Tool owns prog metal. They've been around for nearly 20 years and have never released a garbage album. Every Tool album is crafted to the finest detail and average is never accepted by the members. The maturity of the band is quite astounding.

I saw them when they played St. Paul. It was absolutely awesome, they played for 3 and a half hours straight. No warm up band either. But bands I have seen live: Rage Against the Machine at Alpine Valley Ampitheatre. 45,000 people crammed into an outdoor ampitheatre to see Rage play their 3rd concert in 8 years. Truly the most magical event I have experienced in my life. My favorite was the one where the guy's wife hated him reading all the time so he would take his lunch breaks in the vault reading at the bank where he worked. One day there was a nuclear holocaust of some sort, but since he was in the vault he was alive. Guy walks out and finds everyone dead, but finds the local library intact. Goes and grabs a pile of books and is about to sit down to read them all when his coke bottle-esque glasses fall to the ground and he steps on them, breaks them, leaving him completely blinded.

Seriously? You must not listen to much music if you classify Jack White or John Mayer as the best. They might be able to write a catchy tune, but their technical ability is nowhere near most of the guitarists listed so far
