  1. Don't forget there's a quest and an event. And the quest is gonna stick around for the two weeks. Maybe a dungeon with lv 50 ghosts that drop reaper armour?
  2. What i found funny is that this pertains exclusively to P2P members and not F2P. Sure, we've always been at a disadvangage for making profit from certain skills (for example, smithing exclusively, having to just make bars to turn a profit) but combat has always been an elusive money maker, with our highest drop being a rune square shield. Before, the only real reason to train combat was to get to the point of fighting these monsters or player vs player. So now, it's gotten to a point where the f2p skillers have taken the place of the gold farmers, gladly willing to mine, cut, smith, and cook to get the raw materials for p2p so they can fletch, hunt, and construct, for a good profit due to the newfound demand (for example, limpwrut root at 947gp med price today)
  3. remember peoples, the way i described it, there would be no net exchange for ores after the first exchange. 26 unnoted would change to 26 noted, and any money would be pure profit. As such, it could be done with anything: ores, essence, logs, bones, monster 100% drops...the list goes on, as long as the trade balances out. So, it's more of a cost for travel than the cost of goods, at a rate of 2k a trip, a trip every 3 minutes. The way i thought of it, it would be a good way to get noobs to help with training instead of begging. And as much as we like to hear how much we were noobs when we were new players, i'm pretty sure there's about 50 topics for that already. Please stay on topic.
  4. With the new trade restrictions and all quests, a player can trade 10k every 15 minutes. Before, the only way to ore run was to get someone to run a load of ore to get noted, and trade back the noted ore for an inventory of unnoted ore. Now that more money can be given at a time, at a rate of 667gp a minute, or 26 gold per minute for each avaliable inventory space (-1 for noted recieved, and -1 for money stash), then a 2 minute mining of iron ore can be paid a maximum of 52 gold per ore, or 1352 gp per trip, and if kept up can end in a runner getting a rather nice 40k an hour for his troubles, and the miner getting 780 ores. Now imagining this with iron, 40k an hour for a runner with all quest points and the profit of 780 iron ore for the miner, which is at now about 75k, and 27.3k experience. For the debate, is this fair, who would run for it, and is it a viable way to speed up mining and get beggars to earn their money. Keep in mind that the facts assume two things: that one can keep a constant mining and trades go without a hitch to keep the speed, as well as both participants having the 40 quest points.
  5. idk, i have 71 combat with a mix, fight melee with 62 attack, 58 strength, and 52 defence, and with a stock of 26 stews, i kill about 9 or 10 a trip without prayer. as for drops...lets just say i once came out killing 10 and got 50 gp  and once i came out with about 50k
  6. whenever i teleport to the cabbage patch, i yell out " cabbage power activate!!!"
  7. loot: the definiation of any object that is left over when one's oponnent is killed. How this came to be, how you get it, and how a cow can go from a living breathing organizim to a neat pile of bones, a perfectly cut peice of cowhide, and a 2 inch steak, is largely unexplained, however it can be seen in 2 ways. First of all, the monsters actually do have pockets, in which they hold everything from 42 gold peices to a rune square shield. However, this does not explain why a cow would be mad enough to carry around a neat pile of bones, a perfectly cut peice of cowhide, and a 2 inch steak in it's back pocket. Secondly, this can be seen as a divine reward for your good work from your avatar. However, this again holds problems, as if your avatar willed you so much to succeed in the eyes of the gods, why would he only give you 5 gold peices for killing a level 86 cockroach soldier. For the popular opinion of this, see jagex. and i'll keep on thinking and bumping this thread with on topic discussions so that we'll stay at the top
  8. Congratulations, you're the new editor to the Hitchhiker's Guide to Runescape. OT: avatar: as noted several times above, also known as the owner, manipulator, and the being responsible for your average adventurer, making even the mighty zezima sound like a simple pet to these beings. These otherworldly beings are, in all ways, responsible for the adventurer, and take this responsibility in several ways. One is the most responsible of ways, and lead to constructive and excelling adventurers. Then there are adventurers that only appear to be awake about 15 minutes a day, just to mine a couple loads of coal or to fletch some arrows, then go soundly back to sleep. And on the other side of the proverbial spectrum, there are adventurers that seem to never sleep, constantly working on a single activity for days on end. However, while this does not lead to any negative effects to the adventurer, there have been stories of avatars falling to even more powerful beings that, in the words of the anchients, "restrict their time on the computer". and finally, an excript from the wise old man's work with one of the most powerful arcane beings, leading to the wise old man's power and this unknown being's transition to what is known now as the cahos elemental. Wise old man: "Oh great being of unlimited power, what is the answer to life, the universe and everything?" Unkown Person:"The answer to life..." WOM: "Yes..." UP:"...the universe..." WOM:"...yes..." UP:...and everything?" WOM:"...YES!" UP:"..." WOM:"Well?" UP:"You're not gonna like it..." WOM:"Doesn't matter, i need to know!" UP:"..." "..." "..." WOM: "WELL?!" UB: "...99."
