Well right now the planet is already resized down over half. (started as 2500x2500). I'll probably work with clouds and some other stuff on it however, really make it look better. There is some stuff I can improve on it definitely before I place it in a scene. :)

I guess you are right. I'm not geologist after all :P. Sadly changing it up terribly much is more of a pipe dream for the land mass at this point.

Hmm.. clouds could deal with perhaps a bit lower opacity now that you mention it. Thanks.

I still need to work on the light shining through the cracks. I think once I've done that, then it will be pretty much perfect without having to totally change the image. Can people help me with this? The light shining through should be white, I wouldn't see any reason why it'd be blue. Try just switching it to white and lowering opacity some, or setting it to screen. PS: I got Inspired to make my own planet that'll be part of a space scene because of your sig. I forgot how much fun space scenes are :).

So I haven't made one of these babys in forever and, well, I kind of got inspired too by the recent space signature thats popped up here. Needless to say the above is what I came out with. :) Anyways any comments/suggestions/CC? I'm going to be building a larger scene around this when I get the time.

He is telling the truth, it helps if you are multi tasking. Now -- sure, you might not get as many frames per second than if it did use multi-threading however pretty much any game on the market now does. The games that don't are so obsolete now that you'll be able to run them easily anyways. If you're getting a DX10 card I would strongly urge to get Vista. You won't get a performance hit with that kind of machine, trust me. As far as 3rd party versions go I know someone was trying to develop one but I have never heard of them getting anywhere. Anyways my advice is go for an intel quad core processor if you got the cash to burn. Other than that everyone else's advice is great. Sound card wise though I would go with an X-Fi card, they're amazing or so I've heard.

I would just get the normal xbox, although price doesn't matter so may as well get the elite. Xbox live is a definite yes. Hmm.. top 10 games IMO: (in no order) - Bioshock - Gears of War - skate - Oblivion - Assassins creed (Coming soon) - Mass effect (coming soon) - CoD 4 (almost out) - Dead Rising Theres a lot of amazing games coming out in the next few months for the system.

Yeah its not really a straight forward tutorial. There is a lot of theory and stuff in it.
