  1. Well first and foremost, I would like to point out that this is a videogame and it should not be played for the approval of other gamers. I learned that the hard way but since then I have enjoyed the game much more. As is said all the time, if you do not enjoy something, do not do it. Quests definitely fall into that category. For me quests are a major part of the game that allows me a glimpse into things deeper than just repeative gameplay. I enjoy them and try to complete them as soon as they come out, often times without a guide. This new quest was no different, completing it the day after its' release. Even without the usage of a guide this quest was very simple in that it was straight forward and lead you to each new objective. The boss fight was even rather simple though I had to teleport the first time as I did not have 2 forms of weaponry :/ The quest did offer much in the area of adventure and history so I enjoyed it greatly but I fail to see the difficulty that people are attributing to the quest. For me, Barrelchest at 82 combat was much more difficult than this quest. As a whole, I have not found any quest difficult but there is much more to questing than completing a series of steps to appease certain NPCs. There are many aspects of gameplay that show questing to be deserving of this 'respect' that some would like to be gleaned from their Quest Cape. I have mine and am proud to have it but no longer look for the respct of my fellow gamers. First there is the skill training asosciated with questing. As many posters here are higher leve, getting 100k/h in any skill is pretty simple. There are methods for pretty much any skill to level quickly. At lower levels however, a player is often met with a much more difficult time trying to attain those levels. Not to mention learning the game and the best ways to do things. Many times people seem to look over this aspect lacking the ability to look at things subjectively. We, the people that have been around forever, know many tricks to attain quicker levels, but there was a time when I thought that mining a load of iron at the Varrock southeast mine and walking (as there was no running) to Al Kharid to smelt each load was the best method to get smithing levels. My point is that even though the total experience needed to complete all the quests is low, there is much more that goes into that than just grinding those levels. Sure many of us could remake characters and be able to complete all the quests in... probably less than a month. As a new player we could not have. Questing shows a greater knowledge of all parts of the game. Many players focus on combat and others are pure skillers. Questing requires knowledge of both aspects as well as a working knowledge of getting around the lands of Runescape. Many quests require a fusion of combat know how (Recipe for Disaster, While Guthix Sleeps, The Great Brain Robbery, Grim Tales, Dream Mentor, etc), skills (level requirements and quests like the elemental workshops, Giant Drawf, etc), and getting around (one small favor anyone?). These all show that a player is well rounded in gameplay and shows the persistance to put up with constant chores of people whose gratitude you will never truly receive. And lastly a quest cape is a milestone for any player. When a player starts playing many times they will develop a desire to complete something. Mine was completing the quests (for free experience at the time) as well as a high smithing level as at the time, a high smithing level actually made a very good profit. Others have goals of maxed melee, 99 slayer, complete sets of minigame rewards or even more dramatic goals of untrimed slayer, untrimed hp, untrimed summoning, etc. These are all goals that mean something to that player and in my opinion deserve the respect more out of respect for the player than respect for the actual goal. This, sadly, is something that many tifers seem to miss.
  2. An alternative for prayer training is to burn Vyrewatch. From my experiences it is relatively fast and nets a decent profit. It is a pretty decent all around melee trainer actually. I know that was not your question but figured I'd offer it anyway.
  3. Well hello there ;) Well I could say that you have too much time on your hands as you play a java game that accomplishes very little in the scheme of things. I however enjoy the rich history that Jagex tries to add to the game. If time and effort would allow, I would probably go back and do this for every quest. Unfortunately I doubt that I would remake a character to do so. Besides it was Thanksgiving. Not like I had anything better to do :D
  4. Where are you getting the impression that the workers will be able to collect essense? All I am reading is increased material gathering... not new material gathering.
  5. 2 achievement diaries or one with 2 places? Oh who cares, enhanced resource collection for your Etceterian workers ftw :D
  6. Pro account so no limit to bandwidth usage.

  11. I painstakingly took pictures of the whole quest thinking that some would want to analyze the history this quests helps to paint a picture of. Hopefully someone will enjoy this as it took forever to do :P [hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide][hide=] [/hide] Feel free to use any and all in a quest guide. Just maybe mention me :D
  12. First please stop posting this, if they knew they would tell you. Second, do the quest as it is obvious they come from the quest. Thirdly have a great Thanksgiving.
