Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
If you don't like certain aspects of the game, then don't participate in those aspects. But don't presume to tell the rest of us how we should enjoy the game. You aren't up to it.

Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
For the same reason the USPS doesn't fire up the printing press and run off a few thousand inverted jenny stamps - the rarity is what makes the items desirable. No one would pay for one if anyone could get one just by dropping coin. You pixel egalitarians will never get it. :wall:

The crash code - µ
[/hide] there used to be a huge wikipedia page with like 300+ codes but it disappeared.... Windows users can just run charmap for tons of codes.

Lack of randoms/ random update.
Please tell me how you are doing it. I want to stop getting them as well. FWIW, I get about the same amount, in the same annoying places. But I have a set routine; log in every 2 hours and run herbs.

I started a free salary cap league on Sporting News, thought it might be fun to have a little baseball competition on the side. You are welcome to join. Here's the URL for the Runescape Salary Cap League. They won't let you sign up if you are under 13, 13-17 require parents' permission. It's completely free of charge. I chose a salary cap league so that there would be no limit to the size of the league. With this game, as many people as want to play are allowed, and no one gets left out. If you all want to buy A-Roid, you are all allowed to (if you have the money). :P They are offering a cash prize, which is unusual for a free game nowadays. The prizes are site-wide though, not for each league, so don't get your hopes up. The password for the league is gielinor; no big secret here - just want to keep out random peeps. Pass it on to any other Runescape players you know of who are interested. I put my name on my team, don't feel like you have to, though.

Farming Revolution? Will people actually use allotments now?
With tree seeds being so cheap now, it's debatable. I got a lot of my xp from allotments (maters, corn, strawberries, watermelons). I stopped doing allotments because it was so time consuming. I may reconsider now that I can see 99 on the horizon. Especially as I have white lillies planted everywhere. I almost feel wasteful not growing allotment crops now.

25th February 2009-Random Event Update and More
That's because they've all migrated to falling stars. I don't see how this set-up is any less onerous than the prior one. I don't auto and I don't need my video game provider telling me when I need a change of pace. Hand-hold the people who want it, leave the rest of us be. When you are fighting and scrapping to get your 200 dust before some clan of star-chasers show up and you get teleported away to one of these asinine events, you will understand my vitriol. At least with the swarm, you could walk around to the other side of the star and keep going. I still give the rework a fail.

25th February 2009-Random Event Update and More
They changed something mid-day methinks. I banked a "random event gift" (purple box, orange ribbon) earlier today, but now I am unable to bank a second (a magical force prevents me). So I am leaving the one in there for the penultimate untradeable rare. :P

The crash code - µ
So has this bug always been there and just now found? Or was it introduced recently. I know I've used the word "µTorrent" before... don't seem to remember crashes, but I can't be sure.

The crash code - µ
This is not Wal-Mart and I'd be hella surprised if they did a rollback. #-o

The crash code - µ
So, would it be correct to say that the Quick Chat worlds are crash-proof? This was a royal P.I.T.A. earlier when I was doing the Penguin thing and in chat. I didn't believe them when they said it was an alt-code issue. Silly me.

25th February 2009-Random Event Update and More
people should really read the news before posting. Strange plants now freely grow in sw brimhaven and supply their fruit to people who pass by and collect them Knowing of their energy-restorative properties, this is a bit surprising. Not that they left the free fruit in the game, but that they left such useful free fruit in the game.

25th February 2009-Random Event Update and More
According to this article, the Wich [bleep] survived. Reading this page, I am hugely disappointed. FAIL. All that hype to, in the end, remove a small fraction of randoms. ===== The farming leprechauns got an update - they have swagger now. And the Shilo Gem Rocks look like a rock candy farm.

I hope the lethal randoms are all gone - I am looking forward to wearing my phat again without constantly looking over my shoulder.

25th February 2009 - Evil Tree + patch notes.
EDIT - my earlier criticism of Zamorak was unjustified, it seems. Perhaps this will siphon off some of the star chasers and make that mini-game a little less crowded.

Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
He's not interested in the items for his own sake. He's interested in bringing the failed real-world paradigm of communism into the Runescape environment. It's not about money or desires on his own part (according to his own words here). It's about taking special items (and the implied special status) away from old-time players (the bourgeoisie) and giving them to the masses (the proletariat). He wants to strip any meaning of longevity or seniority or wealth from holiday rares. He then wants to make the devalued substitute items available to everyone. And he naively believes that his proposals are new and haven't been considered (and rejected) by TPTB. It's obvious you don't know why. But that doesn't mean other people don't want to buy them. Many do. Your proposals don't add anything to the game at all - they only take away aspects of the game others enjoy.
