  1. Or because it's against the law, that reason works too. : I believe 12 is the age limit for being home alone/unsupervised.
  2. Is it even legal for 10 year olds to go out unsupervised? And if they were supervised by the boy's parent(s), what's the problem?
  3. True, him putting "closed" in the title doesn't mean we can't post on it anymore, but he can edit his first post to not contain anything useful making it worth of a lock (which he has done), and all future posts on the thread (like this one) will be treated as spam. Btw, I don't get why people were hatin on l0rd for defending threads like these, when you/we should've simply told Azvareth to get off this thread.
  4. Start smoking - You will hang out with the smokers. Start drinking - You will hang out with the drinkers. Find a hobby and you will find the people whom do the same thing. Start gaming and you will hang out with gamers. Its all about your interests. And if that doesn't work, try all 3 at once. But yeah, it really comes down to common interests and taking advantages of opportunities when they present themselves. In high school it was kinda tough for me to make what I'd consider good friends (I had plenty of friends but mostly just inside of school) because I was really into sports and really into some nerdy stuff as well, and those two interests formed two very different groups of people. But once I got to college, it was a LOT easier to become closer friends with each of the different groups - mainly because the college is so much bigger than my high school and people really don't pay attention to who you hang out with, unless you're hanging out with them at the time. Another reason is that college kids are slightly more mature (I say slightly because you still have your fair share of immaturity) so they respect others more. Also, and this is my opinion so you can do with it what you want, ignore the fallacy of "if someone makes fun of you for who you hang out with, they aren't worth having as a friend so just don't care what they think" because everyone has their flaws and it's not only the 'jocks' who pick on the 'nerds', seeing as how most of my 'nerd' friends do say pretty harsh things about the 'jocks' (granted, it usually is INITIATED by the 'jocks', but still). Even now when I go back and visit my friends from high school (during breaks/summer), I'll get asked "why do you hang out with such and such?" all the time and I usually tell them something along the lines of "because you won't play [sport] with me" (for my nerdy friends :P) and "when was the last time you played [old people cards game] with me?" (for my arrogant friends who like sports :P)

[hide=Taken from "Eloisa to Abelard" by Alexander Pope]How happy is the blameless vestal's lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd; Labour and rest, that equal periods keep; "Obedient slumbers that can wake and weep;" Desires compos'd, affections ever ev'n, Tears that delight, and sighs that waft to Heav'n. Grace shines around her with serenest beams, And whisp'ring angels prompt her golden dreams. For her th' unfading rose of Eden blooms, And wings of seraphs shed divine perfumes, For her the Spouse prepares the bridal ring, For her white virgins hymeneals sing, To sounds of heav'nly harps she dies away, And melts in visions of eternal day.[/hide] Gotta love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
  6. Regret - Playing rs during high school when I should've been working out more and practicing more for football/basketball/golf. Regret - Not going on some road trips with my dad when I was younger because I wanted to play with my friends. Regret - Not helping my dad on some occasions when he asked if I wanted to come along and help (work on rental houses). Confession - I've listened to Hayley Westenra's - Both Sides Now over a thousand times. Confession - I've watched Celtic Woman: A New Journey probably over a hundred times. Confession - I've never had a girlfriend, been on a date, or kissed a girl...and I know quite a few people suspect I'm gay but I can assure you I'm not, even tho right probably says otherwise as well. >.< Confession - When I was like 11 years old my family went on a camping trip and we stayed in this cabin which had lots of writing on the walls, so I decided at the time it would be funny to write a bunch of cuss words up there to go with it - wasn't very hard for them to figure out who did it and I ended up having go go down to the police station and get lectured about vandalism as well as write a 5 page essay on it (which at the time was very long). Confession - If I'm studying near people I'll pretend to be listening to music so I can listen to their conversation. Secret - My roommate came in late last friday with a girl, he thought I was sleeping but really I was awake (the light is very bright and 2 feet from my head) so I heard their entire night of sexing and giggling - it was hilarious tbh - but yeah, don't plan on telling him. EDIT - Another secret - My biggest pet peave is loud eaters. *creepy stalker voice* So how was that corn chip from a couple days ago?
  7. I wasn't waiting for it because as I've been trying to explain, there's no reason we should care. And the fact that they publicly announced all that tells me they want to be seen as the 'heroes' moreso than as people who are doing what they are suppose to do. Meh, but I guess why shouldn't they...most of rs falls for it anyways. Sometimes I seriously wonder if you guys applaud the person selling you a candy bar at a convenience store. Then again that'd be pretty funny tbh
  8. Wow, nice interpretation skills. Did it ever once occur to you that maybe, just maybe, JaGex sat down and came to the realization that not everyone enjoys mindlessly clicking in order to advance in the game? They have slowly but surely been trying to reduce the mindless clicking, and add more enjoyable clicking into the game. For all the people still proclaiming "They better not ruin slayer!" just take a look around and pure common sense will tell you that sooner or later there will come a time where slayer is faster to train than it is now. They've increased the rate of most if not all of the skills throughout this version of the game (comparing it to rsc is another story). Honestly, tell me a skill that hasn't been increased in speed since rs2 came out. So no, handing out 99s in a lamp is not progress - but allowing players to spend less time grinding and more time enjoying IS progress, especially if they introduce new content that is more/equally enjoyable.
