Jagex should re-release rares
ALSO Your basically asking Ferrari to make their cars in Japan now too so that the prices wont be as high to afford one... lol

Jagex should re-release rares
I hate to plug my own thread... but I think they should add a second currency for the higher leveled players. This would bring the prices back down on things like partyhats. Think of it in these two ways; -You can buy a soda with 100 pennies or 1 dollar -When one nations currency inflates, the other nations dont change. It only means that the first nation will need more of its currency to trade with the others' currency.

Accurate Drop Rate for Visages At Frosts
So from the sound of things, a script that would gather information like -total kills -drop rates -xp p/hr rates -kills p/hr -etc Those would all be acceptable?

Fixing the Issue
wont matter if it gets to the point where they take away free trade and wildy again. Or even worse, they move their efforts to mechscape and leave runescape to rot. While comments like "they lower prices" are TRUE theyre also narrow-sided and only refer to the short term. Lets play hypothetical! Botting only gets worse; -Yew logs drop to 100 each -Sharks drop to 200 each -Phats go 2x above max cash -Santas get to 1bil Ive seen what happens in other games when items get so rare/costly that they cant even be traded with using the coins/currency and its not fun. We're trying to come up with ideas that not only get rid of the surplus of bots, but fix the reason bots are even needed in the first place. Im sure everyone can agree having the same xp rates from lvl 60-99 is kind of annoying. Summoning/Herblore are two skills in my opinion that do a good job trying to avoid this. while it gets more expensive to train, the xp rates are still MUCH faster as you lvl. Thats how it should be.

Accurate Drop Rate for Visages At Frosts
It makes me wonder if we (those who dont bot) could design an app that could document our kills and drops and then compile it into an easy to understand thing like they have. It wouldnt do anything other than count kills. Does anybody know Jagex's stance on add-ons like that? I know WoW has them so long as they dont actually do anything for you.

Accurate Drop Rate for Visages At Frosts
I was curious what the drop rate was for visages according to kids on the forums so I did a quick google search. To my suprise one of the first sites to come up was a botting site (I dont think im allowed to state the name of said site but I will if permitted to do so and if you guys are curious) Anyways the answer to my question was in one of the guys' signatures. I guess its some sort of counter that shows all of the loot gained from everyone using that particular frost dragon bot. So the simple math is 2760981/258 (bones aka kills/visages) and you get 1:10,701. Seems logical right? Thought id share this since even though it is an unfortunate way of deriving the rate its still the only actual concrete numbers we have. On a side note, thats; -36 phats -407 santas -2,345 Bandos chest plates/tassets -52,120 whips Roughly. Anyways figured you guys might like to know since drop rates have always been something of interest.

Fixing the Issue
I guess thats one (very large and complicated) way of making the game interesting again for higher levels. I wonder if even just adding a different currency for higher level players to trade/use would change the outcome. That way lower level players get rsgp and higher level players (who need more coins for their gear respectively) could use this other currency. That would keep gear from being 500m for a chestplate. Its like in international trades where when one countries currency hyper inflates the others dont go down with it. Itll just mean more of X currency will be needed to equal Y currency. Maybe its time for Jagex to add a currency that cant be botted (or even bought) into the game to try and maintain stability for the rsgp. By not being able to be botted I mean more like DG tokens and NOT like tokkul and trading sticks (since those are bottable). Food for thought.

Fixing the Issue
Ive always wondered what would happen if jagex gave higher lvls literally a new land to play on kind of like what blizzard does with wow on every expansion. It would allow for the higher lvls to train and get faster xp rates while somewhat seperated from the lower lvl players. But it would allow for jagex to remove the grind in a way since it would break it up that much more. Also when you finish your idea and make a suggestion thread for it let me know and ill support it

Fixing the Issue
If you think thats true then find a way for them to remove bots and still profit from it. Im definately brainstorming

Fixing the Issue
The bots inject their client into the games actual java coding. So if you do tests to look for that injection it will flag them and not let them in. Also tests while they play would be good since you do raise an interesting point. I dont know how it would effect the lags on the servers, since it would only test a fraction of the people online at any one time, not all at once.
-
Fixing the Issue
They apparently do the injection test on people suspected for botting as part of their "bot detection" system but im not sure if thats just a rumor or not. If they do already do that why not just run the test every time somebody logs in right?

