  1. Sounds about right. I mean honestly, they've managed to boost the max hit by 1 or 2 and they add +20 accuracy to the whip. As for the idea regarding lowering defence if you could dual-wield, have any of you heard of rock crabs, or prayer-training, or anything else where defence doesn't matter and max hit is supreme? Not to mention that even in PvP we'd be seeing a lot of double ko's. Go get a defender or a godsword if you want improved max hits. I know that my godsword has a max of 43 while my whip with DFS has a max of 33... on slayer assignments while super-potted that is. I have horrible melee stats.
  2. I think they'd be a highly exclusive market, as summoning is already an expensive skill. I guess my estimates are as follows: Gold: 40 gp or so... they're easy to get, and used because they're cheap levelling. Low quality familiars aside from the terrorbird and small amounts of xp keep this in the bottom of the price range. Green: 30 gp. Everyone hates these. They're used to break even on summoning, by attempting to use every last one of mass-produced familiars such as ibises. Everyone has too many greens. Crimson: 150gp. Lousy familiars, superior training, you can never have enough if you're looking to power-level. Blues: 6k? Blues are rare, the familiars are useful both in combat and out of combat. To be honest, 6k might be on the low side. Just so you know, this is all from a guy with 102 cb, 81 slayer, and 1 summoning. 6k charms banked though :)
  3. This update to the site is hopelessly doomed, isn't it? *sigh*... Well I can tell you one thing: The maximum hit for the dragon arrows has been figured out. Go search the runescape forums for "Dark Bow Calc". I think they hit something like 1.225 times your level, + all the pots and prayers and special and equipment. I believe that at my level, 90 ranged, I can actually one-hit myself using d arrows (p++)
  4. Awright then, it's Thanksgiving vaca, I can't sleep, and noone's on AIM... Curse my luck! So I hop on here. What a beauteous little conversation... OK, so here's my take on the rare market and how it should be treated. To me, rares have always been the only way to combat inflation in the game. Up until the Godsword (which, Qeltar, I have read your article on btw), dfs, and d full helm, all other items were GUARANTEED to fall in price as time went on. Rares however, were virtually guaranteed to rise, or at least not to fall. So, after I reached 99 fletching after... I guess it's been 3 years of gameplay... I bought a santa hat. Then I decided, "Hey! My Runecrafting is horrible and I could use some more cash before school starts!" So I then runecraft double cosmics quite a few levels... Then I look at my bank account and think, "Wow, I'm pretty rich compared to all my friends..." and decided to give out about 7 mil between all of them (yes, I know, I'm a cheapskate). Then I keep skilling. I accumulate more money and buy another santa hat, holding out for X-mas so I can finally buy those useful items I've always wanted (then the Godswords came out and I felt kinda poor :P). Now, looking at my bank account with 2 santas, 15 mil cash, and assorted items, I do one thing... *drags table over and smacks head off of it*. Yes, rares have always been a source of corruption, but they've also been a safeguard for legitimate players who don't want to play the roller-coaster merchanting game, watch all their accomplishments degenerate into mucus, or simply get busy with life and want to come back to an account at roughly the same standing it was before. Now I have no problem giving up that safeguard if it's for the greater good of everyone (although I really wish greedy morons who trust charlatans offering free rares would be the ones forced to grow up instead of me *ahem ahem*), but I would have appreciated one thing: a warning. A nice little, "Hey, we're gonna destroy your livelihood, so watch out!" Jagex dropped 2 bombs on the populace in this single update, taking out investors and stakers. Even with imminent domain governments let people know when they're about to be bulldozed! Is it so much to ask for the same courtesy given my playing record? Ah well... Maybe I'll quit RS and do something productive like learn an instrument... HA! Nah, I'll still play regardless of how it goes. I like this game that much :P P.S. It's midnight, so sorry about one big goopy paragraph and mangled sentence structures. P.P.S. If anyone feels like talkin about this til I pass out, Private chat's on.
  5. I had a friend scam me near my beginning membership days... Took my d med and dragon skirt, which was 1.4 mil at the time. However, he had a change of heart and gave me back 1.5 mil 3 days later. He then proceeded to pay back everyone he ever scammed, despite having his account hacked 3 or 4 times. We're still pretty good friends on Runescape, and I was just chatting to him at Dags. Great guy, really. On a more negative note... Some guy stole 700k I loaned him... Can't even remember what prompted me to loan it to him :\
  6. I don't mean any offence, but the Editor seems to have developed a penchant for overblown melodrama as of late. "draw our swords"... Yeah... Personally, I enjoy exchanging insults with my WoW playing friend during AP US History. It's called banter. Also, there isn't that much of a difference between competitive and co-op as far as I've noticed. The two are switched in between so frequently that delineation can be vague at times. Consider Team Slayer in Halo, any CTF mode, or the lunar spell set in Runescape. Is casting vengeance on your friend to kill off another player competitive or cooperative? And let's not forget the classic of PJing... Teamwork in its purest form.
