  1. I don't have a picture but I use my laptop backpack as a school one as well. It's pretty durable.
  2. I both raid and PvP in WoW but the games PvP is very focused on small skirmishes. I wouldn't consider the games raids to be a grind although you could consider that once you have a place on farm (aka know the fights). However the games PvP is anything but a grind in the arena. It's all about getting better.
  3. 70% of the time, really? Stop making stuff up. Either you play at extremely odd times (when servers may be down for 15 minutes for rolling restarts) or you played on a patch day. There is nothing to master about the games combat. It's all auto attacking and maybe throwing in a special weapon move now and then. That's it. The only people who think there is something to "master" have not played other MMOs, or other good MMOs. I really don't want to reference WoW but, really, it is a good example of a great combat system. While in PvE it generally comes down to remembering a good DPS rotation for maximum DPS in PvP it all comes down to knowing when, how and where to use certain abilities. Anyone who thinks PvP doesn't take any sort of skill is very wrong in that regard, due to even the reaction speed players need to be at the top of their game. You should watch some PvP videos from WoW now and then, watching the skill in some of them is incredible.
  4. 'cuz priest is OP in arena atm. :D
  5. I'm hoping for a non runescape fanart piece? Looks good so far.
  6. I just posted in it. Reading back I kind of rambled but, really, I find it surprising that he tried to compare it to real MMOs. :) (And Ultima Online, really?) edit: Awesome Jaziek.
  7. The fact that you compare runescape to pre-tramel Ultima Online or many other good MMORPGs is pretty surprising. I wouldn't call runescape a sandbox. Does it have simularities to a sandbox? Sure, it does. It has various skills you can level up. It allows you to, more or less, level up as you please. The problem I have is that runescape is too basic of a "sandbox". The only real goal to obtain and the only real goal people seems to care about are stats. Yes, these runescape players are just exactly the statistic hungry, level grinding children you all love to reference so much in so many other mainstream MMORPGs. I don't need any proof because all you need to turn to is places such as Rate This, where you get child after child bragging about their ability to grind. It's not so much I'm against the grind. However I am against grind that has no real purpose other than to simply grind stats. Going back to what I was saying earlier in Ultima Online there was so much more when it came to guild versus guild relationships and true free for all loot. The thing we also need to keep in mind is that UO is an old game. While it certainly was not the first MMORPG (that honor goes to Neverwinter Nights as the first graphical MUD) it was the first to gain any sort of reputation and was one of the first to start laying out the rules for a sandbox. However Ultima Online still had more to do, had more purpose in the game world and was simply better than runescape. The comparison is pretty null. If you compare Runescape to what many would like to call a sandbox today I think you will see it getting further and further away from just that. EVE Online is one of the true, and actual good, sandbox MMORPGs out on the market. Mortal Online, Earthrise and even to an extent Jumpgate Evolution are all games that have heavy sandbox elements coming out soon that seem to be pushing the genre forward. The key to a sandbox is to allow you to make your own purpose in the world. You can be a trader, you can hunt rare monsters, you can take place in guild or clan politics. Essentially the goal is to provide a strong base for players to play in, a world. However you can't simply populate that world with a random assortment of monsters and enemy AI, or random quests with no real relevance to the games world. In EVE Online everything is based around real PvP conflict. They laid out a base strong enough that these kind of things can go on. In the future games such as Earthrise have resources that guilds can fight over for control, giving a goal -- a meaning to what they do. What I'm trying to get at this is runescape is a sandbox game without the meat. It may have enough of an assortment of various skills for a player to level (Even if they all pretty much are the same actions with minor differences) but it doesn't have any purpose. Even games such as Ultima Online had a purpose (kill or be killed, it was a very real world). And really I personally have a problem with the definition of a sandbox game. WoW has trainable skills to level, you can very well choose your own path be it conquering large bosses or participating in world PvP or the arena tournament. WoW technically has everything needed to consider it as a sandbox and, really, MMORPGs define themselves as sandboxes in some form. The way I see it runescape has no real strengths. I still consider it on par with any other java based game and I have a hard time placing it among the "real" MMORPGs. That being said I may just be a jaded gamer. I started with Ultima Online and I have played nearly every MMORPG since then (and currently play WoW). I realize I haven't really been defending WoW here or even really slamming runescape, make no mistake I do very much dislike runescape and, while I don't consider WoW the best MMORPG of all time by all means, I do think WoW is a very strong MMO and can't even be considered in the same sort of league as runescape. If anything compare Runescape to all the other "freemium" MMORPGs.
  8. Art may very well be subjective (and it is to an extent) but it still has to follow certain rules. And, sure, you can break those rules but you need to know them and need to have a good reason to break them. :) I for one am tired of people taking a factual or a 3D render and a picture from a game and pasting them into something and calling it "art". It's offensive really. I'm talking about a lot of the gallery in general though, not necessarily just the OP.
