  1. How about a minigame that is basically an arena/boss rush mode. Take all the enemies and their basic levels, faced 10 in a row one by one, and give points for the successful defeat of them. This could turn the randomness of combat into a structured monetary return like a skill. For example, a level one boss rush would start with a minotaur, and end with a cockroach soldier, with enemies in the strongholds inbetween. A level 10 boss rush, on the other hand, would begin with evlarg and end with the TzTok-Jad, with famous boses from quests and dungeons. The difference between the two would be: 1) you would never get a godsword shard or a fire cape on completition; 2)there would be no helpers, making them easier to solo; and 3) there would be no restocking of items between rounds, and if you skipped out, you would have to do the whole round over again. this, combined with a point system, with tradable rewards and an item that can be bought in bulk with a high demand, like the essence in the gop, and this could be a winner.

  3. I played in rsc when there was no guides or warnings for anything, and i enjoyed it a hell of a lot more, whatever happened to challenges and learning through experience?. I agree with you there on some levels. SOMETIMES we need guides to help us get along a bit. RSC was a relatively simple game back then, with the massive content now available to memebers. Sometimes we need some sort of guides to keep the frustration low. not to mention you were trying a relatively new game with a relatively small player base. In essence, you were adventuring with a new game, and therefore admire the adventure. Think of people that look at one of the most successful mmo's in the wold and decide to give it a try. Without warning and any knowledge, they are sufficently disembowled and sent to lumby, and if they weren't taught how to use a bank, with their life savings down the great runescape drain. Lets face it, noobs that create an account and play around with it, learning what can kill them and what can help them through lessons more than trial and error, will soon become either respected long term players and will pad the pockets of jagex quite well, or will become irrational peices of used toilet paper and will pad the pockets of jagex quite well. What i'm trying to say is that those tutorials arn't for you, they are for the casual gamer and a vital part of jagex's source of income. Without these, players would grow tired of being consistantly killed whether going north, south, east, west, up, down, or any variance inbetween, and will just quit, giving jagex mere pennies for f2p adds. Thankfully, with higher level quests and content, they can give something back to the player that is the adventurer, and let them profit greatly from it, as seen from the multi billion dollar releases seen in the past year. However there will always be some astral voice wispering in your ear that you might get killed. Sure, it might be common sense, but it's necessarry to keep people from running in with hundreds, thousands, or even millions of gold and items.

  6. Correct. However, the level of maturity needed for this to take place has no measurable units and cannot be proven, leaving this as accepted fact due to scientific theroy. As the level of maturity increases, the ill effects of violent multimedia decreases, to a point where a significantly mature person suffers no ill effects and begins to produce a gain from this. However, under this rule, everyone has a level of maturity instead of a distinct boolean mature or immature labeling, which gives the bounds for this fact to be appropiately changed to TV/Game violence has NO negative effects on significantly mature people. The relation of this fact can only be seen as theoretical and distinctive to audiences with intrest in human and social patterns, so the fact given above has been seen as the correct generic ruling, rating mature as greater than the positive limit of the level of maturity necessarry to reduce negative effects of violent multimedia, given as a function f(maturity), to a null amount. (whew, now for a question) It has been found that, burried under ice in the antartic continent, that pinguins once had a constructive culture ten thousand years ago, with a resembelance to european and asian countries from king and emperor pinguins, respectively. This has also been founded of a now extinct breed of pinguin, which has been called by leading scientific profesionals as the president pinguin. It is believed that they were destroyed by having their bodily structure crushed by an internal force.

  9. The constant fear that you're forgetting something, causing you to consistantly re-research facts so that you're fully informed. for example, i have an exam, this thursday, at 2pm i have quite literially looked at my exam schedule about 10 times a day just to make sure what i knew is what i knew Also the dreams that leave you wondering if it was a dream. Ties into the previous fear quite nicely when you think you overslept and missed your exam Especially when you wake up and it's only tuesday...
  10. That makes sense...and it would be impossiable to place the second floor because the 'background' would be hiding everything that's under it. In fact, if it wasn't for the fact that the black background wasn't extended a bit further in the corp beast lair, we wouldn't be able to see the edge of the dark warriors fortress and therefore this topic wouldn't exist EDIT: that reminds me, has anyone gone back to the corp beast's lair with visable layers turned to current? That point still draws my curiousity, and i have no members access
  11. i'd imagine that they will have to do like world of warcraft, make bigger levels, more powerful equipment, better spells, foods, and items and f2p won't get dragon weapons and armour, it would just make all the monsters and everything underpowered, making them give more powerful monsters, which need better food, which need more content, more areas, more, more, more (insert rebel yell here)
  12. seeming that most of the posts in this would be either joking or completely implausable due to the grand minority group's disapproval of the subject based on standard human rights (i'm looking at you government birth controll), there is only one thing that i would do as prime minister of Canada: spend $50 million of tax payers money when i step down from parliment and mail everyone an individually wrapped cookie with a card saying it was fun while it lasted.

