  1. As are most people (not all) with money. I agree, I never ever go there to colllect Seaweed. Waiting for the respawn is like waiting for a snail to cross a salted sidewalk. Nah, I won't be going there at all, as i just leveled in fishing as well (besides, I hate fishing!) How to solve the seaweed problem...don't know. I hope Jagex hurries to correct the battlestaff problem. Until then I will just stay on lunar spell and buy as I go. 5 staves a day until I get 100 to high alch.
  2. You can buy from other players. Outside of that, strictly collecting. According to Paul, he wants you to use the Fishing colony. But there are, or may be better areas in game. Good luck! Oh, and fighting dags drop noted Seaweed, from what I understand.
  3. Me personality is more or less the same. There are different aspects to it, but nonetheless the same.
  4. If it did, I would be very content with it. Seriously, spending minutes looking for one item bites Yak buns!!! Hill Giants could run to varrock from arddy and back in the time it takes me to find one specific, rarely used item. We shall see.
  5. I must be getting closer to obtain the "biggest RS loser" award or something.... I don't buy raw material, I chop my own trees (WC xp), I craft my own bs (crafting XP), I make my own longs (Fletching xp), I mine my own ess (mining xp), and I craft my own nats (RC xp), then, I high alch the buggers (mage xp). Total amount spent: time to gather materials Total amount gained: 779 per high alch. Um, what's so wrong about that?
  6. Not being a profit.... I believe I have had this argument with someone before. I still do not see how it would not be a profit if you gather everything yourself??? Are we assuming that ALL players purchase materials to high alch?? If that is the case, then yes, you may be correct in saying that there is no profit. But if I gather my own logs, gather my own flax, craft my own nats with my mined ess.....I would be making more money, just losing time. I have spent 0gp and made 779 (I think that is the alch price). I will agree, if you buy ALL materials need to high alch for the sake of gaining mage XP, then you are wasting money!
  7. You would not need to know our actually names, but our screen names if anything. I did a paper on this for College. Yes there is a such thing as a virtual community and there are reasons why people consider themselves part of said community. If you are really doing said report then you may want to check out other site (Livejournal, Xanga, and so one). Look for evidence on how teh players create, establish and maintain this community that you are looking for. It seems you are looking for proof of how it is, and for that you really don't need to "talk" to any of us, more or less just look for evidence. That said, if you are truly in game, you can attempt to pm me, but I keep my private chat to friends, as I don't like to be bother by unknown players who attempt to either ask for free stuff or ask me to be their "GF." good luck
  8. Not a profit?? Only an economist would point out the details of how it is a loss. I mean, if I make my own raw materials, to me I am still making a profit. REgardless of how much each item costs. Sure, Nats sell at 310, yew logs at 300 (or whatever). But I gather those material myself and make my own longs, mine my own ess (can we same time consuming?). Yes, it takes time, but in the end I have spent 0gp and made 770 (what ever the alching price is) per yew long. To me that is a major profit! The only thing wasted is time. 8-) Best way to train mage: Live mage. (96 mage here, and done without massive high alching). When I say live, I mean live. Everything you do in game must be mage based. Teleport everywhere, make bracelets, enchant them (and use them), farm with lunar spell book, CW with Ancients, make battlestaves, visit the MTA (Mage Training Area), work on getting bones to peaches spell, use that while training (mage of course). oh...and use telegrab! Not a waste of Laws, if you can craft them! O:) Hats off to those who can do what I can not....sit hours on end high alching. =D> I can't stand that. AFter 100 alchs, I am bored. I prefer my method. Scope the signature...
  9. Not sure but....if you buy at shop price and sell, would you actually lose money? Whether it's tokkul or GP, if you sell the item you purchase, wouldn't it sell back at like 1/2 price??
  10. I have no idea what you did to lose money, but when I crafted them I made a profit of 2-2.3k! I collected my own seaweed (so I didn't need to buy that), I retrieved sand from Bert (Hand in the Sand quest). Then using the glassmaking for lunar spellbook, I crafted my own orbs. from there it was just buying the battlestaves and attaching the orbs after I charged them. I mine my own ess, crafted my own Cosmics and Voila! 2k-2.3k profit! No, I am (and from my experience of buying staves last night) and I know there are others upset with this update. I am not going to use my Pizzazz points for battlestaves because I am trying to save up for infinity gear. It is bad enough I don't have the luxury of endless amount of time, but when I do play I like to focus on one thing to do. Battlestaving for me was a big money maker because of how I do it. I was happy when there were three places to purchase and now there is only 1. Increase the stock to 20, I really don't think that is going to help at all. People will still worldhop just to purchase what they can when they can. That shall change nothing, imo. But that is how I feel about it.
