Does Sanfew Serums sell on GE??
I've sold quite a few of them... they are popular. But they are a slow, slow way to train herblore.

Black List of Merch Clans
Jagex already has an excellent way to check on this - it's called the 30-day chart. Here's an example.

Imp boxes
You don't have to bait the traps to catch imps. I've caught hundreds south of Falador with no bait. But Falador is a high-traffic area, and every noob in the game will walk by and ask you a bazillion questions about your traps - or just start killing imps to cheese you off. Karamja volcano is not a bad place to catch imps - you are close to the Shilo travel cart for banking. I have never tried to catch imps in the GWD.

A REAL Solution to Price Manipulation
Its wrong in game, because it is a scam, and scamming IS against the rules. Jagex obviously does not agree, as the forums are full of recruitment posts. Not even the trigger-happy forum mods are taking up your cause. 1 2 3 I could go on and on... If this is so against the rules, why doesn't Jagex intervene? :P

A REAL Solution to Price Manipulation
The point is: if you are going to pull real-world comparisons (as many in this thread are doing), then you open the door to throw the entire game out to the rubbish heap. So when people start throwing in Wikipedia links about cornering the market and such being illegal in the real world, those notions deserve to have scorn poured all over them. IT'S NOT THE REAL WORLD. :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

A REAL Solution to Price Manipulation
no http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_fixing You just proved his point. No where on that page, or on Jagex's page is their an official statement about Price Manipulation in Runescape. Sorry, but merch clans are doing nothing wrong...as of now Price manipulation IS price fixing. That's like saying America is not USA either way runescape is runescape, and there are no rules against price fixing/manipulating for the game of RUNESCAPE. (People are so thick)          Murder is against the law too, yet Runescape lets you kill guards, other players, etc. ... And it's illegal in the real world, so therefore we should all be up in arms and demanding Jagex do something about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homicide Where are the righteously indignant as far as this is concerned? Keep repeating to yourselves... the GE is not a store... prices can go up or down based on the whims of the market...

A REAL Solution to Price Manipulation
Your gathering of roots has nothing to do with me. If you want roots for yourself and the GE price is too high, go get your own. There is no monopoly on roots - just a perceived monopoly on harvested roots. If you gather your own roots and keep them, then you don't have to worry about anyone cornering the market. Price swings will not effect you, because you have learned to gather your own raw materials. There cannot be buyers if there are no sellers. Merchants buy on the GE solely because people are willing to sell. If there were no sellers, merchants could not "corner the market."

A REAL Solution to Price Manipulation
   As usual, the solutions to the "problem" are more onerous than the "problem" itself. There are two unstated problems with the GE: (1) The general populace perceives the GE as a huge store instead of being a marketplace. (2) There is simply too much money floating around in Runescape Solving (1) requires nothing more than some re-education and maturity. People must realize they are not entitled to go to the GE and buy items at a certain price if someone else is willing to pay more, for whatever reason. Players are entitled to go gather their own items if the GE price is too high, but to complain that the GE is broken is simply folly. IOW, "get off your lazy, spoiled backsides and go gather your own roots." On to (2): In the real world, you would never see manipulations on the scale that we see in the game. Why? Because in the real world, there is not enough private capital to move markets the way they are moved in Runescape. In the past, skills have been used as moneysinks (construction from the get-go, latter-day herblore, etc). This approach penalizes the small player instead of the so-called evil merchants. The only real way to remove money from the game fairly is with a merchant tax. I shudder to think of the complexity in implementing it - but it would be a way of taxing the profits of the merchants and keeping them somewhat in check. Sufficient tax rates could discourage the process altogether. I guess you would have to calculate it on a transactional basis. If I buy 100,000 clean torstals @ 2500 per and sell them in a month for 2600 per, I have made 10,000,000 gp profit which is open to taxation. The GE looks at my history, sees I made a profit, and deducts 35-40% for taxes. This would not be the same as an income tax, and would not tax items a player produced themselves. I am only speaking of taxing items bought and then later sold on the GE. So if I grew 100,000 torstols and sold them, I would not be taxed. But if I bought 100,000 torstols and then resold them, that is where I would be taxed.

Help with Herblore
The easiest way to level herblore and not lose money is to buy grimy herbs on the G.E., clean them and sell them back. You should do no less than break even. if you time your buy and sell properly, you will make money.

Need advice for herblore
Buy grimy herbs, clean them, sell back to the GE. This is very effective, especially at lower levels. Someone else will lose his shirt making useless pots. Why let it be you? Clean the herbs for XP and let some other sap take the hit to his bank account.

11th June 2009 - Macro-detection systems update
If you read the newspost you would know they can detect any macro device and therefore will not ban people not using one. How, after this week's fiasco, can you believe that Jagex is incapable of mistakes? This bunch has a gift for creating cluster[bleep]s.

Nuclear Weapons
DPR Korea is no real threat at present. Sure they have tested a few nuclear weapons, but they haven't made their weapons small enough to put on a missile yet. If you can't deliver them, they really aren't a threat. Which is why I don't worry about Al Queda or anyone else getting nukes - unless all those rumors about missing Soviet suitcase nukes turn out to be true. That would be a problem. But I digress. Rocket technology is a much bigger threat that nuclear bombs. With a good ICBM, you can deliver a pulse device and cripple electronic devices over a wide area. And it would only take one. That's what makes DPR Korea so scary. They will never build an arsenal of thousands of bombs & missiles. But they really won't need to. I could also see some fundamentalist theocracy deciding to set the infidel's clocks back a few centuries with one of these. On a different tack... I was reading Sagan's Pale Blue Dot a few days ago, and he wrote about deflecting asteroids with nuclear weapons. But he also noted that if you can deflect an asteroid away from Earth, it follows you could deflect one towards it. So again, why do you really need huge piles of nukes when you can do the job with a handful? I don't think we can take great comfort in having stockpiles of weapons at the ready. Quantity is not the issue anymore.

Mod Mat K & Manipulator clans Debate
When a clan buys out limpwurts the herblorists and the people who use them have to pay more for their stuff because of unnatural demand. Now when the clans dump the people who collect the limpwurts can't sell them even for min and they lose money they could have had if they would have left the item alone. They cant grow them or gather them by slaying hobgoblins and increase the supply? Asides, if they did that, they might profit much more than paying 1k+ per second. ... Exactly. There is a cadre of people who spend any amount of gp just to level a skill. The merchant clans are just helping them along. :-w People are too damned lazy to go kill cockatrices/hobgoblins/whatever and be hunter-gatherers. They want something and they want it now. Pout, pout, pout. You don't like the price of something? Go gather your own. Merch clans do not control supply - they control readily available supply. And there's a big difference. I wish to Guthix some clan would merch antifires. Have you checked prices? In the past 30 days, they haven't been over 1k each. People can't buy pots on the G.E. because no one is selling. I know I am not, and I am sitting on a large pile. Had them for months. Made them myself. Can't sell them without losing a boatload of money. If some merch clan manipulates the price upwards, I finally get to sell. If this is what it takes to move prices up to an acceptable level, then so be it. Don't like it? Get an assist or level up. But the convenience of "having it now" comes with a price. And that price is being paid to merchant clans. Willingly.
