  1. there is no inherent meaning. You make one.
  2. so, it looks like no one else has heard about 'Firefly'. It is really one of those hidden gems out there. I think it may be one of the best television shows ever made, and by far the best cancelled show ever made. here is a fan made series trailer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=w9vqD97xUlQ and wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefly_%28TV_series%29
  3. I find it amusing how those people that can't handle such a serious topic just diss the original poster to make themselves feel better... here is something very interesting from the book 'The Chosen' by Chaim Potok "Human beings do not live forever. We live less than the time it takes to blink an eye, if we measure our lives against eternity. So it may be asked what value is there to a human life. There is so much pain in the world. What does it mean to have to suffer so much if our lives are nothing more than the blink of an eye?...I learned a long time ago that a blink of an eye in itself is nothing. But the eye that blinks, that is something. A span of life is nothing. But the man who lives that span, he is something. He can fill that tiny span with meaning, so its quality is immeasurable though its quantity may be insignificant. Do you understand what I am saying? A man must fill his life with meaning, meaning is not automatically given to life. It is hard work to fill one's life with meaning. That I do not think you understand yet. A life filled with meaning is worthy of rest. I want to be worthy of rest when I am no longer here..."
  4. Firefly Lost Heroes South Park Daily Show Colbert Report Numb3rs Conan O'Brien :D
  5. personally, I'm hetrosexual, but not really that thrilled about the whole idea of sex anyway. So I could be labeled asexual. I think that homosexuality doesn't really exist. A lot of people say they are homosexual, but I bet it is because of their want to be different, not because they have to. I think people can choose to go back to heterosexuality.
  6. I'd recomend reading about Taoism and Hinduism. Very interesting stuff in my opinion.
  7. at http://www.ultimate-guitar.com you can filter out your results to show only those that give you just chords, but like was mentioned earlier, it is better to just use the tab and figure out the chords, and a lot of tabs even have the chords written alongside them.
  8. I don't think I'm one to judge what is the worst, seeing as I haven't heard or seen everything there is to see out there. But as for bests: best music: 3. Greg Graffin/Bad Relgion 2. Jack Johnson 1. Bob Marley best movies: 5. Lord of the Rings trilogy 4. V for Vendetta 3. Matrix Trilogy 2. Good Will Hunting 1. Forrest Gump ...and star wars, but that goes without saying.
  9. iTunes or CD player. Yes I use iTunes and don't have an iPod. Sue me.
  10. super mario world is really great, a friend of mine really likes it. It is definitly one of the best mario games out there, and I would certainly recomend it.
  11. by far the best musician of all time in my opinion. Bob Marley rules. happy birthday Bob Marley!
  12. just don't piss anyone off or act like an r-tard, and you will be fine.
  13. I got a widescreen TV and it still didn't play widescreen movies in full screen, it was kinda stupid. I took it back and got a nice cheap fullscreen TV. I definitly prefer fullscrene over the black bars.
  14. No. That is stupid, you're just asking to become a social reject. I keep my use of these kind of forums a secret, I thought pretty much everyone did....
  15. is anyone ever going to explain this????
  16. No way, why would she kill off Hagrid? Its kinda pointless. Nothing would really be gained by his death. It wouldn't really fit in to the novels that well I think, unless he became a more important character all of the sudden or something.
  17. you are probably changing sleeping paterns or something. I'd just give it time, and go to bed a consistant time each night, and eventually it should get easier.
  18. Why? why what? I said like 3 different things in that post lol...which one?
  19. first, tell the girl about how you're feelign before you go so you don't end up like me :wall: , and as for the rest, you can probably keep in touch with them for a while, but friends will come and go throughout all life, so I wouldn't worry about it too much, you will find new people just like them.
  20. Its not that I can't get a girlfriend, it is just I haven't met anyone recently that I would want to really go out with, but I know that if I don't get one soon, I might not ever get one. I have been told I probably could get one though, it just doesn't seem to be happening.
  21. "Fair" doesn't exist in real life. "Fair" is something in kindergarden when everybody gets an equal slice of the cake to prevent whining. In real life, some people are already born with a whole cake while others only have the cherry so to speak. Why isn't everybody a musical genius, a master football player or a millionaire? Because, life isn't "fair". ...you can't just diss me off with 'life isn't fair' crap. Sure maybe it isn't, but it should be. That is what I'm complaining about. on a more positive note: I really like what some of you guys had to say in this thread. thanks.
  22. I don't really believe in god either, but my question is: if god didn't create us, what did? how did we get here? So, I label whatever our 'creator' may be, by 'God'.
  23. The thing I can't comprehend is this: Why did God [or whatever created us] make us so flawed? There are two particular aspects of us as humans that really get me depressed every now and then, and I just can't seem to find any answers. The first deals with inteligence. I know plently of people that act crazy/immature and such all the time and hardly study at all, but they end up getting the best test scores, and the most friends, etc. Why should inteligence be hereditary? Shouldn't we all be equal in inteligence, and whoever tries the hardest is the 'smartest'? It just doesn't seem fair. The next is relationships. I just hate the whole idea of masculinity and femininity (if thats a word :P). I just hate how it is like the big macho guys who act like tards are the ones that the girls are the most attracted to. Why aren't girls attracted to guys who work hard and are respectful? And sure they may be some instances where a girl goes out with a 'nice guy', but if weighed against the jerk-macho kind of guy, I think it is instinctive that the girl will go for the more masculine guy. I think both genders should try to go for a more neutral or 'middle-way' stance on the whole masculine-feminine thing. But no....thats not the way we humans work. Also, on a sort of related note, I am curious on what people think about fate and free-will, cause I got no idea about that right now.
  24. Even though it was a children's book from the beginning, I think it's become a bit too serious and dark for that kind of happy ending, tbh. That would not be a happy ending at all! Snape redeems himself and then DIES. That is pretty depressing in my opinion. Snape turns out to be a good guy and harry gets to live...? seems pretty happy to me. You guys need to read A Tale of Two Cities. Snape really reminds me of a character in that story, and then you guys will see why it would be so sad.
