  1. From my understanding, firemaking, fletching, and cooking have some of the highest constant experience per hour in relation to cost. The idea is they are cheap and fast to level. While each that you mentioned are buyable, they are much more expensive and take longer. All that aside, COMBAT can COST(S) NOTHING and is as easy as point and click. My point is high combats are no more impressive than cooking or fletching, much less firemaking which is tedious. So since fm, cooking, and fletching are 'so easy to level' any player should be able to beat me leveling combat, right? My points is they can't and I will prove that.
  2. Yeah I would love to see it happen as well. I am just worried that if anyone actually takes me up on this, that they will not be as dedicated. I am just tired of people's opinions of 'buyable' stats being so low. I earned my 'buyable' skill capes and by God I want to be appreciated for them.
  3. I am sure that we are all familar with the idea that the skills mentioned are buyable thus making the capes less impressive. I have always been disappointed in this mentality because it deminishes the work that those players put forth for their accomplishment. Even if these skills are buyable one must think about the amount of time that it took the player to get enough gold (even if 2m is nothing to some of us, that is quite a bit for some not to mention the fact that it takes a while to get 2m) AND the amount of time that player had to put in for the 99. Regardless of whether they bought the materials or not, they still had to stand at a fire/range/chest/bank or click repeatively for hours on end. In line with these thoughts I have entertained a challenge of sorts. I have created an account that is sitting at the last stop on tutorial island waiting to start its long journey to 3 combat 99s. My challenge is for someone else to create a BRAND NEW account and race me to 99 in the three mentioned stats (fletching, cooking, firemaking) I will be training controlled for the most part and will only use the gold from this new account to buy new armor and weapons. At a higher combat I may start training slayer but we will see. My challenge is issued to anyone who thinks that they can start a new account and beat me to 3 99s. After all fletching, cooking, and firemaking are the easiest right? Now the deal is I will wait on tuturial island for anyone that wants to compete, and anyone that does not leave the island at the same time as me (to be determined) will NOT be in the running. A screen shot as well as a blog will be made at that time with anyone who wants to race. Anyone who wants to make combat players eat their words is welcomed to join my side as well but again that will be determined when we leave the island. For me, my side is simple. I will level an account and have no interaction with any of my other accounts. I will use the gold from that account alone to level and use items that it has collected/bought. For anyone that says that leveling the mentioned stats are so easy, you job is a bit more difficult. You MUST use only gold gathered by the newly created account to level the mentioned stats but other than that you are free to get your materials however you wish (combat, wc, fishing, etc). Though I cannot moniter this to the fullest, I hope that the honor system plays a part. As for the other rules. When the blog is created a picture of all participants will be made and posted with identification. From then on a daily skill snapshot and bank picture will be made by ALL participants as often as possible. As soon as high score minimums are met, Runemonkey.com or equivalent will be used to moniter experience gained. If making a p2p account for fletching bothers you, a substitute for fletching MIGHT be considered but my account will most certainly be p2p and reap the benefits of membership. 1. NO INTERACTION WITH OTHER CHARACTERS. This is mainly refering to accepting logs, fish, bowstrings, etc as well as gold from other players. The idea that I am trying to push is that it is more difficult for a player to level those skills than a player might level combat. I will earn my gold and you need to earn yours as well. Daily bank pictures will be matched up to skill gains so try to be fair. 2. Make sure to post daily in the blog with updated information. 3. Questing is allowed in any form that you may want to use. Achievement diaries, mini-games, mini quests, or any other form of bonus experience is also allowed. The sky is the limit here. 4. I will be using the best gear and the best training spots in order to beat the other players. I advise you to try and do the same with the skilling. 5. Feel free to play as often or as little as you want (after all your skills are easy to level right?) but keep in mind that I will be no lifing the hell out of proving you guys wrong. You definitely do not want a skiller to show you up do you? So if there is interest, consider your opinions of these 'easy' skills to be changed. Otherwise prove me wrong. If no one wants to take my challenge then that is fine but if you are not up to beating me, please refrain from having such a negative attitude about these three stats.
  4. All I want to know is how a character with your levels and seemingly lack of knowledge about the game (see Help and Advice for other threads) can amass such wealth but I cannot seem to make over 30m.... I know a crap load about this game... I must be doing something wrong.
  5. Winning and losing teams both receive ess based on the amount of orbs that you collect during the game. I never really paid much attention but I think that it may be a ration of 1:1 on orbs to ess, maybe a bit more. Here is a formula exp per round = (current alter exp * 2)ess from round. Personally I would save all I could, using pouches if possible and use them at the highest alter (earth - f2p, nature - p2p). Sorry I really cannot be anymore help here.