Fixing the Issue
Before I ask my question I want to share two stories with you guys. Storytime 1; [hide]Before Runescape I played alot of other MMORPG's; if there was a "new" game out there I was trying it out. One of the games I played ran on Sun-Java (Very similar to Habbo Hotel). I remember hearing about this program you could run along side of the game that would allow you to read all of the server/client side information going on behind the scenes. The program was offered on shady sites similar to the botting forums runescape struggles with but being curious about how games worked I still checked it out. At the time I got ahold of the program people were using it to hack the game so that they could do stupid but harmless things like walking in the air or being able to go through walls. I remember somebody had figured out a way to trick the game on the clientside to make a "burnt lobster" (ill use RS items to make it easier to understand) look like a "partyhat". Since this was only on the clientside and no real harm was being done to the actual game nobody was getting in trouble for it. I took the work they had done and made a bigger improvement to it so that you could make the "burnt lobster" into any rare/expensive item in the game (again, clientside so it was just a fake and only you could see it as the rare, everyone else still saw it as a burnt lobster). Doing that got me alot of credit amungst the others in that community and I got to talk to alot of the other dev's via AIM and MSN. One of the times we had a group chat going one of the other guys had figured out a new trick. He figured out how to temporarily glitch the SERVERside into thinking the "lobster" was really a "partyhat" too. This would let you trade the "burnt lobster" AS a "partyhat" to other players for their REAL rare items and then once they logged out and logged back in the item would turn back into the Burnt lobster and theyd realize the partyhat wasnt real. So being curious we all met up ingame with him and traded each other to see if it worked and it did (unfortunately). All of a sudden the harmless little glitches that I was used to doing turned into a potential scam tactic. He had given the script to all of us that were in the group chat to look at and thats where it went wrong. I dont know what happened after that but I think one of the people shared it with a friend, and then they shared it with their friends and then before you know it the script was leaked on all of the forums. At first you could tell who was using it in their trades because theyd be selling a "partyhat" for "full rune". The offers were too good to be true and thats usually what gave it away. Soon though everyone had gotten ahold of the script probably out of frustration from getting scammed with it and the game developers not banning anybody for it. Now literally EVERY trade you made was a scam, there wasnt anybody actually doing a legit trade, it was all fakes. Eventually all the legit players quit out of anger and resentment towards the game developers for not doing anything. Then the game creators just shut the game down. I actually enjoyed playing that game and never meant to cause any harm to it, I just enjoyed the harmless little glitches like walking through walls and what not. Now, this game was MUCH smaller than RS so it didnt take long for it to turn to chaos but I think sadly RS is turning in that direction. Whether it takes a few months or a year I think the issue at hand could get so out of control that Jagex will have a hard time taking care of it.[/hide] Storytime 2; [hide]Another game was Maplestory as im sure a handful of you have played. This game ran into a much bigger problem where people were able to hack the game and force all of the monsters in the area into a 1x1 square and then multi-attack them in order to train from a distance. Since they were farcasting essentially they never took any damage and were able to train 24/7. Imagine being on a dustdevil task and having some kid there hacking the game so that all the dust devils were in one square and they were barraging them and ruining the game for everyone else, thats what happened. It got so out of control that the dev's of Maplestory did a mass ban, temporarily shut the game down, and then came back up with a new system that made sure you werent running any hacks before letting you into the game. This defeated the problem.[/hide] So theres two different approaches to handling a similar problem. One is shutting the game down and giving up (or removing free trade and wildy), and one was a very aggressive approach to target the rule breakers and only the rule breakers. Lets look at the solutions theyve used thus far; -Banning botters This only makes a difference in the short-term and doesnt do anything long-term. -Updating the bot detection system With every update here, the bot devs just make another update to counteract it. -Removing free trade/wildy This worked a little, it got rid of the gold farming bots but not the regular players from botting. Jagex needs a different tactic with combating the bots. The Removal of Free Trade DID work but it hurt the rest of the scaper community. They need methods that will remove the bots without hurting the rest of us. Other Solutions (things ive seen around the other threads); -Add less grind to the game. This would give the regular players less reason to bot as there would be fun and more rewarding methods of training. -Test/scan for injection EVERY time a person logs in. This would get rid of a TON of the bots since alot of them run on injection (I think they use injection still) -Continue with the bot hunts. Its a decent way to combat the popular botting spots. -Add more untradeables to the game If people needed gold less and needed to just play the game to acquire untradeable content, it would defeat the need for rwt sites selling so much gold. Whats everyones thoughts? Obviously Jagex makes way too much money to consider shutting the game down but where do we go from here? We need methods other than banning bots and updating the random events and other botting detections they have in place now. How do we remove the need for gold. How do we remove the grinding, making the need for bots to do tedious tasks obsolete. Wheres the happy median between having free trade and wildy and NOT having free trade and wildy? All questions We and Jagex need to look into. Rather than complaining and turning on Jagex we need to suggest solutions; if they dont take any of the suggestions THEN complain about it. Spend more time in the Suggestions section of these forums rather than the RANTS section.

