  1. I find it a good idea, and I can back up that jagex doesn't seem to send those confirmations of an appropriate report anymore (I've sent in a number of reports I'm almost certain are legit, there are those few special cases where I'm reporting something that -might- be against the rules). I know I haven't been abusing the system, as I have no black marks, and report most offenses I see (inappropriate language I only report when it's aimed at someone, is discriminatory, or is wanton-one word here or there isn't going to kill anyone, and contrary to popular belief, most kids know all the main rude words by the time they are 13, the age you are meant to be to play the game). I haven't gotten one of those messages for over a year now, which might be a good thing, as if it were my inbox from jagex would be full of them :P Only problem I can see with it is that jagex might have more trouble sorting out the real from the fake and all that. They'd probubly have to devote a lot more of their customer support to report viewage, as I'm sure there are more unreported rulebreakages then fake reports, and each takes a minute to view and longer to review. They'd probubly end up having to put more people in customer support, as they'd need more help viewing the reports and all that. More people in customer support isn't bad, but Jagex might not be partial to it (esspecially as the number of new people needed would go up as well as the number of people initially). Edited to add: I realize this was pointed out before, I was putting extra emphisis on the point of "but Jagex might not be partial to it". Or at least I felt that I was. Possibly as much as doubling expenses has never been a popular thing with companies, and jagex, although I'm sure they care about their players, is a company. I find this would most likely be the biggest problem with the entire suggestion, and so I put extra emphisis on it. Edited a second time to add to the first edit. Edited a third time to add: Possibly the ability to view this rating for a small extra payment per month? I'm sure some people would pay for the extra knowledge of how they were doing and the possible rewards that would come with it. People who didn't care could just continue on their merry way.
  2. If it were exp wise, I'd take away from my fletching (all of it :P) and put that into either rcing, smithing, mining, prayer or ranged (all skills I find harder to train, but enjoy, as compared to wcing, which I find easy to train but boring :P). If it were level based I'd take away from my defense (all ove it :P), and max out my str, my ranged, and put the rest ino hp, making me a prety good pure pker. I might instead of hp put it into mage and get like 86-89 mage, then raise it to 94 from there (not if I was to be f2p of course). I would then procede to get 85 attack, and then walk into the wildy as a walking, talking pwnagering machine (esspecially after getting 70 def back in a month or two of training :P).
  3. hahaha you ignorant fool. Members have more than enough bank space f2p has 1/6th the bank space that members have. Y does it matter to u if we get more space its not like they are taking it from u to give to us. Members don't have enough space if they intend to multiskill with two skills that are linked (herblore and farming). I did this, i had more items for those two skills then f2p gets in all. And to Sword's "you get what you pay for", f2p pays for itself in pay per click advertising, the lag from said advertising, and in having a horrible community. There are some where $5 can make the difference between eating for a week (not in america, but in other countries). Only thing I see that's strange about that is what they're doing playing runescape if their family is that poor, and for that matter what they're doing with a computer that has internet (again if their family is that poor). I support it, as it would help greatly, however I support the holiday items holder I suggested earlier even more. It would allow more bank space for a limited type of item, and it wouldn't allow it to those who didn't have the item (of course, it would be limited to nontradable holiday items, and accessable from any bank).
  4. I'd like to, for one, say that just because they want to date through runescape does NOT nessicarily make them ugly/pedophiles, there are quite a few good looking people who're incessantly shy. I was one of those (I'm not anymore, but not through my own doing-I have a number of people to thank for that), I still am not one of the people who boasts about my achievements loudly and without rest, even though I could. If people are shy, it's hardly ever their fault. I was shy because I had been bullied (although I haven't ever gone out on runescape), and felt more at home where I was a generic-people based their ideas around me on how much work I had done, and how I spoke (wrote :P). I'm not saying they arn't all beautiful people or who they claim to be, but I am saying that some of them could fit in that group. Probubly not all however. (Just to note, I don't like the steriotyping of an entire group of people based on their actions, esspecially if I don't know them. I've made that mistake myself.)
