  1. ^Yep, BuildAndShoot for the old (free) version (.75). Steam for the payed ($10) version (1.0). I'll consider getting the payed version in the future (maybe on a Steam sale), but only if I see they do some major changes to it (right now it's a little too fast-paced, hectic, and explosiony, and mining/building serves basically no purpose anymore). When I see stuff like this... I worry that those blank slots could be indicators of future DLC (is that the correct term?), in which case I'm totally uninterested.
  2. > no longer a MMORPG, now a MOBA. Interest in this game completely gone.
  3. Its been moved to "Skill & Data tables" in the info section. Here's a link :) I would never think to associate the "Info" section with "Skill & Data Tables" and then know that's where the XP tables are stored :x
  4. Wow, I didn't know anything about this 2x damage multiplier for staffs. I simply compared the bonuses of staffs vs. wands and immediately noticed the staff's were absolutely sucky in comparison, so I assumed they were worthless now. Now I'm definitely interested in a comparison. Man, I could've sworn when I compared them it had lower bonuses... I guess I somehow mixed it up with amulet of defence O_o I forgot about dungeoneering items too; I had no idea people trained with those haha.
  5. Exactly. Who thinks "hm, rather than taking pictures of my own stuff, I'll pray I can find the exact items via Google Image search?"
  6. I can't find it, was it on /r/runescape? EDIT: Found it (holy crap reddit's search never fails to impress me with how much it sucks):
  7. First class video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuTsuOLQJ2Y I'm conflicted; I love the idea of classes but I worry that they're borrowing too much from Team Fortress. Also, I'm very disappointed in what this video revealed. I had assumed Jagex was simply publishing the game, allowing the original creator to continue doing his thing, but it looks like they're putting their damned fingers all over it.
  8. Forgive me for sounding dim but I have to ask: why would healing be a problem with lessers but not against ghosts (especially the higher-leveled ones)? Is it because you can effectively range them from a safe spot without worrying about them retaliating? During my trials I didn't really notice losing much HP to Ghosts, but these were pretty quick trials so it's possible they do take their toll after time (take a few minutes and try for yourself haha!).
  9. Of these three, which would you say is the best to train on overall and why? For lessers/ghosts, which specific location(s) do you recommend? I almost wonder if, with Warped Bats, you could increase your xp/hr by using Ricochet (as the bats have low health, this may be able to knock some out or at least quicken the process). That could possibly bump those up to #1 or tie with the others. Given that you should never have to heal here that's another big plus. For Ghosts, I would use SoS (4th floor with Ankous). There are different leveled Ghosts, though, and I believe the higher leveled ones are the best to use (so, ignore the level 60s). I'm unsure if you would ever need to heal, maybe an inventory of food would do good enough to last you a long time. For Lessers, the resource dungeon. Given that you need to heal, I'm unsure how satisfactory these are. So I guess I'm indecisive, it's between those three but I'm unsure which is exactly the best because it's so close. Did Clan capes lose their stats? Yep :( Hopefully they fix that. Melee-weak monsters usually use ranged attacks. Won't the addition of Batwing boots to your set skew your effective defense modifiers and result in less ranged defense than before? Yep, that's the specific thing I was wondering about. So in that case it would be Carapace boots?