  9. jagex: a confusing subject indeed, it should be noted that most adventurers talk of this being as a god, responsible for creation of all of runescape as well as the confusing and often conflicting rules that this world follows. As a result, dispite their immense power and supreme judgement, they are seen as an evil god. Before zamarock is blamed for death and bandos is blamed for destruction, the most common phrase, interestingly, is to blame jagex for making it unfair and too hard. Before gruthix is blamed for the changing of the eternal rules of runescape, jagex is blamed for nerfing the activity. Before sardomin is blessed for removing the evils of the world and making the game easier and more concrete, removing fear of failure, jagex is verbally lynched for removing the wildy and introducing the GE. Sorry, had to do this one, i'll think of more later.
  10. membership: a type of language given to an elitest few that are given benefits by the gods of runescape to use excellent items, partake in more difficult quests, given arcane knowledge in skills, and access to a number of different areas, but most notably the loss of a voice in the head that tells them that they cannot do, use, or partake in such activities. (this will be talked about below). Scholars debate about how this title is earned, and many different theories have been defined, the leading theroy being that all the designs of runescape given the freedom that an NPC(given below) is declined, have an avatar outside of the realm of runescape, that eternally seek to please the gods by their follower's activites, until given the divine acceptance to take part in these activities. Of course, the wise old man continually talks that the adventurer's ability means nothing to the gods, and the passing of a few hundred gold peices means more to the divine beings, but noone really listens to it. NPC(non player characters): these characters, while normal people in their own respects, do not have the avatar (as discussed above) that normal adventurers have, and are therefor lost in the grand world that is runescape. while most normal people have the desire to explore and excell, these npcs stick to one small area, afraid of loosing their place in the world. However, and even more unexplainable, they have been given even more powerful abilities, such as giving access to the runescape bank, selling near endless amounts of items, and even ruling over large amounts of land. This is all without explanation, but most adventurers don't think about it because they only use these powers to help the adventurers, givien their distraught fear of anything outside of their area. Inventory Space: while most adventurers only see this as a square in a list of things that they have ready access to, the science behind this is actually much more complex, which helps to explain how a peice of rune essence takes up one space each, while runes stack all into one space. It is actually 28 devoted assistants, which all have guidelines, rules, and special abilities to assist the adventurer's. These assistants, assigned by the adventurer's avtar, have devoted listings, as well as equipment, to hold heavy ores, preserve food for easy consumption, and hold billions of smaller items such as runes and coins, and an unexplainable explanation as to why you can not make gold coins out of a gold bar. How these assistants came to be, why adventurers never see them, and why we are only given 28 of these immencely useful beings is still unknown, but is probably the act of our avatar. i'll think of more as i come across it
  11. No, you cant use the unsigned version of the applet. Its a fail, because I dont see how everyone else claims that world switching is fine yet a select few are the only ones with a problem. i believe it is because it is a select few with a problem and it is because everyone else is fine. and i still thank you for your help. if you still can't understand it, you can have your fail back
  12. everyone has their own life to live. for some examples: for one who plays for only a little bit at a time--a simple casual gamer that really has fun just logging in and doing stuff. Doesn't look to level up or anything, but just to waste time. On average, no more than 5 hours a week, and rarely more than twice a week unless it's just checking up. i'm one of these, has fun with the occassional mining, but has a job and fun the one who plays regularly--one who sets long term goals, or just does things that he or she feels like doing. not no-lifing, but a bit more serious than the above. 10-15 hours a week is good, and generally has quite a few good levels that one can feel proud of. the one who no-lifes--obviously has nothing else to do. no job, secluded, or just simply doesn't care, there are a number of reasons. sure they can go out and have lives, and i'm sure a number of people that can be considered no-lifers do so, just not as regularly as people would think. wheher one is just a casual gamer that plays on some down time to try it or just plays because it's fun, or at the other end of the spectrum that plays the game singularly, surely each has their own life with their own parameters. to call each part a waste of life is simply saying that life is not worth living. This is getting long winded. to recap, one can have 10 hours a day playing and one can never have a skill over 50. but they have fun and enjoy life, so as long as they are enjoying themselves, there is no harm then there is the true no-lifers, the one you hear about in the news that burry themselves in their room. This is the true crazy populous. if one engulfs themselves over a game, then one has no respect for the life they were given, no matter how much fun they have. so please, no-life responsibly. off topic: i'd like to see one person with a perfect social life
