Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
But Jagex made it require that initially, so by removing the requirement, they are making the game easier and removing the prestige involved with killing these. And yes, you're right. If it had been released without the FC requirement, there wouldn't have been any clamor. But because it was, and now Jagex is changing it, many people feel like they are being ripped off.

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
It's all because Jagex lacked the foresight to see what kind of mess they'd create by making an update with such a requirement. If they done the "compromise" as the initial update, no one would be complaining. But because they went back and changed something that added prestige to a high-level task, many people feel like they're getting ripped off. That's where the arguing comes from.

There are no Internet cafe's within 40 miles of where I live. The nearest public library is 25 miles. I am uncertain of their policy of gaming on the taxpayer dollar, but I wouldn't ask anyway. That sort of access is for educational purposes, not gaming. Not everyone lives in an urban setting. Just because you can walk to an internet café from your house or use a friends connection on the way home from school... doesn't mean everyone else has that sort of opportunity. The people who keep making those relocation suggestions are blithely oblivious to the realities of life in rural settings. RS has the be the ONLY mmo where the gamers expect the developers to tailor their game around their technical limitations. Jesus [bleep]ing Christ. People with bad connections, people with neurological disorders, people whose age impacts their reflexes... It's all lame excuses that only really apply to a negligible amount of level 93 slayers.

"Any chance you can answer the Hexcrest, focus and full slayer helm bonus question? IE what are the exact bonuses they give. The manual states nothing about it and I can't find a single answer." The hexcrest and focus sight do the same as the black mask so the hexcrest is +mage accuracy and +mage damage vs slayer task. The focus sight is +ranged accuracy and +ranged damage vs slayer task. Quoted from Mod Emilee.

Stryke Wyrms are a rare task for many people. Requiring a task to kill them is far more inconveniencing than the Fire Cape. Getting a Fire Cape is largely controllable-- there is a significant amount of skill involved-- and you can get better at it. Receiving a Stryke Wyrm task is completely random, and that is very unfair. I know many players who are way above the requirement for Ice Strykewyrms, yet they have consumed hundreds of points and done dozens of tasks without receiving it.

Yes. If you lack the task, you can't "summon" the Wyms. You'll stomp and then scratch your head, puzzled. If you lack the fire cape, you can't hurt them. Neither prevents you from accessing the area.

If oyu really think about it the staff special is pretty useful everywhere. Barrows, pvp, SARA (WE CAN FINALLY TANK SARA), Slayer tasks, the list goes on... Nope. If you unwield the staff, you lose the special effect. Or, since you are there to soak up damage and attention while tanking, other people can switch to their whips and bolts while their own special bars recharge to actually do the killing. You'd still eat a lot of damage. 15-11 4-12 14-15 2-7 13-15 etc

The fire cape requirement is not that bad. It's the "you need a task to fight these" requirement that really bugs the crap out of me. There were other, better solutions to overcrowding. Such as Kuradal's Dungeon. Although I wouldn't put it past Jagex to WANT to create another "spirit shield" type item.

First I lol'd, then I agreed.- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Lol why 39 mourner sets? I think you needed them to get to dark beasts before Kuradal's dungeon. Not 100% sure though. yes you did, tho the tele crystal negated that. and now kuradal, they totaly useless lol. Did you have to pay to get two Soul Wars Capes? Yes. You drop one, then tell him you lost yours and pay for a second, then pick up the first.- Why you should never use a "Merchanting Clan"
As has been said, merchant clans kill the game and they are definitely as bad or worse than bots. Bots drove the prices of resources down, so everything was much cheaper. Merchants drive the prices of resources up, so everything is much more expensive. The thing that makes merchant clans worse than bots is that merchant clans can and do make it IMPOSSIBLE for ordinary players to obtain many items without paying arbitrary, exorbitant "street prices." Now, many months since the Extreme Potion update, the herblore market is STILL at a standstill because of merchant clans. Tortstol seeds are MORE than SNAPDRAGON seeds. But bots threatened the credit card companies and therefore affected Jagex's bottom line, and merchant clans don't affect Jagex in any way, so it's easier and cheaper for Jagex to sweep the problem under the rug and deliver vague, empty promises that they'll "look into the issue."- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Looks better, less effective Looks worse, more effective- 11-Jan-2010 - Nomads Requiem
According to a HLF and forum mod friend of mine, Jagex is actually considering making it easier. They want to collect more feedback before they do, though. I really hope they do not mess with it, especially since by the time they do many people will have done it and wasted a bunch of supplies.- 11-Jan-2010 - Nomads Requiem
Perhaps, but no one ever said GM quests had to have grandiose plots. You're extrapolating that because of WGS. All that a quest needs to be a GM quest is either high requirements or really tough fights. All quests are rated in difficulty based on their requirements and the fights involved, so GM quests should be no different. Nomad is so hard that many people on the RSOF want him nerfed, that many maxed players are struggling to beat him. I'd say that this qualifies it as a GM quest. Also, this is a tie-in to WGS/Mysteries of the Mahjarrat. There is good reason to believe that Nomad is a mahjarrat, and it introduces what looks to be a key player in the future of that quest series.- 11-Jan-2010 - Nomads Requiem

No we consider it that because we were told they were going to be awesome and special. And they aren't doing that. Jagex promised us mammoths a few years ago! I want my mammoths! Just because they have a idea doesn't mean Jagex will stick to it, to be honest, I would be very, VERY surprised if any game ever made was exactly like the creators had in mind when they finished developing it  Yes but this has nothing to do with issues involving creating something. They simply told us one thing and did another. They could've done this easily enough, same battle mechanics, same fight, just not as hard and made it Master, or they could've made the quest be longer, have more of a story and keep Nomad as he is. The way it was done I think isn't right. Let us know how you fare against Nomad, then talk. I have fought him 4 times already and I still think the same. This quest doesn't deserve GM status due to the lack of story. The story is there, it's just subtle. Nomad used to work for Lucien, but he didn't like Lucien's goals, so he abandoned him. Lucien keeps sending assassins to kill Nomad, so Nomad created the Soul Obelisk to gather souls to make him stronger, so that when Lucien himself confronts Nomad, he will be able to beat him.- 11-Jan-2010 - Nomads Requiem
The damage done to a player doesn't matter-there is no danger in either fight except for the consumable ingredients used. This being so, the dangers of each are comparable. In one, you sit there for ten minutes with prayer and the other you spend five minutes spamming brews and restores with auto-retaliate on. It's a bit more complicated than that. First, you need decent stats to be able to damage him often enough. Second, you need to know his order of attacks so that you can dodge his 75 dmg attack and prepare for his 98 damage attack.- 11-Jan-2010 - Nomads Requiem
While I agree that the plot was a bit lacking, this quest does drop many hints about future quests, especially if you choose to go through all the dialogue options with Nomad before you fight him. - Wow...2 void ranger helms...ffs
