  1. And you know it has kind of always irked me how school shootings in these rural towns (such as the one I live in) get so much news and popularity, perhaps tongue in cheek popularity, but yet I would venture to say there are at least twice as many inner city shootings at schools or playgrounds than in rural areas. Yet no one feels bad for the inner city ones. No one even bats an eye.
  2. Pow if you haven't already, The Used's last album Lies For The Liars would suit you perfectly.
  3. I'm pretty sure that flag doesn't even have 50 stars haha.
  4. You know actually in the history of my high school, there has never been any type of weapon brought into the school. I know that within a 100 mile radius of me (excluding Minneapolis and St. Paul) that there has NEVER been a school shooting or gun brought to school. I hate to make the stereotype, but I believe that the inner city schools are the ones that would need guns there. What I say is post guards at side entrances and put metal detectors at the doors. I really don't understand why people are so happy to accept guns in a classroom and I realy have to wonder if I am the last person on earth that sees putting guns in the hands of teachers going down a terrible road. I think the last time I saw guns in a classroom was from some old videos in history class, but it was tough to understand what was going on since they were doing this weird high-stepping walk and talking in German.
  5. Because it's easy; conveinient. I'm not even saying actually shooting the gun, but threatening a student with it is just as wrong in my eyes. A teacher could say "The student was threatening me and I felt it necessary to use my gun to calm him or her down." Teacher's word against student's. Whose are your going to take? All your other rebuttle please see my part about schools being "sanctuary". It's not that I don't want a person having a gun, rather the fact that guns in a classroom is absolutely ridiculous. It's a place of learning, not a place of fear.
  6. So you're saying because a person doesn't agree with what the government is doing they should just "shut the hell up" or go try to overthrow them? That doesn't make any sense at all. People disagreeing with the gov't has been going on for ages and that's WHY we were given free speech. If I had a way to get Bush out of office believe me, I would have done it years ago, but to say that people that complain about how badly the system is bending us over daily should shut up, is ridiculous. EDIT: 666th post. Throw up the horns.
  7. Yeah what happens if they just flip, I've had plenty of teachers flip on me. Most of them turn red in the face and scream at the top of their lungs at me or another kid. Now put a gun on them. You're telling me that they're going to exercise enough self control to not even THINK about using it or pulling it out? I don't think so. Schools and churches are two of the last places on earth you can go for sanctuary. You're supposed to feel safe there and you're supposed to be able to learn. Guns will nullify all of that.
  8. For Emma by Bon Iver "For every life... Forgoe the parable. Seek the light. ...My knees are cold." So beautiful.
  9. Not anymore, at least not as fast as before. Training on monsters is about as affective, if not more. Other than that, wonderful post. :D
  10. Don't need to show off my stats. If people feel the need to know them, they can either ask or look them up. Of course I'll always tell if I'm asked.
  11. The idea for the article was good, but I'm sorry, the writing was all over the place and didn't really follow one continuous theme until it was summed up for us at the end. Like I said, nice concept, poor writing.
  12. Laxative commercials. It's always some middle aged woman telling me how Dulcolax is "Right for me". Just what I need: A middle aged woman with a malfunctioning colon telling me that I need a laxative. Go crap your brains out woman and leave me the hell out of it. Genital Herpes commercials are a close second, but they haven't been on as much as they used to.
  13. People that judge others with no prior knowledge of said person. People that have no compassion or empathy.
  14. I can understand why you would want a conceal and carry in public locations, but to have any type of gun in a classroom is honestly where I draw the line. The only guns should be at the entrance where a trained security guard or policeman is.
  15. Jackattak, I retract my statement to and about you. I've found the real person I was looking for.
  16. I really don't understand how you can not wear jeans or cargos. Unless you're running throughout the day or come in contact with large amounts of filth and garbage every day where you need to wear a jumpsuit, you just kind of look trashy wearing sweatpants or athletic pants all the time.
  17. Yeah they do usually get other jobs, but why on earth would a person become a teacher if they hate so much the three months off and such low pay as you say they do? Could it be because they love to teach? Or maybe it's because they love the subject they're teaching. Surely if they were such upstanding intellectuals they could have taken a much easier road to a job with more pay and better scheduling. Some teachers that I know take summer jobs at UPS. Because of the pay? Not at all, but rather because UPS gives amazing benefits in healthcare and insurance. It's all in how you look at it. If you want to say that you don't get paid for 3 months and mope about it, fine. But if you look at it as an opportunity to take some time off to be with your family or to take vacations, then you might have a little better outlook on life. I don't know of many jobs that pay upwards of $30,000 per year out of college, yet still give 3 months off. Many teachers take paid coaching positions within the district which allows them to get paid and stay involved in some of their past sports they were in and many others complete a master's degree to get even more salary. Those are all reasons why I'm definitely becoming a high school teacher.
  18. Arming more people in hope of control is nevaaa a good idea. And nice sig ;)
  19. They might not make much money, but they do get 3 months off and once they're tenured, it's a very secure job. Believe me, I'm going to school to be a teacher. And that bs about most of them aren't married is far from the truth. With the exception of teachers that are fresh out of the universities, most teachers ARE married. EDIT: I did a little research and in my former high school 54 of the 63 Faculty members were either married or engaged to be married as of last year. So unless my high school is a statistical anomaly, I find your point to be moot.
  20. [/facepalm] Just what we need: More guns.
  21. *Probably* the most knowledgeable and mature poster on TIF, jackattack.
  22. I saw Cloverfield last night. I want that 90 minutes back. What a waste of time.
  23. People can burn whatever the hell they want, including flags.
  24. I love my Jeep. It has never had any major problems in the 4 years I've owned it or in the 15 years it's been around. Pre-1994 Jeep Cherokees will NEVER break down on you. Just drive them nice and they'll run for ages.
  25. This last year I dated a Freshman as a Senior and she was...uh 2 years 10 months younger. I took a lot of heat for it, but in the end no one really cared. It's just people wanting to gossip about things or to make fun of you because of their lacking of a boyfriend or girlfriend.
