  1. Unfortunately all your major problems are with the proportions, anatomy, and perspective. As a suggestion I'd say you should start simple and try to sketch out your pieces beforehand, especially for complex drawings like the human figure, and especially when it's in such a difficult pose. Get some critiques on it and fix it up before starting on the rest. Just remember to work with baby steps, and don't take any dangerous leaps (ie: detailing before you've finished linework). :)
  2. Updated it a bit. :D Fixed the shadow. Sketching out background ideas Considering a different colour scheme Adding details and randomness Nothing's complete yet, as you can see, but it's coming along. :)
  3. Nice and original. Don't like the colours much, though. they kinda clash imo
  4. My only other tip for now would be to aim more for a digital painting/drawing (ie: only using brush tool), rather than using gradients/filters/effects/etc. to get your desired result.
  5. this is coming along nicely! Great progress so far. I'd suggest to not make those highlights so soft, and maybe anti-alias some of the jaggies with a bit of blurring or brushing. Keep it coming :)
  6. Thanks again for the comments. :) I've just finished cleaning up the pear, I'll try and get some progress done on the second pear over the next couple days if I can find the time! :D
  7. No, Photoshop 7. Thanks for the comments.
  8. EDIT: Mini update. Click for details. OLDER VERSION: http://www.deviantart.com/view/26268786/ Critiques & comments encouraged. :)
  9. Maybe it's just the glare on my monitor, but right now the most prominent part of this splash is the white pixel in the middle. It's a bit of a weak focal point, and the surrounding elements aren't too effective. Minimalistic is great to aim for, but this is over the top. It's just empty and bland right now... Try adding elements of design and an interesting/appealing focal point. Keep in mind, a splash is the first thing the viewer will see on your site, and that's where first impressions will be coming from. Good luck :)
  10. Nice outlines on the new one. =D Have you taken any art/design courses? And do you do any drawings other than cartoon-styled? j/c
  11. All the reds, including those in the background, are distracting and seem to draw the eye far away from the actual subject in the photo. Try to avoid gaussian blurs on the background if you are trying to imitate a camera out-of-focus effect.
  12. hiya! Been a long time since I've seen your last! Great sketch, cute as usual. :) Nice on the subtle texturing. Got any other recent digipaints? :o
  13. Looking a bit smudgy/blurry, and streaky in some areas. Although a great start, none the less! Much luck with future paintings! Which tablet are you using? I'm hoping to get an Intuos3 for Christmas, I hear it's great.

There is a reason your old topic was locked. It would be good to find out why before posting a dupe thread...
  16. Sorry about the quality, my scanner is terrible. Open for suggestions or tips on how I should go about improving future drawings...
  17. Deviantart doesn't allow hotlinking. But some of you can see the hotlinked image because it has been cached on your computer from when you first saw it on dA. So the link you should be giving us is: http://www.deviantart.com/view/24954147/ :) Anyways, great job! Congrats on the feature :D And awesome piece you've put up.
  18. Only problem I see is the unnatural transition between highlights & shadows on his cheeks. Otherwise, looks fantastic. :) Keep it up.
  19. Try setting the text to a different Anti-Aliasing size. Cool colours, but it looks extremely unoriginal. :?
  20. Forgive me for jumping to conclusions, but I'm having a hard time believing you made the RS character or the font in Paint, not to mention the abstract background. So really, unless I'm completely mistaken, you did absolutely nothing to this mishmash of other people's art. And if that is the case, I'm unfortunately going to agree with Skulled when it comes down to how much effort you put into the sig. :? Better luck next time! :) It would be much better if you made some of it yourself.
  21. Hello! I'm back with some more stuff, this time Photography. This was the first serious roll of film I've taken from an artistic approach, so I still have plenty to learn. I had 24 photos, but most were crappy or just lighting tests. Critiques welcome. I just got em all up and working tonight, so I havn't had time to fix them up in photoshop yet. I'll try to update this when I have time. Images are scaled down to 50% of original size.

Here is my most recent sig, not completely finished though. I usually don't make sigs & abstracts nowadays, but it was for a competition and I couldn't resist :P v1. v2. The 3D below was all I used for the sig - which was made in 3dsmax and rendered in Brazil r/s. This is it before post-editing, I only bothered to render in one angle.
  23. Sorry for the late reply, I've been out all day. Fantastic work, a very good piece you've got going. Nice colours. Using a tablet? The bow is looking good, the green on the arrow needs to go IMO. The legs don't look bad, and the hair + clothes (especially that arm band) look great. I think the biggest problems are your skin shading (doesn't look very natural?) and the lack of texture. If you softened up the shadows and highlights I think it would help a lot, and adding some more texture could make it much more interesting. But as I said, right now it's a solid piece of art and I can't wait for the final. Anyways, I'm not my best tonight, hopefully I can give you a more useful critique tomorrow. EDIT: Here's a start. I'll try and re-scan them on a better scanner over the weekend, this one is giving me very small images :| (reference: drawing by Andrew Loomis)
  24. Depends, if they are line sketches (not final pieces) you can still post them and they will fall somehwat under "The rest of the human body - Muscular System or otherwise". Almost any human-figure/form based sketches or drawings, even if they are caricatures or cartoons, are fine with me. I'm just putting limits to avoid grunge/abstract or completely off-topic things. (Hopefully QS agrees with me on this, but the more activity the better!) We have plenty of drawers (mostly pixelers) that could really learn from a decent anatomy practice. And yes, that means you too :) Even if QS and I are the only ones participating (shame on the rest of you if this is the case :P ) we can still get quite a bit of art and practice done in the time we have (1 month) for this subject alone. PS: I've finished a profile view of the head, hopefully I can get it scanned by tonight if I'm not too busy. :)
