  1. Well if you do not care about nests or herbs then flax is the best money maker. Do NOT use hardwood, and herbs are pretty expensive, though you will still make a profit. The extra 5 really are up to you depending on whether you want a profit or want the secondary items (I do maple and lose a little bit of cash but I want the nests so I am willing to make that sacrifice, you may not be.)
  2. Oh and two other things. 1. Royal Trouble and Throne of Misc: I do not care what it takes, complete these quests. The Manage Thy Kingdom that opens up after completing them is an insanely good way to make very good money. In a weeks time I easily make a good bit of money by just gonig there once a day to keep my approval up. It takes about 5 minutes to do this and pays off immensely. 2. If you just need a little bit of cash to get you started a good idea is to collect summoning or herblore seconds. Whether it be slaugtering Unicorns or walking around collecting snape grass, there is always money in seconds.
  3. A word of advice would be to use your Kingdom (if you have finished Royal Trouble and Throne of Misc.) to get fish. Tuna is 100 cooking exp per fish and Swordfish are 140. If you were to cook 100 tuna/100 swordfish as opposed 200 lobsters, the only difference would be that you would MAKE MONEY using your kingdom. And since you are level 87 burning either is not possible so this is something you probably should look at in the times when you run out of lobsters. Using this method I have made nearly 2m cooking my way to 99. As I am only level 89 I am sure that I will continue to profit in the same way.
  4. As you are new to members I would like to offer some advice before you jump head long into trying to amass wealth. In the members part of Runescape there is much more to experience and I suggest that you do just that. For the next couple of weeks just go exploring, maybe complete some quests and make way for completing the Hero's quest. This is a pretty important quest in the grand scheme of things. Get to know the members side of things and once you find your grove, then I think it would be a good idea to find a moneymaker that you enjoy. For instance, I really enjoy shade burning and though it is not the moneymaker it once was, I still really enjoy the minigame itself. The cash (and mad prayer exp) are just a bonus of doing something I enjoy. The reason I say this is because Runecrafting, albiet an amazing moneymaker, is repeatitive and often times very boring causing you to get burned out quickly. With that being said, either hunting red chincompas or nature crafting are really good moneymakers. Hunting is a fairly quick skill to level and you will be able to hunt reds in no time. Runecrafting is slow and expensive to start. It does pay off though but probably much later than hunting would. Both are very involved and take concentration so it is up to you as to which you would perfer. Reds will also have competition while runecrafting is good to go whenever you would like to go at it. Since your combat is low though SoS is a good place for you to go to gain some much needed combat stats. I guess bottom line is ignore the money and play the game. Before you know it, you will have the money that you want. Oh and for what it is worth Slayer is by far your best option at this point. It will introduce you to new places and monsters, raise your combat stats and offer an amazing way to make money. This adds variety, gives you quick levels, and is much more fun than any other money making scheme. Something to think about there friend.
  5. Questions like these are very difficult for us to answer. The best advice that I can give is to review the quest log in the quest menu and see if you have completed everything up to that point. As this is an old quest it has been years since I completed and sadly I cannot remember exactly how to get the beads. So just make sure that you have done everything the log suggests and talk to all of the NPCs involved. Sometimes there is a small detail that you may have missed. Checking the quest guide I see that you need to 'use' the locating crystal, the sword hilt, and the blue scroll on Trufitus in order for him to explain how to make the beads. I am not sure whether removing the beads from the sword causes you not to be able to 'use' them on Trufitus. Anyway I hope that helps.
  6. No doubt that you are correct but I guess when I think of ftp I think of many areas that are too far away from banks to warrent the usefulness of a few extra attack bonuses where as defensive bonuses would be welcomed. Then again with his stats I guess it really would not matter either way.
  7. In the top right hand corner there some graphics and one of them that looks like a mouth. That is the one that you need to call to the others. To do so right click your horn and select the choice that is displayed above. That is pretty much all there is to it.
  8. boots should be the ones from the Stronghold of Security. Other than that slaytanicc was dead on. Though I would opt to go with a power ammy over a strength but that is just me.
  9. Yes and no. It is just as good as the one from FOG but in order to use one that has been bought off of the GE you have to earn points to recharge it. Much fewer points to be sure but points none the less.
  10. While it is still possible, I would not expect it too much. With the wording on the ROF being that it is "this week's update" I really do not see us getting the Firemaking minigame this week. Here is to hoping though.
  11. Has anyone had a chance to check out the way the rewards work now?
  12. I kind of see this as a double edged sword. On the one hand you now have clues that are more or less useless but on the other you have clue rewards that are now more rare to obtain. To me this is a balance in rewards because in my opinion they were designed to be rare to begin with. Now that most of us that did clues religiously are not doing them because it is a waste of our time, the clue rewards are rarer than ever and also on the rise.
  13. I am going to let you in on a little secret involving quest bosses, RING OF RECOIL. The Giant Scarab has 130 hit points and each Ring of recoil returns 10% of damage dealt, (not sure if this is just for melee of if it crosses the other parts of the triangle as well) and is used up after 40 damage has been returned. With 130 hp that is a meazly 4 rings with a few to spare on the other Locusts that spawn. The idea here is to stay alive long enough for the beast to kill itself. Works very nicely for most quest monsters in my opinion.
