Yeah, use a cannon. The only task you should need mage defense on is waterfiends, so don't worry about it too much. A cannon will get your ranged up very quickly while you slay.

They splash on miths because miths have high magic defense. The same goes for just about any monster you'd want to use such a spell on. If a boss ever comes out that's weak to both magic and melee, and melee is more effective on it for whatever reason, then it might be a little bit feasible to have someone use the defense-lowering spell. Seems like a very specific situation to hope for.

Miths have non-trivial magic defense. The only spell that's even a little effective is CoG. Otherwise you'd just be wasting a lot of money unnecessarily.

60 kills or less if you use one spec per kill. It would be an obscene waste of money, but I guess if you can make more than a SWH costs per hour through flipping or something, go for it.

He never said anything about dying. The OP's post is regarding whether or not RS has reached it's peak. in other words, now that RS has been updated so fiercely can the game continue to improve or will it stagnate or slowly decline.
