  3. Also feel free to post your character names and what server. I'm on the US server (starts with an S) and name is Nadril. Level 14 now on my Blade master, having a good time. Difficulty is really ramped up now from beta.

Its all personal preference really, choose which one suits you best. I personally don't like the Zen interface but many people do.

I can't say I have too much knowledge of industrial metal to be honest. I've listened to Fear factory before (close to it) and they are ok. However Jesu is the best Industrial metal band I've heard. They aren't your typical industrial metal like Fear factory either, its very calm and quite amazing.
  6. EPIC. Thats all that comes to mind as the trilogy finished. My god it was great lol.
  7. I was too busy playing Hellgate: London and watching the new episode of south park. :P
  8. Or, they could get good programmers that know that they don't have forever to perfect a code. In a perfect world products just simply can not be 100% bug free, which is difficult for a large company because Microsoft because theres so many others looking for holes in their software. (which, with how large windows is it isn't common to be able to find one). Of course most people ignore the fact that with the proper software they can be well protected over windows anyways. I'm sorry, are you a programmer? When you work at the magnitude of a project like microsoft does it is impossible to be able to 100% proof your code. When you say smart programmers don't make mistake thats a load of bull. Even the best, most talented programmers in the world make mistakes -- they are called typos. If you would have had any experience in programming at all you would realize that a small typo can make a very large difference in code. Likewise a good comparison would be writers. Even the biggest, most professional writers make typos in their books. Hell, open up any textbook and look through and you can probably find at least a few typos others have missed. They exist, and they effect programmers much more than writers. It does in a way mater who is at the top. The person at the top gets the most attention, and users will find errors in it sooner or later by sheer numbers. A lesser known software may have as many or more bugs but they aren't found. No, you are not correct -- Stop with that mentality. You are the one with the flawed mentality, who thinks that it is so incredibly easy to get a 'skilled' programmer that does not make a single mistake. You're a fool. If you're referencing vista here its not microsofts fault but other driver developers. The reason why Vista was such a headache was because drivers simply were not ready for that. And that is not microsofts job, but the actual hardware manufacturers. What else are they after other than money? I figured the fact that it is a buisness should be obvious. You are correct that many non-tech savvy people probably will not be able to find what OS suits them the best. However most OS problems that happened seemed to be largly that which hurt the more advanced user, the only problem it may give an average user is if it had problems with printer drivers or likewise. Apple also doesn't have millions of script kiddies looking for holes in their OS each day. Saying that they simply hire smarter programmers to is flawed logic, the fact that you think that apple just simply hirers programmers as if they are set on 'tiers' or something is, well, flawed. Again its not 'easy'. Its not as easy as pushing a button, or changing some text. Often times there may be an error you find but when you fix it it creates more problems. This (should) be obvious to some people but sadly it isn't. So many people these days think coding is easy to fix and can be done quickly. It can't, I'm sorry. Fail. I can't really comment on this because I don't use macs often (except when in school for graphic design) but based off of: look at their new OS, Lepord, and tell me they didn't try adding a bunch of new features? I've also already seen a few security flaws others have found out through digg, so its not perfect.
  9. That's not old, I guess your not old enough. Think N64 and Genesis  My parents didn't want me to have videogames back then, except a Gameboy color which broke, but I'm thinking of buying an N64 for my room (did you know the games cost more then the system? ) And N64 is so much older, lol.
