I never bought a whip - I trained with a dragon long until I got high enough in slayer to kill abbyssal demons. Then I got one fairly quickly as a drop. I wouldn't expect everybody to do that, but I consider it a badge of honor to have never paid money for a whip.

Not everyone thinks the G.E. should behave like some huge fixed-price flea market. But as this is the umpteenth "merchants are bad, Jagex must save us from them" topic, I see no point in re-hashing the arguments for / against.

There are a few safe spots - one in the south side of the room comes to mind, near some tables I think. I use knives and crossbows though, not a cannon, FWIW. I always have to find them when I go there - but they do exist.

Buy grimy herbs in the GE, clean them for XP and then sell them back to some sucker who wants to make unsalable potions. Use the Herblore Calculator to figure out how many you need. If you go guam all the way, you will have to clean approx. 3100 guams to get to level 25. You can do that in an hour or so. Of course, you can move up in herbs as you level up and do a lot fewer than 3100.

I'd bet you can, but I have no first-hand experience with lava eels on bunyips. The number if runes you get back is somewhat random. From what I am reading, it is a random number selected from 1 to the amount of health the cooked fish will heal, inclusive (ref: Runescape Wiki). I.e., a shrimp heals 3 hp, so you will get 1-3 water runes. A shark heals 20, so you will get 1-20 water runes. Et cetera.

This glitch was out long before summoning. Knives randomly do a poison 'splat' instead of a regular 'splat.' But this is not "instead of" - it's "in addition to." And now that I have fired up the 2nd bunyip, there's not a green splat to be seen. Odd.

That might explain it... but I had a bunyip while ranging waterfiends yesterday and I did not notice this effect at all.

I noticed this today at dusties. (Thanks to ImageShack for Free Image Hosting) See the green splotch on the dustie? But I have nothing to poison him with... At first I thought it might be a set effect from the blessed dhide, but I'm not wearing the entire set. I'm using plain iron knives. Can anyone explain what is causing the green damage? I am stumped.

Me too, but I turn it on just for penguins.

What I do: I go to the RSOF and search for the thread "penguin locations" - they create a new one every week, and they are generally good for any world. Sometimes I go to 60 and find them through the chat, and other times I just use the forum list and find them on my own. IMO, it's just as wasy to find them with the locations list on a different world - you don't have to worry about stepping on trappers and other nonsense. The moving penguins make a distinctive sound that makes them easy to find, trappers or not.

Jagex should add that in - a daily account statement from your bank as to your total worth of items, cash, etc (using GE values). Would probably be too much work to compute on-demand, but a once-a-day or once-a-week statement would be nice.

Raw materials of all kinds are up up up. I made my weekly kingdom visit this morning. Swordies over 525, tuna over 110, emeralds around 1400... if just one item were up, I'd say manipulation... but raw materials seem to be up across the board lately.
