  1. EDIT: wrong forum Lock please
  2. If you don't have an Elysian or a Divine, would getting the maul for MHing be better than getting the CLS?
  3. Neither. Use a fighter torso and buy tassets instead.
  4. The core issue is that, for the most part, RS is inhabited by short-sighted, greedy children. This is why all "team-based" minigames have been so goddamn frustrating. Forcing people to depend on random players is a recipe for disaster, given how selfish and rebelliously uncooperative how many people who play this game are. They really need to compensate the soloers with an exp boost only available in solo, since you lose out on such a massive amount of base floor and base prestige exp by not being able to do med/large maps. I think that a bonus of 1.5% times the floor level would be fair. That means at F35, you'd get a 52% bonus, which still won't give better exp than a large 5 man, but it would definitely be much fairer.
  5. Prepare yourself adequately and you'll never die* *Except in multi-combat zones. Then you're ****ed.
  6. Jagex designed the skill to cater more to those with maxed levels than lower levels. It is "an end-game skill." Meaning, it is a skill meant for those at or close to the end of the game, skill-wise.
  7. If they do, they damn well better release the ability to sell back rewards for a 100% refund.
  8. +10 more range accuracy than rune cbow, + no spec, = about what I expected. If I were to get all chaotic weapons, this would have to be second to last. Last of course being the staff because it's basically a degradable version of the SoL with but one more mage accuracy but no spec or rune savings. 80 Dungeneering Vs 93 Slayer, I can guess which item would be better. The one that degrades at 200k/hr should be better. Also, you don't need 93 slayer to use an SOL. You do need 80 dungeoneering, which is a pretty big time investment. If they had just given it a 20 or 25% magic damage boost and then made it 2h, it would have been fine.
  9. Whip does fine hitting 300+300 opposed to a gs hitting a 400 or a 500... Analysis below, be warned: [hide]Assume the following is controlled: overloads, turmoil, 99 strength; void, fury dragon boots, berserker (i). Abyssal whip: Max hit of abyssal whip + defender: 508 Mean hit of abyssal whip + defender: 254 Standard deviation of abyssal whip + defender: 146.64 Chance to hit over 310 in the first hit: 0.0000 Chance to hit over 310 in two hits: 0.8301 - average of 541.28 Chance to hit over 310 in three hits: 0.1323 - average of 619.93 Chance to hit over 310 in four or more hits: 0.0359 - average of 657.37 On average you will hit 554.93 damage over 2.2 hits (5.28s). -- Godsword: Max hit of godsword: 641 Mean hit of godsword: 320.5 Standard deviation of godsword: 185.04 Chance to hit over 310 in the first hit: 0.5226 - average of 461.18 Chance to hit over 310 in two hits: 0.3744 - average of 634.47 Chance to hit over 310 in three hits: 0.0966 - average of 721.36 Chance to hit over 310 in four or more hits: 0.0064 - average of 761.06 On average you will hit 553.11 damage over 1.59 hits (5.72s).[/hide] In summary, you get similar damage per switch with whip + defender as godsword. However this did not take into account the penalty of missing, because of which the godsword gains an advantage. And the speed advantage between the longsword and the maul is less than the maul/godsword and the whip... So that further leads me to believe the maul would be a better choice, unless you have a divine/elysian.
  10. Actually crush is really useful against skeletons and forgotten warriors so there is a lot of enemies weak against crush attacks too. Prome spear is still numbah one though. Using any kind of melee against forgotten warriors is not very effective. =|
  11. I've had both the Primal Maul and the Prom Spear... And the Prom Spear is far better. Just because the maul has 30+ more attack doesn't mean anything in THIS skill. From F30-35, most monsters are resistant to crush... To the point where it's like fighting someone with 400+ crush defense. Whereas, if you can use stab or slash, it's like fighting someone in addy armor, even with the low slash bonus of the spear.
  12. Ew emo music. Neat glitch, though. Also, Raz, I think a maul would actually be better for TDs. Slow but stronger weapons are generally better there because of the 300 damage limit in one pray switch.
  13. The more I think about it, the more tantalizing the Maul is to me. It has the highest attack bonus of any weapon by far, including the c-long + defender. It is probably the best Waterfiends weapon, due to its high strength and massive crush attack bonus. Slow but powerful weapons are better against TDs than weaker but faster weapons. At Bandos and Sara, you still do quite a bit of normal attacking in teams (esp Sara), and the attack bonus would really help there. For solo bosses (except TDs), the longsword would be best. For teams, I think the maul would be best, since you want the most damage possible in one or two hits.
  14. I usually end a task with at least three key halves.
  15. Maybe that's why the rewards trader is so shakey and nervous. Probably all riled up from that battle that he was wounded in. Also, if you go through all the chat trees with the rewards trader, he says "My name is Ma-"
  16. Damn, how much xp did you get for that? And how long did it take? 8k xp, took about an hour. Don't bother with large maps below F25+. The exp just isn't worth it.
  17. Seems like I remember Jagex confirming that you can only receive t11 items from bosses.
  18. 1) A very sizable portion of Jagex's clientele is Americans, 99% of whom can't go to the event. Therefore, it stands to reason that a significant portion of tickets sold will be solely to obtain the item. You're naive if you think that Jagex didn't intend it to work like that. 2) P hats came out in 2001, do your research before you make yourself look stupid.
  19. 18 To be exact. ;) Actually, mercenary gloves give a higher bonus than barrow gloves by 1 or 2.
  20. It's not about the goddamn flag. :x
  21. The thing that bothers me about this is how hypocritical it is. Jagex went through all that crap and nearly destroyed the game (it's still not nearly the same as it was before 12/10/07) to eradicate RWT when they could have just stooped to the level of other games and sold gold legitimately themselves. They had to take the high road... And now, they are essentially selling a bragging-rights item for $120? The largest portion of their clientele are Americans, and as such, the vast majority of flagsticks will probably be owned by people who just paid for the code and won't/can't attend the event, so that argument that "it's just a little bonus for people who attended the event' is [cabbage]. Don't be so naive.
  22. But what will end up happening is many people will just buy the tickets so they can get the item.
  23. Bad Jagex, for not realising that their players would act like spoilt children... Seriously, my respect for this forum has decreased severely just from this thread. If I'm playing a game where microtransaction (even for cosmetic items) is the norm, I know what I'm in for. You pay a fee for more skills and items, those who play the game know what they're in for. Holiday items are seasonal items, I blame no one for missing out on an item for whatever reason. But a corporation that openly declared that they'll never sell in-game items for cash, and yet offer an extra item for 75 bucks? Apparently the banner is a comemorative item, but what sets apart an active player who has it from another active player who doesn't? Cash. It's not so much about the item, but the fact that Jagex was against the policy of microtransaction in the first place. I would rather they take back their word and add a cash shop selling cosmetic item for a dollar each. Exactly. It's not the item that bothers me but the precedent.
  24. Whether the reaction is rational or not, it is entirely predictable. People don't like feeling left out, and there are years of history to show how people respond to missing out on limited-time or "had to have been there" items. What is unbelievable to me is that Jagex would do something like this and not know the response it would elicit. But then, that does seem to be a pattern of late. It's also amazing that a company this large, with this much money, can turn an event like this into such a PR disaster. And in so many different ways! Truly a spectacle to behold. Cut them some slack, this is the first official rs event. There are bound to be some mistakes. Baaaaaa. Anyone with any modicum of common sense would immediately see the problems associated with tying an in-game item to an EXPENSIVE real world purchase. Jagex, unfortunately, has proven themselves time and time again to be devoid of any common sense.