  7. Thank you very very very much for finding out about the holy water. Saves me a suicide run. I'm still kinda curious about Darklight though... I mean yes, the whip is more powerful, but the special would be incredibly useful. Lowering his defence, attack, and strength by 10%??? Way better than a dds. Of course, I think it probably wouldn't work :(
  8. You absolutely can. I have about 160 vials of it sitting in teh bank. I saw the 30s I was dealing (unpotted, no prayer, speed of knives) and got a little excited. Of course it was a total waste of vials and it takes ages to make... Unless of course that boss is susceptible to it, in which case... Free Zammy hilt, even at 92 cb :D
  9. ... You actually called slayer boring, didn't you...
  10. Just so you know, there is a safe spot in the eastern trees for one dragon if you prefer to use a bow. Not the most effective as you have to wait for spawns but... Eh. It's still there and can save some food if nothing else.
  11. ERm... your guthans... Is kind of worthless. Offense and pray are really the only things that count at irons and steels, sorry to break it to ya buddy.
  12. Anyone know if the demons are susceptible to Darklight/Silverlight and Holy Water? Holy water is just ownage... I remember hitting 25s with it at 80 range, unpotted, not praying, as fast as knives. So that would make the demons significantly easier. Darklight has a pretty nice special, and is really really cheap, so you could wear more expensive armor and not worry about protecting your whip. So... anyone know?
  13. One quick question... Why do you openly admit to using a mule? Couldn't you kinda get banned for that? Nice stakes anways... speically on the lvl 115  How the heck did you pull that one off?
  14. Runescape has made me a decent typist, but as far as education goes, it has stolen away countless hours that could be better spent with my nose in a book. Honestly, I could've memorized all the classics if I spent as much time reading as I did playing Runescape. As for math, I do those in my head when I wake up in the morning and try to get all my clocks numbers to end up as the final digit by putting them through any number of phases. Runescape is in no way good for kids... I just hit 80 mining today though!
  15. Get out. You have no place amongst those who recognise the rights and wishes of fellow human beings. Ok, quick thing here. People have the freedom to be gay, correct? People also have the freedom to eat rotted 3 day old meat that was dunked in sewage if they so choose, correct? Does the latter seem disgusting to you? Chances are yes. So you just called a choice disgusting. Grats. Now take a look at the Bible where it clearly classifies homosexuality as a sin. So it's his opinion that it's disgusting and a fact that the Bible calls it a sin. Hence to him (yes, he said to him, no he didn't try ramming his opinion down other's throats) it is disgusting and to all believers and God it is a sin. Hence he has a place. Malo2, you argue like one of my friends. Guess how many people he's convinced. Bbalking, when did the Bible insult women? :-k It was pretty pro-woman for those times. Please use a quote as well. Here's mine so you can call it even. 1 Peter 3:7 "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers." Furthermore, your classification of all Christians as "[bleep]-haters" and that every Muslim "approves of the murder and destruction of the world for 'righteousness'" is extremely stereotypical. And as for the Bible being forced, at my school they don't even make us say the Pledge of Allegiance . They do however force us to read Shakespeare, which for the life of me I can't figure out how to appreciate or how it'll impact my life. Seems like a bigger time waster to me.
  16. Fear_Skiddle, thanks for the explanation. But don't you find it odd that when the Bible states, "All Scripture is God-breathed, useful for teaching and rebuking... (I forget the rest, sorry)" that anything in the book would be replaceable? Remember the warnings from the latter chapters of the gospels and the epistles where Paul says, "Even if an angel teaches you something and it goes against this word, don't listen to him." Be careful. As for Sheol... My understanding is that it got it's origin from a wasteland and in the early applications of the afterlife, it was kind of like oblivion. I think King David held that opinion because somewhere in the Psalms he says something to the effect of, "Lord God, kill all my enemies, but first make sure their lives suck." Jesus clarifies it a bit more in the gospels with phrases like "weeping and gnashing of teeth" and personally, I think oblivion wouldn't be that bad. Going to bed for all of eternity? Beats waking up at 4 A.M. Satenza and Assassin, thank you for thoroughly shooting up the Theory of First Cause, which is the most pathetic argument I've ever seen. The Big Bang is just as believable as theism. Until you factor in other things... But thanks again. Bbalking, get a life and a spell checker. (Is flaming someone always this much fun? Why's it not allowed on here? Can I do it more often???)
  17. Quick question: How the heck did this thing get started? Can you Runescape Rant forum quality? Or maybe even suggestions... I remember when the one guy suggested flying saucers, aliens, and ray guns. Oh that place is scary.
