  1. Maybe it's not necessarily fun, but you'll note that's not the word I used. I said 'enjoy'. And all those things that you said? Those are all many and varied ways to enjoy the game. Nobody who doesn't enjoy some aspect of RS will play the game for much longer. That being said, many people don't enjoy it all the time. I do, but that's just me - I've got a lot of friends and rarely even get any real work done ingame. However, there are people who play for the feeling they get with achieving a goal - whether it be all 99s or just getting your first 50. Everyone likes that feeling, and it must be one of the biggest attractions RS has. The recognition you get from other players when you achieve such a goal is also a motivator to keep playing that only comes along once in a while. You can enjoy aspects of the game without having fun every minute.
  2. haha. That's what I love about it, Putter - I've beaten 430 levels now, and counting. Almost to the last column =) It's still fun. And even frickin' harder than ever. Solidus, what's I Wanna Be The Guy?
  3. hehe. I'm only thirteen episodes away from having the game beaten, but I've gotten back into RS and I haven't played in a while. It's frickin' hard even in the middle of the eighties column.

Yeah, especially during the prelude to the big race there. That was terribly slow. I'm really glad it's picking up again... I can't wait for this confrontation.

Great. I'm pretty sure it will just be some kind of stomach bug, because as people have said, you've got all the symptoms. You're already doing the most important thing - going to see a doctor. There's no way there's going to be anything you can really do besides that. Although, you know, going outside would help. If it's a sunny day out, don't spend time inside. Go hang out at the park. Get a game of soccer going. Just sit outside with a good (non-horror) book for a while. It always helps me feel better. And I mean always.
  6. Ahh... Gibson Les Paul... I love those guitars. So beautiful... but not really a beginner guitar. They're really expensive. But ehy are so worth it... and beautiful. They sound so nice. The Gibson ES series are pretty good too. They sound niice, and a little more screamy (closer to the tone of a Strat) than a Les Paul does. You can tell I like Gibson, can't you?
  7. Some of you may have heard of the game N. It's much a cult game, but it's extremely addictive and difficult, and with 500 levels (and more available from their user-made levels archive) it won't be a game you'll beat in ten seconds. This is a game for the gamers. Yes, it's written in Flash. The idea of N is that you are a ninja. It's a simple platform game, in which you have to get the exit key and then get to the exit. Sound simple? It is. Until you get past the first few levels. After that, you start to see enemies, different objects, locked doors, trap doors and more. The game becomes one of the most difficult you'll play for a long time once you get into the higher episodes. The game is made up of one hundred episodes. An episode contains five levels. The episodes are arranged in columns of ten. Once you beat an episode, you unlock the next in the column. You can start at the top of any column, but it's highly suggested that you start at episode 00, because once you get past there, it gets really confusing. There are several enemies that will block your way to the keys, including sniper turrets, rocket launchers, mines, thwumps (boxes that move towards you as soon as you get in their path) various types of drones (moving octagons) including zap drones (which kill on contact), tracking zap drones (also kill on contact, but move fast towards you if you get on the same row or column as them), laser drones (target a laser on you as soon as they see you, which turns lethal a second later), and chaingun drones (which target as soon as they see you as well, and fire off a spray of bullets). In the right combination, and with the right level builder, they get deadly very quickly. There's not really too much more you can explain about the game. All you can do now is try it. You can play the first thirty episodes on AddictingGames, and if you like that, download the full version (with all hundred episodes, highscores, and unlockable ninja colours you get from beating episodes) at the Metanet website (Metanet being Raigan Burns and Mare Sheppard, the creators of the game). The full version also comes with a selection of the best userlevels, and more can be downloaded at NUMA - the N User Map Archive. Overall? A great, addicting, and above all, DEVILISHLY HARD game. Good luck. You'll need it.
  8. Oh, Jesus... This looks AWESOME. It's kinda along the lines of the Raiden games, right? That's what I'm getting from the videos. But a lot harder. It looks great... I'm gonna give it a try.
  9. I always found the East Varrock ones to work great. They're positioned so you don't have to run far, and can always get them right as they respawn. They're also moderately close to a bank.
  10. I guarantee you it's an amazing amount. They're FANTASTIC charm droppers. It's very worth the money you spend for the mage XP and the summoning XP.
  11. Then why do we keep playing? Obviously we enjoy it on some level or another.
  12. That's what I said, Langz. It's strange how you make up those ideas about people, and then they get absolutely shattered like that. =) Wait - doomsavenger is a girl too? Wow.
  13. It's absolutely fantastic. Usually about 120 XP per cast. I got 76-77 mage in 3 hours there. It was great.
  14. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be 100% maples and 50% flax gives you the best cash.
  15. Urgh. I kept trying to do the puzzle in my five-minute breaks at school, and it kept getting reset right as I finished it because I closed the window. It was terrible.
