I Have Faith.
After reading that story it gives me faith in RuneScape players as well. I sneered in disgust when I heard that guy wouldn't have the common decency to give back an amount that he certainly had not earned. I'm glad however he realized its not worth the wickedness and did the right thing. But in my opinion even the scammers do feel some hidden guilt in similar ways. No matter how much you all deny it or how cold they appear to feel about their practices...no one can stop the horrible looming feeling of guilt, especially when it comes in ban hammer form . As a side note: Interestingly enough I encountered this situation with me being on the opposite side. I was selling 1k coal in the Falador east bank. A level 72 wielding a fire staff was eager to send a trade offer. I priced the coal at 180 each and as I made the offer of the coal notes on the trade screen he offered the 180k. When we were at the final screen and as I pressed the Accept button, for a fleeting moment I realized I only gave him 100 coal notes. He immediately stored in the bank and started retrieving what must have been mith or iron ores and started superheating them. I yelled for him to stop and quickly sent another trade offer. He asked what the extra 900 was for and I explained to him it was a matter of my dull-headedness -.-...he laughed and said its ok.

Lvl 83 Mining ACHIEVED!!! Achieving Level 83 Mining Screenshot Ah success at last! Another number comes up on the mining ticker and that is...83! As usual, I got motivated when I reached close to the 100k mark or less. So in this level up crazed powermining session, I powermined a whopping 101k mining xp (nothing compared to the xp gains of my fellow 99 hopefuls but good enough for me :P)! Rune Ore is calling out louder and louder to me...as if it wants to meet a new friend. I do want to be your new friend oh blessed Rune Ore ... *starts an ominous worshipping chant*

hi, owr wait Hyt'z?
Hey Samurai I'm back again! To Samurai and the posters who had the discussion on Pg. 16 I have this to say: You all are amazing skillers and I have enormous respect for all of you. No need to get all over each other for a simple mistake of over-eagerness from Samurai. All of you have worked hard for your goals and I do not see any one of you the least bit flammish. I Had a Deal has worked hard for his achievement and his techniques belong to him in his own right. I would hold no grudge against him if he went right now on my blog and posted the exact same comment about xp gains (I wonder if he will just to test me :P). I'm a snail compared to I Had a Deal, O M G Guasto, you, and all the other passionate mining skillers. But I do not really see the point in getting huffy about those who gain xp much faster and much more efficient than myself. Lets just keep the encouragement up guys rather than start some unproductive discussion. At the end of the day we all share a common love for mining .

Lady Shahdie's Journey to 99 Smithing - MOVED TO THE BLOG TAB!
Hey all, only gained 10k xp yesterday. This was due to a movie I had waited to see since last weekend; which of course was Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix...and I was not dissappointed :. I may be inactive next week if I do not finish the upcoming final book of the Harry Potter series by Monday (my record finish was 2 days flat). I'll be mining at a relaxed pace today and post my new xp gains as the day wears on. 11:46 AM PST Edit: Achieved 31k more xp since morning...have 71k left to level 83 mining...I'm thinking of going for it! 4:06 PM PST Edit: Achieved a total of 80k xp so far since morning...have 23k left till 83...hope nothing comes up to delay me.

Hello all, I powermined 60k xp today and I'm taking a break to smith some more steel bars (got to sell off those puppies to add to my cash stack ). It was mostly an ordinary day. The only exciting part was that I actually got the new Dragon Teacher random event! The reward was this lovely book of knowledge that gives you much more desirable xp gains than genie lamps  (I of course chose mining as the skill I wanted xp added to). Here's a pic of the event: Yes Mr. Mordaut I Can Find the Correct Pattern...

