  1. I don't approve of the search for popularity in RuneScape or real life. It shouldn't matter to have the masses look up to you. Trust is something gained when fellow players have seen you over a period of time being honest, hardworking, and kind to others. You still shouldn't try to act more kind or humble just to gain that though. Just be yourself. Trying to reform your way of socializing or looking for self-help advice is silly in my opinion. Also, as others have mentioned, being in that position can also be dangerous. Many people on Rs or real life may intentionally or unintentionally use you (maybe even deceive you).
  2. Don't be disparaged Samurai Lassie! You need to give your mind a bit of time to breath and take breaks. I wasn't so active leveling up my mining last week and was stuck at 74 mining. After reading your post some days ago I got my mining to 75 and now I'm just a mere 40-50k exp away from 76 :D (note: achieved as of 6/21/07 1:45 PM PST) ! Just remember that there is really no ticking clock and as competitive as you are with your friends, you got to let things just happen. Some days I really do not have a goal set in mind to achieve but it just happens I reach the next level that very day. Anyways, still wishing you lots of luck, you have much less a road to that 99 than I do at the moment (drolls over your 93 mining =P~ )...
  3. It doesn't entirely offend me. It depends the way in which they say their skill is better. The simple "I leveled to blank. Nice mine is blank" exchange wouldn't upset me or belittle me. But when they are the type that obnoxiously and rudely rub it in your face: "I leveled to blank. You noob I pwn your pathetic level blank, mine's blank," really peeves me more. Its best just to ignore jerks like that and enjoy your achievement never-the-less.
  4. Rs is meant to be a strategy-based game. Most RPGs are basically about stat and number crunching plus getting armor and lots of loot. Its just a different style of gameplay. As far as the "where, when, and what," what would you call quests then? Quests involve places to go (where), certain times in the quest you have to perform an action (when), and involve obtaining or meeting something (what). The only difference between the shooter game and Rs, is that it doesn't happen in live action but over a course of time. There are other scenerios in Rs where this also applies besides quests.
  5. Physically no videogame/computer game takes skill (its button mashing, key hitting, time clicking, etc.)...but as far as mental skill, rs does require a bit. Such as finding the most efficient ways to level up, determining weaknesses of different monsters or pkers, being thrifty at buying low and selling high, developing a sixth sense when it comes to guessing the next respawn times of various ores (my personal favorite :P), and many other things that require lots of strategy and diligence.
  6. Before reporting I would first try as best as I can to give a 1 minute grace period and politely ask "Are you all legitamate players?" If they do not respond within that 1 minute I would report those that are extremely likely to be macroers (such as people in the default green clothing, special events clothing, or have names like "vrrbv690").
  7. I'm surprised no one has said this yet but I guess its wishful thinking...I would like the ability to heal people and all their wounds. O:)
  8. You have my deepest sympathy! However, you got come to grips with the fact that we all start from somewhere. Children are naiive and just are very keen to figure out how to make the world revolve around them (not that far from the desires that some adults have). As far as being angered with the parents for not doing anything about certain situations (such as crying histerically), I completely say your anger is called for. But not enough to say that these parents shouldn't bring their tots in public! I think when kids start crying like that is because they are bored and the parents rarily are involving them with the activities going on. They feel like an object and hate it (hence the whole world-revolve-around-me-complex). When I'm babysitting my 5-7 year old cousins and take them somewhere, I try to get them involved with something. Like playing I-Spy and asking them to spy certain things while I continue with whatever I was doing. Its a moment distraction for me (due to being creative in choosing things to spy) but it is nothing compared to having to control an all out nervous breakdown! Anyways, since you are mostly dealing in an environment with kids and not really the actual parent there is less control in your hands. The best advice I could tell you is just to remember that it is not exactly the devil child's fault  ! Its a lack of effort from the parents to keep them stimulated, thus the child lets all you-know-what break lose...
  9. ^Smooth. Nice smooth dance moves! That guy can glide across the dance floor easy 8-) .
  10. Well ever since the Legend of Zelda I've been a crazed RPG addict. Just was googling top rated RPGs some 4-5 months ago and find RuneScape. Despite the average to lack luster graphics or other miniscule less enjoyable tidbits, I'm shocked of what I've been missing all these years  ... RPG crazed enough for you :XD: ?
  11. I'd love to take an ounce of your patience and add it to mine at the moment ...You have my total support my friend! I too hope for 99 mining so I understand the nerves of steel you've had to keep day-after-day hoping for that 99! Hope it flatters you a bit that you are one of my motivators at the moment to keep going for that 99. Best of luck, you will make it. Hope I can join you one day.
  12. I can't recall ever crying. I understand its mostly a game so I try not to get too emotionally attached. However... I might just occassionally smash my keyboard when something drastically unfortunate happens to my character. Lose too many keyboards that way!
  13. (Rating the F2p Forever Sig) 7.5/10 not bad photoshopping and lovely f2p stats : ...
  14. I remember one spot in particular where I would use to eat or pot up during the Elvarg battle. When you walk in through the gate to Elvarg's lair you will notice a little wall jutting out at the left. I'm not sure if you can shoot arrows over it but try your luck at that spot.
  15. Being an F2per heading/hoping to achieve 99 mining causes me to dream about getting a hold on one of those lovely little capes...however, at the same time I feel that the 99 is really going to satisfy me way more than the adornment I could possibly wear. The question of whether we F2pers deserve it is not at all one-sided. Effort wise it is definitely earned due to the extremely lengthy and harder training methods used in F2p. Money wise it does not terribly affect Jagex's profits yet does not increase them either. Reality wise any player that earns a 99 really does not need a cape to fully enjoy their amazing achievement. My stance on the matter is really more like a coin toss. I'm satisfied whether Jagex decides to provide or not provide the 99 capes to us F2pers.
  16. Well thank heavens I never have broken my wrist! But, if the unfortunate event ever happened to me, I doubt it would stop me from playing RuneScape... :D Think that would effect the healing process?
  17. Sorry to be a pile on to the popular argument but I definitely agree with the decision to ban with zero tolerance if the player is unquestionably and obviously breaking the rules (lets not forget the mentions that many 126s may desire to keep their public chat off). Despite players passing a certain grace period of playing the game over several months/years and not getting into any trouble till this moment, if the player were not banned then it would exhibit an extremely noticeable double standard. Zero tolerance is really the only way to go due to the player having learned by now that autoing or rulebreaking is never acceptable. Honestly if a lvl 126 or any high lvl player makes that decision it is not only a rule violation but a blatant slap in the face after achieving many hopefully legitamate lvls.
  18. The first thing I did as a newbie was walk endlessly towards the west of Lumbridge all the way to Port Sarim and Falador. I was unaware or ignoring the fact that every player comes equipped with a free telly spell back to Lumbridge so I spent the first week completely lost...I mean exploring the vast expanses of RuneScape! Eh heh...
