  1. I prefer to look on the bright side: looks like Ill have $60-70 to spend on something else next year.
  2. To be honest, the petition was supposed to end on January 14. However, the results were pretty obvious, so Jagex did the referendum. I think the 'closing date' will be arbitrary. Since it's apparently a landslide, it probably won't last very long. It does need to last long enough to get a representative sample. It is Xmas weekend after all, and people will be AFK. You will need to see a large enough sample of the current player base. Look at the vote totals - about 65,000 as I speak. 88% of that is about 57,000 yes votes. Is that enough to bring it back?
  3. I do find it odd that theres no closing date for this election.
  4. This is what I see on my bank statement: CheckCard Purchase Info.Runescape. 7994 Cambridge 5264 5.95 The "CheckCard Purchase" means it wasn't a PIN based transaction.
  5. Uh, we didn't stand as a whole against Jagex back in Dec '07. We were really divided back then, moreso than now, and the people who agreed with Jagex were probably in the majority, or at least they were making the more reasoned arguments. This time, there's no debate, only one condition; If Jagex can fight the horde of cheaters in full 'free trade' swing, bring back free trade. If they can't, don't. It's a big bet, but I'm for it. I won't speculate on which camp was larger in 07, but it damned sure wasnt a united community. Someones been drinking the rose-colored kool-aid.
  6. Publish early, like the old school papers used to do. EXTRA!!! EXTRA!!! READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!
  7. What would be the point of putting up another flawed, button-clicking vote contest? I expect Phase 2 will be a proper vote, with logging in and 1 vote per person and all that.
  8. You mean if 25% of the votes are valid, then that's a majority? We will never know, because they aren't tallying the opposition. In that big chat graphic methud posted, when Mod Mark says “they aren’t looking at the names” he’s dodging the point. They should gauge the numbers on both sides of the coin. And then at the end, he has the nerve to claim he’s neutral.
  9. Those who said Jagex doesn't want our opinion, only free publicity, are right imho. That much is obvious. Even if it were possible for Jagex to quantify how many accounts there are, and this information was released into the public for scrutiny in order to see how many 'No's there are, it's impossible to judge if this vote is fair because of all the corruption (vote bots, people voting on behalf of friends etc.) going on. If this actually was a real vote, and they allowed such rampant abuse of the system, and they still went with the result, they'd be idiots and possibly in legal trouble. Sadly, true. Looks like the only legitimate "no" vote you will ever be able to send is with your wallet. I do hope they post that FAQ in the next day or two - I'd like to read it before I decide if I am casting my "no" vote.
  10. External press coverage: Interesting poker-faced quotes from a couple of the Jagex wheels. But how could they have honestly constructed such a corruptible voting method?
  11. The last 10 songs in the Hump Day iTunes shuffle: Ros Stewart - Hot Legs Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the Dark (Dub) John & Yoko, The Plastic Ono Band with the Harlem Community Choir - Happy Xmas (War Is Over) Prince & The Revolution - Paisley Park The Power Station - Get It On (Bang a Gong) Weird Al Yankovic - Amish Paradise Camper Van Beethoven - The Day That Lassie Went to the Moon Nick Lowe - I Love My Label Billy Joel - Scenes From an Italian Restaurant The Penetralia - Battlestar [bleep]ing Galactica
  12. FWIW, Sals is running a similar poll, with a similar split: 60-40ish.
  13. I agree; I'd have liked to seen Jagex do a legitimate vote instead of a PR stunt, even if they have already made up their minds. I'll go one step further: if they don't find a way to have a legitimate vote, a substantial portion of the players will feel like the reversals are being rammed down their throats. The people opposed to the reversals spend money with Jagex too, and Jagex would be foolish to run roughshod over them - unless they just want a different segment of the player base to stop paying for members. That voting page is a real hoot, though; I just voted as ringo starr and made the top of the list. :-P When they go to verifying the names in that count, I expect the number to be less than half of what's being reported by the odometer numbers.
  14. They may require participation in something like this.
  15. I too would like to see a one person, one vote poll on the subject.
  16. This is a Chicago-style election. Hell, I expect The Old Nite will be voting, if he hasn't already.
  17. This is a stunt; it's let me vote multiple times, both logged in and not logged in.
  18. Finally, the hard proof we've all been asking for. What's to stop people from creating accounts and stuffing the ballot box?
  19. :shame: When the official terms & conditions are released, you will see that there will be only one winning entry per person (likely not per account). While I understand them wanting people to spend their Xmas money on a year's membership, to suggest a chance of any one person winning $10,000 a month, or even $10,000 over the life of the contest, is shameless. The chance of you winning $1,000 is damn near zero.
  20. That headline is misleading. One person is not going to win $10,000 a month; ten people are going to win $1000.
  21. I really need to buy this album again (Out of the Blue). I'm listening to a rip of the original CD, without the extra bonus tracks.
  22. Didn't expect it to see this early in the thread, but it begs the question: Why are there ALWAYS some idiots about that think jagex might introduce new rares..? Useless bankspace occupier is ofc way more useful than a wieldable smithing/construction/whatnot hammer that people have been suggesting for ages! You are the only person I have seen taking the "new rare" tack. And using a personal invective to ridicule those you imagine to be taking that view, I might add. Like I said before, I don't need a hammer, I already earned my smithing cape. YMMV.
  23. Never cracking mine; my smithing days are done. Gonna put it on one of my bank tabs for decor.
