Are parent too harsh on Jagex? or misunderstood?
Actually, chances are he paid someone who just goes to GWD regularly. But even if he did pay a macroer, it's the macroer ruining the game - NOT the real world trader on the buying end (in this case Timmy). RWTers don't ruin the game for anybody. Timmy did not try to kill our game, therefore the only thing he should feel sorry for is being irresponsible enough to let himself get hacked. Honestly, you guys are all interchanging macroers and people who use stolen credit cards with real world traders. Macroers ruined the game, players who used stolen credit cards didn't necessarily ruin the game but they sure as hell hurt Jagex, real world traders on the other hand didn't affect the game in any way for you and I.

See this is what I don't get...pretend this is a few years ago when there was no trade limit and let's say Timmy's family members also play Runescape. It's Timmy's birthday and all of his family members get on Runescape to give him in game gifts amounting to a lot of wealth - a partyhat, the best armour, and a hefty cash pile (his grandma kick's [wagon] at staking). After Timmy receives all that he gets hacked, and yes it's probably his fault but hell he's 11 and like most 11 year olds he's going to make mistakes. Now if the story were to be like that (which tbh isn't any different than rwt), would you all still be proclaiming "karma's a [bleep]"? Or that he got what's coming to him? Some people are blinded by rage, some are blinded by love, but you guys all seem to be blinded by freaking real world trading.

Drivers permit
I got mine when I was 16 and 3 months, so it's not that bad. I still don't have my license, and I have been eligible to get it since January 4th. I just don't want to pay for insurance #-o Uh, man I'm glad I live where I live. Learner's at 14, only had to have that for 90 days then I got my restricted license when I was just under 14 and a half. As for whoever said driving stops being fun once you've had all the transmission fluid leak from your care, slide on a patch of ice and bust out the front headlight within a week of getting it back from the shop, and hit a deer at 35 mph within a month of that...that's nothin. I've had so much crap happen to my car it's not even funny, but I still love driving. : If you're looking for fun in your driving, try driving 350 miles with no heater and the inside of your car is below freezing - once you've done that, try doing it with sandwiches in your shoes (gas station didn't have hand/feet warmers), once you've done that try it without cruise control. All of that added up to me jamming the gas pedal so I could warm my feet and my car ended up going 94 mph but I wasn't paying attention nor did I care (damn cop cared tho >.<). Oh, then on the way back I was driving along when I saw a family of deer crossing the road ahead...there were 2 on the road and one on each shoulder so there wasn't much I could do so I just hoped for the best. Managed to squeeze between two of them (they were each within a foot of my car) going 75 mph...now THAT puts the fun back in driving if the aforementioned freezing feet drive doesn't. ;) Yeah, I have a lot of driving stories....mostly because I like to drive.

Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
I'd rather you first convince me that there's a problem before you work so hard to fix it. A few people being jealous of something expensive that they cannot afford is not a systemic problem. Jagex designed Commander Zilyana's room to have pretty corners with the intent of them being pretty. These walls turned out to be safe spots for killing Commander Zilyana, an obvious lack of foresight. As a result players get to kill her and get lots of money and everyone's happy except for those who are being jealous of something they cannot do because they don't have the levels. Jagex introduces holiday items with the intent of them being fun and celebratory. These holiday items turn out to be rare items because Jagex discontinues them and keeps them tradable, an obvious lack of foresight. As a result players who kept rares over time get lots of money and everyone's happy except for those who are jealous of something expensive that they cannot afford.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
All that means is they haven't found another way to release their man-juice when the females aren't available. I highly doubt animals are attracted to one another seeing as how my dog tries humping his stuffed bunny on a regular basis, and if that's the case (no attraction) then they just have sex for sex, not for love - and that means they don't care what it is they're doing as long as they're doing something. Obviously females are their first choice because it's probably the most pleasurable for them.

Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
Jard is about as thick-headed and narrow minded as they come. I've been trying to tell you all to just ignore his proposed solutions and to not worry if he ignores posts that prove his solution wrong. And while you're right that he SHOULD know better, he doesn't because that's just who he is. Also, I bet Jagex would do something about the situation of holiday items if they weren't to freaking chicken [cabbage] - meaning if they so much as suspect the players won't take a liking to it, they won't even bother (regardless of whether or not they think it's the right thing to do). The obvious exception to this was their whole RWT situation, which in my opinion they still handled horribly.

Drivers permit
I never had to take any written test for my license and the driving portion of the test was cake considering my dad started letting me drive when I was 13.

glass houses and the law
If it were to be considered public indecency then they would not issue building permits for glass houses, simple.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
Also known as "Super-Christians" or Conservatives. For the most part yes, but I've noticed a lot of people on this thread who are claiming homosexuality is wrong when I can say with a degree of certainty they aren't of the opinion that sex should only ever be done in an attempt to reproduce - and it's getting ridiculous because their only reason for thinking it's wrong is "I think two guys having sex is gross, so it's wrong". Besides, even most 'Super-Christians' and Conservatives would probably tell you that sex not intended for reproduction is fine provided the couple is married, because even they recognize it as a form of passionate love making.

Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
New players not being able to afford holiday items IS a problem because as pointed out multiple times already, they were meant to be fun items for people to share and not investment opportunities. Also, we can all pretty much agree that his solution is "[developmentally delayed]" so why do you all feel the need to keep bringing it up? It doesn't say any more about your intelligence than his when you can't even recognize that the main focus of the discussion shouldn't be his idiotic ideas, but rather the issue of holiday items and how they are nowhere near where Jagex intended them to be. As for your example...I'm telling you guys that you SHOULDN'T be the ones to tell him the moon isn't actually be made of cheese. Rather, you should have the intelligence to recognize that it should be ignored.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
I'll post here what I told one of my friends last night,
-
So, what did you dream about last night?
Yeah, he was clearly joking.

- Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
And therein lies the problem, as has been stated multiple times. Also - people, stop addressing his ideas on the nontradable holiday items...we all know they're silly. As for his proposed solution to the tradable holiday items issue, just ignore his actual proposed solution and discuss whether or not you think something should be done. Seriously, it's like if stealing were legal in real life and someone proposed 'I don't think stealing should be legal, and to solve that we should just give them the money so they don't have to steal' and people responded 'No way that's dumb, keep stealing legal'. There is a legitimate problem (in the eyes of Jagex), it's just his ideas on what to do about it are mostly made of fail. So for the sake of everyone's sanity, please focus more on the main topic and less on Jard's personal ideas on that topic.- So, what did you dream about last night?
Eh, I don't remember my dreams...probably because I usually don't even have one in the first place. I average maybe 1 dream per week, but I never remember it. My cousin/best friend on the other hand - he has some amazing dreams. The best thing about listening to someone's crazy dream is you know they aren't lying because you just can't make [cabbage] like that up. :- Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
Good thing guys have more than just penises and girls have more than just vaginas then right? ;)- Amazon Halts Sale of Japanese "Rape" Game
There's an M rating on it for a reason, aka not meant for kids. ;)- Things that annoy the hell out of you
Boy am I glad most of you aren't my friends... OT - I get annoyed when people overdramatize things.- The Perfect Game - I bowled a 300!
If you said you bowled over a 300 you'd probably get made fun of by those who know how bowling is scored. #-o But as they always say when it comes to things like this...NO PIC NO PROOF! jk, grats on the 300.- Amazon Halts Sale of Japanese "Rape" Game
What the hell kind of videogames are you playing? I've played the Twisted Metal games, the Silent Hill games, the Metal Gear games....all of which have very disturbing moments in them, especially the cutscenes from Twisted Metal Black and Silent Hill. [hide=Quote]The fearsome Pyramid Head is one of gaming's most disturbing adversaries. From his immense polygon of a noggin to his penchant for forcible sexual action (and murder), the deformed apron-wearing monster who made his debut in Silent Hill 2 has become somewhat of a mascot for the series. So we were pleased as punch when he made his appearance in Christophe Gans's 2006 flick, which captured a lot of the atmosphere of the games at the expense of narrative coherence. After the air raid sirens blare and the residents of Silent Hill scramble for refuge inside a church, the Pyramid Head comes out to play, materializing out of thin air to rip the skin off of a cultist with his bare hands. The scary thing is, that's like polite conversation to this dude.[/hide]The getting skinned alive that I was talking about took place in the movie (don't think it happened in the game itself), my mistake. But as you can see, that Pyramid Head character is essentially a psychological mind [bleep]. All of the game's I've just mentioned (Metal Gear not really that bad, just has some frightening moments in it) are currently for sale on the Amazon website, and have been since their release.- A sobering picture... The 'Pale Blue Dot'.
How awesome would it be if when we die we become a new spec in the universe? :D Sadly tho, that's not the case...we'll just die and go back to the nothingness we had before we were born.- Amazon Halts Sale of Japanese "Rape" Game
So you're not ok with rape being simulated in a game, but you're ok with people getting skinned alive being simulated in a game? It's no secret that the video game industry isn't exactly the role model for society's standards, hell many game creators are terrorists by definition. Everyone understands it's not real, and should not be perceived as real. This is why rape being simulated in a game is perfectly fine by me. Video games like this are like abortions for real world crimes, you get the experience (to a degree) with no strings attached.- Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
Yes, they are rare items and how their price has changed over the years reflects that...but that's because Jagex is full of idiots and don't know how to plan ahead. Instead of comparing this to a rare painting in real life, compare it to going to your family christmas and buying everyones' presents, then 10 years later all those presents are worth thousands of dollars when there's absolutely no reason they should be. Their goal was to impliment some holiday items for people to have fun with and share with each other, but due to extremely poor planning and logistics behind it they failed miserably. This is why they do have a reason to do something about it, granted they probably won't because they have more important things to focus on (or at least should be focusing on), but if one day they announced a change is going to happen with holiday items then we players have no reason to criticize them for it.- 17th February 2009 - Wilderness and Real-World Trading Q&A
You're right about the solution being so simple it's ridiculous, but you're 100% wrong with your proposed solution. Personally I'm not disappointed that they fail to recognize junk as a problem because how can you be disappointed if that's what you expect? -.- - Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