  9. Looks like the PTR is up for 3.1.2 and they are allowing premades. Copied over myself a warrior/rogue/druid/warlock. :)
  10. I'm fairly sure it's in their student code of conduct that possession of any drugs (prescription or not) is forbidden. It wasn't even a real strip search anyways. All that was was just pull and shake. Nobody even touched her. Should they have gotten an officer? Maybe, but you're all just seriously blowing this all out of proportion. It's still stupid. Having something that is the equivalent of asprin does not mean that you should strip search someone. It is an invasion of privacy. And just think of it from the childs perspective. How [bleep]ing embarrassing (not to mention scary) would it be to be told that you had to strip down to your underwear and jiggle because they thought you put asprin in your underpants. :| That's great. However just because you're fine with people being able to search you (even strip search) at will with no probable cause does NOT mean it should be ok or that it is alright. And I don't think it's blowing the situation out of proportion at all. It's an extreme example of authority abusing their power for matters that are not necessary. As I said before if she was believed to be holding something like meth? A weapon? Then, yes, search her! However even if it is against school regulation to not have asprin at school it simply is not worth abusing someones right because of it. Keep in mind that they didn't even have reasonable enough suspicion. Like I said before it would be like if I told someone that I got my "drugs" from you and then simply had you deal with all the [cabbage] behind it, you would be the one searched and the one with your privacy invaded. And yes I know that "you don't care" but in reality I don't think that you would be saying that if you were forced to strip down in front of authority.
  11. Are you not getting it or are you going along with it in a completely different style? O_o I dunno. I know you're trying to troll now. I still like taking every opportunity I can to make fun of runescape though.
  12. Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Volume II album I'm doing a lot of homework at the moment and needed something calm to help me focus. Considering I've never gave his ambient work's a real full listen I figured it would work perfectly. Amazing album(s) for sure.
  13. Good stuff. There is actually a few albums on here that I really want to put on my top list when I get the chance. (I'm sure you can guess some of them). I've actually heard of a lot of these bands. I really need to try out MBV though and shogaze in general. I've been pretty lazy with getting new music lately but I plan on really hitting it hard this summer. :) Also I like that you mentioned Alcest. I heard some of his material before and then forgot his name. Awesome.

Wait, you mean argue with me? :P That's generally the justification I can kind of side by. That and an article I read a while back stating that the word of mouth advertisement that bands get through illegal downloading is worth it, given that the pirate wouldn't have bought the album anyways. Of course I still don't really want to try and justify it, although I do think that artists could make a lot more money if they simply dropped their labels. Personally I think some artists underestimate how amazing word of mouth is for advertisement these days. Even if you're relatively new to the scene if you have good material available for download (supported through paid advertisements or what will you) than you will have people catch on fast. Really though it is a battle the record companies aren't going to win. NIN already proved that the download method worked, now it's just time for other artists to catch on.
  15. That's [cabbage] riku. They had no reason to believe that she had drugs on her (and ibprofin, the hell?) and some student testimony isn't good enough to even get any sort of probable cause. Usually I can see the point of the entire "if you don't have anything to hide, oh well?" arguement -- but think about it. A thirteen year old girl. Strip searched. At a SCHOOL with no good probable cause that she had something that it the same thing as some goddamn asprin. That is not within the schools rights and it shouldn't be. If they had reason to believe and it was done by the correct authorities, and it was something that was actually serious and not [cabbage] ibprofin? Then that would be an entirely different story. As it is they had no right and I can't believe you'd actually idly allow that. You're telling me you'd be fine getting frisked by a male school attendant because some kid thought you had asprin? I mean, there is a limit to how much bs you can take man, dear god. Anyways I hope they get found guilty for that. Unless it is a matter of life and death ... why?

Yes. And I like how nobody argues with him, just because it's Nadril. If it was some other kid all you guys would be all over him. Ok?
  17. ^ with the amount of [cabbage] thats happening in WoW too atm... :D Just did a sarth 10 3Drake rush with my guild. It's pretty fun. Pulled 4800dps without a feral drood. edit: http://www.mmo-champion.com/index.php?topic=52581.0 Why they feel the need to nerf easy encounters is beyond me. The only one out of those that could have possibly used a little readjusting was ignis (and even then we got him to 8% the other night down 2 players and only 6 healers) but really.. those other fights are real easy. It will be funny though when those people hit the brick wall known as mimron. If you can't down XT-002/Razorscale yet than I kind of doubt you can kill Mimron trash.
  18. Really? XT-002 has been so nerfed I would be amazed if you couldn't get him down still. Herein lies the problem. We spent one night trying XT the week it came out. We've spent basically every raid night since trying to work out Ignis, and when the trash respawns, trying Razorscale until we call the night. Not happy at all. Ignis is the hardest of the 3.
  19. Nadril replied to Maze's topic in Off-Topic
Yes. I'm not going to try and morally justify it or anything. I just do.
  20. http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php
  21. Well my rogue @ 70 pulled around 1200-1300dps if I remember right in full epics, raid buffed. I think you're probably in a decent position to pull around 1100 @ 73, although your gear (obviously) needs help getting rid of the spell power pieces. I would hope you were throwing divine storm into your rotation though, right? From what I understand from my ret buddies they say ret dps is pretty much just hit whatever isn't on CD. bads will always be bads.
  22. If your gear is as awful as you say (armory link please?) then 1.1k is fine for lvl 73. (depending on how much you aoe'd). And people are terrible at this game so expect to beat a lot of them. We beat him on 10 man real easy, I heard 25 man is a bit harder though. Agree about the crap raiders thing though.
  23. I guess. Who really cares about dps pre-80 as long as the stuff dies though.
  24. Or you could play a good game. @OP: The only game I liked playing online on the 360 was Street Fighter IV. That being said I am not a fan of FPS on the console.
  25. Really? XT-002 has been so nerfed I would be amazed if you couldn't get him down still.
