  1. Granted, and it goes off while sharpening it shooting you dead. I wish I had a staff containing all rune elements.
  2. My story comes in the form of a dream I had once. Don't stop reading now as this is truly a scary one. The actual dream was a lot longer and I have condensed it. Dream---- I'm in school, it looks just like it did when I was in first form. I have my watch on, it has a blue face and white hands. There's someone chasing me with a medieval axe. A big axe, shiny and silver, there's also speakers everywhere affecting all the others around me, turning them mental, they all have axes too. Looking at my blue watch it's home time so I walk home in a long coat keeping me dry from the rain. I get home and all I see is an axe in front of my face.... I woke up. I was cold, the wind had picked up and was blowing my curtains inwards. That must have been affecting my dream. Believe me that scared the life outta me, and I was dying to use the loo. So I found myself sitting on the loo having a wee and I noticed my blue watch on the side of the bath, obviously I took that off last thing before I went to bed and that's how it got into my dream. And then I thought, I can't remember where I got it. I don't have a blue watch, and the moment I figure that out, an axe appears in front of my face.. This time I really did wake up. Dream end---- The worst thing was, when I woke up, I was cold, the wind had picked up and was blowing my curtains inwards. exactly like when I woke in my dream. That scared the hell outta me.
  3. Myself I could initially design evil as pure hate. It's quite a human philosophy as nothing in the animal kingdom can ever be classed as Evil per say. I feel like spiders are evil as they creep me to death, but they ain't evil really. Spiders are just another species that is so different to my own I find them scary, not Evil. The Devil is an icon for pure evil, but since that doesn't exist, or not in the form we think it does, that is not applicable either. I guess if I look at it deeper, evil is all around us in our modern day lives. It's probably a roman invention called money. It's down to the want and desire for money that drugs, slavery, sex trafficking and murder etc is so rife in our world. But where would we be without it? We could barter for goats, wooden items and food I guess. Go figure.
  4. The A+ comes in 2 parts: Hardware: This obviously covers all aspects of your computers hardware, including fault diagnosis. So you will be required to have a good knowledge of PC hardware new and old, as well as the POST diagnostic beep codes. Operating system: Windows only here. But what version your exam will cover is not known. You will have to have a good knowledge of XP Home and Pro. especially the network side, how to perform data transfers, how to diagnose driver problems and an idea what BSOD codes mean. I took the A+ a few years back, I found it very easy and I am proud to say that I got the 2nd highest mark the test centre had seen. But don't think it's easy, another tech who is quite experienced, took the test on the same day as me failed. My biggest advice is to study the questions carefully. Here's an example: A user wants to upgrade their CPU to a Pentium Dual core 2.4. and 8Gb of Ram for the minimum of cost. They have already backed up all their data and their current system is: CPU: P4 2.0 PGA. Memory: 2GB (2 X 1Gb DDR1) PSU: 400W Graphics: Onboard. OS: Windows XP Pro 32Bit. Tick all below that do not apply: [ ] Replace CPU and Memory. [ ] Replace CPU, Memory and run the XP Repair to update the HAL. [ ] Replace CPU, Memory, PSU and Motherboard. [ ] Replace CPU, RAM and install XP 64 Bit. The answer to the above would be to tick them all, as none of them are the correct answer. Also, it's sometimes easy to miss that they asked you for the wrong answer. The correct answer would be: *Replace Motherboard (Presently it's a PGA socket, Dual cores are LGA). *Replace CPU (Obviously). *Upgrade Memory (Dual cores use DDR2 so the old ram is not compatible). *Install Windows XP 64 bit (32 bit OSs cannot address 8Gb GB of memory). The above is quite typical of A+ questions. My best advice is to get as much hardware and OS experience as you can. Get some old PCs that people are throwing out and build and rebuild them. Take things out and see what happens. Install windows and network them together. Share out folders and printers and see what happens if you start turning off various windows services. in other words, Break the OS and see if you can get it running again. in fact, break the hardware too. And never, ever, open a PSU. Switch mode power supplies are death traps if you don't know what you're doing. Good luck and if you need any advice, let me know. Clare. P.S. You might want to Google for old A+ exams, there's a few online that may help.