  16. Uhm that's the most, most stupid thing I've heard this weekend ><.. And I"ve been browsing the tipit forums a lot these days! Really runescape is just a 2 dimensional array! - 1 big large array. And all, yes all dungeons are put "north" of the wilderness. - You can check this at the fairy-"plane": clues work there.. Also how I knew this? - Well your character location is stored as an unsigned integer at your pc. So reading the correct address gives you that location, anybody with a little bit of computerscience (and then I don't mean that stupid code jamming, I mean actual knowing how a computer/JAVA inner workings are) can retrieve this information with ease... (I didn't, had to have some help from a friend to work this out). But really: they can't really release that much of "north" anymore, I believe the distance between northern most wilderness to the fairy location is only as big as the wilderness itself. (Though they can stretch it, doing this might lead to "bugs" in things such as teleports, "walk areas" etc.. You're partially right...it's really(from my understanding of the development diary for hd water effects) a 3 dimensional array so that say a space numbered 1, 1, 1 would be the ground floor by a building, so that the space 1, 1, 2, would the the space on the second floor, above the 1, 1, 1 space. If they had something there, they would have it referenced to the 1, 1, 2 space, such as a floor on a second story. however, if there is nothing there, or in the case of low detail blackness, then it would reference the 1, 1, 2, space to the 1, 1, 1 space(modified to adjust for the change in height), and give the design from there. Since this would be a standard method in high detail mode, this would explain why you can see the ground in the area while in the corp beast lair, as slightly above it. To test this (since i'm not a member at the moment), turn visable levels to current, and take the pictures again. If it is a 3 dimensional array (as i suggest) then the area's you spotted will not be there. If the poster above me is correct, this area will still be shown. Of course all we can do is speculate, since i doupt either one of us works at Jagex and knows exactally how they do it. For example, they might have several 3 dimensional arrays, to accurately portray all the areas as three dimensional. We can't really know for sure. NO IT"S NOT A 3D ARRAY. Really, how stubborn can you be... JAVA ONLY SUPPORTS UP TO 2D ARRAYS! I LOOKED INTO THE WAY THE DATA IS STORED, YOU CAN SEE FROM THE LAYOUT ON YOUR PHYSICAL MEMORY THAT IT'S A 2D ARRAY! Ever heard of pointers in C-family? JAVA uses a similar technique although it's made completely transparant for the programmer. This is what makes java so easy, but also makes java terribly slow and easily "hackable"! ok...calm down...it's just the internet... i didn't know the impossiability of 3D arrays, and i thank you for bringing this up. However, on a development diary: this gives insight on several different levels of the runescape plane and their relation to height. I thought that the best way to do this would be for a 3D array, but 5 2D arrays would do just as well, with a reference to another seperate varable(or class, depending how they program it)
  17. Well naturally, no, I don't think anyone could. But, they earned the money, so they can choose to do whatever they want with it. Here's my personal stance, while yes, everyone should donate, no one has to. If you worked your [wagon] off your whole life, wouldn't you want to enjoy the fruits of your labor? Whether it's 40,000, 400,000, 4,000,000, or even 40,000,000 dollars, it's yuor money, keep it. And actually, a lot do give to charity, simply because it's a tax write off, and taxes are a [bleep] for rich people. You usually see people on TV who don't give to charity, but many do, Warren Buffet for one. I think he donated a whole hell of a lot to Africa. not to mention just how hard it is to have money "kicking around" most of the people that are rich usually have most of their funds taken up in investments for later, to get them more money. While doing this is another form of tax write off, it's much better than just giving your money away, especially for the sake of security, joy of life, and emergency procedures. If you have cancer, are you better off with 20 000 saved up for 20 000 000 saved up?

  19. life is fair to a point Hannah Montanna, in the example above, is not some lucky tart that got millions overnight. She allows herself to be manipulated into an object that the people will admire, and is paid a fraction, just as the companies that support and brought her up. Coprorate CEOs are brillant people, that look at all the facts and know when to make the right investments. They have been harmed in this recession too, as many banks, and as a result corporations, are feeling financial strain. But why should they give out billions of their money when they might need that security down the road. Fortune is not a peice of elitesm or greed, it's security. Hate to tell it to you, but the people that make the money usually deserve it. And the people that don't make the money, in most cases, don't. Luck of course plays a role, but not as often as you might think.
  20. I'm 127% sure that it already is. I don't even need to have seen the shirt to know it exists. 127% of facts you hear are made up on the spot. I thought it was 72.354% I was going to reply and say, "no, it's something like 71.365%," but then I decided to be anal instead. It's okay to make up percentages when they apply to something as relative as how "sure" I am. In fact, I'm at least 133.5874% sure that that's right. and remember, 9 out of 10 people believe that, out of 10 people, 1 will disagree with the other 9 OT: i have to force breathing when i'm on the gym, and a laugh everytime i come to the off topic forums then i get lightheaded because i'm too focused on breathing then i get lightheadeder because i'm not breathing because i was focused on breathing then i take a nap and post
