    Today...

Pretty much spring break starting. I've been up until 7am partying with friends I haven't seen in a couple months the last two nights. We took a little drive into the country and stole a stop sign last night. It was pretty epic. I can provide pics if necessary. Pics! pics! Ask and you shall receive. The top one is mine and the bottom is the one my uncle stole. The reflection is from the light in my garage.
  2. Yeah, the bots seem to be thriving once again in the LRC after a small dip in frequency last week.

Suppose it makes up for my lack of sleep during the week. Hung it in the garage above the stop sign my uncle stole when he was in college :shades:

    Today...

My Sister brought me my pre-ordered copy of The Wise Man's Fear today. I finally have some time to read for pleasure since it's spring break.
  6. If they're going to make changes to Slayer, I'd rather not see it in the form of ANOTHER boss monster. Give us something more difficult than Darkbeasts (lol) but make sure you can still receive a good amount of xp/hr by having it assigned. I'm not picky about its race or combat style.
  7. I've watched every House episode there is and even though I'll still watch every episode they make, I wish they'd cancel it, really I do.
  8. Providing closure in a television show can be rather difficult. They're designed to keep the viewer coming back each week by almost never providing full closure at the end of an episode or season. A good example is the difficulty that the creators of Lost encountered. It's tough to please everyone with a "last episode"...just look at Seinfeld. Oh, and maybe this should be moved to MM&T?

    Unions

Well, if you're comparing non-four year jobs' salaries to those which teachers' salaries, then you're comparing apples and oranges. I'm not asking you to do research for me. I've lived in WI my entire life and am pretty well-informed about the subject on the whole which is more than I can say for you. You came on this topic cussing and ranting and haven't proved how your argument is even relevant to the discussion. Teachers make more money than burger-flippers? God, I never would have guessed.

    Unions

I want to get this straight. Which private sector occupations are you comparing teachers' salaries to? The only thing I got from that article was how much a Milwaukee teacher made annually (which I already knew).

    Today...

I found out that my Music Theory mid-term is going to be the Friday morning following St. Patrick's Day. [bleep] this.
  15. This Smithing update is going to suck. I just know it.
  16. Such a great movie. We had a debate in math class about it. Some people said it was crap. I have no idea how the hell they can think that. Love that movie. Most people aren't able to comprehend movies on any level beyond the story and music. That's how.
  17. It's easy to speed when there's only one cop on duty in your town. I know the feeling
  18. Hey, your first run-in with the cops for driving like a teenager. I can almost guarantee it won't be the last time you drive like that, trust me.
  19. I re-watched Apocalypse Now today and it was awesome. That movie is rapidly becoming one of my all-time favorites.
  20. So you'll take next week's featured article slot, then?
  21. Wait...you mean The Best of Bread? I thought so...

    Unions

According to this site, they don't make half as much as the private sector, its about 4.8% less. Okay I read the numbers COMPLETELY wrong from the site I was on when I made my first post, I went back and checked. Ignore that two times crap I said.

    Unions

Looks like the union can form about 20 PAC's, funnel as much money into them as they please, and then let the PAC's donate their maximum amount to the candidate. Either way, organizations receiving or looking to receive government contracts should not be able to donate to political campaigns. I understand there is a freedom of speech issue, but how corrupt is it when the company awarded a billion dollar contract kicks back a few million to the politicians that supported them, or will support them in the future? Same thing for unions - we're taking our government awarded contracts to give money to the politicians that will give us more. While this is true, the governor's campaign (which has the highest limits) is only allowed a little over one million in total. This bill is ridiculous in WI. It is not about balancing the budget. Before Walker came into office there was a SURPLUS in the budget. He gave tax breaks to businesses, creating the shortfall. That coupled with the unnecessary removal of collective bargaining rights equates a direct attack on unions. He has been trying to bust unions since he was a peon in Milwaukee county. Is union busting really a bad thing though? Unions have led to the downfall of many otherwise strong American businesses such that eliminating them would strengthen the state as a whole (and hopefully improve education) Like I said earlier, I believe that they should take some cuts like everyone else. The cuts should not be too drastic, though, and here's why. I would argue that the money should NOT come from some of the poorest paid PROFESSIONALS in the state. We are talking about people whose equals (degree-wise) in the private sector make about 2 times more money. On top of money, we are talking about quality of education. It has been proven that for every $1 spent on early education, society will see $11 back over the life of that child (source). I would include teacher salaries in this discussion. If this bill passes, what reason would any good WI educator have to stay in the state? Without unions to protect their pay, these teachers can and should seek jobs elsewhere. Republican lawmakers are claiming that this will lead to 'competition', but how can we compete when we offer teachers less than anywhere else? (this is assuming the bill gets passed)
