  1. I'd test with a friend in a remote area, make sure I wasn't dreaming, report the bug to jagex, bank, and see if anyone was abusing it, report them, and then try to distract them for a while :P Actually I might not come back to fally. I will say that I'm a skiller and will hardly ever members pk, although I will hang out watching it with a dds so that I dont just get rpk'ed for no reason (I'll pk nonmembers every once in a while, but that's like once or twice a year at most-mainly because the loot is less and they are often losing much less in my eyes. Whip does not equal rune scim in amount of time worked to get it.). I'd be scared to lose my 1511 (at the time) total, and the 2 years of work I've put into my account (some messing around in there :P)
  2. Quite a good article, and you deserved the character wipe. I find the idea of using a macro repulsive to myself-any level I don't gain myself is a level I didn't deserve, and any level I dont deserve I feel I dont deserve. Hey, according to the article it's my victory, but I'm not entirely guilt free. I lured once about 2 years ago, luring a level 8 with pretty good stuff into the deep wildy and killing him. I also owe a friend who quit about 500 irits, and since he's quit it's on my conscience that I can't pay him back. Other then that I'm pretty guilt free. No black marks, reported quite a few macro'ers... Oh, and to the person who said that runescape was ruined from the start-It wasn't. Back then macro use wasn't as widespread. Also, back then people were more likely to report someone for breaking the rules. However, they were like the people in some multiplayer games that're skill based who use a 1 hit k.o. weapon that shoots a very thin, nearly invisible shot that travels fast (think sniper style weapons) who shoot and miss you by a little bit each time, and accuse you of modding your end to not get hurt. If you were a faster miner who didn't talk bc you were powermining, then they'd accuse you of autoing (I was a pretty fast tin/copper miner who got accused of autoing a few times back then when I was 1-hit mining tin/copper, but I just talked and they stopped :P).
  3. Did you forget how the VM is like a computer on your computer? I explained that in a roundabout way, I didn't actually say it outright (never looked at it that way, but it could be interpreted as such). Sun Java is what Java is, MS Java is Microsoft's version (I think it might've been made by Sun, but I'm not sure). Knowing Microsoft, they probubly made it work streamlined on the computer it came bundled with but not as well with other computers. I don't worry about this stuff since I'm using a Mac with OSX 10.2.8 and Mac just bundles the Mac version of Java for your OS with the other drivers Mac bundles on. If I ever need an update I'll just switch the computers that I have on the fast connection. Just a note: Sun Microsystems is the company that created Java, and they are the ones who add new main packages of stuff onto it. Anything you do with MS Java origionated with Sun Java :)
  4. So they made an attempt to fix a problem they couldn't.... It's certainly better then creating a problem from one that didn't exist. Sorry, Jagex still beats our presidents any day imho :P
  5. Java VM is what makes Java run on your computer unless I'm remembering wrong, and I'm sure it's part of java updates. It stands for Java Virtual Machine, that I do know. Alright, for all of those who dont want to read a long winded explination, just skip over this part, although you'll be worse for it (and wont understand it :P) Java is a higher language. There are several "layers" of languages, and as you go up you program less and get less efficent. If I was programming Binary, I would be programming a lot more then if I was to program in machine code. If I was to program in machine code, it could take several lines to achieve what I could in a higher language that has pointers (more control over how RAM is used). If I program in Java, I dont even have to bother with assigning pointers. Now for a bit of how this works: When you compile code it's checked over to make sure it has no errors by a program called a compiler, and then it's (usually) turned into machine code behind the scenes so that it can run on your computer. When you compile Java however, it is just checked-it essentially stays Java. Whenever you run something in Java, the JVM interprets it and makes it work. So the JVM is essentially what runs Java, unless something has changed-it does come with Java updates, but I believe the essence difference is that you cannot compile java code on a computer that only has the JVM. ---- Of course, I might be wrong on some of those things. Someone hit me on the hand and tell me what I'm wrong on if I am wrong on anything, I might've left out some things or gotten my facts wrong, it's been nearly a year since I last learned this (although I still do some java programming).
