  1. Have you or have you not met him in person? This is a major factor in my rapist detector. This really is likely being caused by your mother's death. I've met people whose parents died when they were that age, and it's some of the saddest stuff in the world. They carry the world on their shoulders, they grow up too fast. They don't take care of enjoying life. I know it sucks to be told this, but have you ever talked to a psychologist about your mother's death? That's a very troubling ordeal, and at that age... You should really just find someone to talk to, even if it's just a friend. It helps a lot.
  2. You have to have two years of foreign language in Texas to even graduate high school. Or is it one...

Well, if the government's as powerful as that guy believes, he could be killed and nobody would ever know. But it makes the government look stronger. So they couldn't give a flying [bleep].
  4. Taking away the stupid tests and the curriculum the teachers have to cover. We spend a day skimming over a lesson in each class, get some homework, and prepare for state testing. I'M TIRED OF THAT [cabbage]. If we want to cover something else, let us. I'm tired of that. It isn't education. Education is learning the ideas of the past, and finding new ideas to pass onto the future. The past 30 years have been cultural stagnation. We need to preserve the past, but press on willingly into the strangeness of the future. AND I WANT MORE VARIETY WITH MY GOSH-DAMNED CUSS WORDS
  5. Where can I find the demo for Xbox 360? AAAAUGH.
  6. I believe Che Guevara sums it up nicely on that points for me: "Maybe one day, some miner will joyfully take up his pick and go and poison his lungs with a smile. They say that's what it's like over there, where the red blaze dazzling the world comes from. So they say. I don't know." Kinda out of date due to the reference to the USSR, but his skepticism of someone ever happily doing menial, mundane, and difficult tasks for no real reward is something I share.
  7. So super-fast, but human-strengthed zombie survival? Looks cool.
  8. Those igloo folk get angry.
  9. Nope, I hail from Texas. Yeap. And there really isn't that much craziness surrounding all that.
  10. That's like saying "Other than seeing all of Northern and Western Canada, that nation does not appeal to me."
  11. If Tech loses this game, it's going to suck BAWLS.
  12. Well, if one person is poor in Communism, everyone is. Which means a communist nation has to have some serious wealth and power, or a tiny population (preferably both). Barbarism counts as an economic system, right? Well, there one section is poor. Mercantilism ... Iffy, but yes. Now, if you have a utopia of any system, nobody would be poor, everyone would be happy, and everyone would be equals. Life don't work like that.
  13. Son of a [bleep]. That was actually the name I was going t change mine to when I turned 17. Only mine included the Green Lantern. Oh, and replace fantastic with awesome. Fantastic is kinda gay.
  14. That was a nice post by Reb. He's saying that just because you follow a religion doesn't make you stupid.
  15. I'm pretty sure just about the entire Eastern Bloc was considered USSR. And actually, Russia is visited. A lot. The Cold War paranoia was actually over when the whole thing ended, believe it or not. Apart from nutcases or stereotypes, people just consider Russia another country here in the US.
  16. It's not the part that it's alcohol that he rejects, it's the part that dips into a major American food source that he does. Too bad hydrogen cars are still way too expensive, Hyundai (is that the one?) makes one that looks like a usual car. Desalination techniques might need to be fixed a bit, though.
  17. I know, it hasn't worked at all. Listen, despite its problems, it's really the best we got in our current situation.
  18. You'd be surprised how much can be used instead of diesel or petroleum. The best I've seen so far is algae, being studied by folk in Arizona. They don't have enough funding, though.
  19. He's a nerd from Hawaii. How much can he screw it up?
  20. I don't get the chloroform.
  21. I still don't think it makes sense. Call me a romantic, but I don't think that A) An organism (or even cell) just sprung up out of nothing, and B) That we humans just one day were drinking from a pond and actually saw ourselves. I think something else - I call Him God - had a hand in it.
  22. I don't understand how the first organism just became. What did it evolve out of? And since we've all divided from that one cell, wouldn't that literally make every single person and living thing on the planet, well, the same?
  23. I don't understand how you will "do it". And if you've never met him, and intend to fly him out for that purpose, Reb's rapist alert will be at its highest level.
  24. Obama's up quite a bit, but it is the East Coast. Plus, almost no states were completely dominated by either candidate. This'll be a close'un.