Lady Shahdie's Journey to 99 Smithing - MOVED TO THE BLOG TAB!
Hey everybody, powermined a good 50k xp today. At least its more of the lumpsome amount that I usually desire. Real life engagements are starting to creep on me and slowing down my mining levels ups. I remain undeterred as always though :D. Today was a quite an odd day. It was happy, sad, and funny all at the same time. The sad bit of it was a good friend of mine had to leave RuneScape today. He generously bestowed many items unto me such as glorious Wizzy (g) robes and a Magic (t) amulet. I will always wear the amulet he gave me in his memory and never sell the lovely presents he gave (hope to see you back foo, thanks for keeping watch of my bloggie). The happy bit of it was that I powermined my usual goal of 1000+ iron ores a day. And the funny bit would be the comical encounter I had with a steamed level 7 bronze axe wielder. Those of you who visit my powermining sessions have witnessed how I relentlessly hit those rimmy rocks with effortless speed. An hour and a half into my powermining the level 7 strolls by and starts to observe me suspiciously. He finally reveals his thoughts and says: "U mus be one of dem autoers or chineze swetshop workers". Before I was able to indicate my status as both a Human and an American, he says: "Cao ni ma!" He then immediately logs out. I quickly Googled the phrase and realized that it was quite an obscene term in Mandarin  (hence me putting it in reasonably smaller text). I bursted out laughing because it is ridiculous that a Autoer/Chinese Sweatshop Worker would have a combat level of 63, be clothed in full Saradomin, and have a Persian username for cripe sakes :XD:. Anyways, that was my odd happy/sad/funny day...new bank picture is up by the way (starting to accumulate funds as I have the time).

He's a Norwegian Elkhound :...a very special breed whose appearance looks like a cross between a German Shepherd and a Husky. They are pretty darn fluffy so any grooming trip takes between 2-4 hours. He's my first dog and I love him so...

Hey all, gained a mere 28k xp today...had an extremely busy day! Wasn't able to RuneScape too much due to having to take the dog to the vet for a general checkup and later take him for a 3 hour grooming session . As I always say, still is progress never-the-less. I didn't get the chance to catch the Harry Potter flick during the weekend but the family and I are planning to see it sometime this week :D!

Life Before Runescape
My life before RuneScape was surprisingly very similar to the way it is now. I am an avid gamer of many different types of game consoles. It would be fairly easy for me to start treating any of those earlier games I played as a drug and allow it to consume my life. This has never been the case. RuneScape has become more like an amazingly enjoyable hobby that is similar to my liking of playing soccer, reading my favorite book series, editing graphics in Photoshop, etc. To compare to what I still do/not do, here is the list: I still: I still eat every single meal during the day with my family (which a portion of RuneScape players may not do anymore), I still email and meet up with my friends throughout the year, I still achieve at least a 3.7+ gpa average on my report cards (preparing to start freshman year of college in the fall), and the most ironic of course being I still enjoy playing video games. I do not still: I do not still bite my nails like I use to for many years, I do not still burn things on the stovetop (watching Food Network has paid off :P), and I do not still let thick layers of dust collect in my room and on electronics (allergies finally got the best of me and I wipe the surfaces like crazy now). ^ Interestingly enough the do not list is a bit shorter than the still do list. Also, the whole do not list consists of things that are desirable to discontinue doing...quite interesting indeed. At the end of the day, each individual is affected differently. So we can not easily assume that life before such a game may have been more desirable/worse for some people. By the way, good topic! Made me think alot...

Would you do this?
Well since I am not a memb I cannot really contribute to this discussion fully, but if I became a memb (which hopefully will be a reality someday), I would give up the weekly updates for Jagex to work on a grander project. In a way being F2p leaves me in the position of suffering the "boredom" that the above posters mentioned regarding the plight of high level members. I still am able to gain more and more out of my gameplay in new or better ways. I personally would be very interested in the idea of Jagex piloting a RuneScape 3 or major overhauls over such period (if it occurs).

Ever do anything that makes people think you're nuts?
Powermining mithril and addy at the Lumby Swamps  ... Its such a release after powermining thousands and thousands of iron ores day after day ... Insane I know...but those who pick up the ores can't complain ! *If anyone ever refers to this post to get free mith or addy ores, I only powermine such stuff once in a blue moon, when I've had it to the brink with iron powermining.*

Funny lure attempt
Ummm. All Lurers are noobs :| Not really. Luring is a rather pathetic act and the word "noobish" would suit it. This is due to the fact that luring often engages the luree to pk when it is not usually their wish to do so. It is a very scummy way to gain money or items, almost as bad as scamming. Every part of it is noobish. Now if this was in the wild and a pker wanted to encourage a fellow pker to come in their direction to get the smack down, then that is perfectly acceptable.

