  1. Oh boy, more global warming debate.... I think it's industry that needs to cut back on energy consumption. Normal people should do what they can but not be so coerced unless they use an extraordinary amount. Basically: If humans are affecting the environment, we should try to do our part to cut energy usage (and hey, that'll lower your utility bill). If they arent, hey, see above, always good to have more money laying around! Whatever happens will happen really. If the catastrophic catastrophes happen, it'll be the world's way of equalling things out.
  2. I had the same worries at about age 12 ish. I really don't know if anything I can say would be helpful, but I think if you believe you'll go to heaven and just feel that that makes the most sense, it's probably true. My perspective is, everybody dies eventually, just seems a bit odd for everyone to become nothing. I think there's something out there. I know it probably wont help you by me saying this, but try not to worry about it. It's better to just live and not live being afraid to die because then you can't really live life to the fullest.
  3. Okay, so I'm usually an optimistic person, with a great outlook on life. Then all of a sudden last weekend, I started just feeling so helpless. I mean, the worlds going to pot, I wake up at 5:30 during the weekdays, go to work, and get home to my wife about 4:45. Geez! Thats nearly 12 hours of the day! My job, thats another story. I work for Apple, and have done in the past, but for some reason, somebody whos never worked at apple, whos younger than me, got the position that pays ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã2 ($4) more an hour and we're doing the exact same things in the job! Makes me feel quite humiliated actually. I dunno, I just don't want life to be like this. I mean, I'm not afraid to die, but I feel there's some purpose for me to be here. Still, I've wondered recently if it's really all worth it. I think it might be something physical as it came out of the blue, but I could be wrong, maybe I'm just down. Has anybody dealt with depression before? Anybody know what it's like? I just want to know about other people's experiences.
  4. Okay, I dunno if you all have seen this but I thought it might be something people on here would like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hilHZa8kp4
  5. Hey all, anybody seen the footage of Starcraft 2? Looks wicked! Anybody gonna buy that whenever they decide to release it? I know I will!
  6. 3 words: WORST.........SEQUEL.........EVER!!!!!!!!!!! (so glad i found it for free and didn't waste my money on it)
  7. Pompey, say hello to my little friend: http://news.independent.co.uk/media/article2521677.ece I watched the global warming swindle. It's a bunch of people talking out of their backsides, most of which arent even scientists. If you look at the link, it says that the main factor in the show (sun spots) was fabricated. (Sorry to open this up again, it probably will be closed now, but I wanted to bring this to the table). I'm not saying I know the cause of global warming, but I want to say that the information you provided is inaccurate, and misleading.
  8. I think it's come too late for me. I have WoW on the way.... But yes, it's quite different now on RS, nice to cut yews and stuff now. Good job jagex, nice one bringing all the updates months, if not years late.
  9. You people who haven't heard of gypsies obviously haven't seen snatch. Brad Pitt doing a pikey voice = hilarious.
  10. You could find a movie or band you like and slightly alter the name so it sounds cool. My WoW main is named Shinso, after my favourite band, the shins. Kinda sounded cool adding on the o, so you can take something that you feel describes you and twist it around if you want.
  11. Ture about PKing, but I think that depends on the player. I mean, I wanna have cool items, and not have to risk them every time I go into battle. I've never gotten much joy out of PKing. I don't really have the heart for it. And I also think the breakdown of loot in RS is kinda unfair.
  12. Yeah, that was the start of when it became aimed at younger players. I still hold that RS is easily learnable by yourself.
  13. I know what yu mean thunderhawk. That frustrated me when playing WoW. But it is still addictive.... Basically, quests probably average anywhere from 10-30 minutes I'd say. If you're the right lvl, then it'll probably be easy enough, but some of them are quite hard and you need to team up with people. That's one thing I found out while playing. Well, I found out WoW is ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã10 at Game, and I have a ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã5 voucher, guess a month of WoW wont be so expensive after all! Argh, but I can't decide which I'd rather play still. I think if WoW is that cheap at the moment, I'll keep playing that for a bit longer, but otherwise, I may just play RS. We'll see.
  14. I don't believe fate exists, mostly because who or what would decide what will happen in the future? I believe that some things are almost part of destiny, but not fate. To further explain this, if you work towards something and try your hardest, you may get it, but you may not. If you halfway work to something and get it, it's luck, but if you don't people fell like it wasn't fate that they got it. So if you 'know' something s going to happen, why bother trying since you'll get there, fate says so, right? I dunno, I just feel like one has a certain amount of control over one's destiny, but they can't affect everything.