  18. On the whole "a righteous life is more important than the religion" kick... Where do you get that? Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the light. No man comes to the father but by me." There are references to others coming to God, without believing in Christ or being an Israelite. However that wasn't because they lived a "righteous life". Romans 6:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans chapter 1 also states that "men are without excuse" "for since the beginning of Creation God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature- have been known through what has been made." So we see that a righteous life and not having heard the gospel doesn't get someone off the hook. That doesn't mean that God doesn't choose to save them some other way though. Basically, if you've heard the gospel and rejected Christ, bad. If you haven't heard the gospel, the Bible doesn't say what happens. Seriously, read Romans. I'm not too good at explaining this. P.S. This is clarifying what the Bible says, not just what I think. If you disagree on some of the more murky passages, fine. If you think something else entirely, you're not a Christian so don't call yourself one. You're just... whatever you decide to be.
  19. wasteful wasteful people :P. I get to keep all my stuff as pure profit. It's great :XD:
  20. *DISCLAIMER!* I'm 15 and have lived in low-income housing in Central Pennsylvania all my short little life. On top of that, I only read the first page. Couple of observations on this war... It seems like Vietnam. Vietnam: Spreading liberty is a motivation, everyone wants it to end, it seems like we're losing, our soldiers were accused of atrocities and the whole corps was viewed as disgraceful, we pulled out, we may well have lost if we hadn't, we may have won, we still care about it today. Iraq: See above, except the last 4. I don't know what to think. I can't say that if I were there I'd do something differently because I don't have an experience to equate with it. I almost want to join the corps so I can find out... not that serving my country wouldn't be an honor, I just don't think I'd be good at it. And to all the soldiers who posted: Thank you for sharing and thank you for serving.
  21. I'd level your mining up along with it and raid the mining guild with superheat. Mith bars and bolts are going for a pretty decent price right now.
  22. Well I'd recommend giving the guy his money back, but barring that... Spend some of it on skills. Then you won't have to run laws every time you need cash. Then become a berzerker pure so that you don't have to tell a sob story every time you die and lose your equipment. No offense, I've just seen it happen a lot. But seriously, put the money into skills so you have something safe to bank on. Then go take risks as a pure.
  23. To quote myself from this stupid English assignment of journaling Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt... Chosen quote from book: "I have to stand at the edge of the River Shannon so that the whole world won't see the tears of a man the day he's fourteen." My response (I hate journaling...): "When does one become a man? What age, what level of responsibility, what experiences qualify him? 14 is an early age, but some never grow up. I don't know when manhood begins, but I know growth never stops, and the greatest man was still the Son of God." Basically, growth never stops. We should never be comfortable where we're at. The minute we stop growing is the minute life will catch up with us. There will always be someone greater. There will always be a higher goal. We're never finished. Adults are just tall kids who screw up like shorter ones.
  24. I use range as a secondary except on ahrim. Finally found a use for when metals drop rune knives. No spells either. But the brothers in their tombs take me like 2 minutes. It's the tunnel brother that takes forever to spawn and then pump full of iron.
  25. Ok, I popped my little head in here because the headline caught my attention, and quite frankly, I'm surprised this topic hasn't been locked between that and all the flaming... I'll take my hands off the keyboard temporarily so they don't catch on fire... Feel the burn. In any case, I'm not going to get into the whole topic, because I have to do an English assignment that I've been running away from the past... heh heh. I only want to say one thing: Your relationship with God is a personal one. If it's anything like mine you won't change anything just knowing it. You won't change anything feeling it. Things will change when you believe it, and that took a heck of a lot for me. I was raised in a semi-Christian home and I'm now 15, 16 in a few months. I was a good kid... pudgy but good. Then real temptations started coming around 14. I crumpled like that lousy English assignment I've hid under the couch. I tried to change... failure. Tried again... failure. Copy and past that line a few hundred times and you have the story of my entire year. So that did a number on my self-esteem. Suicide seemed like a good idea... Making the world a better place as someone said a few posts ago? Well bawling like a baby I gave up control to God, absolutely sure the nicest thing he'd do for me right then was strike me with lightning and watch me broil in hell for all eternity. I deserved nothing better. But he didn't. I don't know how to describe it. It's not a "fuzzy" feeling like I've ever gotten before. I felt nothing at first. But that nothing was amazing. I stopped crying. There was nothing to cry about. I got up and went downstairs. I had nothing to be ashamed of. God became more real to me a few months ago than he had ever been in my entire life, despite how I was raised. Now I'm not gonna stick around for the comments. I could argue, but like I said, the intellectual battle isn't what matters here. You know my story, or at least a summary. Now I'll say one last thing: With God you're all in or you're all out. There's no playing it safe and no reason to. Go all the way or go back to sleep.... Friggin English assignment. Just looked at this... I said more than one thing. Deepest apologies. Friggin English assignment.
