day I prefer getting it over with in 20 minutes even if it is costing me 200k. I can make that 200k back 6 times over with a whip drop so it all balances at the end of the day. Plus high slayer XP is not nooby so why should cannoning tasks be?
  9. If he only wants 52 then it's an option.
  10. Your best option if you just want crimsons are waterfiends but you are going to have to train. First of all you need black dragonhide or Karils. 70 range isn't hard to achieve, you could even range greaters in the Ogre Enclave and telegrab the few Crimsons you will get. Then you need protect from range prayer. Then you need a weapon with a crush option, dragon even rune scimmy will suffice. You won't get many kills per trip but you will get a Crimson most kills. Or you could just use gold charms. Albeit slower summoning XP, if you only want 52 summoning then using just gold is feasible, then you can camp at Fire Giants.
  11. Armour for summons is kinda pointless. Most familiars have uber high def and HP. I've never had one die on me, although I came close with a Terrorbird against Spiritual Mages. I don't see how you've never had one die... I go through 2 spirit dags/task at mages. I always wondered why they had such pathetic magic defense...anyone know if wolpertingers or fire titans stand up better against magic attacks?(can't think of any other magic based familiars). Looking at your stats I dunno why as ours are similar, mine are a little higher but I've been slaying mages for months. Terrorbird gets a few hits, usually in the mid teens but usually I kill the mage in 3-4 hits so it's on me mostly. The mages only ever attack the familiar if the familiar is attacking them first.
  12. Yes, it's good for raising combat and Slayer. But if charms are specifically what you are after, Slayer is much slower than just using a good charms monster. But then you're not maximising your XP. I prefer getting slayer, combat, HP and charms.
  13. Like I said it's a very thin line. There is nothing wrong in you telling your mates which items to buy to make profit on. However if you're all rich and are doing it intently then it's wrong. How you differenciate between the two though is open to interpetation and isn't easy to prove.
  14. Veracs was a popular merchanting set. Now they cannot be merchanted as much there is more in stock so people are able to buy them. Sounds a bit confusing so I will try to explain more in depth. Previously a rich player could have a GE offer in for infinate Verac sets and/or parts of it. Therefore anything sold went to them, and no-one else could buy. Then when the price had risen enough they could mass sell for a huge profit. Now they cannot have an offer in for that many so anything sold is more likely to go to other players. As one person isn't hording the gear the price is going to lower. Same goes for all Barrow items sadly.
  15. Armour for summons is kinda pointless. Most familiars have uber high def and HP. I've never had one die on me, although I came close with a Terrorbird against Spiritual Mages.
  16. Even low level combat familiars are useful to a point. Take the 79 summoning Fire Titan. Max hit 15. May seem small, but if you think your fighting melee with someone protecting against melee, 15 hits via magic is going to make an impact in the fight. Basically they allow you to fight with 2 combat styles at the same time. Sweet.
  17. Steel titan would be pure ownage. Just imagine your chopping a tree and you do get sprung on by another high level. The look on his face when you bust out a steel titan and use the scroll would be priceless. A possible 96 hit

Not really, better off with super energy. Trouble is with wildy is the risk of being killed by Revs. Dunno if familars will work there, they don't at Ape Atoll.
  19. The difference between merchanting and price manipulation is infact very very small. The average merchanter isn't rich enough to manipulate prices. It's a case of buy 10k yew logs, wait until they rise then sell for a profit. 10k yew logs isn't effecting the community. Now think if you had endless mountains of cash. You could easily buy 50mil yew logs to make more profit. This is still merchanting, but has the effect of price manipulation. If you and your friends clubbed togehter to buy up all stock then that is price manipulation. Price manipulation is very hard to prove, and this is probably the reason why Jagex have not made a rule against it. It is also worth pointing out that most merchanters are not guilty of price manipulation, the sheer volume of money needed excludes a good percentage of the population and yet again it's the select few who ruin the game for everyone else.

I agree. Wildy is best until 70 when Ape Atoll becomes bearable.

Aviansies are the best way if you want it cheap. You can also try Blue Dragons in Taverely. I got my range level (79 currently) mostly from cannoning slayer tasks but cannons are a money sink mostly (Ice trolls may get you profit) Chinning is the best range XP but exepensive
  22. They also drop rune kites which help as well. Abby Spectres also work out as a profit I hear but you have to bank often.
  23. As previously advised sell your cannon and get your whip back. Slayer only becomes profitable at higher levels 65+ and even then it's not a definate income, just enough to tide you over. Once you hit the big levels, 83+ you can then afford to start cannoning some tasks as the occasional drag boots/whip drop will pay for a round or two on cannon balls. At your levels you need a money making side. MTK worked for me, I was able to turn 525k into just over a million per week then live off the 600k. MTK isn't as good these days, but you can still profit. You can also try merchanting, or like people said herb farming. You want something you can do quickly and easily, so you can get back to slaying asap.
  24. Battlestaves give good XP and profit but it is almost impossible to "power" craft using these as battlestaves are expensive if bought on the GE so you need to rely on the stuff from Zaff, which is limited to max 64 per day (if you have Varrock diary 3). Cowhides are still effective but slowish. However you can use the hard bodies for junk trading if you're that way inclined. Otherwise stick to making green dragonhide stuff and selling in GE.
  25. Spot on. You can only use junk trading as a viable option if you already have the junk. If you are buying junk then you may as well sell for a lower price. Alternativley you need to have the extra cash you want "spare" in order to invest in items for skilling. You then also need to have the time to skill and actually want to skill, as there are better money making options.