  11. just a few words... YAY, UNLIMITED BLOOD RUNES!!! Until I can craft them, it makes getting them that much easier.
  12. -Will this truly solve the store-bot problem or will it just adapt and find another way to abuse the game? No, it will not solve the bot problem. Nothing will, people in China, or whereever, need to eat! Furthermore, there will always be cheaters no matter where you go. Some people live off of looking for the quickest road to riches. Will they go start buying out all the feathers in the Fishing Store, or will that be infinite as well? Feathers are infinite....so yea. Too bad for feather gatherers. Now...my turn.... I love the update from the "runes" aspect. Unlimited amount of runes makes me happy. However....Jagex needs to do something about that battlestaff problem. Sure...F2P has nothing to worry about as this is a member problem. Battlestaves are now EXTREMELY hard to obtain. So, crafters take a blow as this was one easy way to craft without fighting dragons. I am curious to see how Jagex "fixes" this, if they even intend to.
  13. Well, yeah, if you are a buyer of runes and essence....it will hurt you. But all in all, I think it is not that bad. Only merchanters have to "rethink" how to sell their wares, since they are the ones selling. Outside of that, if you are not a merchanter (like me) it bothers you not.
  14. Finally someone who feels the same as I!! I was excited about the shop update... finally a chance to get runes whenI want and how many I want (based on how much money I have). My mates would say, "let's go CW" Then I would have to spend x amount of time getting bloods to play because I didn't have enough for the casts. Problem solved. My RANT---> Battle staves. Runes don't come cheap. Which is why making battle staves were a life saver. I would buy the staves for a big profit then I was able to buy my bloods. NOW...as stated...I can't do that because it will take longer, much longer, to every gather the battle staves (unless I world hop, but even then I am doing what....competing with other players). Use pizzazz opints?? Are you nuts?!?!? I am saving up to get infinity gear and you want me to use them for battle staves! I hope Jagex realizes that they have really hurt the "true" players and come up with something for getting battle staves. In the RS forums, there is a suggestion for a battle stave update, involving players making their own. If you can find it, check out some of the ideas.
  15. Speaking as an adult....he's right. And that is why i try to look for the more maturer crowd of players to enjoy the game with. Good luck to all of you seeking the same. feel free to add me, or contact me via tip.it or other rs sites if you see (PS: google works wonders...try it, you might find me).
  16. The original article was quite intriguing. I was impresed to see how the author felt that RS could be addicting and obsessive. Especially of mere graphical items. The posted letters in response to the article were equally interesting and thought provoking on my part. I personally play the game just to play the game. I don't spend hours on end high alching just to get my mage up. I would prefer to play CW and enjoy the game than sit and waste hours after hours trying to raise my mage for 99 skill. I farm to grow herbs, which I transform into pots, which I either use or sell depending on my mood. I don't make a habit out of it. I stopped selling runes, just so I can use the runes myself. For me, RS is just strickly entertainment, and I prefer to keep it that way. I don't know if I will "quit" anytime soon. Yes, it can get boring and I think that is why i am good to play for 1-2 hours straight before I need to stop. I usually have my private chats to friends and only add people who are worthy of decent conversation. I rarerly chat with other players in game and even during CW I end up turning off my chat because of the immaturity of other players. Yes, the word "noob" annoys me! And that is why I don't interact with other players in the game unless I know you from other RS-related sites. For me, I just want to play the game. Enjoy it for what it is...a game. That's all. The day may come when I feel..."Time to quit," but for now, I just want to enjoy it. I even had to stop reading the rants section on all RS-related sites and forums. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of the game. Sure Jagex is shooting for a younger crowd...it is, afterall, a gaming business and that's what a business does...finds ways to make more money. I don't blame them. But I still enjoy the game foor what it is...a game. the choice is ultimately yours...continue or end, but keep in mind, it is...just a game. And I know some adults that still enjoy playing..."the game."
  17. I agree. And isn't that what the game is about (pking aspect of it) taking risks. Live up to the challenge! Personally, I am glad that it hahs changed, and I will continue to tell all PKers whining about the update that in the RSB as well!
