  1. I liked it. I thought it was a good setup for book 7. Best of all, JKR left a lot of little clues for us to guess at. I've come up with a different theory on Dumbledore's death. -> Dumbledore is really an Animagus - his Animagi-form is actually a phoenix. Phoenix's will burst into flames when it's their time to die (called a Burning Day), and will then be reborn from their ashes. I've laid out plenty of clues in the thread below: http://www.veritaserum.com/forums/index ... topic=5783
  2. The face could definitely do with some darker tones around the edge. Otherwise, keep it up - by far your best yet. :)
  3. Thats a nice concept, but the vectorized version is very weak (filter vectors? :(). And it would look better if you just made the shape of the iPod (in the vector version) rather than adding all the details...
  4. Heh yea, he looks pretty ghostly.. Tweaking with adjusment layers isn't turning out as red and peachy as I was hoping, I think I'll end up just redoing it with a better colour palette. Nice sig, by the way. Cool pose and good work with the lighting. Are you working with a larger canvas, or directly at that size? Anyways, no bears from me either - but I have been working on some new techniques. This was for their daily sketch forum - today's subject was "Art of War". EDIT: Here's a brighter one. Gotta fix my monitor :x http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/2852/finalgod9kk.jpg
  5. First, I'm going to try and clear up some these terms. Stolen: To take without right or permission. Similar terms (in this context) would be "Ripped" or "Plagiarised". I'm guessing you havn't earned yourself permission to use these graphics in your own work. Plagiarism: To use and pass off (the ideas or writings of another) as one's own. Even if an image is not copyrighted and you "rip" it, you would have still stolen it. This is illegal nearly world-wide, and you could be fined/arrested if the original author decided to take actions against you. I: This is, generally, the term we use to refer to ones self. For example, if I was to say, "I've made these sigs," it would be insinuating that I made the sigs. Another handy tip; "I" is always capitalized. So simply put, you have stolen somebody elses artwork and claimed it as your own. If you havn't already come to the same conclusion I have; you've just plagiarized. -- Alright, secondly, this is very rarely true. Stock photography (or graphics) are free to use, and are not copyrighted. These "renders" you have chosen, much like those of Master Chief or Mario, have been copyrighted, meaning they are not intended for anyone but those who have the rights to them. -- And lastly, you should also note that using renders is considered a shameful thing to do to most artists (well, that is to say those artists more advanced than sigs). Plagiarism laws are not often enforced, especially by the more common render-artwork, but you should have enough respect (and skill, hopefully) to make art by yourself, instead of having to resort to somebody elses artwork. The least you could do though, if you included renders, is to make backgrounds more than just abstract 'grunge'. These, especially with pre-made grunge brushes, do not take much skill and very rarely look professional. :| Good-day to you, I hope to see more artwork from you in the future and less 'render-sigs'. :) I'm also sorry if I came off a bit harsh, I think we're all just trying to illustrate the fact that doing this is bad, and won't get you very far in the world of digital art (or sigmaking, for that matter).
  6. His hands seem bent in awkward positions. The left side of his head sticks out too far, it should be less visible because of the way he's facing. Otherwise, truely amazing work. :o
  7. Its nice, a little shaky though. Using mouse? Haha.. I like how you classify abstract and grunge as seperate styles. And the term Vector does not refer to 2D illustrations alone, or abstract sigs as you're putting it, but is an entirely different type of graphic, formed by points and lines, rather than by pixels (a graphic made up of pixels would be raster-based).
  8. Big nose, and an impeccably small forehead. :| Your style is original, but I think you'd have some success if you aimed for photorealistic pixel. Nevertheless, it's still a great job, and a nice change from the usual. And great shading ;)
  9. Not bad, but it's looking very flat. You need to lay down more shades, or blend in the ones you currently have. Your edges are a little bumpy, so I'd have to guess this is a WIP? The mouth..? It looks like an emboss, not really drawn lips. :| And the detail is lacking, if you havn't already I'd suggest making it at a large size (to make details/etc. MUCH easier) and then resize the final down to easy viewing size. Anyways, great start. Hope to see more :D PS: You should check out this thread (a tutorial on nearly every other page, they are all good..) http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread. ... e=14&pp=15
  10. Off topic wip, for Kane's little event (doesn't look like he's going through with it though). :P WIP (45% zoom) I think i'm gonna try out some new methods for it though.. He's looking a little pale
  11. It looks 'over-dithered'. But good nevertheless :)
  12. I'm using a light skin, so it blends in a little too much with the sig. :| Nice concept though.
  13. venomai replied to Kane's topic in Art and Media
I liked your previous sig a lot better, I thought it was one of the better sigs I've seen on tip. :( This one needs a lot of work, the detail looks non-existant and it looks flat. gsw has mentioned the other flaws with it.
  14. WIP (45% zoom) Still need to detail the skin before moving onto the next steps.

    For my dA account...
  16. Woah, this will be tough. :? I don't think I know 20 tip.it names, let alone ones that could somehow fit the entries you gave us :P PS: Hat's off to #14, very well done!
  17. emotion. quickie for today... 3dsmax + ps
  18. Yep, models are very basic and they all lack even the largest of details. If you know how to use Photoshop (or another image editing program) you can import your own textures/skins and get some decent results. Good luck. :)
  19. Ah, well it's not pixel really... But great detail on the tree. The moon looks a little too bright though. Looks more like a sun than anything...
  20. FIRST!! OMGWTHWHFKJL!JK!!!1111 Shadow on the left looks odd, but you don't notice it at smaller sizes (like your sig). Cool atmo and angle, gives it a great fantasy look. Sky and mountains look a little too sharpened IMO and it could do with some airbrushing (a boat in the water, a stream flowing from the mountains, bridges, whatever..). It looks beautifully real, but all these terragens are starting to look bland and unoriginal. :(
  21. There are digital painters at rsc? :o btw, I've been away from my PS/scanner since monday. I should be back at it tomorrow afternoon, ready for these new topics! :)
  22. Nice! :o Some astonishing stuff in the gallery, and the features look sweet! Is this a plugin to Terragen?
  23. Hehe, I'll try to do digipaints from now on.
  24. dino egg..? [original] Havn't cleaned up the edges. Was more of a test of detail than anything.. :x
