I'm in a hard rock / metal band, though we're only doing covers for the school talent shows ATM. A couple months ago we covered Animate, by Rush, and for the next one we're doing Over The Hills and Far Away by Nightwish. We have yet to find a permanent singer though - we didn't have one until two weeks before the last performance, and while he was alright, it was unspectacular. So, interestingly enough, to try to sing Tarja Turunen's part in Over The Hills we got the drummer's little sister, who is only eleven or something. It's gonna be sweet - she's an awesome singer. Should be fun.
  2. Each stage has five levels. It'd be an interesting experience to replay the first forty episodes with the DS controls... I'd probably be screwed over from the start.
  3. Yes, I know I've recommended them before, don't even tell me. But Range This, you liked The Mars Volta's concept album, so I'm going to recommend you sit down with nothing but the CD Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory by Dream Theater, the liner notes to said album, and an hour and eighteen minutes to spare. It's the best thing that's ever happened to me musically. Fantastic musicianship, smooth transitions from light to heavy and back again, and a fantastic story to boot. The album tells the story of Victoria and the brothers Edward and Julian Baynes (the Miracle and the Sleeper, respectively) as seen through the eyes of Nicholas, a man who sees Victoria in a dream and uses hypnotherapy to relive the untold story of her murder. Fantastic work in every possible way.
  4. Essentially. Preferably a lot more added, but hey, your choice of how much work you want to put into it. It's a sweet project either way. Whoops, Intriguing, forgot about that. Hmm...
  5. There are only 39 DS stages? That kinda sucks =p. Are they the same as the PC ones? I hope not. I still want to play the DS version though. Oh yeah, anyone who plays the PC version, check out some of my userlevels on NUMA. I just posted one that I really like a couple days ago.
  6. D&D Insider looks pretty sick. It will have really good, professional mapping programs, 15$ a year or something I think. Plus you get all kinds of other stuff too. But still - 3.5E all the way. I mean, honestly - they trashed wizards. Wizards were my favourite class =( and there's no more bard!! I mean, WTF?
  7. Write an article on the band. Good stuff to include is band members and a short bio, and a discography with a paragraph or two about each album. Take a look at the archive. I'm going to try to find a non-mauled version of my Rush one soon, too. Damn that rollback.
  8. They're trying to set up a fourth-edition D&D game. Count me out, guys, I'm a firm believer in 3.5E, I looked through the 4E core rulebooks and it drove me crazy with some of the changes they made. Besides, I've sunk too much money into 3.5 to switch now. Hehehe. Don't worry, you still have a couple days more of slacking, I still need to catch up with what's been going on in this place.
  9. Heh, Ragen, apologies, but I'm calling dibs on Dream Theater right now. Just picked up Metropolis Part II: Scenes From A Memory, and it's the absolute best thing of all time. Watch for an article from me within a couple of weeks.
  10. Hey, Sib, check out the Champion Your Band sticky at the top of the page. You should do one. It needs a bit more traffic, and it seems like you know enough about these guys to make it worth our while to read. =P
  11. Kalphite, you liked Rush, right? I'm going to suggest a band you've likely heard of, but if you haven't... You have to. Have a listen at . My new second favourite band - I just bought Metropolis Part II: Scenes From A Memory, and it's my new favourite thing ever. It's 77 minutes of all one song. I love it. Oh yeah, Intriguing - just picked up Colors, by Between the Buried and Me. The singing doesn't do much for me, but the music makes up for it - it's one of my new favourites. Thanks =P
  12. Now I wish I had a DS. I'm gonna end up stealing someone's... I wanna see it.
  13. Hey guys, just back from camp. Frickin' AWESOME, I miss it already, but it is nice to be on the way home. At the moment I'm in Staples while my brother shops for school supplies, so I can't say too too much, but I missed you all lots and I'll be on with a little more intensity late tonight, catching up on what's been happening 'round TIF.
  14. I'm working on 87 right now. I've beaten up to the 4, but didn't have enough time to beat it. Sucks 'cause it was a pretty easy level too. But either way, one more episode to Mother Thumpin' Impossible, which is supposed to be the hardest level in the game. Can't wait =P
  15. Odie's male? 0.0 Always thought he was a she. Anyways... the sig. The one man you've detailed looks really good, if the others continue in that style they'll be pretty much done. The background needs something... it can't be left a blank window, and I know you're probably planning on getting to it, so I'll just make a few suggestions. A cityscape could be cool. Have the men in a top tower of a castle, looking over a sprawling city. A garden, like a POH one. Fountains, trees, hedges and all. It'd be hard to fit much detail into that small window, but it'd be cool. And the meow above the cat's head should go too. =P
  16. Unspectacular. No work went into them at all, so how can you expect proper criticism? If you put effort in, we could tell you how to make it better. But this is just bad without room for improvement.
  17. Played alto sax for two years back in grade six and seven band. The interesting thing is, as this topic comes up, I've just recently decided to start playing again. My band is playing 'It's Still Rock and Roll to Me' by Billy Joel at the next talent show, and since I played for a while, I get to do the sax solo. Nobody at my school gets to know about it - the sax is just gonna be onstage and nobody's going to know who's going to play it, so when I get up and drop my guitar and pick it up everyone's going to go  It's going to be SO much fun.
  18. @Mati: That's the point of membership. Jagex update membership above F2P because the people who use P2P are the ones paying their wages. If you started updating F2P as much as you updated P2P, there'd be no need for P2P any more and their profit margin would go down the toilet. Jagex will never and should never update F2P - it's meant as a free trial, nothing more. And please stop posting in that horrid colour =P
  19. Aha. We're opposites. I play guitar and air drums. We should make a band =P I'm trying to learn to play bass as well - my friend leaves his bass at my house (since that's where we practice) and I took his bass into my room and screwed around with a few simple little exercises I found on the Ultimate Guitar forums. It was sweet.
  20. That's exactly his point. This is the most decidedly stupid debate I have ever seen in this forum =P
  21. Hey, trying to guess what the company is thinking is one of the ideas that almost always leads to a good debate.
  22. You need 85 for Dream Mentor. Abbydog- contributions to the debate are fun. Useless posts are not. I think Jagex absolutely should release a high-level quest like this. It would have to be VERY long, VERY in-depth (preferably adding to another storyline) and have relatively high skill requirements (eg. something over 70, a few others over 60, preferably higher). It would give the quest cape a little bit of value. However, this isn't to say they should focus just on that for the difficulty. I'd love something with those reqs that ended up taking hours and hours not because of repetition (ME2 anyone?) but because they required thought and couldn't be guided. It'd be hard, but I think Jagex would really please a lot of people with this.
  23. They had been working on the graphical update for "almost a year". Ah, okay. Well, then, I suppose it's possible... But I still think that the graphical update was something they had been wanting to do for a long time, but was something they had never been able to do before due to Java limitations. I still don't think it was an appeasement update.
  24. Well, if he's only your friend on XBL, then there's a problem. If he's a real-life acquaintance, just go talk to him. Make sure you don't even bring up the subject unless he does - sometimes it just screws people up. Pretend everything's normal, but make sure you're watching out for signs of bad emotion coming up, and just... be comforting. Talk to him about stuff that means something to him, and just be generally positive. I'm not sure there's much else you can do, though a psychiatrist is recommended as well. Good luck...
  25. Definitely men. Their name isn't man. I'm sure they all have regular names as well, we just aren't interested in knowing them. Honestly, this is a pretty random topic with very little discussion value =P