  15. Thanks for that! I can't believe it, somebody put $2 on google answers to find out! Quite a few sites dedicated to it, and the discussion of it. Next brainteaser: If a tree falls in the forest? yadda yadda yadda?
  16. Yeah, accidents can be terrible, and almost accidents can shake you up quite a lot. Just remember, almost a car crash, is not equal to a car crash. Thats the best way of looking at it in my opinion.
  17. I really like your point M A L T A. Combat is WoW is much more interesting than RS due to the fact the most interactive battle can be in RS is 'special attack'. My night elf priest can do any combination of spells to help him in battle. That is certainly a WoW plus I hadn't thought of. By the way, just to clear up a slight bit of confusion at the start of the thread: From: http://www.blizzard.co.uk/press/050202.shtml It really is a toss up for me, I really can't decide which game appeals to me more. I think it's gonna come down to which is the most likely to be worth the time I will play it, considering I'm going to be working with Apple Computer full time starting next week. Also, good points about scamming-luring in RS-WoW. I saw 1 person talking on the general chat saying he got scammed in the two weeks I played it, whereas there's mass scamming in RS. Mind you, that may have not been so isolated. Oh, btw, one of my characters is in a WoW dance video, just for the sake of saying it randomly. The dance emote in WoW rules. (I agree baron, online chess and doom 3 should be the next game comparison!) Select a use probably said it best that it's a matter of taste.
  18. I'm glad, for once there were no macros at the lummy yews, it's a miracle!
  19. Can you post another thread with another one of these? I'm liking the brainteasing. :
  20. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about the graphics. It is very limiting with it being a java game, I think it would just be nicer to have a few small things like more detailed faces or more clothes options in RS, just for a bit more individuality! : And yes, I'm sure theres probably quite a few youngsters on WoW, it just doesn't seem quite as obvious on there. Least it didn't on my 2 weeks there. (Glad you think I made good points, I was a bit worried!)
  21. Wow, that is quite a brianteaser. Let me ask my Dad who's a pilot, he'll know. My guess is that regardless of whether it's literally going anywhere, the propulsion caused by the engines would be enought to push it forward, and eventually lift it off of the treadmill. Just my guess though!
  22. I really liked British Rock when I made my name. Then most people thought it meant 'rock' as in mining. Then I moved to Britain, so now it's meaning is actually probably British (mining) Rock Dude. (especially as British rock is rubbish recently imo)
  23. Okay, so I'm back after 2 weeks of playing WoW. I wanted to share some of the things that I thought about while making this journey through both MMORPGs. I'm going to list the main Pro's and Con's. Then maybe compare and contrast. WoW Pro's Better graphics. (obviously) More weapon, armour, and clothes options. Better viewing options. More quests. Team and group/party options. Ability to filter/unfilter cursing. Ability to play with several characters of different races. When you die, you don't lose your items. WoW Con's: Massive updates (took me hours on a high speed connection to get them all) Hard to understand at first. (RS comparatively was easy, even without guides) Higher Price than RS to play + ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã15 or more to buy the actual game. Can only be played on computers with it installed. 2 Skills can only be trained at once. RS Pro's: A massive economy, with trading highly encouraged. Javascript, meaning that nearly anybody can play it from nearly any computer. Can be played for free, if short on money. Many skills to train. Easy to understand. RS Con's: Graphics, music, and sound all leave something to be desired. (cmon Jagex, even having more distiguishable faces would be nice). Not many reasons other than skillcapes to get all the way to 99. As well as not many high lvl quests. Macroing (hopefully something more serious will be done about it now). Jagex making the game aimed at younger and younger people. Okay, now some things that are similar. Both WoW and RS: Have people that earn gold to make real money (especially annoying on WoW when they whisper you about buying gold). Are very addictive, enjoyable games, where the community can either be annoying, or helpful. Are about lvling, which basically means that the higher you are, the higher you hit, the more tough monsters you attack and so on. Cost money to really appreciate them. Contrasts: WoW ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã8 - RS ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã3 (approx, WoW excl game cost) Disk space - Internet Thats about all I can think of for now. Has anybody else played both? (Note: This is not meant to bash either game, just compare and discuss the good and bad things about both. So please don't start flaming, saying that one of them is awesome and the other is rubbish.)
  24. At the moment, it'd probably be my D-helm. (which I probably shouldnt wear all the time when I'm a member....)
  25. Oh, and to further comment on mine, I still do think the ditch was a good idea, the password thing is probably good too, but still.... It's the fact that Jagex is continuing to pander to the younger. Watch out Jagex, WoW is growing on me, I might have a different game to go to if things continue this way....