  6. Enakhras' Mine There's also 2 coal rocks here :) [pokemama 1 march 2007: confirmed 2 coal rocks are present in this mine, need mapper to fix]
  7. Although I'm an rsc product, I dont have verification-I quit for several years (still a noob at that point-it was in late 2001-as nobody in rl that I knew played and I wasn't great at making friends in rs) and rejoined just after rs2 started-meaning I missed all the drops that would prove it :\ I can lay claim to getting killed while pking was still everywhere while on my way to varrok, but not loads else. Meh, I just wont join, save you all from the trouble of listening to me :P
  8. I will say that I dont blame durial entirely-for one, he's a teenage boy, and I know from experience (I am one) that many teenage boys do rash things (at least from what the rat says before the interview). However, I can say that it is HIS fault. He is the only truely responsible party in this, as he was given the choice to report the bug to Jagex, but didn't. I CAN say that I would have been tempted to do the same thing, I can also say that I wouldn't have. I'm not a pker, for more then one reason-I know the feeling of losing items that you've spent ages getting, and I dont want to inflict that upon others. In the end, it is durial's fault, and nobody elses, that he took those actions. However, if Jagex had follow their normal policy of keeping the temptation to scam or abuse bugs at a minimum, in this case by not releasing carpentry until months later, then this wouldn't have happened. To the "fishing for pmod status" guy: First off, being a pmod would be too much responsibility for ickle me :) Second off, ON A FANSITE? Last I checked Jagex -doesn't support fansites-, and I dont think they're too happy with tip.it after the security breach a few weeks ago.
  9. To build it, but not to go through it. You need ancient magicks to cast the teleport, so it makes sense that you'd need to have access to them.
  10. Maybe they made it like that on purpose? Maybe to make sure everybody could visit the taxidermist to stuff their trophies? thats a good point actually but seeing lvl 3's getting big sharks stuffed? hmm...... What can I say, autoers should be able to show off too X.X Lol, jk.. Wasn't it possible to go there if you had 65 agility anyways? :\
  11. The discount for barrows is .05x*R, where x is your smithing level and R is the repair cost. I'll bring something from the official forums over: If you just get to 55 construction by collecting your own oaks and planking them, then you will start to recover money from recharges at: Smithing level 38 to 41 - 11 repairs Smithing level 42 to 45 - 10 repairs Smithing level 46 to 51 - 9 repairs Smithing level 52 to 58 - 8 repairs Smithing level 59 to 68 - 7 repairs Smithing level 69 to 82 - 6 repairs Smithing level 83 to 99 - 5 repairs Thanks to Helios Gamos for that information :) Something I find useful is the tablets: once I can make a house teleport, I'll be able to use 1 invent space to teleport to my house, recharge prayer, and return to whatever I was doing (for instance, barrows if I install a canafis portal :)
  12. If this is gunna become a sort of name the P.O.H. related scams post, then I'll bring up one that someone tried to pull on me (I had an antipoison ;P) The house person brings you, himself and a friend in to a combat ring for a "fun fight". Both him and his friend attack you, usually one with a dds. Owner boots you right before you die so that you'll die outside the house. You die, losing your items-I almost died, I was at 3 hp and drank the anti. There have been posts on the official rs forums, one guy says he lost a blue mask this way.
  13. I wouldn't mind having a open access house, even when I wasn't there. I think that "open" houses should be an option, although I think that they way they're coded doesn't allow for that (I think the house rebuilds itself as a temporary area when the owner enters, and then when they leave it "unbuilds" itself until the owner re-enters it, which is why the loading time is longer for houses then the normal loading pls wait screens ;P General clan support would be nice, and if they ever get around to implimenting it (they had promised it by a month ago last year, along with P.O.H.s) it would be quite useful.