  13. true true, not to mention that most people don't even take the value of time into consideration. decline the offer and make them learn
  14. and thank you for that help. Unfortunately i don't have admin access to this computer so i can't use anything but the unsigned but thank you for helping and you get a cookie

    lockey time

When jagex first introduced the world switch function i was estatic. No more world switching by constantly going back to world switch and reloading the game every single... loading...0%...17%...63%...100%... ...time i want to switch worlds. Miner by trade at level 76, and i hate sharing. The world switch function in the game made it so much easier to get an empty place, and was the only way to mass mine addy and rune. But now... loading...2%...38%...81%...100%... ...this function is completely gone, without reason that i can find. and in a seemingly random... loading...7%...19%...74%...100%... ...update with the hd, there is no way to quickly... loading...1%...26%...57%...100%... ...change worlds, and not even a world... loading...23%...48%...83%...100%... ...select on the main page, it takes longer... loading...16%...31%...73%...100%... ...and longer... loading...28%...56%...91%...100%... ...and longer get get to a good spot. I know this is annoying, but it's the only way to accurately display my displeasement with this. It's just a simple fix. Please Jagex, bring back the in game world switcher!!!!!!!!!!!! edit: please lock and send to some dark abyss somewhere, the delima has been solved
  16. ok, i don't know if this has been brough up before, but it's a rather strange glitch and could be used quite effectively. Basically, when the counter is almost done the 10 minutes, click on the minimap so that the red flag that shows where you're running shows up. I did this when i was the hunted running towards the center. Just when the 10 minute timer is done, you will automatically switch roles, but your spot will remain to where you were moving to. Following the example, i had run on when i became the hunter, and was doing the usual countdown where you couldn't move. But i was running towards the center of the arena, getting there before i said go. I have yet to take full advantage of this glitch, and never will. Also reported to Jagex, but thought i would share my find here too.
  17. quit reading forums and do somehting in runescape to earn money looks like i'm not following my own advice
  18. so tip it sees great power in this debate...then 2 cents it is on one penny, we see rwt in a horrid way, with free trade taken away and the only way to gain money to either wait for days or go to bounty hunter. No more little men crowding up the servers doing things like yews or flax, and with the amount of stuff jagex put in like the ge and the infinate store stock (a completely different debate i'm sure, but that's for another time) runescape has become a better, if not drastically different game. on the other penny, now events are on the horizion that bring back rwt...and if it wasn't for the fact that most of these include either giving away passwords to let other people play the game, they might actually be taken seriously. what i'm surprised is that you don't see things like buy a friend services, where you pay a company real money and they help you by bringing you free food while you're fighting or just giving you money as you mine or fish or whatever you want to do. of course, going back to the first penny, this all pales in comparision to the times when rwt could be done at the click of a button, and jagex has been continuing to raise awareness of these, that even the greatest promise could be a scam(again, another debate). so the real question is not how to combat it, but should it be combated. obviously both players and rwt's are going above and beyond the call of duty to buy or sell an illegal service. but it's definately not being done on the same scale as before, and what is being done is a lot harder and riskier than before, which is exactly what rwt is not about. So...this got sort of ranty and not debatey. Should the rwt keep on fishing once the trout moved upstream, metaphorically speaking. RWT is a hassle more than anything. The list of potentional customers is laughable now that the effort that goes into it is either the same as it would be playing the game or the risk is not worth the reward. off topic:As for how much time someone should be playing runescape, as much as they want. if someone can have fun for 36 hours of runescape, i'm sure they will have the most pleasant nap afterwards.