Funny movie lines

Runescape fanfiction. The first?
Riger, taking the bad example of the frugal gold ore buyer, began scheming up a way in which he too could fool potential victims. He walked through Varrock square and heard the loud cries of the newspaper boy yelling "read all about it." Riger approached the newspaper boy and a paid a small fee to purchase the newspaper. "Viola," thought Riger, "I can deem this to be a rare newspaper and sell it for oodles of gp!" So Riger walked toward Varrock bank and began exclaiming: "Selling rare newspaper 100k - Riger." It was strenuous for Riger to keep yelling this at the top of his lungs so he quicky acquired an autospeaker. The autospeaker eminated from his mouth the same phrase over and over again: "Selling rare newspaper 100k - Riger." A warrior of very little level approached Riger and was eager to purchase this very unheard of but new rare. He offered 100gp for the worthless paper but Riger denied him the sale. All of a sudden, a warrior with a crown atop their head started walking toward Riger. The warrior said: "I am a player moderator. You are breaking the rules therefore I have muted you for a temporary period of time." Riger wanted to quip back with disgust but realised he was indeed mute. He frantically tried to say anything but no word came out of his lips...

hi, owr wait Hyt'z?
Well I'll wish you congrats on 95 then :P! Yes its true that a large majority are driven to the brink of madness when trying to achieve this goal. They lose hope and give up due to the enormity of it. The problem is people clock this skill or any other 99 too much. You got to let it be achieved at its own natural course of pace. Some days I powermine a mere 5k xp and think nothing more of it, others I powermine 80k+ xp. I'm not setting any goals to hit 99 mining in the next 2 months, 3 months, or 4 months. I'll give it all year if that's the way it'll go. Just do not lose hope, I'm glad to see you still going strong!

Lvl 82 Mining ACHIEVED!!! Achieving Level 82 Mining Screenshot After an 82k xp dash, another level of my journey was completed and a new one was achieved...82 (wow karma is scary, 82k xp 82 level, creepy  )! It was a very lovely way to end off my week :D. As always, going to take a break this weekend and barely touch my pickaxe. Hoping to catch the Harry Potter flick with my family if we get the chance. All I can say is that I am starting to gain more and more hope as each level is conquered. The challenge will start to become strenuous once I reach 85 and up but my confidence has not been deterred so far. Thank you blog readers for checking up on this blog every now and then, as well as posting your great support !