  9. That's ironic to me, because I've seen plenty of times where people will be outraged that they were "unfairly banned". In fact, isn't there a thread like that on these forums? See the thing is, we also agree that our account can be terminated at any given time for any given reason.
  10. so what? if someone gets murdered 100 miles away from you, it didn't affect you....so why should anyone care? see.... Unless it's somebody I knew, I wouldn't do anything more than feel bad for the person who got murdered, just like I feel bad for anyone who does lose their stuff as a result of a bug abuser. In instances like that however, I trust the authorities will take care of said murderer just like I trust JaGex would take care of a bug abuser who abused a bug that affected others. This bug on the other hand, does not affect other players...the falador massacre bug did, this one doesn't - there is a distinct difference between the two types of bugs [abusers of those bugs]. A better real world comparison would be someone cheating in school...you aren't affected by it and it's simply that student taking a risk which they feel they can get away with and will benefit them. I'm not going to run around yelling "FLUNK HIM FLUNK HIM!!! HE CHEATED!!!" because quite honestly, I don't care whether or not other students cheat. So yeah, player abuses bug to take away from others = ok for those affected "they should be banned!", player abuses bug for personal gain and nothing more = don't worry about it...they'll either be taken care of by JaGex or they'll luck out and slip past detection but regardless of what happens you won't be affected nor will others.
  11. With this frame of mind, if everybody but had abused this feature and gotten all 99s (speaking hypothetically). Would you mind seeing tons of newbies getting ahead of yourself (mining faster, getting more kills per hour slaying, doing double nats, well everything faster including owning you in PVP...). There are rules and those rules apply to everyone. Break them and suffer the consequences or play by the rules and keep this game balanced. There are players getting 85 slayers, 91 rc and 85 mining every day, that's true. But they deserved it (those that don't macro or share accounts) , they didn't cheat their way to better money making methods. I wouldn't mind it any more than the hypothetical situation of everyone but me getting all 99s without abusing a bug.
  12. So? More and more people get 85 slayer on an hourly basis...1 more person getting it would not change anything.
  13. Why do you care? -.- Probably because Red Jude was one of the biggest abusers of the bug and gained nearly 2m slayer xp from it. On a positive note, Red Jude is banned, again! \ So what if Red Jude abused the bug....did it affect you in any way? Not a single bit. The irritating thing about a bug like this occurring is that so many people get all riled up over something that doesn't (shouldn't) concern them.
  14. To everyone crying that they better not make slayer even 1% easier...here's a list for you: - Black masks - Changing tasks - Sumona (points, slayer helm, removing tasks) - Lunar magic - Summoning familiars - Godswords - Barrows items Now unless you train slayer without all of those, you're not very credible when you say they "better not make slayer easier".
  15. Why do you care? -.-
  16. So the people who lost thousands if not millions in the "falador massacre glitch" shouldn't be concerned about the bug at all? Yeah, I totally see where you're coming from! [/sarcasm] Do you understand what the ** means? It means there is a note pertaining to the word prior to the **. Try reading it and you will see that your reply was, for lack of a better word, silly.
  17. Tell me exactly how dyslexia would harm someone's basketball performance? Maybe this loss will make the losing team wake up and say "wow, we really suck; maybe we should practice more?" Sports are competitive, get used to it. school of 20 vs regular high school, the only way that school of 20 is going to win is if they were drafted specifcally for the best basketball playing 20 person school ever. This isnt about the fact that the better school would have won. Going into the game they knew they were going to run over the other team, they should have started 2nd or 3rd string players and had them take it easy. They still would have won by a nice margin 30-40 points, but at least the smaller school would have scored some and there wouldnt have been public outcry. My high school only had about 20 girls in it, yet our girls' basketball team never lost that bad or goes winless throughout the season. I have played sports all my life, and I too think it's a little unfair for them to fire the coach over it and get all riled up about it (granted I didn't see the game, so the coach's actions could've said otherwise), but looking at it without those variables...if the team that got beat 100-0 was embarassed by it, they should either schedule better competition for them, practice a little more, or simply discontinue their basketball team. If I were a coach and my team was up huge, I wouldn't punish them by making it a borefest for the remainder of the game and be like "Ok, let's see who can pass the ball". No, I would instead be like "Alright, now's a good time to practice contested shots as well as driving to the basket".
