  1. some choose to be enslaved. the rest are shunned by society.
  2. Ok, I never said anything about abolishing schools, in fact, I never gave any sort of plan to fix the problem, I was just ranting. I would be more in favor of like reforming the school systems, i dunno, it would take a lot of thought and time to come to a really good solution. That is a job for someone else. And if YOU don't think this topic is interesting, no one is forcing you to read it...
  3. allright, I really didn't expect this thread to get so huge. I wrote it when I just kinda pissed off and had to get some stuff out. And I was kinda bored. I know there are some positives to high school, but I think that a majority of the people who walk through those buildings need to think a little bit about what they are doing... perhaps it could be better explained through a song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taLI6z2CuzM Gone, by Jack Johnson, from the album On and On. Lyrics: Look at all those fancy clothes but these could keep us warm just like those but what about your soul is it cold? Is it straight from the mold and ready to be sold? And cars and phones and diamond rings, those are only removable things and what about your mind does it shine? or are there things that concern you more than your time? gone, going, gone everthing, gone, give a damn. gone be the birds when they don't want to sing gone people, all awkward with their things, gone. Look at you out to make a deal you try to be appealing but you lose your appeal and what about those shoes your in today they'll do you no good on the bridges you've burnt along the way. you were willing to sell anything gone with your hurt leave your footprints, we'll shame them with our words gone people, all careless and consumed, gone. gone, going, gone everything, gone, give a damn gone be the birds if they don't wanna sing gone people, all awkward with their things, gone.
  4. Ya, see it is not that I am above average and the teachers are holding me back. Sure I get like As and Bs, but I'm not brilliant. All I'm saying is that teachers should teach the subject, not irrelevant crap like moles about mols.
  5. :  :XD: :XD:  : wow, you guys aren't getting this at all, and have to resort to name-calling. I am all for letting people be who they want to be. But why would one want to be this so-called 'goth'. Maybe they want to be friends with other 'goths'. What would happen if you didn't worry about being goth? Wouldn't it make more since to be what you are not what you want to be? Unfortunatly that is not accepted in high school communities. I am all for letting people be who they want to be. Are you guys beginning to understand?
  6. Very true. And it is a way to increase conformity of mainstream christianity, particularly in America. Not to mention everyone being all happy and cheeful all the time. It pisses me off. I don't want everyone to be all angry all the time either, but really, its just kinda too much. "I know nobody likes me, why do we need a holiday season to emphasize it?" -Charlie Brown. How do you think Christmas makes all the loners, athestis, jews, forein religious people feel?
  7. neither. It'd be better not to give nor receive.
  8. If a teacher fails to come up with a good leson plan, then they should be honest with the class, and say 'I don't have a lesson for you today, so we will have a free block today'. That way, the teacher can work on a decent lesson plan for next time, and students get a chance to catch up on their work. See how great honesty is? You have no idea how hard it is to be a teacher do you. I'm taking a class in high school where i am the small teacher basically. I do the chores, i help students, i even have tought some lessons. Ive done everything a teacher does in the classroom. I have to actually make a detailed lesson up for part of my ending class, and this is close to what a real teacher's lesson plan has to look like. Half the other students were groaning along with me when we saw the example, its like and essay. Does a teacher want to write an essay every single day just to teacher their kids? No. Sometimes its easier to come up with lesson plans on the go, and maybe your teacher made the lesson because they planing to use this in someway. Edit: I decided to actually post something relating to the original post. School does not suck. Through your prosective, you have only seen negatives, when there are many positives. You get to learn stuff that will help you later in life, you get to hang with friends and see them, you meet new people. This thing about people being in groups... well its a need. Sure its a very high need, but being accepted into a group is part of esteem needs, and if everyone has the below needs, its fine if they try to meet their esteem needs. Think about it. Everyone hangs out with a group. I bet you do. You and your friends? I bet you don't realize it, but your a group. It does not have to be a physical one where you change your cloths, but you are in one. Concerning teachers: Basically all i'm saying is that people have jobs to do, so do them, don't whine about how hard it is, just get the job done and don't make us the students have to suffer through busywork to make up for your mistakes. I understand that sometimes teachers don't get their lesson plans done on time. It is a mistake, all of us make mistakes. What ticks me off is when they are not honest about it! I'll give you a rebuttal on your socail arguments later tonight.
  9. http://www.urbandead.com Its takes a little getting used to, and getting your first levelup is kinda tough, but once you've played it for a while, it gets really fun. And it is not addicting at all, but still really fun.
  10. I own no dog or pet. You keep something as a pet, it will eventually die. So its best just not to have one in the first place.
  11. I don't agree with that though. Just 'going with the flow' and looking like a carbon copy of the next guy is even more dull than wearing 'genre-specific clothes'. There's no problem with looking individual, try going to a school that requires uniforms for students? I've never experienced that but I can imagine how boring it is. Yeah, just wear what you want to be honest. I don't really care if you wear "whats cool" or whatever will get you to fit in, or if you wear something because you like how it looks / how it feels with it on / whatever. Just wear clothes. Please. There we go, someone who gets what I'm saying! thank you!
  12. I don't agree with that though. Just 'going with the flow' and looking like a carbon copy of the next guy is even more dull than wearing 'genre-specific clothes'. There's no problem with looking individual, try going to a school that requires uniforms for students? I've never experienced that but I can imagine how boring it is. ok, maybe I shouldn't have used the term 'going with the flow'. I meant it more as like 'be accepting of whatever happens to you' than like conforming to social groups.