I am perfect, and imperfect. I am nowhere and everywhere. I am the light and the dark, the night and the day. And no I cannot loan you fifty bucks okay. Nothing is perfect, except for chocolate. 2004, Clare Jonsson.
  6. White wine all the way for me, unless I'm on a girls night out then it's Vodka and coke.
  7. If something makes me happy or feel good then I obviously will like it. Alternately, if something makes me sad or hurts me, the I will dislike it. No science there, just my thoughts! Or is it those little flying monkeys? Talking of monkeys, I found this error one day: error. It's them darned monkeys again!
  8. Did you say 2 Gig sticks? does that mean you have put 2 X 2Gig sticks in and have just upgraded to 4Gig?
  9. I second that, especially if you're new to coding. With Gamemaker you're able to quickly knock up a game using drag and drop, but when you get bored of that, it has it's own language which allows you to create more complex games, including some 3D stuff. By the way, here's something I wrote using Gamemaker: http://www.berzerk.co.uk/berzerk2005/ It's a basic upgrade of an old Arcade game called Berzerk, and was what I used to test Gamemaker and how easy it was to use. If you want more of a challenge then you could try Fenix. With Fenix you can write games for various platforms such as: Win32, Linux, MacOS, BSD, BeOS, GP32, GP2X, Dreamcast and PS2. Have fun!
  10. I'm an atheist. But it's not my fault, it's just the way god made me. To be honest I don't believe in a god per say, I believe that if there is such a thing, then it's in all of us. We as a people have the ability to make the world a better place, but it's mainly because of different religions that we have had so many wars that are still going on to this day. To quote somebody famous "Why can't we just all, get along?"
  11. A simpler way would be to make a shortcut of the program and then the icon selection option will be there for the shortcut.
  12. Actually that's quite wrong, I have found that a LOT of games intended for 95 will not run on XP. There are a lot of issues mainly to do with how games address hardware such as audio, video and joysticks. Remember all those IRQ and Base IO settings for audio? Windows 95 (and 98) was still based on DOS (DOS 7 I think) And as such 99% of those games were little more than DOS based games. DirectX was in it's infancy in those days and not many companies used it as a game written naively for DOS was a lot faster. Take a look at Quake etc. You might have better luck using something like DosBox or Virtual PC. Addition: Now if your game doesn't run or it has problems like the sound is choppy etc. Try looking for updates. A lot of people are writing their own game engines that sometimes update the game. Take Doom or Quake I for instance, there are now Win32 versions of these games written by 3rd parties that even improve on the graphics by using your 3D hardware. I think there's a Win32 LBA!
  13. Vista isn't that bad. =P~ I'll echo skatedog Never said it was bad, there's no doubt it's a good OS. But, in my opinion it's nothing that's worth the resources it uses. To be perfectly honest, if you have a PC that windows was designed for it is less of a resource hog than you may imagine. Here's a little for instance: The use of the desktop in XP and non Aero Vista is all bitmaped and uses CPU and system RAM. If you can run the Vista Aero theme which means you have a good enough graphics card, the desktop and windowing is nearly all controlled in hardware by the graphics card freeing up your RAM and CPU for the things you really need them for. I see people saying things like: Well I ran Vista on the most basic bitmap desktop and it was oh so slow, I can't imagine how slow it will be with the Aero Theme. Well actually it's faster because of the above. As a point of interest, my Vista boot runs smoother than my XP boot on exactly the same hardware. Please don't say that I should try Linux then as I also have Ubuntu on another HDD which I can boot to by changing the boot device order in the BIOS, and I don't consider Linux to be viable for the applications I want to run. Linux is in my opinion better if you want to run a server, but we're all entitled to opinions aren't we 8-).
  14. if you're using a router then some routers have an option for content filtering etc. I know my netgear one has something that I can sign up to, the router then blocks the sites.
  15. OK this question has been asked before, take a peek at This Thread.