  14. I'll give advice, directions, or tell people tricks and tips that not everyone knows (most are common knowledge among the higher levels). I'll tele-other lumby for the runes or the cost of said runes (I'm cheap, I cant afford to waste 1k everytime someone wants to be at lumby without dying). I wont lead you from ardy to camelot when I'm going for 60 theiving :P ^that was the last time I was asked to take someone somewhere. I told him exactly how to get there, where to walk and everything. I feel it's the higher players responisibility to give back what help they got on the way (I got quite a bit from tip.it :P) at least two times over :) So I'm still giving advice, and helping people, sometimes giving out stuff when i get lucky in some way (good drops or the like-I've given out lavas from abberants, but I'm not too lucky elsewhere :/). I'm not leading people around however. Too much of my precious time.... ---- Slightly off topic, but a level 108 was refusing to use his own food and kill other thazzar when I was dharvoking there... For some reason it really got under my skin. I can see why higher levels have a bad name...
  15. Only place 1 def pures are good is the wildy with friends, or in f2p. Duel arena-you can't bring friends, and you dont need to worry about losing expensive armour. On the other hand, god spells are just good imo, I beat my level 100 friend with them (although he has nooby 51 mage :P) while casting in rune ;)
  16. I got to 40 ranged on the guards near black knights on my main :P Oh, and: If you raise your mage up, it -will- help. Magic defense is your mage and your defense averaged out :) Those mages will waste less of your food ;) And you'll have higher hp. -------------- I'm currently making a pker for f2p, although not a pure-i'm aiming for 40-60-40 with 60+ ranged and 59 mage, and am trying to keep my hp down to compensate :) If i keep my hp above the point that I can be 1 hit, but below the average, I still gain more offensive capabilities without losing an edge-i'm a practiced no-prayer dharvoker :P It's not good if you lag however.
  17. Nothing wrong with older girls  Nah, I'm joking... It's kinda pitable how stupid these people are...
  18. I looked like I had stolen some armour from the rouges den on halloween :P I didn't get a picture, and I wasn't intending to, but I got several "Full rouges, eh? You must've gone through that course quite a few times!", even from one of the grown people giving me candy X.X
  19. I didn't kill someone who deserved it. (noobish abyss pkers...) That count? ;)
  20. Something rather interesting about this is: Since ess prices are rising, maybe it was Jagex's intent to create a "Pure disaster" to quote a certain person, sending ess prices up and preventing someone from abusing blood crafting the first day it comes out. I think we're looking at a fall release if you ask me ;P
  21. My user is the same, but I always use dirastically different strings of letters and numbers for my user and pass anywhere... I probubly abuse the "forgot password" button more then most people, but at least I'm safe ;) Maybe it was only the people who's account info was possibly leaked?
  22. I go with: Inventory: Ectophial, 3 pouches I can use at 66 rcing, 24 pure ess Equipped: Full black dragonhide Glory Coif/Mystic hat/none Legends/God Cape Mystic/Ghostly boots Full Sara book Rune pick As you can probubly tell, i go heavy on the mage defense-which has saved me countless times from both ancienters and TB'ers (TB'ers are the most dangerous-I've died twice in 15k nat crafts since I started, but been attacked many more times-I died both times because of TB'ers and bloody lack of sound on macs to hear the TB... Which was fixed this week, making me nearly an unpkable abyss crafter, but please, nobody try that theory.
  23. A list of things: 1) Give it all to me (j/k) 2) Invest in Santas or Masks 3) Drop it 1 gp at a time 4) Give it to a friend who needs it 5) Randomly give out 1m to random noobs on f2p (preferably the ones at the chickens or barbies who arn't begging ;) 6) Buy all the rune stuff you can afford and walk around f2p dropping it 7) Number 6, but you give it to random level 40s who arn't begging you for it. Those are all the good ones right off. I can say however that just keeping it without investing in rares is a bad idea, as rares will go up... gp will go down.
  24. Hmm.. I'll have to go with the evil chicken, not the other agressive randoms, those are easy to escape/etc. The evil chicken is evil due to it's tendency to mage you instead of meleeing you.
  25. A guy at trolls was 1hp away from losing his fury, his red p hat, and his rune boots, and a whip.... Then he healed :( Oh, and a few things on this: Mask sets were actually worth more during the latter part of rsc then the beginning of rs2-all rares dropped for a few months as everyone was training skills ;)