RoW drop
They were dropped a bit on the first day, and then i think jagex nerfed it into the crapper.

Micro Transactions vs. Bots...
Thats interesting... Basically beating out the already existing private servers. Otherwise Id like to see jagex add more untradeable content into the game to basically destroy the need for coins in the first place. Look at WoW, they have "bind when equip" which means as soon as you put it on you cant trade it anymore. Or even better "bind when picked up" which means you cant trade it once you pick it up. Both ways makes the game more fun in my opinion. Life in RS as it is now; -You can mine... coal until you can afford full bandos. (or RC, or fishing or whatever) You basically can grind in order to afford gear. Life in RS if it had more untradeables; -Youd HAVE to go kill bandos in order to GET gear. -You couldnt just "Buy" a skill. There would be faster, non tradeable ways of training smithing, crafting, cooking (already fast), etc. Im not talking more failed minigames, although that does help. Im talking about mining new ores that you cant trade, so you HAVE to smith them. stuff like that. Obviously they wouldnt change GWD or the other bosses, but for future bosses/slayer monsters etc they should make the drops nontradeable. That way they could release new armour for lvls 1-99 without really hurting the economy (some people would rather just buy rune than fight a monster for a different kind of armor for the same lvl) Food for thought, but I think the right approach is to decrease the need for gold in the first place. In WoW you dont even CONSIDER buying gold most of the time because everything you ever need comes right from your drops. The only time I needed to buy gold was at the end of the game when I needed a rediculous amount of money to buy my flying mount (they lowered the price for it now so theres even less reason to buy gold)

I think Last_to_Know has a good point, having the official judges vote one more time for one of the three would be good. Ill pm them about it, Or since they all did technically win we could ask them what theyd like; a revote or to split for 1.3m each. :S such a weird situation lol

World Queueing and Instances - 21-Jun-2011
-If you drop an item in the instanced world, does it work just like it would in a regular world. -Can you trade others while there. -If you disconnect I imagine you cant get back into that instanced location? The reason I ask is for future updates they might use this with. Cool idea, seems kind of like they copied WoW and their updated dungeon team que system. Cant wait to see them use this for things like boss hunting and maybe higher lvl content dg resource dungeons. Wouldnt this type of instanced environment be alot like dungeoneering? Or is this alot more complex due to the fact that it combines everybody on every world and sends them all to another world (not just a place on the same world like dungeoneering)

~Cowboy14's Pixel Art Tutorial~
Open up your progress, print screen, paste it in a new paint window and then crop it so only your progress is showing. Then save it as something different. Thats what I do as a last resort and it ALWAYS works.

~Cowboy14's Pixel Art Tutorial~
Paint bugs out sometimes for me too :S If its the same problem im thinking of. You select a color and no matter how many different times you try to select a custom color it gives you some weird color you dont even ask for like lime green, light blue, etc. I usually just close paint and reopen it.

Ok with your mountains I want the lightest to be in the back and the darkest to be in the front. My coloring method isnt really meant for brown mountains its for when you have color mountains (green, blue, etc). Edit your comment with the updated version of the mountains and we'll go from there :) EDIT: I shaped the mountains a bit and did the colors for you if you want to use this and work off it instead your free to do so :)

My vote goes to Iglw. It may have some human anatomy issues and the dragon may not look as fierce as it could be but its got the most detail in it out of all the entries IMO. Its got attention to detail in even the little places :)