  19. ok, this is good for p2p, but what about f2p. Reading some of the responses, this would be a greater idea seeming it is safer and the drops arn't as breaking as a sara hilt or something like that. this is just an idea, but what about putting in a f2p event in the stronghold of player safety. That way, there is only a few different monsters that have average drops that most people would have anyway. The low levels could fight the drones and workers and not feel excluded like with a gwd run where they would get immeadeately squished with their equipment. not to mention the dungeon is big enough that there could be a hundred people and everyone could still attack and have fun. of course this is just an example, there's also places like the stronghold of security, faldor castle, maybe even renevant hunts if there's that many crazy people  but a gwd or a kq run might be a bit elitest for most players, even if they are members. of course don't take into consideration that i'm a f2p  ah well, my opinion still counts, right? ... right... edit: and that will teach me to read the tet of the week before posting #-o
  20. step 1, wildy: the npcs are a nice change, pking will have to wait till everything is figured out, glad i can finally get the addy ores without having some level 100 guy killing me as soon as i get 27 ore step 2, trading: the worst, imo, as gift giving takes a hit. but really, how else can one do it? if they keep a free trading system, then rwt will continue no matter what fancy little things they put on. as far as i'm concerned, rwt will still continue and just take 2 minutes longer, plus the amount of time it takes for a far off monster to kill them. which brings us to... step 3, dying: just let us keep the items if we die to an npc, jagex! step 4, droping: ballenced out with the number of newbs going to wildy to pick up free arrows and runes without fear an option: abolish trading altogether, make shops with jagex chosen prices, and turn the game into a game with chat program. they had the social extreme, and instead of going to the glorified single player campaign, they chose middle ground, the proverbial middle road. Give it a chance oh, and pkers: nyah nyah :P you can't kill me!!! anything else to rant about...oh, yea. it's called a game. games make money. money runs games. and i so loled when jagex essencially said 'ok, you had enough updates players. time for us to get one' so enjoy the game and be quiet, or go to another game and be quiet. note the mandatory step
  21. ok, rant time again \ first of all, for all those saying that f2p should get more bank space, get on topic. this is an anti-f2p bank space. not a 'well, maybe if we switch this around and give f2p a new place to store' forum topic. Not a 'well, f2p can have bank space, but p2p should get it too' forum topic. This is a 'no f2p bank space' forum topic. Secondly, getting back on topic, runescape is supposted to be a game. Games are supposted to be challenging. Therefor, runescape should be challenging. Hense the reason that it takes 372 344 iron to get to level 15 to level 99 mining. If free members were given more bank space, it would make the game easier. if you asked mining to give more experience, would it be such an achievement? Basically, the same people that complain about bank space already think the game is too hard. They are the same people that complain about only being able to hold 28 items, that there isn't enough coal rocks or yew trees, and that the lobster fishing spot is nowhere near a bank. Guess what freebies, it's time to ante up. We have what we got, and an occasional little free bit. That's what we get for free.
  22. as a dedicated free player, i can safely say that i don't need more bank space. I have everything i need for every skill, and still room for a frog suit, rune armor, and full sara  The trick is to just get rid of stuff. let your bank be your motivation. You have 200 lobbies and 500 uncooked, then cook them. 300 yews to sell, then sell them. even as simple as a ruby that you want to craft. and if all else fails, everything is worth money :P so, why don't we all quit complaining and play the game. after all, games are supposted to be challenging. Would runescape still be a challenge if you had space to have everything you want in the bank? that one simple chisel or hammer you needed to be conviently placed? to have every change of uniform avaliable to you? and if anyone makes an argument of the random event uniforms, my gf has all of the f2p random event costumes, and still room for full rune armor, gold wizzard robes, green dragonhide set, and all the skill items. She just keeps a few resources on hand for whatever she works on and high alchs anything finnished. So, to recap, quit complaining and learn to priortize why you need this bank space in the first place.
  23. Ok, this might just be opinion, but i'll do it anyway  Did you know that iron ore is actually the most profitable for f2p. It mines a lot quicker than coal and can sell easily for 100gp each, where coal, if you're lucky takes three times as long and if you're unlucky can take half a minute. Not to mention that coal goes for anywhere between 170-200 gold. Again if you're lucky, you'll mine a load of coal and break even with one less trip to the bank, but iron is always just a second at high level. iron=28*1 second+30 second bank run=58seconds, and 2800 gp coal=28*3 seconds+30 second bank run=114 seconds, and up to 5600gp 2800gp/58 seconds=48gp/second 5600gp/114 seconds=49gp/second time yourself between 2 loads of iron and one load of coal, see the difference for yourself. \
