  2. Kudos to Jagex; I expected them to just skip to chaotic defender or some other Dung tie-in.
  3. Well, I will go on the record as agreeing with the first article. I have always viewed Jagex' activities as second-tier & extraneous, and I dislike the cloying attempts they make to drag players to this content. It's like when your mom waves a forkfull of spinach under your nose - Are you sure you wont try it? Its good for you, really it is! Your dad likes it; I like it. Try it, you might like it too! And if you dont, no television for you, young man! GMAFB. If the content is good enough, people will discover it without the developers making it a quest requirement - don't you think?
  4. I heard a talk radio host say the same thing tonight - and I agree. They should have not charged him $75 - but billed him for payroll, water costs, gasoline and medical bills (should any firefighter needed medical attention), etc. To let the house burn down was pure sheethookery on the part of that fire department. Hospitals and medical practitioners don't get to refuse care based on insurance payment. They treat everyone and then bill you afterwards if you don't have insurance. If someone had been trapped inside that house, do you think they would have remained on the sidelines? Hell no. But since no life was at stake, they chose to act like the mafia and stand by because the protection money wasn't paid. The whole thing just makes me sick to my stomach.
  5. I've seen Energizer CR 2032s at my supermarket for about $US 2, and Google brings up a slew of name brand 2032s at around the same price.
  6. The last 10 songs in the Hump Day iTunes shuffle: INXS - Need You Tonight / Mediate The Archies - Jingle Jangle XTC - Then She Appeared (2001 Digital Remaster) Eurythmics - I Remember You (Remastered Version) Elvis Costello - Waiting For the End of the World Jackson 5 - Dancing Machine Supertramp - Its Raining Again Fredrick Fennell / Cleveland Symphonic Winds - Sousa: The Stars & Stripes Forever The Waterboys - When Ye Go Away (2006 Digital Remaster) Prince - Hold Me
  7. I have the solution. Instead of calling these pieces Featured Articles, call them Guest Editorials. Problem solved. =D>
  8. Every time I take a unicorn to waterfiends, it practically rains fish. Every time I take a bunyip to waterfiends, those fish drops dry up. All kidding aside, I find I am able to stay longer at waterfiends with a unicorn.
  9. The entire efficiency sub-culture reminds me of those intros on The Big Bang Theory, where they all use markerboards to over-analyze the best cinema for watching movies or the best places to eat out. :-P The biggest part of RS players just do what they read in some guide somewhere, without actually bothering to actually do the math themselves. I personally try to be efficient, but not at the expense of my cash pile. I won't burn through GP just to do something the fastest, most efficient way. I find myself trying to strike a balance between the most efficient way and the least expensive way.
  10. Efficiency noob - gotta admit, that's one I've never heard before. I do use a spreadsheet to calculate various costs / rewards / milestones (15 different pages at present).
  11. It's famous in ufology circles. But it's 20 ly away... if we sent a signal out there today, we'd be 40 years waiting for an answer. We will have found swimming things under the ice of Europa by then. :shades:
  12. A Longevity Cape whose skin/appearance is tied to your account creation date shouldn't be hard to do at all, programming wise. I don't personally have a problem with a decorative cape, as long as there are no stats (or all the stats for all the capes are the same).
  13. Notice the total level... I call shenanigans.
  14. The last 10 songs in the Hump Day iTunes shuffle: Camper Van Beethoven - Pictures of Matchstick Men James Levine / Chicago Symphony Orchestra - Mendelssohn: A Midsummer Nights Dream, Op. 61 - Wedding March Paul Simon - Old Beck - Loser The Benjy Davis Project - Same Damn Book 10,000 Maniacs - Eat For Two Wings - Sally G Billy Joel - We Didnt Start the Fire Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) Kate Bush - Rubberband Girl [Extended Mix]
  15. Mangled bones are common drops from a variety of sources under the whirlpool. Mangled bones cannot ever lead to a DFH; only chewed bones can possibly lead to a DFH. Chewed bones are dropped by mith dragons and mith dragons only. ref: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2item_id=6984 ref: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2monster_id=928 ref: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2monster_id=927 ref: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2monster_id=926 ref: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2monster_id=937 As to the original question, I have no answer.
  16. I won't be trying IE 9 because I'm still running XP Pro. I use IE 8 for some things and Firefox for others. I am considering making the Chrome Frame the preferred renderer for my web site though.
  17. 2k without a pair of boots is uncommonly bad luck. Some trips, I don't get any. Some trips I get multiples. But 2k would be about 15 assignments - that's fugly.
  18. That's the way I see it. The only improvement I have noticed in scroll rewards is that the firelighters are tradable (i.e. dumpable) now. I'd much rather see much scarcer clues with guaranteed nice payouts than the current drop rate and the junk I get.
  19. The only problem with party hats per se is that there are too many wannabee egalitarians playing the game. I'd never sell mine - it's a treasured souvenir of days gone by. But I'll never have the money to actually buy one.
  20. If you're observant, you don't have to pray at all. Just ambush them when they are zeroed in on some enemy GWD NPC and you won't take damage. I wear a Sara hide top, Zammy hide legs, Bandos boots and an Armadyl cloak. That leaves no restrictions at all on the other items (whip, fury, slayer helm, dfs, barrows gloves). I take 5 rocktails with me just in case I need them. I never use all of the fish nor all of my prayer on any assignment.
  21. Consider, if you will, the market impact of a bank placeholder system. How many of us keep duplicates of items for the sole purpose of placeholding? If such a system came to be, there would be a lot of items dumped back into the market. I'm not saying that would be a good or bad thing... I'm just saying.
  22. Well, I'm not inflexible. I could see how some clan leader might want to use assisting as a recruiting tool - i.e. join the Smokin Hard 6s and get access to assists from our high-level leadership. But if the point is just to bypass the assist limits, they can set up an NPC for that and stop dragging innocent peace-loving bystanders into it (I humbly suggest the name Dulcia Bracca for the NPC).
  23. No, not everyone. Why should I assist someone (and put up with the nagging, whining, following and other undesirable behavior) when I get nothing from it? You should rephrase it as “Allowing assistance past the XP limit (for no XP gain) also sounds like something every low level would love.”
  24. I should be able to block other players from following me in the same way I can block their private chat.
  25. The last 10 songs in the Hump Day iTunes shuffle: XTC - Love on a Farmboys Wages Daryl Hall - I Wasnt Born Yesterday Close Lobsters - Pathetique R.E.M. - Radio Song Paul McCartney - Teddy Boy The Beatles - For You Blue Paul Thorn - Aint Love Strange We Are Smug - Words That I Cant Say Ivor Biggun - Bras on 45 Blue Giant - Blue Sunshine
