Try and type without looking at the keyboard.
hiqls u dsi> That was meant to read 'How did I do?' Looks like I'm not the material for typing anything without looking at the keyboard, really. Oh well, maybe with practice I can do it.

Archive - Introduce Yourself
Greetings Earthlings! (Don't be alarmed by that, I'm joking :D ) I'm a teenager who is obsessed with games, particulary online ones. As you can guess, I enjoy RuneScape, as I find it to be my biggest challenge, both in patience and gameplay. I reside in a certain country in Great Britain, enjoy reading and writing, nagging people because of their grammar ( ), and surfing the Internet. I dislike all sports except golf and tennis, go out little, and am very unsocial ( :( ). Fortunately, you fellows seem to be very nice, and I hope to get along with most people in this community. Oh, and my RuneScape name is King Wenlok (pronounced 'When-low' if you are wondering). That's all from me for now.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
Is it possible that there is something behind that 'weird looking tapestry?' Like, for example, a storage of summoning runes? Barely anyone goes down there, so it would be a logical place for Grayzag to store all these runes. Slowly he may be getting ready to summon bigger and more powerful things than imps (like the mentioned Lesser Demon in the cage). Another curious thing to add to that would be the skeleton. Even after the Restless Ghost quest, it is still there. Unless it's a thing Jagex forgot to take care of, why would you have a skeleton next to an altar to Saradomin? Does not only Zamorak crave death and destruction? And another thing- didn't the ghost say that a warlock had stolen his skull? Now, how many warlocks in the Wizard Tower or associated with it do we know? Yep- Grayzag and Maliginus. Now that would make a lot of sense. The Wise Old Man is not only motivated by greed, but by jealousy as well. Maybe he tires of his brother always being better than him, the King is a king, and he gets to be leader of a secret society that worships Saradomin blah blah blah, wouldn't a lot of us be a bit annoyed if our brother was like that? We can gather that the WOM has a bad temper (remember the bank robbery?) and something like this would surely give him enough fuel to murder. But another thing- what if Grayzag also wants to kill the King, but not for the WOM's motives, instead for summoning experience. Maybe he has enough power now to summon the Lesser out of the cage, and will use that to kill the King? The WOM and Grayzag have the same goals (killing the King), so I would imagine they end up fighting each other, with one of them dieing and the other escaping. If it is Grayzag that lives, I think he will return to Maliginus, telling him of his newly advanced summoning power that allows him to summon beings beyond Lessers, but Maliginus betrays him, kills him, and steals all his summoning power so that he can awake an army of the dead, and destroy all of RuneScape. Nah, let's have Opus Penguin. Kidding.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
That could actually be quite possible. Could Traiborn be the real WOM, but instead had his mind a bit muddled by evil WOM? Then again, if the WOM was evil, how would he use a Saradomin Strike? :-k I still however think this has something to do with an evil plot to bring down RuneScape between Grayzag and Maliginus using the power of summoning runes. And I think this thing they want to summon is a powerful agent of Zamorak. I deleted the quotes in this post. I think some people would have been getting annoyed with having to scroll so far. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
He could have a brother who is just as wise as him, and able to do what he does and give what he gives. Jagex could probably do anything with the WOM and find a way around it.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
there are a lot more of interesting points, but i cant be bothered copying them First: I know I could have put all these posts together, but I'm too lazy, lol. Alright, on topic now... Dionysus is the Greek God of parties. Jagex usually uses names from history for their NPCs. Could Dionysius have lived a similar life to Dionysus? Here's a link to wikipedia's version of Dionysus. Click here God of parties? Could that be anything to do with the WOM's party hat? He seems to be rather fond of it... maybe for other reasons than that it costs millions? It might relate to his history. Perhaps he worshipped Dionysus before he worshipped Saradomin? I doubt it. Since when did Greek gods come to rs? I think he's just a copy of Dionysus or one of the other names. (I re-edited the post and added what Dionysius came up with) Kind of like the brothers south of Rimmington. I think Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo were two of their names. Since when were evil chickens worshipped by certain covens? I think anything can happen in a game. I mean, the WOM could end up being a follower of Zamorak and kill everything in the game. Haahaa, maybe Jagex is saving this quest for the downfall of Runescape and the opening of a new game, lol. Maybe they'll say, "The Wise Old Man was a double agent for Zamorak and after winning trust from his equals, he betrayed his new friends and destroyed Runescape. Not to worry though, Guthix was able to create a new world where all your accounts will be transferred. No items nor experience will be lost during the voyage to the new land. On this island live new monsters, new items, and new quests awaiting to be discovered. As proof of your voyage over, we will give you a medal of achievement." Lol, that's just my thoughts. That made me chuckle. But you could be right. Wouldn't that just be the biggest turnaround ever? :XD: In the response to the post above me, maybe the Wine Guy is actually a cleverly planted agent of Grayzag? Maybe he is going to team up with the Wise Old Man, but at the last second, betrays him and pours wine on the fire made by the tinderboxes, thus blowing up the whole Wizard's Tower, but first allowing Grayzag to escape with the runes. But the WOM is trapped and dies in the explosion.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
Firstly, I congratulate you on finding this evidence. =D> And I've also thought of another theory- could Mizgog and Maliginus be plotting together to bring down the Tower using summoning spells? Maybe the penguins are concerned for the safety of the Tower, so they sent the Wise Old Man over to stop Maliginus and Mizgog. Perhaps Mizgog had stored fake Life Runes in his bank for Maliginus, and the Wise Old Man went out to take them from him, via robbing the bank. So that's why he grumbles about needing runes! He needs to take those summoning runes from Mizgog! But, I also think that Mizgog will summon the Lesser out it's prison so it rampages through the Tower. Maybe he will also send in an imp army? This could be why the WOM has all those tinderboxes- he wants to blow up the summoning runes, as they may only be able to be destroyed a specific way. Little imps using tinderboxes :P That just sounds funny, heehee. I don't think WOM has any motive to destroy summoning runes. Maybe he might summon that guy who's skull is in the wiz tower? I don't think the quest told us who that ghost was. It might be a dedicated warrior of one of the gods? If the summoning runes are used to summon something evil and dark, then the WOM would have a lot of motive for destroying them. As a follower of Saradomin, he wants to make sure that no evil of Zamorak should walk the Earth. If Grayzag and Maliginus are planning to summon this... 'thing'... the WOM would obviously want to stop it happening. Hmm, what are the odds on a WOM V Grayzag showdown? ETA: Thanks for that. Hmm, if the penguins are going to fight the kalphites, they'll need a rather big army if they are all Level 2's won't they?