Lady Shahdie's Journey to 99 Smithing - MOVED TO THE BLOG TAB!
For your blog reading enjoyment, I will now describe: Lady Shahdie's Second Mock Rune Mining Run All pictures can be found inside the hide tags. Redemption, enough said... (Click Here for a Description of the First Trip) [hide=Take Two...Success or Failure?][/hide] And so began my journey...take two that is! This time I was equipped with the mighty weapons of friends (thanks Foo and John), knowledge, and experience. I reviewed many rune mining manuals and pawed through them like the bible (noting escape routes, use of light dhide, how much food to take, teleport points, non-multi combat zones, etc). I felt that it was time for some redemption and boy did I want it bad! We approached the wilderness ditch on world 133 and yet again with a hop and prayer I crossed along with them. The three of us ventured through the same surroundings that were too eerily familiar to me from last time. We discussed plans of action along the way and came up with strategies that may help in dire situations. I yet again walked past the sinister Evil Altar and approached the Lava Maze. [hide=A Bogie So Soon...][/hide] A bogie immediately blipped on our radars and we started high tailing it out of there, fearing for our sprites' lives. The menacing level 98 archer kept shooting his arrows into each of our backs with glee. He kept hot on our heels, following us all the way to level 20 wilderness. My friends teleported out and I quickly hit the log out switch. When I logged back into another world, they told me they had to call it quits for the day (due to being out of food or having to end their game session). They recommended that I wait to try again later so we could regroup, but I came too far to come home again empty handed. I gave them my thanks and ventured back to the Lava Maze...once again...alone. [hide=Finally Made it in One Piece...][/hide] After similar attacks by level 70-100 swordsmen, archers, and mages I finally hopped around enough worlds to make it to the rune rocks in one piece. The rocky outcrop was as barren as it was on my first trip. I logged out and selected the next world below, 119. Immediately I see the blue glowing ore emanating from the rocks and I was overjoyed. But wouldn't you know it, a white dot appears 2 seconds later and I immediately log out. As I went down the list of worlds, I was greeted with no ores or the same pking white dot. I had to think backwards to fool this white dot. I decided to jump upwards on the list this time and choose world 128. [hide=Success at Last...][/hide] Praise Saradomin, I had success at last. There before me were two rocks containing that precious ore and there was not a pker in sight. I was able for the first time to wield my pick and begin my simulated mining of the great glowing blue ore . I waited the 2 minute span that I had planned to wait last time and successfully simulated mining one rock. After this moment of glory, a pker showed up and I logged out with lightening speed. I breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that I would have at least one ore in my inventory now. I chose the 118 as my next world. Again I had been graced by the gods with another rocky outcrop containing rune ore. I was able to simulate mining both rocks without any hindrance. I felt I was on a roll after having 3 faux ores safely inside my inventory. [hide=A Lesson in Blog Advertising =P...][/hide] After rolling by a few worlds that contain no ore, I was back in the frying pan again when I came to a world with a trio of pkers surrounding the rune rocks. One of them clad in rune armor pursued me as I tried endlessly to hit log out. I knew this was my make it or break it moment. In order to call this mock trip a success, I would have to survive with the faux rune ore still intact and not dropped on the ground. I quickly ran through the rune mining manuals I studied in my brain. I remember a brilliantly written one that I found right here on the forums mentioned to run towards the ice warriors (a non-multi combat zone riddled with annoying ice plated knights). The rune swordsman still remained valiant in is his efforts to defeat me and gain a lovely treasure trough of precious ores. When I saw my character's feet hit the snow, I knew I was half way to salvation. I tried incredibly hard to get the swordsman to run into an ice warrior long enough for me to start hitting one. When he finally was taken over by an ice clad cretin, I swung my rune scimmy at another nearby. I laughed aloud and he responded "meh." I explained to him that I was doing a simulated mining setup and documenting it in my blog. He was a very nice fellow and we exchanged a couple nice words. I told him for this to be a success, I needed to make it out alive. He would be my challenge of survival. So after a few more minutes of grabbing far enough ice warriors to make a break for it, I turned run back on and darted out of the wilderness. He lost me around level 31 wild. [hide=I Can Now Call Myself a Rune Miner...][/hide] When I reached about level 20 wild, I was tempted to teleport out to make the trip easier. I decided instead to just walk all the way back to the ditch and save the runes for more dire times. As I crossed the ditch, a big smile spread across my cheek :D. Though I only managed to scrape together 3 faux ores, I still had survived with them intact inside my inventory. I understand this is nothing compared to the rune loads of the pros but at least I knew I could manage to do it too. This will be my last mock trip. I will plan the next one when I truly can do the real thing (85 Mining). Anyways, I feel I can now call myself... A Rune Miner

A strictly non-ranger's amazing achievement! Behold! Lvl 40 Range ACHIEVED!!! Achieving Level 40 Range Screenshot Though this goal was extremely small in proprotions (compared to my 99 mining goal), I can now wear light yet sturdy Dragon Hide armor! This will surely help me in my future mock and real rune mining trips to come. Frankly though I am glad to get out of that tacky brown leather armor and bank into my regal Saradomin :... In mining news, I gained 36k mining xp while chilling out in the Mining Guild last night. I might continue a little more chill out mining over there after the purchase of my handy new d-hide. 6:16 PM PST Edit: Gained another 34k xp leisure mining...