  16. Same, Deloria, but sometimes the other limbs jump in of their own free will. I swear it's true. Just now, I realized that for the past five minutes, I've been tapping out the beat to a song I heard a couple hours ago with my feet, and following along with the notes going on in the background of my brain. Yeah, I was thinking about it without noticing it. It's weird - almost like an OCD. And then if I notice and try to tone it down to the level it was at before, I feel weird and just want to go play my guitar
  17. Not enough people know about Debate Club. The problem is publicity. However, lots of people have said it - publicity would just bring in the idiots. I totally agree with your point about the OP posting something that's a good enough subject for debate, but then not saying anything on the subject theselves. I remember some old topics from six or seven months ago, when we were still a subforum of Rants, that were huge, and the thing was, every post was at least a paragraph, and we made posts that would fill whole browser windows. The problem is that people leave, and we don't get enough people coming in to offset that. We end up with less people, resulting in less interesting debates, resulting in less people, and it's just a vicious circle. I think we should go on aggressive recruitment. The only problem is the idiots. I'd suggest something like the Falador Library - posting rights limited to those who apply, and able to be revoked at any time. Same thing with spam and leetspeak - it should be deleted. We want good debates, not a bunch of idiots flaming each other. So the dilemma is this: We need more people, but we don't want to get the bad with the good. How do we manage that? I dunno.
  18. You're right actually. You always hear horror stories about 'Oh, the ambulance took four hours to arrive' and 'The cops were right there and they never did anything'. We shouldn't expect any better, should we? Hmm...
  19. Eh. Video game novels have always seemed kind of stupid to me, and... honestly... it's Runescape. How can you make an interesting read out of it?
  20. Are you joking? Living Bomb is a complete joke, look at it's damage. Burnout means you go oom every minute, or less. Fire and frost tier 8/9/10 talents are complete failures. They aren't even worth it. With FFB (Frostfire Bolt), you are looking at an elementalist spec making use of both frost and fire talents as FFB hooks onto both of them, the only talents it doesn't use are Imp and Emp Frostbolt/Fireball. Like this: Frostfire Bolt Spec Or you can look up my other thread. On the mage forums. http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.htm ... 1057&sid=1 2h Dual Wield?!?! WTF THAT OWN!1 Not to mention that somehow it has the 50pt arcane talent without any other arcane beyond second tier, and it's just generally mental. That is SO far from being a good spec it's painful.
  21. 1.Rush 2.Rush 3.Rush 4.Rush 5.Rush 6.Dream Theater 7.Dire Straits 8.Nightwish 9.Yes 10.Foo Fighters I honestly couldn't think of any more beyond those ones, and Rush is far out in front of anything else I listen to. Dream Theater is the only thing that comes close to being as good. I am SO in love with them.
  22. No. No you aren't. Sometimes, listening to music that's in the background, and I have company, my favourite songs come on and I just say, 'Excuse me,' and walk into the kitchen and dance around, air-guitaring and air-drumming my heart out. I also feel uncomfortable when I'm not tapping along to music or dancing to it. When my favourite songs come on I get both arms, both legs and my head going all at once to the beat, in different rhythms, so I make a hell of a percussion ensemble all alone. It looks really weird in class sometimes, but people have gotten used to seeing my desk shaking from both knees and both hands slamming it all at the same time.
  23. Customer Support are likely doing the best they can. It's unfortunate, but they're simply understaffed. I think that Jagex need to hire more people to work on it, but for now, I'm perfectly happy with what we're getting. I mean, you pay 5$ a month. Do you expect to get the customer service of WoW, where you can contact a GM at any time? No, because that costs 10$ extra every month. They can't do everything, but they're doing everything they can, and really, it's enough.
  24. Sure, maybe the excitement's worn off, but I still love the game. I still find it lots of fun to play. If you don't like the game after you've done it all once or twice, then there's really no point to continuing playing. I'm pretty sure all those of us in this forum are longtime players, and I'm pretty sure none of us have seriously quit, though I did for a couple months for WoW, although Runescape has since sucked me back. What you need is to find a replacement for that excitement, and that should flow from simply playing the game the way it's meant to be played. The feeling isn't gone - it's just changed.
  25. No way. Absolutely not. As has been stated, what makes Runescape Runescape is the accessibility. I'm happy to head over to the library for an hour or three when I'm bored and log on. If you moved it do disk, sure it could have better graphics, but the gameplay wouldn't be at all the same, and there's really no other pros to the situation. I simply see so little point to doing it, and so much of one for not doing it, that I can't imagine it ever happening, and would likely quit Runescape if it did, along with most of the people I know. I'd like to hear some pros for the idea as well, like Makoto said. I really can't see any - even the upgraded graphics would mean taking it out of Java, which they can't do, because they'd have to rebuild the game from the ground up, and basically kill it. So where's the good in this idea? Why would it make any sense at all?
