Not only are the programs checked by the military, they supply the uniforms, textbooks, etc. and even run the Area Inspections, which is like the final exam for the whole unit in every detail. And the instructors are all retired servicemen from that branch, probably an officer and chief/master sergeant. Chances are if there's a program, it's real, especially if it's a public school, government funded and all that. And I'm guessing that you would know if your school has a unit. Just by seeing them wearing their uniforms each week, but also because we open every school ceremony with a Color Guard. If you've never seen one, you probably don't have it. But like I said, there's the possibility of joining another school's unit.

Earlier in TF2 I got kicked right after getting a melee kill on the host. I don't know for sure if that's why, it doesn't give an explanation, but that's probably the stupidest I've ever been kicked for.

Well if you want the program requirements beyond self-discipline (which technically isn't necessary to enroll; one of the program goals is to instill it), for at least this Unit, you need to be able to participate in physical education, some stuff about good moral standings, and don't be a big troublemaker, basically. Maybe a minimum 2.0 GPA, but I don't know for sure. I'm assuming you're about 15-16, right? Junior? It would seem kind of weird to be starting JROTC as a senior, but there was a Junior in my NS1 class last year so I guess it's really no big deal. If there's not a program at your school, chances are there's one nearby, and you can apply for that one. The way it works here, a bus takes the Cadets from the other school(s) to ours for 1st period, then takes them back.

Sorry for the delay, I had to go pick up my dad. He tried to run 20 miles, made it to 16 I think and had to stop at the drug store and wait for me to get out there :lol: Yea, I'm in JROTC. Navy branch, 2nd year. We're currently at battalion status, but that's pretty shaky; next year we'll probably be a Company, but then again that's what they said last year. Ranked E3, but sometime in the next week or two (next time the air rifle commander cancels practice at the last second and I'm stuck at school *again*) I'm going to try for PO3. Sergeant, I think, for the other branches, or staff sergeant or something. Not too sure. Currently on the air rifle squad, mainly helping out the newbies, one of which I really only know as "newbie". I'm not as agood a shot as the veteran shooters, though; I shake like nobody's business. I have great raw talent- even with the shaking I shoot at least 80 in the prone position and usually 180-190 total out of all 3 positions, and I'm great with a real rifle-but have yet to break 200 because of it :| Last year's graduating class made Distinguished Unit their entire 4 years, which is pretty cool. Year 2's curriculum is Naval History, that's somewhat interesting. The rest of the time we're marching and such. Uniform inspections are Wednesdays and Thursdays, depending on when you have the class. So that's the basics of my battalion.

But why would they be able to access the internet? They only could if they were built with the parts to do so.

Truth be told, I don't do a whole lot of rule-breaking in school. And even if I did, I would do my utmost not to be caught ;) Though there may be hell to pay when I put the snippets of porn in library books like I've been planning since last June. Maybe.

Today I started a petiton to get the US government to change the ranks of General and Admiral to "Warboss". For some reason, a the teachers weren't very happy about it. No punishment, but one of them yelled at me.

While I agree that yes, being mugged by a black man can cause certain prejudices, that is something very different from bumping into a man on the street and causing Lincoln to live. One is an actual encounter that has some lasting effect on the person, and the other is just a chance meeting out of the blue. If it were disocvered that the human mind could be eaily manipulated, would I change my mind? ABout what, that we should be able to reprogram humans? Well, that's kind of the point of prison (though it doesn't usually work out), so sure. But with robots, we're the Creators. It's not really the same as beating your wife because one os caused by brute force and can be grudgingly taken, but the robot is perfectly fine with being below humans; I'm sure we've all seen/read I, Robot, the robots were perfectly fine as they were. I disagree with the concept of a class system, whatever species or robot it happens to be, so I'm with you there, but I still think that robots shouldn't be made sentient in the first place.

I bet they don't lag as badly as on the halo 3 map that's sandy with the shield doors and the big vehicle circuit and a flamethrower. :P

First off, that's not mind control. That's a random sequence of events leading to big change in time. Second off, that has nothing to do with reprogramming machines. We already reprogram machines if they're not working correctly. It's little different, and it's a process we already know how to do without conditioning them as the Russians did with dogs. Third off, we wouldn't know if it changes the world or not, or if it did for better or for worse. I don't think laws can be made on huge "what-if?" statements. And fourth off, if you're creating sentient robots in the first place, you're not doing it right.

Warrior, was it you that had that list of things that made cancer seem sentient? Like it knew that it was an abnormal growth or coordinated attacks on white blood cells or something? That's some creepy stuff right there.

It's not mind control. Robots pretty much are just machines, and machines can be reporogrammed.

I suppose we should set up some guidelines as to what this thread should be used for, so it doesn't end up with naother 8 pages of people trying to make it to the next page with certain people posting every other post. I recommend something like game suggestions, i.e. "I don't know if I should get [this] or [that] next, recommendations?" or something like it. Of course that wouldn't be all, but I do feel some rules should be set.

I've got all the 360 achievements except the 7 friends one now. Although I did have to farm the dustbowl and 10 sentry kills ones.

I would go on a Microsoft Murder rampage if they actually called them Xiis. But they're not. They're just calling them avatars. Hopefully we'll have the option of the old bladed menu. I mean, i just downloaded the Halo Wars theme , and it's awesome. Also, I payed 150 MS points for that thing.

I think if we actually did come across aliens and for whatever reason did not destroy them, they wouldn't exactly need us to give them "rights". It's not like they'd be colonizing our planet and living among us.

Maybe they'll take it as a sign that the new dashboard and avatars is a BAD idea.

I've seen dispensers in the 2fort courtyards get kukri'd by snipers on the opposing team's battlements. Just an explosions and "so-n-so macheted dispenser (other dude)". Just once, though. Skywalking also seems pretty popular in Dustbowl.