  10. So, I made a topic which touches on some things people have asked about (http://forum.tip.it/...s/#entry5331278 and http://forum.tip.it/...s/#entry5331746) This is what I came to: EDIT: See this topic for the most updated monsters and gear (the list below won't be updated and is out of date!): http://forum.tip.it/...s/#entry5331278 Results: Training The monsters for training should be: Melee: Deadly red spiders Ranged: Lessers/Ghosts/Warped Bats Magic: Nothing (high alch/superheat) Leave a comment if you find otherwise. ----- Commenting on weapons/armours: For all classes: Wear a team cape (it's the only cape that gives bonuses) and Explorer's Ring (only ring that gives a bonus). Melee: Apparently R2H is the best item*. Wear full Rune, charged Rune Gauntlets, Batwing Boots, Amulet of Power, and bring a shield if you plan to use Rejuvenate. Ranged: Magic shortbow. Wear full Blue D'hide (as your opponents are likely using magic if they're weak to ranged), or depending on the situation full Rune (especially if they are using ranged; full rune barely lowers your ranged Attack and boosts your Defence quite well), charged Rune Gauntlets, Batwing Boots, Amulet of Power, and bring a Magic Shieldbow if you plan to use Rejuvenate. Magic: Well, you probably shouldn't be training against monsters. But if you *do*: Bat Wand/Staff of Fire/Staff of Air depending on the route you go. Wear full Batwing (as your opponents are likely using melee if they're weak to magic), Amulet of Magic, and bring a Bat Shield if you plan to use Rejuvenate. *: I personally didn't research melee so feel free to correct if you find otherwise (I would have expected a crush weapon like Rune Warhammer, but I imagine the extra abilities of the R2H makes up for it). Remember the triangle is very important now; the armour you're used to wearing doesn't necessarily apply anymore. (If you spot an error above feel free to inform me as well, I was going off memory - I'd especially appreciate comments on the choices of gloves/boots.) ----- I saw no difference in the xp/hr with manual use of abilities vs. momentum, except for Lesser Demonds (odd). However, I've heard otherwise, so if you have a tip for using abilities please reply (I still probably wouldn't use it because that's a lot of clicking for training, but that's me personally and this is for public use and metagaming instead).
  11. It looks like Wiki users have already jumped on that: http://runescape.wik...eering/Monsters (At least, on that specific page they did; it looks like they forgot to edit the individual pages of monsters haha) ----- I've edited in info on training.
  12. From what I understand (using the combat triangle)... If your opponent is using magic, you should wear ranged armour. If your opponent is using ranged, you should wear melee armour. So... If your opponent is using melee, you should wear... magic armour? That doesn't seem right.
  13. As a name yes, as a person no. Honestly I can't even put a character/stats to that name. I know I know the name, and I think I remember him being very high ranked, but that's all I remember (very hazily). Didn't he have a 200m? (Like... Defence or something?)
  14. I would completely uninstall Java from your computer (Uninstall a program > remove any instances of "Java X Update X" and "Javaâ„¢ X update X", if you're like me you have several of these which can cause conflicts so it's useful to clean these up every so often so you don't run into issues like this down the road) And then reinstall the current version of Java from http://www.java.com. If you're using a 64-bit OS you'll want to make sure you're installing Java for your type of OS, take a look at this page which touches on this: http://www.java.com/...va_win64bit.xml
  15. Did someone already say... * Be the very first player of RuneScape * Ate/alched every item (especially rares)
  16. I largely feel like the list is complete :) I'm not seeing/thinking of anything else that could be added. There may be some monster data that needs to be edited though (e.g. specifying the location(s) of monsters that are repeated in the list and have different combat weaknesses/levels). As for training, this is what I've found: [spoiler=Some data] Ranged Here's what I got so far (79 ranged); unless otherwise specified all of these values are using momentum (I checked momentum vs. manual use of abilities to verify that momentum should be used over the manual method) and using Mithril arrows: Greater Demon: 29-30k xp/hr Hellhound: 29-30k xp/hr Lesser Demon: 29-30k xp/hr (24k xp/hr with momentum, weird huh?) Ghost: 28k xp/hr Warped bat: 28k xp/hr Deadly red spider: 26k xp/hr Flesh Crawer: 26k Catablepon: 24-25k xp/hr Hill Giant: 18k-20k xp/hr Giant spider: 17k xp/hr Not crazy-accurate values, just good enough for comparisons. Actual xp/hr would be lower for those stronger monsters as you would have to heal or eat/bank, so in reality Ghosts or Warped Bats are likely the best way to train as you don't have to heal (and possibly Lessers? I'm unsure how powerful they are). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Magic Did some magic (level 70 magic). Fire blast: Ice Warrior: 44-45k Ice Giant: 38-39k Air blast: Black guard: 26k Hill Giants: 23k Hobgoblin: 18k Like with ranged, these values were done pretty quickly so they aren't 100% accurate as far as XP/hr but instead done with the intention of simply ranking and comparing to the other methods. Alching and superheating are definitely (unfortunately) still the way to go with magic. It might be useful to try something like Ankous with Earth blast but I imagine that'll still be quite expensive for lower amounts of xp/hr. Also, no more Crumble Undead :( ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Melee I've been told Deadly red spiders are best for melee (with a r2h). Results The monsters for training should be: Melee: Deadly red spiders Ranged: Lessers/Ghosts/Warped Bats Magic: Nothing (high alch/superheat) Leave a comment if you find otherwise.