  14. Thank you very much sir. For the life of me I could not find that :D
  15. Is there a table of xp per hour for various skills using the most commonly used items? If not how many fish is it possible to cook per hour. Also bracelets per hour would be nice as well.
  16. The explorer ring is in fact ftp and I must say that it was a very good idea to take that in the game. I would have never have thought of that. I do wear weight reducing gear and take my pouches to keep as many ess as possible for nature crafting :D
  17. Male and female robes as well as me spotting Hermon1242 :D [hide=][/hide]
  18. If only I could find a competent team.... anyone up to play after system update?
  19. That is true, sorry to foget such an important bit of information.
  20. On Jatizso just southeast of the underground mine. Set up your cannon and pray melee. You will use several prayer pots so you may want to use monk's robes. The only thing there that will be able to hit you will be the female troll. Just make sure to kill her when she spawns and you should be good to go. The drops are rune warhammers, rune kites, and granite shields. There are other drops like noted sharks, noted seaweed, charms, gold, natures, seeds, and herbs. Not too bad at all and usually pays for the trips and prayer pots. If not it about breaks even every time.
  21. Well first I would like to say that the game is much more fun when you try things yourself. Famring like any skill is very simple and something that, especially at level 5, you should be able to figure out. That being said here are some very easy ways to level farming. First, open up the skill interface and click the farming icon. Look through the list of farming items and find one that you can grow. Make sure you have some seeds of that kind. Go to Catherby however you would like and buy the 40 pineapples from Ahrein (spelling?) on the docks. Do this everyday and fill up as many compost bins with them as possible. NO MATTER WHAT YOU GROW USE SUPER COMPOST. Even if you are paying for the patch to be watched. That little bit of extra exp adds up and since the pineapples are availible in sets of 40/day you should never run out. After you get some supercompost, head on up to the farming patch in Catherby. In the farming store, buy a rake, a spade, awatering can, and a seed dibber. Rake out a patch, use the super compost, plant the seeds that you can, water, and leave to do whatever your heart desires. Taa daa you are a master farmer. Man that wasn't hard at all. The idea here is to learn the basics and fine tune it is you go for your own enjoyment. This game is not about max exp/hour or how efficent you are. Play the game and enjoy it, it isn't a job.
  22. Respect is a funny thing. To one person it means one thing and to another, a completely different thing. I personally do not look at skill capes as all that impressive. Anyone can do repeated actions for months at a time to achieve a skill cape. Hell I did it fletching in about 8 days, no lifing. That isn't impressive at all (except maybe the patience that I had to have had). I have heard that cooking is even easier, and thieving is a joke in regards to how quickly 99 can be achieved. Likewise I am not really a combat person, so things like slayer or maxed combat is not impressive to me, though range and magic 99s will always be more impressive than any melee stat as far as I am concerned). Instead I respect Quest cape owners in that I have no idead whether they use guides or not. Since I am not sure I default to thinking that they do not and for someone that has done every quest without using guides, I find that very impressive. Mini games are another thing that holds my respect. Gold armor at Castle Wars, full penance, or even the combat robes from FoG are things that I can look at and say, "Wow". These are things that are not garanteed. You have a chance of being on losing CW teams every game, a chance to be on a team that has a hard time doing BA, or even being put up against someone who is much better at FoG than you. These take a level of skill that most of Runescape does not require. Like I said, anyone, and I mean ANYONE, can continually complete slayer task, or burn a log, or even amass so much gold that a house turns into a mansion (though gathering gold + constrution holds my respect as well) but when it comes down to my respect, you need a little more than time invested. One of the main reasons I will never switch to WOW, there is nothing impressive about be able to play more than me.
  23. I believe that it is ants as well. It is a random drop though so there is no garantee. A good idea, since other combat gear isn't necessarily 'needed' is to wear a ROW. I know it has a tainted reputation but any bit of help is welcomed right ;)
  24. I have found that being a helpful player to those that you come into contact with is a very good way to make friends. Whether it is a level 35 that is killing hobogoblins while I am collecting snapes/alching or someone that I meet while slaying fire giants, any willingness to help others will take you far. Now I do not have an insanely high combat, but as Alpha, Moto, Sly, or heck even ego scorpion will attest to, I will often times drop whatever I may be doing in order to help out. On one occassion, i even stopped questing, something I really enjoy, to take a glory to Sly when he ran out of prayer while chinning. As a result I have developed some pretty strong friendships with quite a few people. Of course with those mentioned, it probably helps that I am in ventrilo with them. For others though it is the same scenario. Often times peole with higher combat will ignore the lower combat, heck that even happens quite a bit here on tif, but if at any time I am asked a question that I have insight into, I will give advice, help in anyway, or even show what I think to be the best method of doing something. What friendships boil down to is a willingness to devote your time to others. A good friend will return that sentiment and do the same for you. In Runescape the mentality, however, is "what can you do for me?" instead of "what can I do for you". But if you do not mind wasting a good bit of time doing, often times ridiculous things, drop me a PM and I'd be glad to be a friend.
  25. I'd say this is right. Well if that is so, it is very misleading if not a lie altogether.
