  1. It is more of a challenge and people enjoy challenges
  2. My advice is Superglass make>orbs. I think it is about 2 gp per exp. I can cast the spell around 700 times/hour which is 9100+ glass (bonus of 0-9 for casting the spell. After casting the spell I can craft arounf 1700 orbs/hour. You do lose gold but not that much. Also I did my calculations several weeks ago so the prices may be off.
  3. I am a skiller but not in the general sense of being a level 3, though I do have one of those too. I enjoy the skills of Runescape and those are the things that captivate me most. When I first stated playing Runescape smithing was a skill that made money and I spent months collecting ores to get my smithing up. I mined and smith like crazy thinking for sure I could make good money that way. Unfortunately Runescape is unique in that all of the gear that can be produced can also be received as a monster drop and the highest level gear is only from drops. In the beginning it was for the money as it was harder to get in classic. Looking back I should have trained purely combat as it seems to be much more useful years later. After all it is easier, faster, and requires less thought to get combat 99s and buy all your stats with money gotten from drops that only high level players can get. And combat in Runescape... yeah it sucks. As for level 3 skillers, it shows devotion to an idea though you will often have level 3 skillers that only train fishing or woodcutting as they are easily afk-able. This limits their knowledge and brings about the people you spoke of. Then again get members and all of your troubles are gone :P
  4. Bank 40-50ish million Cash pile 7-9m fluctuates daily. Rich? Naw poor is more like it.
  5. limpwurts are good as well as you plant the seed harvest 3 at a time and can sell 2 to make up the price of the seed, leaving a bonus of 1 limpwurt everytime. Not too shabby.
  6. Well I have been pounding out some crafting experience lately and prior to that mainly farming. I usually wear my Varrock Armor and Lumbridge Ring. I can quite easily add in the hat and though I will look rather goofy, a quick stop on my walk from Camelot to Catherby should not put me too behind on my schedule. Changing a hat takes little time and I teleport to Camelot quite a bit through the day. It really is not that big of a hassle and a free 10k/day is never a bad thing.
  7. That's rubbish logic as you can only do it once a day. Just as much rubbish logic as one stating that I am loosing 500k+/ hour by training a skill because I am not spending that time making money. This is a game and opportunity costs are rubbish. It's not rubbish logic, it shows that gathering that flax is worth your time. It is the same idea as a herb run. (It is actually a very good idea to add it to a herb run) No I agreed with the original poster. He had good logic. I was just saying that Merciful's statement was just as ridiculous as people saying that opportunity costs should be equated in skilling costs. If they can do that, then he most certainly can say that doing the flax will net you 1.3m/hour granted it is over a long period of time.

  9. If we think of the sword as just food... it is not that bad. In combat situations it seems that there are better alternatives BUT if one were to use it at Pyramid Plunder or an agility course it may be a little more useful. Since this takes the special bar it could be used in tandium with a whip but again you would be substituting it for the special of your dragon dagger or claws. Granted most players with the levels to complete the hard diary would have access to better alternatives, it still can be pretty useful
  10. fish/flax or coal but always fish... uncooked of course.
  11. [hide=] Freminik is still the wrost in my opinion. I am one to complete things like this and yet I see absolutely no reason to complete the Fremmy Diary. It is to me, completely useless. wdf.. you know fremmy has free teleport to fremenick once a day... I can go to misc a day and increase my reputation. Yeah like I said, useless. Fairy Rings are far surperior to any of the Fremmy teleports. At least the Seers gives you faster spinning and better experience woodcutting. Varrock>Karjama>Lumbridge>Seers>Falador>trouble brewing>gnome copters>Freminik. Yeah it is that bad :P Karamaja is best. Tele to Shilo ftw. [/hide] The furnance and the staves are more beneficial to me. Without the gloves I could still get to Shilo fairly easily though not nearly as quickly. Without the chest though I would not be able to smelt faster nor purchase a nice chunck of crafting experience for profit. And the only reason I got level 99 cooking was because of the bank in the cooking guild. Else I would not have bothered.

  13. Well with the amount of 99s you have I am surprised any of them are useful for you ;p

  15. Its 10 xp too bad you can't use it with lumberjack hat :( Seer's headband > full lumberjack when cutting maples. For maples when using full lumberjack it results in 102.5 xp per log where as the headband results in 110 xp per log. If you then account for the other parts of lumberjack you get a bonus of 1.76 bonus experience. Not too shabby... I might start cutting maples instead of teaks :P
  16. Mine has nothing to do with this skill other than the same name. The ideas that I have do not parrallel these at all. Just sucks that this one got notoriety before mine. Makes it more difficult for mine to be accepted as new and fresh hence my "that sucks" statement. Ah well I still think mine is a heck of alot better than this one :D We will see I guess.
  17. You should post it anyway, no one cares if you "copied" an idea or whatever. The more suggestions, the better the skill could become since you feed more ideas to Jagex. Oh I plan on posting the link once I complete it but it is so far from being complete that posting it now would not give it justice.
  18. Well that sucks. I have been working on an exploration skill for about 2 months now. I have designed everything from xp gains, how it is to be gained, rewards, skill cross overs, what the cape will look like, and have only really been trying to tweak a few things. Though mine is not anything like this skill in it's implementation I really feel like mine will be compared to it, which is something I do not want. Guess I need to get to thinking eh? And Silver, I know you will read this and I blame you... Either you or moto.
  19. Of which you are obviously one... My remark was in context; the chests were used by mostly low level thieves - the majority of higher level thieves used pickpocketing as their way to get experience. I have spoken ill of no one though I may have implied something about you. Now, contextually we were dicussing how someone with 200m thieving experience could have made the amount of money that was mentioned (somewhere around 800m or 10gp/xp or something - not really important). Granted the Paladins gave 2 choas, there were 2 nature rune chests in close proximity that could easily be looted every 12 seconds on a full world and world switching was instantaneous unlike that of today where you have to wait. Natures were worth around 1k a piece in Classic were as the choas were only around 400. As a result money-wise the nature chest was better. Coupled with the fact that if you failed you did not have to fight the chest, ALOT of thieves perfered chests.
  20. What I remember most about Runescape Classic was being so naive that I opted to smith/craft my supplies and sell to general stores rather than people. By the time I realized how much other players would pay for my full mith I had already sold countless sets to the NPC in Varrock. I had a friend that lived with me during college and that was all we did. Mine gold/coal/iron then smith/smelt. We made so many gold necklaces, steel plates, and anything with gems we mined, that I to this day HATE mining and smithing. Crafting has become more useful and I have always like the skill. But the others... yeah never again.
  21. No-one? Can you explain why the Ardougne Paladin room was almost always full with pick-pocketters? Or why heroes were followed by thieves, or gnome children for that matter? It was a blanket statement. Saying that there were far more players that thieved chests than pickpocketed. Of course there were people that did pickpocket but that was not my point. Contextually that is implied. OT: A good conversationalist has the capability to understand what is meant by the statements being made. I tend to forget that these boards are populated by people whom feel that their opinions are far greater than others and feel the need to berate their fellow players.
  22. Since Mobilizing Armies was supposed to be released in November, then December, then January... is this it?
  23. Probably but more people camped Natures so it is kind of like when people camp dragons instead of avansies (for whatever reason). Sure the avansies are more difficult and give better money but more people will always seem to camp dragons more so than avansies... At the time there were few thieves that high as well. Man thieving sucked in Classic. Remember having to fight the NPC if you failed to pickpocket them? Aw man almost as bad as ranging :P
