  1. Very neat sig. One of the better "grunge" sigs I've seen in a while. Good use of stocks, nice flow and composition. The typography isn't bad but it's difficult to read. It should be a couple points larger, or should have sharper anti-aliasing. Keep it up.
  2. If you haven't already, try 1) rebooting, 2) cleaning the CD, 3) contacting support. If you got ahold of it freely, and don't have a CD or customer support services, we can assume that whatever executable you obtained is somehow corrupted (possibly problems while downloading, or maybe the source file itself is corrupted). If P2P sharing is legal where you live, one option would be to search for torrents. If you can't do that, there's always online shopping. :)

Yep, I'd have to agree. Pretty bland imo... I might be wrong, but the closer mountains should be much darker because of the backlighting (ie: think silhouettes).
  4. JPEGs should be completely cross-platform files. It sounds like your images are corrupt, and if they work on the Mac it's probably the MP3 player that corrupted them. A lot of MP3 players will compress files, sometimes into their own custom formats, before storing them on their drives. Make sure your player allows for transfer of image files, and also make sure you're using the player's program to transfer the files to and from the computer. I'd suggest using some sort of jump drive for copying files. Most MP3 players were only made to store sound files.
  5. Nice fire! Hopefully you'll add some glow/diffuse on it before finishing. Lines looks solid, but the character looks a bit like a Muppet. :?: Also, be sure to clean up your linework before colouring. Right now your current sig's outlines are a bit problematic. See the linework and soft outlines tutorials.

Are you looking into 3D animation or 2D animation? They are two completely different fields. ;) You should start reading up on basic art and design theory and get in as much practice as you can, building your portfolio along the way. Try to familiarise yourself with a multitude of programs and mediums. Like the others have mentioned, your artistic ability is the most important part of becoming a professional artist.
  7. It's really hard to read the text and there is very little attention to detail in the pixeling. The red/orange colours from the fire should spill out into the surrounding area. Good work but it doesn't seem complete yet.
  8. Just connect all the dots :) Start from the bottom left, go to top right, down to bottom right, up to top left, to right, up to top, down to bottom left, etc. There are a bunch of ways to do it..
  9. google: optimize gif animation Try to do something on your own please...
  10. That trunk is nice! Leafy stuff is always hard in pixel art, so I'm not at all surprised that it's of lesser quality. Also, great avvy. Maybe he used a reference, but IMO the shape would be more realistic if he traced over an image. It also wouldn't have been so blocky... Agreed.
  11. i don't have any. i think i drew a scribble by accident and didn't realize i wasted all my ink :( very neat site though, other than that ink issue which is a bit frustrating :) PS: yay went up by 0.1%
  12. how do i get more ink?
  13. Definitely improving quickly. 8) I like that YinYang sig.
  14. I love conceptart. :) Great community there. Cgtalk is good too, but the average skill level is extremely intimidating
  15. venomai.deviantart outdated though, plan to change it around soon...
  16. He said acrylic on canvas. :) The top right half looks beautiful, it sort of falls apart below that -- the colours there need more saturation & intensity. Great work though! Keep it up.
  17. Sounds fun. How many entries can we have per week? And why not let us also draw on weekends? Usually that's when people have the most free time... :)

Plot was lame but it was well executed from an artistic standpoint. Sound and visuals just blew me away. Definitely not the kind of movie to take your girlfriend to, though! :P
  19. Good start, looks fantastic. :)

Good work! I agree with the others, needs lips and some sort of background. Even just a lighter background IMO, so we can see the hair. Also might want to add a bit more depth and shadows to "define" the features of the face.
  21. Maybe I'm missing something? He specifically told us he traced the plane. Sorry if I'm hijaking your thread, but in my opinion, discouraging copyright infringement is some of the best constructive criticism you can give! :-w
  22. I'm still new to photography, haven't had much experience with it. Any c/c appreciated. Used Nikon D50 and Photoshop for some post editing. Thumbs for the rest... <-- A water bottle! :o What's missing in the next photo? :P
  23. Old habits die hard. And copying photos is usually a bad habit for an artist. 1. It doesn't help you improve your freehand skills. Copying images won't make you a better artist. 2. The result shows more creativity and skill than you deserve credit for. 3. It's something that people could sue you over. 4. Artists and art appreciators like myself and Sharcoth don't like seeing copied artwork. 5. The original artist rarely gets the credit. They are the ones that put the time, effort and money into making a unique piece of art. If the only time you design and create your own artwork is for something important, then your important pieces are going to be your worst pieces. When learning, it's sometimes advised to trace certain shapes, such as the bone structure in the face. Whether this is helpful or not, it's something that should be done privately, purely to get a feel for the geometry. Nobody wants to see how good of a tracer you are. You are then meant to use your practices as a guide on how the shape is constructed. It has nothing to do with composition, colour scheme, or perspective. If you trace an image to the extent that it is exactly the same or very similar ot the original, then that's called copying, and it's fully punishable by law.
  24. Yes, they certainly are a good way to learn. :) Most of your fractals follow the same style -- wirling, glowing flames with a dark background. This is something that can be seen from anyone who's ever tried Apophysis (including me). Hence, I'd say they are unoriginal. Sorry, that's just my opinion on it.
  25. That doesn't mean trace images, it means work more efficiently and choose a medium that you work fast in. I guess you also missed the lesson on copyright infringement? =; A graphic artist will NEVER copy/trace/use artwork unless they have the rights to the piece. Nice attention to dithering and shading. Not much in terms of detail yet, but I guess that comes at a later point. Could use some soft outlines. I'd like to see you do this freehand. What a hypocrite!
