  1. Back from vacation with a good bunch of photos. This one was taken in Grenada. I'll be uploading more over the next few days. ( deviantART link )
  2. I was getting a "Page cannot be displayed" error repeatedly. After posting I tried it again and it worked. My mistake. :)
  3. Imageshack is one of the most reliable image hosts on the net. It also includes a big variety of different filetypes. Photobucket is probably one of the least. I use tinypic sometimes. Small URLs are always nice :) For videos & sound I use putfile. The site isn't even working. :? Edit: Ah, working now!
  4. The most important thing when making your own art is that you make it yourself... :!: This sig just looks like a butchered image from google. The original looked a lot better.. this is crowded and busy, it lacks any artistic composition or effort.
  5. Thanks! I'll keep this title in mind, it's a good one! :D The artist who drew the dog sleeping on a deck (if that is what you're thinking of) was Tttia. He's a great painter and has been doing it for a quite a while. He's recently become inactive from tip.it, but he shows up from time to time. I'd be glad to try and help though, even though I'm still new to this aswell. I think you mean Tttia's. He had a PDF tutorial on drawing for beginners, I believe. I can't remember the link, but I can point you in the direction of some other tutorials for that... http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm http://www.portrait-artist.org/ etc.
  6. ( working title.. suggestions? ) Hey guys. Back again with another of my infamous non-progressive WIPs. :D I might actually finish this one though!! (touch wood) Anyways, see below for the WIP. I'd appreciate any sort of critiques/criticism/advice/etc. Photoshop 7 Intuos3 1800x1200 pixels, 300dpi Concept / Initial Plan When finished, there will be a small boy/girl grabbing for a gold coin (or other valuable) hanging from a tree branch. On the right will be an innocent, lush scene with plenty of vivid colours. The tree will be leafy and full of life. On the left, a bleak scene of death and decay. The muddy ground will be covered in bones. The trees will all be dead and the scene will be completely void of life. I'm hoping to construct it in a "mysterious fairy-tale" style... Previews (Fri, March 03, '06) more concepts.. bunch of different trees using Greg Martin's Winter Mist II as a ref for shape & form. concept & composition..?? basic linework sketched in ps update:: blocking down highlights and a few shadows for the "life" side of the tree. I might end up redoing this completely.. :) Older Versions i. colours only base colour & linework

I'll throw some c/c at ya. :) The way the shirt curves around her stomach is almost suggesting that she's really putting an effort into making her stomach bulge out, and the way she's standing almost makes it look even worse (with her arms "pushing" her stomach out). If you could fix the shirt curve it may help fix the "fat" issue people are seeing. Her right eye seems to tilt slightly, making it look a lot more snake-like. Not sure if this was intentional or not, but it seems a little out of place with the rest of this. Speaking of out of place.. the party hat! The shading style is dramatically different and almost looks more like a pixel than digital painting. It seems too wide, as if it could slip right down her head. I like it though :) It's definitely got potential.
  8. Good for a laugh.
  9. Calm down guys.. nobody's been "busted" for anything. He never denied using a reference, he simply hasn't mentioned it. He clearly didn't do any "tracing", and the similarities are hardly noticeable. He could have said "i used a reference for the sky" but I don't see how that would make any difference whatsoever... You guys are taking a fit on this guy before you even give him the chance to tell us what really happened. I'm sure if anyone had asked about a reference he would have pointed out which one he used.
  10. I really like what you've done with the sky, it looks like a very impressive space painting. This pixel is looking great so far, but I personally think the church & sky clash. And the sky itself seems to go right down to the horizon, which makes it look more like a green-screen sort of thing or something. Don't forget ambient lighting.. a red sky like that would cast a lot of red hues on the house, especially noticeable on the red panels. The path's perspective is a bit fishy, it needs to widen out or something. Both the sky & house are so completely different that they would probably be better suited as two separate pieces. But anyways, keep up the great work, the sky is really wonderful and I'm anticipating the final. :P
  11. Why is he shooting the ground? :P Very cool though. Kneepads look a little flat & the monsters in the back look like they're dissolving, but otherwise great detail & colours.

Not art??! This definitely is art! Although it might lack a bit of artistic creativity, it's still a very well done piece of art, by a very talented artist! :!: We are all artists here, and all have potential. It's really just the amount of experience & perseverance you have that determines the outcome of your work (talent helps, too.. hehe).

They aren't bad paintings, but the difference between those quick paintings and this portrait is staggering. I'm sorry to say it, but his old stuff looks awful next to this portrait! Showing everyone his old stuff only makes him look less skilled, and makes it much harder for anyone to believe that he did this. With that said, I personally believe he painted this, and have since I first saw it, I'm simply voicing what I suspect most other people would be thinking (from what I've been reading on the first couple pages). :) The best proof to this would be a detailed, illustrative step-by-step! *evil cackling at how devilishly sneaky of an idea that is*

Azvareth, posting Col's very old paintings only hinders his chances of being believed. :? Here are two things I personally think could be fixed up. 1. You really did achieve photorealism on this, just look at all these replies for proof. :) However, the bland/dark colours and gainy texture, not to mention blurriness, suggest "webcam" or "poor quality", which should be avoided for any portrait. :!: 2. The subject itself is bland, and everything about this looks unoriginal. It's just a woman smiling... The same effect could have been achieved with a cheap camera. What would I suggest? Something more interesting.. Possibly through lighting, mood/atmosphere, positioning, brush strokes, etc. For example, here is a basic portrait painting. This concept is nothing new, but the artist gets creative and uses wild strokes, textures, and colours to make it a real "wow". http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=46947 I'm not saying this would fit with a portrait like what you've done, I'm just trying to find an example of how you can "spice" this up, and "think outside the box" even for such a simple concept. Otherwise, really great painting. Loads better than what I could do, so I hope you don't mind my somewhat harsh critique. :)
  15. hah. That gave me a laugh. You need a better scanner...
  16. Yep, with my Intuos3 tablet. Heh thanks.. I'll try to this time :P
  17. Yarrr.. here be an unfinished pirate (kinda used jack sparrow refs) Another speed painting in PS... :)
  18. Alright, if you insist. :) I'd still like to see what it looks like without that filter though.. ;)
  19. lmao.. funniest fake i've seen in a while. (if it is a fake?)
  20. It depends.. if you want a nicely designed room, you should get a print that goes well with it. If you just want a laugh.. get the dragon on the can. (it would be great for the bathroom, but would most likely completely throw off any design you've got going on in there) These two could look great depending on the design of your room.. http://www.deviantart.com/print/129592/ http://www.deviantart.com/print/179922/ Grats on winning a prize. :)
  21. The filter completely demolished it. :? From what I can see, it could have had some potential before that, but it's extremely difficult to tell.

Valentine's themed speed painting, using PS. http://www.deviantart.com/view/29296098/ Any tips on the shadow?? I can't seem to get it right :-s
  23. Wow, great topic Terley. I'll definitely have to try this out when I return next week. :)
  24. Yep :D A really big beer mug. (buyer's idea..) Thanks for the comments, guys. If you want to see a step-by-step on the cloud, click the link below: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=399931
  25. Sprite/pixel art is nice because: 1. The drawings are made entirely pixel by pixel (ie: 1px pencil tool. no brushing, no opacities, etc.) 2. They originated as sprite art for 8-bit games, so they have a "classic", or "oldschool" feel. 3. They don't require any expensive equipment. Here's DeviantArt's description of Pixel Art