  18. Ideallly, I am thinking....you can....
  19. Hey, I RC and it doesn't bother me!! It's not all of us RCers!! Jjust a few given us a bad name! Tee hee
  20. I have searched thhe forums left and right and what I have notice (on the RS forums) is many pkers are ranting about the update with the Tele-Block (TB) spell. Presently, if you are TBed then you remain TB even if you log out and log back in. The spell lasts for a full 5 minutes, logged in or not (although, it is "rumored" to be at random, but I think this is not the case). The good news is, if you are TBed and at anytime exit the wild, by any means (I.e. Zammy mage, walk out of the wild, teleported by another player) then the spell wears off instantly. The only argument I have seen against this is that many pker complain that now they would have to wait to access the Mage Bank in 54 wild. Many argue that this update "ruins" the game. I am sorry, but I completely don't see how something "challenging" ruins the game. I decided to bring this discussion to a bigger audience. I have posted in other areas of the internet to help me gain a clearer picture as to how this particular update has "ruined" pking forever. I do pk, and I have never used the "log out and log back in" technique of erasing a TB. But that is just me. Therefore for discussion....The TB Arguement.... Is the updated version bad and should Jagex return to the old system? Or, does this update (will this update) work better??
  21. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. It is still in the momentum of the game. I don't fully understand the rants I have read about it. I am more concerned about another topic, that obviously, is not on Tip.....perhaps I shall start a forum for it..??
  22. The community.... Well, I have not been to play WoW, or any other online game. One main reason is....Money. I don't have the money for WoW. I am poor, and iin my current income, RS fits perfectly as at home entertainment. I have met a world full of people through RS as well. So, I agree with the fact that it is the community that makes RS great! Outside of that, I am not sure how accurate the article is becuase I have not played anything other than RS. Therefore, I really can't compare with other games. Furthermore, with the advancement of game consoles, I am sure that you can "play" with other players online. To what extent, that I don't know. Same chat system, again, unknown by me. But I do enjoy the "RS Community," which is what I think the main point the author was trying to sell. Aside from tip it, there are other places on the net where I tallk about rs with fellow gamers. Some of my "good" friends I met through RS as well. So, in that sense, that is the true reason behind me continuing to play rs. Stimulating discussion!! Thanks for the read.
  23. The above statement has been my position in this debate all along. I feel the F2P is a "demo." To the actual game. It is there to give the consumer, which is you, a chance to sample the ware and see if you would like to purchase it. Those of you who own a game console, it normally comes with a "demo" disk. Long ago, game console gamers would be granted with a "free" game upon purchase of the game console, now, from what I understand, there is no "free game." You must purchase the game as well as the console. What does all of this have to do with Runescape? Same concept, you are asking for an update to a "demo." That's similar to going to the store and sampling the free samples and then asking for a glass a wine to go along with it. Yes, i do feel for all members who had to return to F2P, for whatever reason. I do feel for all the players in F2P who do not receive many updates, outside of "holidays." But holidays do account for an "update" and I think that is generous of Jagex. If anything, I feel that F2P should be allowed some bank space, but that is all I feel that they should be allowed as they are not "paying" for anything. The ads?? What about the ads??? Are you paying the companies to place their ads on the website? I think not. Whether Jagex has 1 million dollars, or 1 trillion dollars, point is, they are a "business" and as such, they are well aware the F2P is one thing and one thing only, a demo. Don't mean to be mean, but for all F2Pers, aside from more bank space, i do not agree with a "demo" getting upgrades. Keep in mind, after all, you are playing the "demo." For more features, considering subscribing to members. I look forward to seeing you there.
  24. Well well, someone finally said the one thing I was thinking about regarding the item trade scam: If you are irresponsible and do not double check the trade then it is ultimately, "YOUR FAULT!" Not to be mean or anything, but I occassionally read the RS forums and see many people complain about being scammed or I have people on my Friend's list complaining, "I got scammed!" Well, I question, "how?" Their reply uusually is, "I wasn't paying attention." Well, there you go. If you are not going to pay attention to the trade then you "deserve" to be scam. I know I seem heartless, but there is a reason why there are all those annoying screens in the "trading" window. It is not to make the game look fancy, but to prevent such scams. On another note, I was grateful to see that the article did take it's time to "warn" us of a new method of scamming, which I was not aware of, but it does make sense, if you're a professional RS scammer. I guess the moral of this story, reiterated: "If you don't speak German, stay off the German servers!!!!"
  25. I don't collect anything I can't use. But if you wanna make this lil mage gurl happy, then a surefire way is....Runes or Pure Ess (even regular ess for that matter). I collet staves, but only the rather staves (i.e. lava, mud, ancient, etc). All player-made staves, I keep like 2 in stock in case I lose one. It's the rare ones that are hard to get. My current collection: All god staves, 4 lava, 1 ancient, 1 Iban, 1 Slayer, of course one of each elemental, and 2 Ahrim's. It's really fun doing CWS when I bring all my staves annd begin alternating through all of them. People are like, "how many staves you got?!?!?!"