  17. What's your beef with Cowman? You just go on and milk that joke.
  18. Pitch Please use this topic as a resource for your combat training (and please continue to contribute in the event of future RuneScape updates on combat - see the end of the OP for instructions on contributing). [spoiler=Original Pitch]I'm hoping this data can be useful for wikis, fansites, and F2P players by allowing us to better find the best monsters to train on for each combat method. I then plan to use this data to better pinpoint the best training method for each of the three combats. EDIT: Thanks everyone, both of the goals for this topic are complete! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Results: Training Melee: Deadly Red Spiders Gear: Rune 2h sword or Gravite 2h sword, full Rune armour, charged Rune Gauntlets, Carapace Boots, Amulet of Strength, Team Cape, Explorer's Ring. For Rejuvinate: Rune Scimitar and Rune Shield. Ranged: Lesser Demons / Warped Bats / Ghosts Gear: Magic Shortbow, Arrows of choice, full Blue D'hide armour (or full Batwing armour for Ghosts), Carapace Boots (or Batwing Boots for Ghosts), Amulet of Power, Team Cape, Explorer's Ring. For Rejuvinate: Magic Shieldbow. Magic: Fire Blast on Ice Warriors (preferred method: High Alchemy or Superheat) Bat Wand or Tower Mindspike or Gravite Staff (depending on your choice of spending), Bat Book (if using Bat Wand), full Batwing armour, Amulet of Magic (or Arcane Blast Necklace), Team Cape, Explorer's Ring. For Rejuvinate: Bat Shield. Please leave a comment if you find better methods. 19. I'm attempting to find the best monster to train on in F2P for ranged. I'm specifically looking for those weak to arrows (Catablepons, for example, are only weak to bolts). So far all I've found is Wizards, but you can't effectively train on those because of low/slow spawns. ---------- General question: What criteria is used to find efficient monsters now? Should I seek out the highest leveled monsters? It appears the best method of training now is finding monsters that are weak to the type of combat you're using (if this isn't truly the case, feel free to give me tips otherwise). ----- I'm also currently compiling a list of monsters and their weaknesses, visit here if you'd like to contribute. ---------- EDIT: I've answered my own question through some research, the answer is: Greater Demon: 29-30k xp/hr Hellhound: 29-30k xp/hr Lesser Demon: 29-30k xp/hr (24k xp/hr with momentum, weird huh?) Ghost: 28k xp/hr Warped bat: 28k xp/hr Deadly red spider: 26k xp/hr Flesh Crawer: 26k Catablepon: 24-25k xp/hr Hill Giant: 18k-20k xp/hr Giant spider: 17k xp/hr (not crazy-accurate, just good enough for comparisons; some of those stronger monsters won't actually be those values as you may have to bank/rejuvenate often [for example, I originally had deadly red spiders as 40k but when training on them I found they were actually 26k because of so much interruption)
  20. http://runescape.wik...bat#New_content
  21. ^ Nobody has been able to find it, it's safe to assume it wasn't included.
  22. I'm training ranged right now and trying to figure that out as well. It looks like F2P'ers will have to search around to find what the best new monsters are for melee, ranged, and magic (I'm assuming this is based on what monsters have weaknesses to those things). Protip: From my samples, Momentum gives you the same or greater xp/hr, so don't bother spamming abilities if you're just training.
  23. My Microsoft Excel found a mistake right there: Tried the first idea but didn't work too... :( My Microsoft Excel found a mistake right there: You probably don't have a Q34? (letter = column, number = row of relevant item; highly doubtful Gameos doesn't know this otherwise I'd love to know how he was managing without the knowledge O_o)
  24. Yep. It can also be switched to the other set via right click. But only the cape is f2p?