  5. -.- good luck copy and pasting lots of non code into code, it usually causes problems, as the non code stays non code, and the compiler complains. To all those complaining about 9 months wait, here's what I have to say to you: If you can write the java code, feel free. This would require a large number of lines of code. Oh, and if you can procure the extra few hundred/thousand gigabytes for the extra tags for each item, and the tags for the titles, do that as well. And hey, while your at it, release an update every week and deal with a number of rulebreakers, malware posibilities and a large number of requests by ALL the players for information of all sorts. Be my guest. Jagex has a harder job then that, but hey, they're more people. I'm sure I've only touched the tip of the iceburg. In other words, be patient. You arn't dealing with 3 million people. If they do decide to impliment this I wouldn't be surprised if it took over a year and a half, it would require almost as much extra memory as construction (as in construction, the values could be stored as a simple number, in this, it calls for strings-much larger pieces of information memory wise). So please, be patient. You waited 2 years for construction, and this update would get pretty close to how big it was in terms of consumption of resources (computer resources, not logs, money, etc.)
  6. Heh, reminds me of crossdressing day at the camp I was at. For several people (including myself) you couldn't be sure if they were a boy or a girl :P It was all in fun, but I think I caught some of the other guys there staring at me :P Either way, to keep this on topic: It's interesting what noobs will do to try to get money from you. I was rcing with fast free airs, which has an -optional- bonus the crafters -could- give out to the players for a level. I pay the person who levels me 10k plus the running fee. I later checked and found that the bonus was 20k. I had added him because I wasn't sure of the bonus and wanted to pay the entire thing (yes, I'm strange :P). Either way, I tracked him down and paid him the rest. He then claimed that I had gotten a level that is a multiple of 11 (meaning more airs, which has a higher -optional- bonus). I checked my skills, it clearly said 67 runecrafting there (and I checked the highscores, it said the same). I then told him "No, I got 67 runecrafting. Feel free to check the highscores." He then "checked them" and claimed it said 66. I incrediously checked again, and there was 67, plain as I could see. I told him, no, it says 67 there. He then claimed I had gotten another level (theoretically I could've, but I hadn't-I had been sick for two days, and vomiting on the computer doesn't make the computer last incredibly long). I told him that I had been sick and vomiting everywhere. He called me a liar and told me he'd get a 3rd person to check. He had another person (who claimed not to know him) check the highscores, and that person said 66. I ended up telling them both that I can read, and I also said to re-read the thread, as the bonus payment was optional, and I had done him a favour by tracking him down to pay him the rest. He then said "reported", getting quite a laugh out of me, so I asked for what, and got "Misuse of customer support" X.X Either way, I haven't heard from him since. And good riddance, I'm sure those two were in league.
  7. *later noob gets banned for unwittingly item scamming by selling "magical ashes" for 100k* -.-
  8. I think it would be appropriate to give f2p 1/2 of the bank spaces they need for all new holiday items, or a seperate area for holiday item storage. Even as a member I've had to destroy all my holiday items (I've sold off/dropped a lot of stuff recently as well as I'll be f2p soon). I've also had no room for random events that give you costumes. Try doing farming and herblore (or just having the materials in your bank) at the same time, I had over a screen of potions, seeds, saplings, herbs, unfinished pots, and seconds :P More bank space for everybody, esspecially f2p. Or a new storage area for holiday items that can be accessed from the bank.
  9. I support the rule against advertising yourself as a personal accessory, but it would be hard to enforce-and if you look back in the behind the scenes, I do believe you might find something about a couple getting married who met over runescape. Therefore, I think that the rule would be impossibly hard to enforce unless it was either "No online dating through runescape", which I wouldn't support merely because I have a relationship over the internet with someone I care about (Yes, I have met her in person, we went to the same camp), although not over runescape, and I'm sure that as runescape is mmo, it would be limiting to prevent people who both play from enjoying their company as a couple. Another possibility is a rule against "asking for a partner via public chat that isn't aimed at a single individual", while including a provision for harrassment after the individual said no.