  6. I don't think the corporeal beast is cannonable, the cannon just owns the dark core quickly. I guess we should try a cannon at the tortured soul though, never hurts. My mistake, I was under the impression that the cannon was used to kill the beast.
  7. none, you do not receive experience from the game other than the essense bonus that you get at the end of each round. The most I have ever gotten was 24 ess in a round. That ess can be used to make runes during the game for double rc exp. It is a very small amount though. Tokens on the other hand are a maximum of 1k per game last I checked.
  8. Well you do not get exp from the game really, except for the small amounts of essense you get for winning a round. That small number is dependant on how many orbs your team collected so this is a very difiicult question to answer. Sorry. But once you get 60, those tabs will be amazing experience, for what that is worth...
  9. Since the new Spirit beast is cannon-able, is this one as well?
  10. I know that the bulk of the conversation here is about the shileds and the beast but an interesting thing to note for those of you that are still trying to beat the quest is that you can take logs with you instead of trying to cut the roots. This makes that part ridiculously easy.
  11. press the crtl key on the keyboard 5 times to activate Sticky Keys. Click the settings button and then the mouse tab. Check the box use mouse keys and apply the new settings. And there you go. As to it being legal, I have no idea so I think you should confirm it first.
  12. Read the forums, yes, Rants, no. Those are pointless. The kid is obviously pissed because he has been inconveinced. What you seem to be missing is the fact that the OP asked what would be best to do. We all gave him opinions. I would keep the largest chunks as it could be cut into smaller pieces and sold to high level summoners. And as to granite being a money maker? That has nothing to do with this thread at all. The OP said he was going to be power mining so I really do not think he is looking for a profit. As a result I suggest he power mine the crap out of it and only keep the largest chunks. And lastly I would suggest a bit of free thinking instead of being controled by the thoughts, posts, and even rants of others.[stats][/stats]
  13. Try selling granite before saying something you have not proven  With the update came a balancing of ALL of the granite pricing. It is proportional now so as to make the prices fair. As to being able to sell it, think about it, if the price of granite all of a sudden shot up, don't you think that people are going to mine it? Thus flooding the market? Since it is HIGH LEVEL SUMMONERS that need them, I am sure that supply > demand right now. Soon that will be different. And selling the granite has nothing to do with how idiotic your posts have been.
  14. Wow I am not really sure what to make of this thread. Granite is useful to mine as high level summoners will buy granite for very quick summoning exp. Since the update of being able to chisel it. Keeping the largest bits are best as you can make them into the smaller chunks. And to pure, I hope you are kidding.
  15. Judging from your stats, Fairy Tale Part 2 should have already been completed or would be easy for you to complete. When you have it done, getting to your kingdom is as easy as using a Glory to get to Edgeville and the Fairy Ring to the east of Edge and west of the GE. That makes kingdom management very simple.
  16. AHhh... You definitely need to keep it up everyday. Let us use smaller numbers so that it is easier to understand. Everday 10% of your coffers is spent not matter what. Then everyday they take your approval rating and multiply it times your coffer amount. Example: Let us assume that you have 1000 gold in your coffers. Everyday 100 gold will be taken out. If your approval rating is 100% then all 100 gold will be used. If it is 56% then 56 of the 100 gold will be used and the other 44 will have been wasted. This is a cumulative deal so it is like the following. Let us assume that you keep your coffers at 1000 gold. Everyday 100 gold is taken out and you go back to reinvest 100 gold. Let us also assume that these are your approval ratings for a week. 100%-99%-98%-97%-96%-95%-100% That totals to 685 gold to be used for the week instead of the 700. For these small money denominations it does not seem like much but when you lose 750/day it adds up.
  17. Well you have to run by the places to help out the people anyway so why not just give them a hand before you collect? But to your question, no the day you are collecting's apporval rating does not matter as the work has not been accumulated for that day.
  18. Yes that will give you the maximum resources gathered for 10 days. Just make sure to keep a 100% aproval rating.
  19. To add to my opinion I do not think that pking should go unrewarded. I think that a system of monitering kills (maybe like in Diablo where players could collect ears of fallen players) would be great. With these 'points' the pker could exchange them for untrabable rewards that would increase their ability to compete in pking events. With the removal of the potential loss of equipment all the pker then would have to focus on would be fine tuning their skills to amass 'points' to become even better. I really dislike the idea of being unrewarded for your effort and have high hopes for pk only worlds. I really hope Jagex makes it worth combat players time. Otherwise we may end up with another set of red and gold armor that is pointless to wear outside of showing off.