  13. If a teacher fails to come up with a good leson plan, then they should be honest with the class, and say 'I don't have a lesson for you today, so we will have a free block today'. 14. You didn't even read it did you? I do ignore them, but more can be done. Why not try to change them? That is like saying 'if you have a problem with Bush or America, you can just leave!'. No, you don't leave, you fight, and that is what i'm doing. I'm fighting against the system of social conformity and hoping others will join my cause. I think people would be a lot happier. Listen to what I have to say. I can't believe I'm responding to your arrogance, but I'm going to anyway. 1. I did read EVERY SINGLE THING you wrote. 2. I am what you might call a "goth" or "emo". Sure, I don't believe in labels, but that's what everybody believes. 3. What everybody believes, however, is CRAP. The thing to do is IGNORE them, not say, "Oh, everything they say is right, and all I can do is mope around and complain to everyone." If you're mad at people, then stand up for yourself. 4. School is one of the most important things in the world. Don't hate it for such a juvenile reason. See? I bolded the important things so even you can understand! 1. I posted this at 9:34 pm. You responded at 9:36 pm. There are 565 words in my little essay thing. That means you would have had to have been reading at 4.7 words per second, not including the time it took to post your responce. hmmmm... 2. you contradict yourself in the same point. you claim to be a 'goth' and 'emo', yet next you say you don't believe in labels. hmmmmm.... 3. I don't understand this point. 4. A juvenile reason for hating school would be something like 'its too hard', or 'I don't like working'. I thought my ideals for not liking school were rather unorthodox... Also, yes school is important, I'm not proposing like abolishing it, I'm saying people need to learn to just be themselves.
  15. I agreed with everything up to there. What gives you the [censore]ing right to judge people just by the way they look? We get pissed because jerks like you judge people in that way. SHAME ON YOU :notalk: :notalk: =; ...ok you aren't understanding me. I'm not judging you by how you look. I'm saying that one should not worry about how one looks. One should just go with the flow. Why go through all the effort to make yourself look all cool just so others might like you?
  16. You didn't even read it did you? I do ignore them, but more can be done. Why not try to change them? That is like saying 'if you have a problem with Bush or America, you can just leave!'. 17. -Luke 6:37 I'm such a bad person... lol nah its cool, I'm not even a christian, I just like that passage.
  18. My rant on school: (I edited some of this so that I wouldn't come off as arrogant and mean, and so that people can get a better understanding of what I'm talking about) First off, lemmie say that my school isn't nearly as bad as most others are. Sorry if some of this stuff may sound kind of boring as you read it, but if you read the whole thing, you will understand the idea and point of this much more clearly. Let me start off with an example. In my cafeteria, we have round tables. So tables start and some get really full eventually. It really ticks me off to see people eat their food in their freaking lap while trying to squeeze into the 'cool kids table'. Is it really so hard to sit by yourself? I don't find it that bad, sometimes some actual friends come and sit with me, not people who only care about being better than everyone else. moving on. Lets see, how about...dating. Basically high school dating is used as a method of climbing the social ladder. People get girlfriends for 1 of 2 reasons: 1. they hope to have some form of sex with her, or 2. they hope that other people will think that one is 'cooler' now that he has a girlfriend. I've gotten so pissed that I don't even want a freaking girlfriend anymore, they are all the same, its not like anyone would date me anyway. Aparantly being vice president of the chess club because you enjoy playing chess and taking on a leadership role automatically makes you incapable of any dating whatsoever. I'm not even gonna start on high school dances, theres another thread for that. What else...oh of cource. Teachers. Some teachers can be complete [developmentally delayed]s. I'm not saying I'm smarter than them. I am not really the brightest kid in the school. It is the way they teach that makes them [developmentally delayed]s. For example. In Chemistry, we were learning about moles (a sort-of conversion factor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mole_%28unit%29). What better way to learn about moles than to....make a stuffed animal mole! wow, and we can take up a whole class period presenting our moles, with stories we make up about the life of our mole. Oh, and each mole must have a theme of cource, because students love being creative... Ya, that project was worth 50 points. Our last test was worth 70 points. Pretty much everone is guitly. No one can say they have never been guity of these kinds of things. I used to go through this sort of phase too, but now I realize how [developmentally delayed]ed I was. Athletes, you are no better than anyone else just because you have the physical ability to beat them or look better than them. Nerds, do not try to become more 'nerdy' on purpose. If you want to come to chess club, come becasue you like playing chess, not to stink up the place. Goths/Emos/Punks, just stop. really. No one is gonna think any different of you by the clothes you have on. Girls, don't let your emotions rule you, just because you think it is the girl thing to do. If you are attracted to a guy you know is a complete jerk, don't go out with him. and I almost forgot, Teachers, you people are just as bad as some students. If you are going to teach, teach. Don't make us sit through crap and busywork that we don't need to learn at all. Basically, school sucks.
  19. thats , just stop having the mindset of having to be in a 'group' to have friends. There are two possible outcomes: you will either get some really great friends, or have none at all. But regardless of the outcome, you will still be free of conformity and you will be a much happier person. step one: shut down your myspace.

wow that teacher sounds so awesome. Best thing I've heard all day.
  21. I wanna work for Nasa in some form. Preferably like in that room that moniters the space shuttles and International Space Station. If you've seen Apollo 13, you know what I'm talking about. I wanna be one of those guys. if not, then I suppose some sort of teacher, either college or high school. subject would be either physics/math type stuff, or maybe English or History.
  22. ...you are thinking of him as a being, not as an entity. Try thinking of god as if he himself was life and nature, rather than controling them. Things make a lot more since.
  23. I (the one who, unfortunatly, brought this whole thing up), was more refering to a specific person that I'm interested in...but then if things don't work out there (which they probably won't), I would like some sort of companion anyway. The next two years of school are going to be *extremely* difficult, and I would really like to have someone to talk to during them. Though I really doubt anything is gonna happen. People don't seem to like me for some reason. Except for like 1 or 2 friends.