  10. It's more like a shot. Here's the math: You can buy onyx bolt tips at 1500 tokkull each. 300k tokkul is about 3m on the chaos to tokkul exchange rate for chaos bought from the mage guild store (world hopping). 300k/1500=200. You'd get 200 tips for 3m gp or so. 3m divided by 200 is 15k gp per tip. 15k per tip + 1.5k per bolt + 15gp per feather comes to 16515 gp ber bolt. So they arn't incredibly expensive, but they are definitely one of the most expensive ammo for ranged yet. I wonder what they work like. If I had that kind of money to spare, I'd probubly take some to the duel arena.
  11. They were the easter 2003 drop, along with [Caution: Jagex Rule Violation]s at christmas-they were also the first nontradable holiday items.
  12. Cat ears wouldn't kill runescape, but I can think of why they'd have a lot of opposition. However, it's not a really great subject to talk about, and I've left the part of my life when I would know about that behind. So I don't remember. No, really. At least that's what I'm telling myself. Which should make it true.
  13. I like the idea, but prehaps it would be easier to make if there were a certian number of item slots per section. Just a thought-it wouldn't be ideal, but it would require less programming on jagex's part. If there were, say, 50 item slots per section, with less for f2p, it would make jagex's job a lot easier, as they could just partition the current bank system. The only reason I can't see this being implimented is that it would require numerous new tags on every item, and that adds up in memory per character size. It would also require a number of additions to the current system as it would have to remember 12 or so new strings of characters. In all, it wouldn't be much more memory per player, but the memory for the whole populace of runescape.... Prehaps make it a members only feature, or close renaming to nonmembers. Nonmember banks arn't that big anyways, as I'm going to learn very soon (becoming a freeloader in a few weeks for the possible 7 hours of homework per night I could be recieving-it's unlikely, but i've heard horror stories...).
  14. Meh, I killed about 200 without a single obby drop, and gave up on them.
  15. I train for the satisfaction of reaching a goal: for instance, my current goal is 70 smithing, I can't wait to make my first addy bar. I train skills first to do things, secondly for making money: for instance, I'm not training my 85 fletching for a while, as I can make every bow now: meaning that I see no point in training it more until later, when I can do everything that other skills offer (99 smithing might be an exception, it might not). The skills I like less are ones that are less rewarding to me: I don't like theiving, as it's very repitious and not very good money. But then I like runecrafting, as every trip is slightly different, and it's rewarding to make your own runes.
  16. I generally laugh at these comments, esspecially because I'd have said the same thing to myself two years ago if I had met myself then. I was a runescape no-lifer. I hardly ever got exercise, etc. I wasn't in shape, the only reason I wasn't about 200lb (in junior high, at just about 5 ft) was because of genetics and my body's way of just getting rid of extra food. Either way, since then I've started working out and cut back on runescape, but I do play quite a bit: I live quite aways away from my friends houses, and my house isn't really the best place to have a group of friends over unless you like woods, more woods, the occasional stick, and/or talking. I recommend to those who play and never exercise, hang out with their friends, prioritize a bit. Runescape is a FUN game, I'll say that. I always appreciate the reaching of a goal, be it mine or someone elses, be it runescape or not. However, it's not as fun as spending time with friends, someone who you care about, playing an insturment, or joining a sport (swimming ftw :P). Prioritize in fun things, and runescape should be somewhere around the bottom of fun things but before hated things.
  17. I support the be nice week. It doesn't mean going around giving out free stuff, it means answering questions nicely, not breaking the rules, etc. etc. Infact, I'd support general courtesy year. Every year. 365 days of every year. But a week would be a start, esspecially if it wasn't an annual thing.
  18. Listen to constructive criticism and learn the forum rules before showing how little you know about them Also, accept constructive criticism, it helps.
