  1. You could do with changing the wording, because some of them aren't correct. You shall not commit murder. This is because murder isn't murder without intent. Plus, you can't 'commit intent' - you have intent, not commit it. You shall treat your surroundings as you want to be treated. Saying "one shall treat its..." does not make sense. One is a person, its is an object. Each individual should complete their daily activities to the best of their ability. It does not make sense to say 'to the best of their extent'. Why surroundings? What if you need to chop down a tree? It's passers-by, not passer-bys. You use 'one' for rules at the start, and 'you' for rules at the end. I would use 'you' all the way through.
  2. You've definitely gone wrong somewhere anyway. Your connection is meant to be 768Kb/s UPLOAD not download. It will be meant to be ~3Mb/s download. The reason you can only download at 130Kb/s from some places is because plenty of places cap their upload speed. In addition to that, places have to deal with others downloading too, so you end up not getting their full upload capacity.
  3. KB/s is different to Kb/s. Your connection is 768Kb/s and you claim to be downloading at 130KB/s. ISPs sell their connections in bits per second, downloads show in bytes per second. Your speed test results show a totally different story.
  4. Pay for a faster line. It would be helpful if you specified what speed your line is supposed to be.
  5. I would indeed recommend a Macbook, simply because you say it's your mum. If your mum is the sort to need to consult someone else about what computer to get, it's probably best that she gets a Macbook. In my experience they're easier to use for those not acquainted to computing concepts (people who aren't already well-versed in the use of Windows) and it is harder to make things go wrong. They're good mum-computers. Though of course that's not all they're good for.
  6. I do that every other christmas without any problems. I've never had to flash the BIOS or anything other than install the new motherboard drivers.
  7. Yeah, no one should ever complain about anything that's wrong. That's the way to get things right.
  8. Unlimited Adventures is the only RPG maker I'll ever need. Oh nostalgia.
  9. If the OP meant client as in client-server then there's nothing to say they are running a commercial site, it could just be image hosting for friends, a personal page etc.
  10. Most ISPs usually have an option to pay for one. Other than that, check this out: http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/
  11. Wouldn't propagation of a radio message pose a problem? By the time it got there it would have been scattered such a huge amount that it would be unnoticeable.
  12. It was in the change pocket of my baggy jeans, she patted me down but evidently didn't notice it. I was very surprised.
  13. They're also good if you're just not sure how a certain thing works. I found that during the implementation of my degree project I relied a lot on my books. I would recommend the O'Reilly 'Cookbooks'.
  14. You'll need to do a project yourself to understand it properly, then you're forced to come up with original code as opposed to just pretending you understand someone else's work. What sort of project is hard to say, it depends on what you're interested in. I'm in the middle of writing a program that performs traceroutes on user entered hosts, analyses them and highlights congested links.
  15. I got searched whilst I was carrying a 3.5-inch lock knife. The policewoman didn't find it.

  17. On the subject of unfinished work: 15,000-20,000 word report on a program I haven't yet finished, in for next friday... Though I have done 8,000 so far.
  18. Get together with someone else to do it. I find that always helps me, not just with revision but going to the gym too - if you don't turn up then you're letting them down and vice versa.
  19. http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ Excellent utility, perfect for dealing with your problem. Doesn't require a restart either.
  20. Best thing in Sweden? Ghost rider.
  21. Or when the people they fence them to put them on they get cut like hell.

I'm headed to the 6th circle of hell. Hooray.
  23. The way I see it, and the way it is in so much of the developed world is: If you leave it outside, you can expect it to get nicked. Not nice, but true.
  24. Anyone with a mind of their own realises that you don't only have to like one sort of music. That you don't have to say you don't like something just because it doesn't fit in with your schema.