  20. [hide=] Sorry man but thats about the dumbest thing i have ever heard. You are dissapointed at people "mindlessly clicking" to level up their combat stats. What exactly where you doing when mining/smithing/ doing any skill..? And gank people for their hard earned cash? People knew what they were getting into going into the wild. People know what they are getting into when going into BH, and people will know what they are getting into in the new PVP worlds. So if they cant afford to lose that hard earned cash, then dont risk it. Thats the whole fun of pking is risk vs reward. the adreline of knowing you can lose your items, but also know you have a chance of beating someone and getting their items, and also bragging rights. Pking with no risk or reward(which is what you would like) is dull and boring. Completely takes the excitement out of it. [/hide] You are completely correct. I was mindlessly clicking for my levels. Where I find enjoyment though is fine tuning one aspect of my leveling so as to make money, get best exp/hour, and maximize my playing time. With pkers it is the same except that they level combat stats. I have no problem with that. What I have a problem with is the attitude of expecting something for nothing. What seems to be missing on your part is a paradymical view of what other players may be thinking. In your mind you understand the risk/reward of pking which I too appreciate. To someone that purposely manipulates the combat system so as to be able to gank (which I think is an appropiate word) a balanced player they are removing the risk thus only wanting to maximize their potential of reward. This is representative of bullying that one may experience on a play ground. The upside again is that I can avoid the playground altogether. At the same time I realise that pures are not the only type of pkers. I also understand that there are those that play fair and like the risk/reward that you described. This thread however was discussing the relationship between skillers and pkers. I tend to avoid pking and discussions about pking because of the mind set that I have stereotyped pkers to have. My stereotype is representative of many years of playing however and after seeing many pkers responses and actions towards other players. That does not make it true nor a true understanding of pkers because Lord knows I do not. Instead it is my views on a group of people, as I understand them to be, that say they want to be able to fight other players but only want to because they can manipulate the rules to their benefit.
  21. With your setup you will get 624 flax, 440 tuna, and 131 swordfish per day. 750k is enough for 10 days but it is a cumulative upkeep sort of deal. In other words after day one you no longer have 750k but 675k in the coffers. When they go to accumlate work for the second day, you will only get 67.5k worth of work instead of the 75k. So you need at least 750k/day every day for you to maximize your profit.
  22. While a skiller at heart, I would not say that there is a dislike for pkers, instead a dislike the attitude that many pkers have. I have worked hard for my levels, and earned every bit of cash I have ever had. When I see those that mindlessly click on monsters to increase their combat stats, I am disappointed. Anyone can do that and yet many pkers feel as though they deserve what they earn from a kill. Honestly I fail to see the allure that killing a balanced character with a pure has in that to me there is no challenge. When I recently went from 80 cooking to 99 with a 2m profit, it was engaging and held a challenge. Then there are those that have spent hours leveling just 2 or 3 combat stats who gank people for ther hard earned cash? The upside is I never 'had' to go into the Wilderness. As a result pkers have had little effect on me. I do not sell pots that i make, I do not buy ores for smithing, I do not buy seconds for herblore or summoning so in a sense I am an independant player that has little effect on the community in game as far as material usage/provision(outside the game i try to be as helpful as I can though). With the inclusion of BH and Clan Wars we see a bit of pking as it should be. Pking should be for the pleasure of being able to outplay another player much like Guild Wars or World of Warcraft, not motivated by drops. Unfortunately Runescape is not really built for personalized combat (kind of the reason runescape and skilling are more of my attempt at relaxing) but the recent additions are giving to pking what I have wanted all along, the opportunity to kill another player for the joy of being able to do so, no strings attached.
  23. [hide=] Wow someone has a skewwed view on things. You must be a semi new runescape player too. The people that are complaining about not getting drops arent complaining about just that. The whole point is why lose something for nothing? If you have a chance to lose something, you should have a chance to gain something also. [/hide] hmm not at all. That is a response representative of everything you posted. I am older than most players and have a pretty good understanding of how Runescape works. I also understand that they are pointing out the obvious pointlessness of the loss items on death feature. My point is that Jagex are trying to appease a group of people that will not be satisfied until they can once again kill another player ofr loot. This is completely outside the realm of RWT as well. I am refering to the people that stood above Edgeville with uneven combat stats waiting for a balanced player to run out to the slaughter thus a free lunch.
  24. What I think alot of mature scapers fail to realise is that most of the "oMG THiS uPDaTe SuXoR!!!!" comes from the same group of people that used Pking as a quick and easy way of makingmoney. That is why the rants all include the fact that there are no drops from killing people. They do not care about pking in the sense that they care about being able to fight other players, they care about manipulating a system to get something for nothing. I am a skiller and could really care less about PvP (or combat at all for that matter) but Jagex cannot aim to please a group that misrepresents what they really want, a free lunch. As to the items lost on death... yeah no idea what that is about unless it was Jagex's attempt at fulfilling those ranters misrepresented desires of seeing a lootpile again.
  25. I used pen and paper.... I am such a noob.