  10. First off, what is hellgate:london you may ask? Well it is the new game by Flagship Studios, in which it is their first project. Many of the members of their team have worked on Diablo and Diablo II and their basis of inspiration for Hellgate was the Diablo Series. From the main website: Hellgate London is set in, surprise surprise, London in 2038. The storyline is mostly told through in game, and the game follows acts much like Diablo II. But, alas, on to the review: First Impressions (beta): When I played the demo game, I'm not going to lie, I wasn't as impressed as I could have been. Sadly FSS did a fairly poor job on a real entertaining demo and I would not recommend anyone base a purchase around it. However a day later I was accepeted into the US beta and my adventure began. I started in the gameworld as an Engineer. The games classes are split into three different 'factions' or for lack of a better word base classes. The class distribution goes something like this: Templar- -Guardian -Blade Master Cabalist- -Evoker -Summoner Hunter- -Marksman -Engineer The classes are fairly standard for a game. The Guardian is a tank type of character, wielding a sword and a shield. Likewise the blade master is efficiently the melee DPS user, using two swords at once in a style very reminiscent of the barbarian (they even have whirlwind!). The Templars mainly use melee weapons. Under Cabalist's we had the Evoker and Summoner. The Evoker is the basic nuker of the six. Meanwhile the Summoner is a pet class, able to control many minions at once. Both of these classes use 'focus' items which look suprisingly like guns -- and because of this you can play them in first person view like you would the Hunter classes. Finally the hunter classes. The marksman is your typical 'archer', except in this game you trade off a bow for a nice gun. I haven't had much experience playing a marksman but playing one is nearly like playing part of an FPS, I'm sure some skilled players will do well with one. And, we get to my class -- Engineer. The engineer can build robots and packs a gun like the marksman does. His robots can do all amounts of thing, such as slow his enemies, shoot rockets at them or even attack with whatever weapon you give it. But back onto the story. So I load in the game and am immediately introduced with some quest text. Apparently I have to talk to some guy named 'Murmur' which is surprisingly similar in nature to Cane from Diablo and Diablo II. He has me go on what is a basic tutorial run through of the game. Thankfully it doesn't really go into explaining stuff over and over, however it gives you a chance to kill some easy zombies and get on your way. After slaughtering my way through the horde I found a wounded templar, who than pointed me over to the station. Stations are a lot like towns in Guild Wars, as Hellgate takes the same instanced style that GW does. That means that inside the stations are where you can do all your business such as trading, partying, ect. while outside are instances for only you and your party. Stations also serve as hubs to move you along, and feed you with various quests and side quests. After playing through a bit I stumbled upon my first 'boss' mob. His large, golden name and gigantic size frightened me but with some kiting around he was dead. :P Most of the 'bosses' you will find are instead but unique mobs, however lets just say they have some phat lewt on them. Looting my rewards I went back to town to turn in quests and continued forward. Now to spare my life story of the game I'm going to just talk about some key points here I noticed (in beta). The first, which I'm sure a lot are wondering about, is the graphics. How does the game look? run? Well artistically wise they did the devastated city look quite well. I know that many people were disappointed that (at least in the first 22 levels offered in beta) most of the game takes place in the city, sewers, train stations, ect. With some trips into hell gates. However you have to consider that the game is based in a city and likewise you will see a lot of city elements. Monsters and character models look nice, at least on DX9 they do. The game was obviously not built up to compete with the likes of crysis because at many times you will have as much as 20-30 mobs on your screen, and a lot can go on. However my computer handles it just fine, and really the only slow parts I had in beta were random slow downs in town. Stability wise beta had a few problems, mostly with memory leaks. This would cause the game to crash every so often -- however the retail client has (I assure you) fixed most of the crash errors and are working on it. My overall impressions of the beta were strong. The skill tree of the game is much like Diablo II, except all located on one page. Generally there are at least 3 major 'branches' of skills for each class that allows for a various amount of builds to spring up. (max level is 50). The big thing is to beware because there are no build respecs, which I agree on with FSS because your build -- too, is a large part of your character. Gameplay wise its still a lot of hack and slash. I didn't get a chance to group much in beta but the game proved to be enjoyable both solo and in a party, and will certainly feed the appetite of many vet Diablo and Diablo II players. I left beta feeling good about the game, which than leads us up to today. Retail release thoughts: So now retail is upon us. I make it my liberty this time to create a Blade master. As much as I liked the idea of Engineer I just thought I could do better as a Blade Master and it was something new. Most of it was the same from beta, except a bit more polished in areas (they fixed slowdown issues and many technical issues). This time I played through with my roomate, who was making a guardian. So, what do I think of the party system? Well in a lot of ways it is (again) close to Diablo II's method. Pretty much the difficulty of the