  13. WOOT! Can't wait. Though I need to kill Bork...
  14. My point is more of offer something that makes someone want to shoot for it as a goal then have a reason to contiue playing. Judging from your highscores you are a combat player. Once you max your melee why would you continue playing Runescape? There are incentives to have a higher level combat. Respect not withstanding, you have more things open to you, better methods of making money, etc. As a player you have a reason to play because once you get those goals you will have an easier time of doing things thus increasing your enjoyment of the game. Jagex has you in their trap because the content that you enjoy for whatever reason because honestly Runescape combat is terrible, has a benefit sticking in there and leveling. Now let us say that you tried WoW and found that the engagement of their combat system leaves you desiring to taste the 1600 bracket on PvP (combat actually worth playing imo). Why would you then go back to Runescape? With maxed combat, all you would be able to do in Runescape is kill some more GWD bosses or perhaps the Corperal (sp?) Beast. While in WoW, you have a bracket of players who adapt to you every game and engage you in ways Runescape could only wish to do. Which would you stick with? A game that rewards the time you spend playing it (and revenue that the business gets), or one that caters to players that may or may not stick with the game. In other words, they are hoping to net a few more players while not caring if the people stick around. Would you take my word of Runescape being an awesome game being combat 110+ or that of a combat 50? I have played it, have experience in every aspect, and know what I talking about. If I tell my potential friends this game sucks I am sure that it will hold more water than my 12 year old nephew who is half my level. Now I love Runescape. I have played it since nearly day one, I was an active member of the RS forum thread that was the basis of Castle Wars when the RSOF first cam about. I have been a part of several clans and am known as a very helpful person among my friends. I care about this game and the people that play it. I hate to see it catering to those that probably will not stick around anyway. WoW is my combat fix and Runescape is everything else. I would hate to have to play WoW all of the time because of the enjoyment that I get from Runescape. Only problem is that now that my skills are leveling out I am failing to see a purpose in continuing to play. I am a loyal customer and yet it seems like I am continuing to get crapped on. What incentive do I have to continue playing? or more so tell more of my friends to play which is up to about 15 people that I know in real life that play because of me.
  15. Full Lumberjack Ring of Fire Fire Gloves Infernal Adze Strung Rabbits foot The perfect woodcutting outfit, giving bonus experience in both woodcutting and firemaking, allowing for more logs to be vut per inventory, thus even more experience per hour as less time banking or dropping :D
  16. While I can agree that the age of the general community does play a factor in this, that is another subject altogether. I mean why are they catering to younger players anyway? I digress. If we look at this from a business standpoint, as you seem bent on, we will need to look at the nature of MMORPGs. The longer a player plays, the more money you make off of that player. So for the instance of these low-mid level updates that allow for faster experience gains, you are shrinking the amount of time that it takes to achieve goals that a player might set for themselves, enticing them to play but not continuing to play. So this player achieves its higher level goal, gets bored and quits. Let us say that it took a year to accomplish that goal. So you have a years worth of revenue from that one player. Instead, if we continue to keep the experience levels the same, but instead of allowing you to level faster, give you an incentive to level. So the same player started playing and sees the benefit of having a high crafting level for instance. He still has his goal, it takes him longer to achieve it AND he has a reason to continue playing once he achieves it. Even if it still took that player a year to achieve that goal like the last (even with slower experience rates though that seems unlikely) the business would benefit past that point because the player would have a reason to continue playing because that achievement was meant to gain access to that high level content.
  17. They care more about the low levels than the high levels and rightfully so. A LOT more low levels come in than high levels quit. Therefore, from a business standpoint, they should make more updates for low level to entice them. It would be the right thing, but not the smart thing. Let us look at WoW for a moment. This game is mostly higher level content. Granted it does not take as long to get to the higher level content, mostly everything is done once you max your character. WoW is the most successful MMORPG in the history of gaming. Sure you pay more for the game but doesn't that prove that higher level content is worth making so as to keep your players playing. Becuase I do not know if you realise this or not but the most important thing to a MMORPG is keeping their clients playing so that the same revenue comes in every month. Regardless of how many players you have coming in (especially in a game that offers a free part of the game), keeping thos that you have seems way more important than getting new players. Games like WoW, Everquest, and soon to be Warhammer prove that the model works. The only thing that Runescape has over those games is the wide variety of things that EVERY player can do.... and they are dimishing that by continually releasing items that make it easier... gf business model. And where the hell is my quest?
  18. Except of course if that business wants to keep the players once they become 'high'er leveled.
  19. Supposed to be like that? Probably not. Unfortunately it is like that. Even when I was mining clay last night, it was ridiculously slow... CLAY at 70-ish mining... taking 6-7 seconds each... should not happen. The axe is the same way, taking the proporties of bronze axe.
  20. I'd stick with leeches as well. Much cheaper and the experience is already quick.
  21. I used the morphic tool and got 279 crafting exp for black d-hide bodies. Not that great of an improvement but any extra exp is welcomed by me :D
  22. Well in truth I would say that the most useful non-combat skill is magic. And I realise that you did not include magic in one of the choices but Magic is not all combat. When I first thought about my answer, teleporting came to mind. Can you remember when laws were 1k each and the only teleport jewelry was the Glory? I can and I remember how tedious it was to walk everywhere. With higher magic and new spellbooks we can teleport all over the place (whether by teleporting or by enchanting) making this game much smaller in terms of time spent getting for point A to point B. Next we have high alchemy and low alchemy. This has made skills such as fletching so much more beneficial. Instead of producing endless amounts of bows with no purpose, players can often make a profit by alching their bows. Skilling + money = win. Lunar spellbook is another point of magic that offers many non-combat helps. Superglass make is one of if not my favorite spells. When buying seaweed from Ahrein in Catherby and getting sand from Bert, I used to just let it sit in my bank. Now I have a purpose for them and have a pretty nice crafting level to show for it ;D Plant cure, amulet string, plank make, etc The uses of magic, outside of combat make it one of the most versitile and useful skills.
  23. I agree, the minigame is very fun and worth playing a few times. Where it is lost though is the fact that there is no real reward to the game. I am a skiller and the tools really offer me nothing with their boost experience. A farming thing would have been nice though... as well as the obvious exp reward that is not there.
