  1. In my dorm next year there's going to be one shower and one toilet for every cluster of 8 kids. I should have some interesting stories, to say the least....

I've probably taken the MBTI at least a dozen times out of curiosity or for psych class. Always get ENTJ which describes me very well. One time I got ESTJ once though.

scumbag school. Gives you free laptop. must use windows 8. I wish it was free.... @bonez i'll definitely look into that, i'm having a really tough time getting past the Metro interface. it's not worth messing around with the laptop to try and downgrade, so that may be a good balance.

I got a new laptop for school. The laptop itself is really nice, but the Windows 8 UI is so counter-intuitive, ugh.
  5. ^ Yeah, I'm doing some laptop shopping for college, and like half of the new ones advertise the fact that they have touch screens. I can't really think of any scenarios where I would want to navigate a laptop via touch screen.

Trying to figure out what placement tests I need to complete and what classes I'll need to sign up for for college will be the death of me.

Huh, I didn't even know they were doing that program.
  8. More people wanting to buy Xboxes. I'm sure it's a turn-off for quite a few people who would normally be interested in purchasing an Xbox that you have to pay to use something you already pay for. Who buys an Xbox just to watch Netflix? Nobody? I'm saying that it's probably a deciding factor for some people when considering whether to spend their money on an Xbox or a Playstation. Also Alg could you calm down dude? Jeez

  10. Haha, I watched an episode of that show a couple nights ago. At first I thought it was absolutely horrible just like you're thinking (and I still kind of do) but once you get past the fact that so much of it is scripted its kind of fun just thinking about the clues and mystery itself. It's so dumb how they all seem utterly terrified of being "killed" though.

I want to do something with psychology, preferably within the Industrial/Organizational field. I'll realistically have to be in school for at least a masters degree in it though, so things could very well change.

Got my AP scores for this year back a bit early (got em from my college): 5 on Psych, 4s on Lit, Euro, and Environmental Science, and a 3 on Stats. I'm absolutely thrilled, all the scores meet my college's AP requirements meaning I get full college credit for each of the tests. :D
  13. Luckily he's gone... for now.
  14. What do you mean you've never met anyone you've liked? I could've sworn you posted previously about stuff you did with your friends, and you seemed to at least tolerate them. Regardless, I suppose that's in the past. In my opinion, not having friends is not at all a valid reason to not want to live. Live to make yourself happy, period. I'm sure you'd be able to make friends since you have previously, but it's probably better to take things one step at a time. As you grow more comfortable with yourself as you are, friends will be more likely to come sooner or later. As I see it there are a few ways you could deal with this situation, some obviously more ideal than others. The most important thing would be to make sure you don't hurt anyone, be it your dad, someone else, or you. It's best not to make any decisions with drastic, permanent consequences for a situation that has the potential to be temporary. Assuming you do have schizoid personality disorder, or something similar, I think it's best to deal with the situation in an objective way -- by that I mean recognizing that it's a set of mental and behavioral issues that can be treated in a variety of ways, be it with therapy or medication. A lot of people deal with the same issues. My dad's a mental health counselor and sees all sorts of people with problems like that, and worse, and many of them eventually are able to dig themselves out of the hole they're in. To keep it simple, I'm saying that I think you're more likely to feel better and fix your current scenario by means of medical/counseling intervention than by running away and trying to make money without a job. By first treating what is likely to be an underlying personality disorder, more options will eventually open up to you. For example, you currently can't tolerate having anyone being the "boss" of sorts of you. This could change by altering your personality for the better via counseling/medication, which would in turn give you the opportunity to get a job, which would give you even more chance at independence. I'm kind of rambling now, but yeah. Do you have any relatives, acquaintances, or anyone else close to you that you tolerate that could help you out? If you explain your situation I guarantee they'll try to help you one way or another.
  15. New York City? I'm quite unfamiliar with apartment costs, especially on the other side of the country, but I can tell you that 1 to 2k probably isn't going to get you anything for any significant amount of time. You're also not really going to be able to maintain paying rent without a job unless you're about to get into serious illegal activity. Why wouldn't you be able to get a job? All this is somewhat irrelevant however, because there's definitely underlying problems you need to take care of first. I'm not a therapist or a doctor, so don't take my advice 100%, but the fact that you tried to kill yourself makes me urge you to go to a hospital, a mental health facility, or a relative or a friend's house ASAP. You just need to go to a safe place so whatever threats you seem to be facing at home are taken care of. Did you ever talk to your school counselor? I remember you posting about that a month or two back.

I also saw Man of Steel today. It was well-made and everything I guess, I just didn't personally enjoy it much. It felt very Transformers-esque in the sense that it was all BOOM EXPLOSIONS AHHH LOUD NOISES CONSTANT ACTION to the point where it was so over the top I was just zoning out and got pretty bored of it.

I just got back from my lil' roadtrip to Warped which was yesterday. It was loads of fun, and I didn't really even get sunburned. I mostly went for The Story So Far, and they were great. Got to talk to them for a bit during their signing too.
  20. I hate that, especially when it seems like it looked fine in the store and looks bad at home. Damn you, H&M lighting....

The moderation of LOTPW was horrible, and it's a shame. I loved that thread and the people in it. But the mods got so hung up on needing to remove spam for the sake of it being spam, despite it not hurting anyone, that they eventually just got fed up and decided to constantly police the thread and turned themselves into big scary authority figures. It was a [bleep]ing thread in an obscure subforum of a runescape off-topic board, it was literally bothering no one. But I've come to expect no less from certain members of TIF's moderation team after all these years.