"Sweet Sixteen"
It was a quite good, but the writer should remember to check for any grammar or spelling mistakes. Writing mistakes can make a story rather difficult to read, as it distracts the readers attention. I also found it didn't have much rhythm, and it didn't really feel like a poem to me. It would have been better off written as a story.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
Kalphite... f2p... they don't really mix according to jagex  Well, they can always make exceptions. They have the power to. But it was an unlikely idea anyway. What level are kalphites? They might be too high for the theory to hold, as I hear that penguins are only a level 2. Oh, and I was talking about the wrong wizard! It's actually Grayzag who seems to be evil, not Mizgog. Apologies if I confused anyone, I'm just awful at names. #-o

Now that is very believable... Here's why: Firstly, I congratulate you on finding this evidence. =D> And I've also thought of another theory- could Mizgog and Maliginus be plotting together to bring down the Tower using summoning spells? What do you collect (+ pics)
I used to collect bones and skulls (I had something like 1000 bones and 100 skulls at one time). But then I decided to boost up my prayer experience, so I buried all my bones. Then I tossed all the skulls into the stone circle at Varrock. You should have seen the amount of newbies that tried to get the skulls... they thought they were valuable. Anyway, nowadays I don't collect anything really, save anything shiny, like gold bars and coins...

Investigating the Wise Old Man
Could this 'agent' have been trapped within the Wizard's Tower forever as a ghost, and is tricking the penguins in order to escape? Maybe the penguins think (maybe after reading some cleverly planted book by Mizgog?) that removing it of it's ghostly form will destroy it forever. But instead it causes it to take a physical form, allowing it to destroy RuneScape. Maybe they intend to tap into the magic of the Ghostspeak Amulet and actually reverse it to use it to still the 'agent's' tongue forever, causing the 'agent' to disappear, but instead it actually gives the 'agent' strength.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
I've just thought of something... what if Mizgog has Life Runes and is attempting to summon the most powerful agent of Zamorak? Then again... who is the most powerful agent of Zamorak? :-s Hmmm... maybe this will end up with a Penguin VS Kalphites war judging by the evidence, with this 'agent' fighting for the Kalphite Army, whilst the Wise Old Man fights for the Penguin Army. Now that would be entertainment.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
Maybe someone should get a screenshot of where it says that? He is the Wise Old Man. I'm sure he has done his fair share of adventuring. Oh, and I didn't have a clue what a kalphite was until you told me (thanks by the way!), but now it seems more likely that it is a kalphite rather than a penguin. Was that huge bug the WOM was seen fighting in that cutscene in the 'Swan Song quest' quest a kalphite? If so, maybe it is a baby kalphite under his bed. He probably keeps it there because it may be of use. What use it is, I don't know. ETA: Maybe this penguin thing is a red herring, and Jagex has been drawing us slowly away from the truth of the WOM all along? Good luck. :D I'll get the screenies of the books on monday. He's written more in the book since I last read it, so it's kind of like a journal to him :P Maybe the kalphites dug a tunnel to draynor which will be released for p2p users in a future quest? : Oh thanks, I'm sure we all look forward to them. :D Hmmm, are you implying a kalphite assault on Draynor? Now, that would make a good quest. If it is going to be a quest, I hope it's Free To Play.