instance is based off of how many members in the party you have. The more members the more xp and health the monsters have. Looting, in fact, was the single largest difference. Now remember in Diablo II we always had to 'race' for the loot and it sucked --hard. Losing a chance to get an incredibly powerful weapon or armor piece you needed because someone clicked faster than you, it sucked. Hellgate simply divides up loot between players and only shows it on your screen. So for example if I find a blue sword my roomate couldn't even see it on the ground. Fear not, however, as you both still got what a normal amount of loot would be if you were to go in solo. I think that this method of loot is probably one of the smartest for its kind, and it will extinguish the times where someone leaves a group after not getting an item they wanted. If you like the players than you can simply tell them, hey, I found a great item you want it once we get back to town? I had a complaint about the UI however. For one, the chat box is large , cumbersome and unsightly. Most of the time, in fact, I don't even have it open. Other than that there really aren't any other large complaints about the UI. Stepping back for a quick moment however I want to talk about loot in the game. The loot is split into (what we've came to recognize) white, green, blue and gold loot or normal, uncommon, rare, legendary loot. Many items allow themselves to be customized, and there are a slew of various item mods available. You can get mod pieces such as batteries or relics and put them into items that have the available slot open, or you can customize you weapon by augmenting it. Through augmentation you can add a common, rare or legendary property to an item for a fee which helps those who are rich, but unlucky. After adding a rare property to my blue mainhand its stats increased and it had a new, extra mod on it -- very handy. So what do I think of the game so far, overall? Well in its current state I would give it about an 86%. Pros: Tons of loot to choose from, good ole fun hack and slash that is remicent of diablo II. Skill tree is nice. Cons: Stability issues on some machines, perhaps too few classes. (getting more in patches to come however for subscribers). Enviroments may seem a little repetitive. Chat box size is annoyingly huge
  11. Great job on the brushing. Text is weak though and I don't like the border. Also I think you could deal with a less saturated cyan color there, idk, the color scheme just seems a little off.

Ooh, I'll be the guy who writes for Len... I mean, Kayla.
  13. They have fixed that with new models, at least, I heard it a while back. None-the-less its truely a case of the outspoken minority, I and plenty of people I know have not had any problems. I bought mine at Launch and haven't had any issues. Likewise I've had mine for a while with no problems. I mean, I don't play it near as much but still.
  14. And likewise just as much I hate the stupidity that surrounds people getting their accounts stolen. Considering that a large part of getting an account stolen via keylogger is your own happenings its just as much fault theirs as it is the script kiddy. And I think that people should learn about internet security, even the 'hard' way. What is better to lose, a runescape account or your credit card number / bank account?
  15. the suspension isn't what they're worried about. it's the 'dangerous weapon' on her behavior record. when she goes to get a job and they see she was suspended from school for bringing a dangerous weapon they're going to think twice about hiring her. that's why she is trying to get it changed to a tobacco violation. I would imagine (or hope) that once they found out more they could change it up.
  16. first, "developmentally delayed", you can call your friends at home, not me. second - i am c++ software engineer, for few years now, and judging by your attitude, older then you kid. third - wars are dirty. Last note - please dont pollute this thread anymore (i had hard time restraining myself this time) Dear god, wars? Worrying about script kiddies getting your little runescape account is not a WAR its a matter of not being stupid enough to download one in the first place. If you really are so much older than us you certainly do not show it. Fighting illegal behavior with more illegal behavior isn't the way to go about it, especially when the easiest solution is right in front of you, don't download them in the first place. And do you really think it would 'get rid of those darn keyloggers'? Sure, maybe -- possibly it could do something to the script kiddies computer, but chances are like Collective said the data is being put on a different ftp server all together. In that case its all a matter of just using something different. I also seriously doubt you are a c++ software developer.
  17. Sadly they don't know if she didn't have a gun somewhere else or not. It sucks but well, to be honest, I don't exactly blame the school either. Its shown time and time again when you don't actually take action the worst always seems to happen. Still a suspension isn't that large of a deal.
  18. Muse- Knights of Cydonia. Heard it on Guitar hero III and fell in love with the song, good stuff.
  19. http://www.filefront.com/ Have fun. Allows up to 1GB files.
  20. http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/896/12 ... ailes9.jpg no, you and nadril fail to see that it was a joke, i'm not stupid. Both you and nadril are [wagon]! Just because you've been here for a long time or got many posts it dosen't mean you're better than everyone else. I actually tought you guys were cool, but screw that. Jokes, generally, are funny. At least where I live they are.

I've still to this date not seen any of the Saw movies.
  22. epic fail. It's funny how everytime you quote me all you can say is "Epic fail" There may be a reason for that.
  23. Guns and Roses- Welcome to the Jungle. On Guitar hero III lol.