  18. That's the point. Deciding anything isn't pure selflessness because you always seek the best universal outcome from your point of view. What if you're seeking the best universal outcome for others from your point of view, and don't give a [cabbage] what happens to yourself? If that isn't pure selflessness, then we may as well throw that out of our vocabulary imo. :| I think the general thought process when deciding whether or not to do something 'nice' is "Will their benefit outweigh my costs?" (because when benefits outweigh costs, things are productive) and there are countless times where people do good deeds without even conciously thinking about it, in those situations that's because it's a no brainer to them (or the cost is so small). There are also plenty of occassions where one will choose to go ahead with whatever it is they were contemplating even if their cost is more than the other's benefit - and while this may be counterproductive as a whole, to that individual they are more concerned with the productivity of those around them. P.S. (to Goddess) - I thought it was 'sacrifice yourself to save your brother, or sacrifice your brother to save yourself' ... versus picking between two of your siblings (because, to me at least, those are two entirely different things).
  19. Personally I feel that if they're gonna ban these players then they should fire the employees who caused the bug in the first place - teach them a lesson as well. But in all seriousness...whether or not the players who used/abused it get banned should be of no concern to us whatsoever (unless you have a friend that got banned, then it's understandable for one to be like "oh no please don't ban my friend" or something). What they did has absolutely no affect on us in any way shape or form...in fact, prior to a half hour ago I didn't even know this had happened. Do I care of Red Jude get's banned for getting ~2m slayer xp from it? Nope, because I don't even know who Red Jude is, nor have I ever seen that player, nor do I care how much money that player has. Just ask yourselves these questions... - Do I care what the stats are of somebody I'll never interact with in this game? - Do I care how much money a player has when I'll never interact with them in this game? - Will a player I've never seen/heard of/interacted with in this game getting free xp/money affect me? Simply put, if you answered "yes" to any of the above 3 questions, you probably should rethink some things. Cheating**, whether it be in school or on a game, is an issue that only pertains to the cheating party and the 'authorities' involved (teachers/Jagex), nobody else. To clarify - I'm not saying that the bug abusers shouldn't be banned, I'm saying that whether or not they are is no concern of ours. **Obviously there are forms of cheating that can affect others, like the Falador pking incident. But even then, unless you or a friend of yours got killed, you weren't affected by it.
  20. You're using a strawman. It doesn't apply to any situation where someone is doing a nice deed. It only applies to those who have to try keeping track of all the nice things they've done. Let me ask a question. What purpose does keeping a list serve? I've done nice things that I honestly can't remember. Let me answer your question with one of my own. If it only applies to those who have to try keeping track of all the nice things they've done, how is that relevent to this thread? The OP is asking for us to try and think of the nicest thing we've done, and share it with each other. So again, keeping a list serves no purpose - but who's keeping a list?
  21. Exactly. You'd think being nice and being modest go hand in hand but some posts in this thread definitely say otherwise. [it gets even worse when someone brags about being modest.] I wouldn't even call it being nice - I'd call it purposely trying to establish a reputation as a "righteous person". The point in being nice shouldn't just be to say, "Ha - I'm a kind person! I helped someone a year ago, therefore I'm nice!" Niceness shouldn't be measured in the deeds you do - but by how you live your life. A genuine nice person is consistent in their actions. Do a bad deed, and you're canceling out a good one. If someone goes way out of their way to do something to help another, chances are they will remember it. Also, if someone does something that greatly impacts another's life in a positive manner, that person will be sure to let them know - again, chances are they will remember it. When most people do a good deed, they don't premeditate it like "What's something I can do today so that I can tell others about it later?", but moreso a situation occurs that brings out the compassion/generosity of the individual. When my friend got pregnant at the age of 15 and was on the verge of being thrown out of the house by her abusive parents (juvenile detention center or foster home), I didn't spend countless hours helping her through that tough time because I wanted to. Who honestly wants to even be in that situation? I did it because she needed someone that she could talk to, and it just so happened that her best friend was a cutter and they got into a huge argument which led to them not talking to each other. Unfortunately she was sent to the JDC a while ago and I haven't heard from her since. Personally, I would willingly and without question trade places with her...not because I want to be in JDC, but because I am the kind of person who doesn't get bothered by bad things happening to me. I've even told all of my friends that no matter what happens to me, I won't accept them feeling sorry for me. If wanting others to live a better life than myself is selfish...then put me on the selfish list.
  22. Banned for having the sum of your hitpoints and crafting levels equal the sum of your fishing and agility levels.

Yeah, the easiest way to explain that goat/car thing to people who haven't heard it is to clarify that the host always opens a goat first, as well as for them to think of it as "would you rather pick one door, or two?".
  24. That's my fallback plan for if the economy goes to [cabbage] and world war 3 hits us - head up to the unoccupied lands of Canada and live off the land.
  25. I said up front it was a made up value, I know it's higher than 30mL but it was an 'example'. Also, there obviously has to be a tipping point because if you do it drop at a time, eventually the person will die. Just like how an inch can be the difference between surviving a fall and death.