Begger noobs.
It's actually quite possible to get as far as you can go in the Wilderness without meeting another player. I've done it loads of times. It is actually far more dangerous going back though the Wilderness, as you are likely to take a wrong turning and end up in the middle of a PK war. I did once get caught up in a band of 20 on 20. Ended up that they all got bored of fighting each other and decided to charge at me. Then a demon came and whacked them over the head, allowing me to escape. :D Anyway, you can actually also lead beggars into the Wilderness to get them away from you, but it usually requires them to temporarily leave the computer for a few seconds then come back (not likely) or for them to just be so excited at the prospect of getting something valuable from you that they simply click 'X' on the Wilderness warning screen without even looking at it. Then they die in the fray, and serve them right. I once saw a beggar being lured into the Wilderness and then hit by a Fire Bolt.

Begger noobs.
I do the same as the original poster most of the time. Take them to the stone circle near Varrock that is. One time I had around twenty beggars following me around and begging for money. Then I led them to the stone circle. Oh, the slaughter.

favorite place to hang out in RS?
I usually walk around in the forested areas of the Wilderness. It's fun to see people scream when I jump out at them from behind atree. It's also good for teaching them to use that mini-map thing to check if someone is drawing close to them. I also rather like the ice mountain near the Dwarven Stronghold. It's rather a nice place to set up a fire and cook stuff on it. Reminds me a bit of Lord of the Rings.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
Probably is. But wasn't it also mentioned that it was something else? Oh, what was the name... a kalphite? I'm unsure... :-k Also, as previously said by KCHughes, it could be a penguin using mind control on the WOM. And wasn't there something said earlier about a blimp on a table in the WOM's house, and that the penguin could have used it as transportation? I think we can gather that penguins are in some way associated with the story of the Wise Old Man, but in what way, I think shall remain a mystery until Jagex releases the information. Oh, and just something else: are there any anagrams of 'Wise Old Man?' Just curious, you know...

Investigating the Wise Old Man
I highly doubt this, because there are some wizard's that are trustworthy enough to be believable, like Seridor (or something like that name). That Mizgog fellow on the other hand... he might be a follower of Zamorak, as he is a master of imps, and imps are demons. He also seems to spend a lot of time with that Lesser in the prison. Maybe there is no item, and all the penguins want to destroy is Mizgog? Perhaps he is more powerful than we thought? You don't suppose there is going to be a penguin VS imp war, do you? Hmmm, the endless possibilities... each question answered only summons more questions. :-k

Investigating the Wise Old Man
My apologies, I misinterpreted your post. They might be followers of Saradomin and need the Wise Old Man to help them destroy whatever lurks beneath the Tower, because he is the only one powerful enough to do so. Of course, something might be triggered by the destruction of this item, and you could be right- they could launch an attack, but not to take over Runescape, they instead need to destroy the thing triggered by the destruction of this item. Probably some great Level 1000 monster will come and rain armageddon down upon RS. This could also end up being a quest, where all players (member or non member) must join together with the penguins in order to defeat the menace that threatens to destroy all of RS caused via the destruction of this item. But why destroy it in the first place, I ask myself? Probably whatever this monster is needs to be completely dead in order for the citizens to rest in peace. But of course, the wizards may not know the true intentions of the penguins, and may think they or the WOM may seek to kill everyone in RS. As I was saying, he may be high on the runes that are available to us, but maybe those are not the runes he needs, therefore he is low on these specific runes (which I like to call 'special runes') that may aid him on destroying this thing of darkness that lurks that lurks beneath the Tower. I mean, after the raid of Zamorak minions on the old Tower, who knows what they may have left behind?

Investigating the Wise Old Man
If penguins are the masters of RS then that makes me taking it over a whole lot easier... :D Anyway, on topic- what if there is a Free to Play Quest which involves exploring the ruins of the old Wizard Tower? Maybe that will reveal the truth behind what the Wise Old Man wants? I have a feeling that something of Zamorak lurks beneath, and that the Wise Old Man must destroy it, even if it means the death of loads of people. That would explain the bank robbery- he needed special runes to get into this old Wizard Tower! But he must not have found these special runes, so he has to steal them off the Wizard's! And maybe he has those tinderboxes to blow this thing of Zamorak's to smithereens! Okay, I think I got too excited.