  19. Please, give examples, other than the guy south of fally. The Necromanser (sp??) south of Adrounge :wall:. He has been there sence RSC and summons up skeletons when you try to attack him. Venedlor There are two necromancers I believe. Both in the same building and only one of them actually summons up some undead guys to fight you and the other is upstairs. Also there was the wizard from the Zogre Quest who was experimenting with Necromancy and lastly the Dark Wizard tower's main wizard at the top level. He's not all too summoning-esque but he is evil and he's bound to be up to something. Also that one wizard in the basement of the wizards guild has his zombies, which seem to have been summoned, and it looks like it took place in the wizards tower as well, considering a skeleton attacks you if you try to take the skull from the alter down there in it's basement.
  20. Maybe I'm just a bad person, and not a good friend, but i've reported friends for more serious rulebreaking (e.g. things that arn't offensive language). I've known all the incredibly bad language since elementry school, it's not going to kill me to see it. It's also hard to hold a conversation sometimes without bringing up things runescape's censors don't approve of. Anyways: I say talk with him, say he's going to get banned, why waste that kind of money on a game, etc. etc. etc. the whole nine yards suggested earlier. I also suggest reporting him if he buys any more money, to prevent him from keep spending money on a frivolous little game such as runescape.
  21. On the npc's thing: It was like this a long time ago-if you were attacked after d/cing, you were attacked until either you or it died, or something like 5-10 minutes passed. I can say that you did get logged out, but not immediatly-and that a guy nearly lost his red p hat at the trolls way way back when they were about 10m (I think it was january or feb of '05). Either way, me and another were waiting for him to die for different reasons-I attacked the troll to try to save him, the other guy wanted his p hat. I had little hope of saving him as he was red barred, but then he got auto logged. He later almost died, but ate a lot and turned auto retaliate back on. If it's been changed from that, it wouldn't surprise me, but I thought that was a good system.
  22. Mapquest "high bridge", I'm sure you'll find it that way.
  23. I'm gunna put my 5 gp into this (inflation, eh? gotta stop those alchers). Please note that I am currently combat 96. I think that if F2p was gone, MANY members would quit. For a few months, supply type items would go through the roof-even if it's faster to mine iron and coal on members, the sheer number of people doing it on f2p more then unbalances it. I'm going to be f2p at the end of august due to a harder class schedule then I've ever had-If I'm triple digits then, so be it (i'm farming like mad in the meantime however, as I want to get to 80 farming and plant my spirit seed before then). I will take the opurtunity to dress in BRONZE when I'm not training on LESSERS or at CRANDOR. I will still mine with a rune pick, but I wont wear anything. Hey, it might just work. If it doesn't, I'll just take a trip to the lessers or mossies on crandor :) If it is that bad, I'll just merchant for the 8 months, make a fortune, and laugh. Anyways: I think that f2p has more rulebreakers, but also nicer people. I think that a good bit of f2p is willing to beg, scam, and otherwise cheat other players-or macro. I also think that a smaller part of f2p is better then members. I could talk to people back then. I could make friends with other players much more easily-now if I talk to someone my level, they're usually too busy to talk. P2p Is MUCH less friendly compared to f2p. I'll have to be cautious, but hey-if I'm a higher level and can help someone do something without too much trouble, I will. Think smithing, not mining :)
  24. --- Kale Stille: First player to reach 99 runecrafting, and the first top player I have seen. I thought that was Larryr? For rsc: I'm pretty sure bluerose was the first person with 99 smith, I do remember a good number of people messaging me when she got it (I quit for a while after that). I was in varrok east at the time :) - Larryr, Venom and Cpuk are legends to me, I remember when they were the only major 2x nature crafters who had forum boards-I also remember when larryr made it a rule that if you ran for someone else, you couldn't run for him/her. Good old days, before the abyss, back when 44 rcing was my major money making skill at a whopping 200k an hour (lots for me back then, 500 nats an hour by the shop method.).
  25. I use a mac. I just have to use the one click thingy on RS. The sound works on Camino as well :D A few things. First off, I'm a mac user :P Second off, since I have a 2 mouse button mouse hooked up, I'm happy (how did I get by without it?). Third, 1 button click is the same as always left clicking. It however leaves the option to 1 click items as a dead one. Fourth, option+click on a mac == left click :)
